The viewable space is rather small. The old wb used to auto-conform to the size of the browser window. Can we get that back as in the current state it makes threads difficult to read and the board un-enjoyable to use.

Currently the shout box is viewable to non-members. Is there a way we can have that only visible to members?

When are we to expect the slowness to ebb?

Please change the pink!

I also would like the ability to delete my own posts like before. This is especially helpful if something accidentally gets double posted. Right now, I can't even edit my own posts without it telling me that the maximum time has elapsed. The post in question was made only a few minutes ago.

Visibility on forums that should be hidden from guests should be fixed; if anyone notices any I missed let me know.

We might be able to get other colour schemes at some point, but it wouldn't be until after the new year. The ones from the old version weren't valid with this version.

How do we know when there are new posts in a thread?

I dont really want to scan through 5 pages of responses to see where I last left off..the old one brought me right to the newest unseen post in each thread, and bolded the threads that were updated...Is this going to come back?

yeah, i thought we'd get MORE smiley things.
boo.

My 'concerns'
it takes up about 1/4 of my monitor.
the actual form portion is TINY.
60 characters, approx. per line? Way too small.
I'd say widen the forum text portion by about 1.5x
I like the format with the "shout box" on the side/

I like how there is less text garbage at the top though. - less scrolling.

the pepto-pink has to go though.

Font size is WAY too small.

Want to barf with the pink.

Like how quick it is to post.

Want the "" graemlin back. This guy laugh just looks like he's trying to catch flies with his mouth wide open.

I'm sure I'll have more suggestions as I figure my way around this place. I feel like a bit of a stranger.

Okay so I found the smilies - if you go to reply, click on the little smilie icon above the text box, and they are all there!

The stark pink/white look is really hard on the eyes, as is the viewing width, as others have mentioned.

I'm also noticing that from older posts, quoted parts of posts are showing up with strange formatting, so it's hard to tell what is the quote and what is the response.

Thanks for all the hard work WB IT

On another forum I'm on, the shout out box is across the top and not at the side, which might help with the issue of eating up a third of the page. And it's great for people that don't use it - they could just scroll past.

And the pink's even a bit for me! smile

Comment: I can only see the number of posts for every second post. One is in black (no problem) but the other is in a light grey (almost invisible). I can see the red in brackets no problem.

Popular Topics - kinda lame.
looks like they just go by views?
what about having the ones that have the "fire" beside them show up there?
something that's a little more relevant than "hair pics, mostly up-do's" - 21 pages of hair styles, that hasn't been posted in since 10/17/09

I agree the actual forum space is toooooo small across. I like that idea of putting the shout box at the top and while we are at it how about putting the popular topics up there too? Also, how do I tell if there are new replies to a thread?

Can we have the old greamlins (sp?) back as well as the new ones?

Can we make the columns wider?

The popular topics don't really make sense. This should be by post count and within 24 hours or something.

CTRL + helps to make it easier to read, but we shouldn't really have to do that.

Overall it's great though, just going to have to get used to it! It definitely looks "newer" and updated smile Thanks for your hard work over the past 2 days.

The posts that contain new replies have yellow file folders beside them.

Would it be possible to move the user name and avatars up to the top of the post so that you don't have to scroll through the whole post to know who wrote it?

Thanks for all your hard work!

is there some reason why there are only 10 posts/ page viewable while not logged in & then the default is view all when logged in?

i don't hate the pink but I do hate the squished format.

i find the shout box .... unnecessary.

Popular topics can go. It's pretty much useless I think. Honestly the colour isn't nearly as bad as the fact the actual posts are a 1/3 of the screen. WAYY too tiny.

Like others, the forum only uses about 1/3 of my screen. If I zoom it in, the text become HUGE. Is there a way to stretch this all out so there are more characters per line?

The 1/3 screen makes it really hard to read.

Pink is bad - very hard on the eyes.

On a long post, the person's name/avatar are way down the side. Can they come back up to the top?

The smilies are kind of....sucky. I like the old ones.

I miss the threads with new posts being black. It was really nice to see if someone answered without having to actually take the time to go in and scroll to the last post, only to find out that there's nothing new.

Popular topics would be neat if it was current. Showing us what was popular in October isn't really necessary.

Thanks for the work on the upgrade. You guys have done a great job keeping us happy. Hopefully the kinks and unfavourable parts of this upgrade will be ironed out soon.

my first impression

1. the layout is very busy, too much boxes at the top and side with ads and additional boxes like the shout box
2. popular topics -- not needed
3. pink is too bright
4. too much white space in the forum area .....there should be boxes around each topic item so I can easily see who replied last , how much replies there have been.
5. biggest pet peeve --- can't tell which topics are new posts vs ones i have read

if there isn't another upgrade done or revision back tothe previous one, i don't see myself using this forum .....it's too confusing now.

thanks for opportunity to comment

Long time lurker here (since 2004). I've never felt a desire to post much but feel compelled to express how much I dislike the new "upgraded" format. I agree with much of the above observations - the pink is awful, layout is too tight, can't figure out what has been read and what hasn't, etc. If much of these "bugs" aren't rectified, I think I will be finding a new forum to spend my time. Hopefully we don't need start a thread suggesting other forums that aren't so difficult to navigate....

1. Get rid of Popular Topics. Most of them are not even Popular, just really big threads with a lot of posts.

2. ACTUAL FORUM NEEDS TO BE WIDER... I think everyone agrees on this!

There are some issues between different browsers we're still working out - this is where a lot of the weird stuff is coming from. Specifically Internet Explorer has issues like names/avatars at the bottom of their section, random gaps and random grey/black boxes. If you can, switch to Firefox, as everything looks better there. IE has different issues between different versions, so it's hard to fix everything without breaking things for other browsers.. we're working on it though.

PM thread limit should now be 10,000.

I've added a bunch of the old graemlins back in and I'll get to the rest soon.

There is potential to make the width more fluid and have more style templates, but this wouldn't be until after the new year.
