I took Friday off, relaxed, and made a bunch on new bird toys for my site - updated my blog, and all my other sites with new toys.

Saturday...We went to the pipeline with the pups, and made our exit at the top of the pipeline hill when we saw a pickup truck, and heard shots being fired - I believe it's duck hunting season.

Sunday we dropped off a large toy order, dog park, dropped the pups off at the IL's, went to dinner at Graffitis, and saw the Pink Floyd "The Wall" Concert - most awesome belated anniversary date. We then proceeded to give into my craving for pub chips, and ate my leftovers at the IL's before crashing at their place.

Today we had the day off, so DH had to go to work to discuss some important things with his manager, dog park again, then I had a massage - most deserved!

Now I'm making dinner, and ready to watch Dexter and snuggle with DH & pups smile

I like low key!

Jamiesgirl, sound like a great weekend! I got to spend Saturday at DH's uncle who is a heavy smoker, as in yellow walls. I felt ill by the time we left. Had to shower and wash all my clothes when we got home. Sunday was a better day, I had a nap, made some potato leek soup and went to bed early.
I did find out that we will only be able to spend one day with our friends in Kingston rather than the full weekend like we used. Guess why... kids...sigh, I guess I'm on a roll with friends with babies and canceling plans on me. frown

Just had to pop in here and say that I'm so glad that my strongest memories of sippy cups are my friend using one because he kept spilling coffee on everything.

At least, I think that's how that started ... maybe it was beer? Regardless, it was good times and one of the funniest birthday presents I've seen (that actually got used for a LONG time!). Ah, undergrad, how I miss you!

First time I threw my glass bottle out the crib (yes, I was a glass bottle generation girl), my mom decided it was plastic cups for me (probably had that BHPwhatever in them). laugh I never had a sippy cup. Just my favourite Snoopy dog toy...which eventually got fed an upset weiner dog. tongueold

Maybe this is where I learned a love of the bottle, the wine bottle.

I'm so random today. And self-involved. Carrying on my own conversations by myself.

I think I need a holiday. tongueold

You and me both, where are you going? I think I'm going to demand (yeah, I can't even pretend it is just a request) that my boyfriend of 11 years as of yesterday (who completely FORGOT even though he does the year anniversary and I do the 11 month ones) finally give me my Christmas present from 5 years ago and take me to Moose Jaw.

Yes, it's pathetic that that's my idea of a vacation right now.

We were hoping for Vegas in November, but we still haven't got word on DH's biopsy scheduling, we've got a dog that has her own lump/surgery issues with potential liver issues, and...I have the sudden urge to paint our house. Looks like we're taking a week off to do a staycation.

However, come spring...we're deciding Ireland, Houston, Maui or Daytona. I've got all those vacation books sitting on my coffee table. smile

Ireland is so great! Public transit there is quite good (I personally wouldn't drive or take an organized tour because of this) and it's gorgeous. Haven't been to any of the other places but I assume you have wonderful plans no matter where you end up.

Where would you like to go to an AI, musique? Would you do adults-only? My guy's parents surprised me by doing adults-only again this year (since last time they found it was essentially a party place) but I'm curious what other people might choose.

We did Southern England (London, Bath, Glastonbury, Verwood and Christchurch) in 13 days and that was insane. We thought we'd have a shot at going to Scotland on that same trip, but what we didn't know...even though things look really close on the map, they're not easy to get to. Someone said it was an 8 hour drive from London to Scotland (where in Scotland I don't know)...an 8 hour drive here and I'm 2/3's of the way to Winnipeg from Calgary. smile

Some do. Some don't. Sometimes there are arguments about current events. I like those best (as long as they stay respectful and on-topic (or on an interesting topic if they go off-base)). At least I got to use my bacon stat from this morning.

Gingy: go for more vacation time! Two weeks is not enough, not for all that travel to get there!

Yeah I caused a little drama in Misc. land today. But if I would have posted that topic in BBville it would have been worse so.....what can you do!

If you don't ask questions how will you ever find out the answers???

As far as trips; I'm hoping to convince DH to go back to Europe next summer as a graduation/5-year anniversary trip....that and I want another doggy!! Hopefully i can get both!! smile

It's about 5h from London to Edinburgh by train.

FS, didn't you just get an office job where you are doing your Masters?

I am in the process of booking a spring trip to South Africa. We've got our flights booked with a 3 day stopover in Amsterdam, and 2 different safari lodges. We thinking of driving through Swaziland, visiting Durban, then flying to Cape Town for a week, then back to Johannesburg.

I was looking at AIs over Christmas. There was a good deal for an adults only in Cabo, but that was a few weeks ago and I don't remember details. I don't think it's going to happen, though. DH is feeling broke after the flights I just booked. Plus it's his mom's turn to get her grandchildren on Christmas, so we'll probably have to stay here.

We've done Mexico twice, Mayan side. Grand Bahia Principe Akumal (overpriced but nice) and the Grand Flamenco Occidental Xcaret...or something like that, it had 4 names. That was about $1000 less than the Bahia, liked it a lot more and it was attached to the Eco Park.

Friends just came back from Cuba and hated it, didn't like all the knock off brands from the US. Said the food was horrible. It was really funny listening to them talk as I don't think they really understood why you can't get brand names over there. laugh

I've heard Belize and Costa Rica are really great places to go for AI vacation. smile

For the record I am not trying to be a mod. That's not directed at you Pannecoke but just in general, I find it very annoying when non mods try to mod. There's my disclaimer.

As for your question, I don't think she was talking smack as you put it about anyone in particular, she didn't call anyone out specifically she used a poor choice of words and then said sorry.

I don't like seeing certain things in misc, too bad it's my problem. I can choose to either not come on WB or open the thread or read it & not enjoy it. The choice is mine, especially when the title blatantly states what the thread is about.

On that same note, I have never heard of giving your dog a timbit. Is this normal practice? Am I too strict of a fur momma? I don't think I'd ever think to give my dog a timbit much less do it.

But now that the pooch is on her way out, I am trying to spoil her to bits (much to DH's chagrin) I wonder if I should be getting her a timbit. I am assuming the chocolate ones need to be avoided, any others I should be aware of?

Excuse me, but anyone who takes personal offense to the terms "spawn", "crotch fruit" or any other tongue in cheek term for children is in the wrong thread.

This thread is for people who don't have children, and therefore anything posted here is not intended to be read by mothers, so nobody is expected to choose their words carefully, for fear of offending a parent. If you read something here that offends your mommy sensibilities, TFB. If CFmrs posted that in BB, you have a right to rip her a new one. But here, you can just close the browser and walk away. Otherwise, it's like me going into BB land and asking you to please refrain from talking about breast feeding because the topic offends me.

As for BB'ers upset about posting baby stuff in misc, that's not exactly the issue. There has been a request to not post "yay! I'm pregnant!" in misc out of respect for those with fertility issues. And there are people who don't seem to fully understand, who extract that to include any reference to anything child related, which is almost impossible.

blush DH is working tonight and I was just contemplating going to timmies to get me a tea & an oatmeal cookie, I might just get her one shocked

It goes against everything I would normally do we do not allow her to have human food and feed her all natural / organics but she's dying so I think she should get to try everything in small quantities.

Now the question that begs to be asked is can I make the 45 min commute home hungry tonight when I know I have a timbit in the car wink

My furbabies get timbits, all depends on the location though. I will note that I'm not a fan of this....we give them each half a timbit, they promptly take those timbits and stuff them between the seats and then come looking at us for more timbits.

Getting timbits out of the back of an Accord coupe with leather seats...not fun.

amberm145 - even if you have a "right" to be offensive, why would you want/choose to be (or defend those who are)?

RCG...get a few timbits to share. My girls are more interested in sharing my food than if I give it to them and not take one myself. Maggie often gives me back her cookies to hold if I'm not eating too. laugh

Crotchfruit....I had NO idea that related to kids. laugh DH and I were talking about this yesterday and he asked me what it meant, I had no idea. I thought it meant you've got an abundance of crawlies down there that were multiplying. tongueold

CFmrs, you're a very sad person. It's one thing to be child-free and enjoy it, it's another to be downright hostile and rude towards parents and children. I feel kind of sorry for you. I think choosing to be child-free is awesome, it's too bad you don't have the same respect for people who choose to have children.

And with that, I'm out. I really apologize for crashing your thread ladies, sometimes I just really enjoy reading it and remembering what it was like before I bore my crotchfruit, LOL! smile

Yes, that's probably for the best... I'm just terrible that way sometimes. I can't count the amount of times FW has asked me a loaded question and I give her the complete opposite answer from what she wants to hear. And she gets the pretend hurt face every time. I really am a polite person, but I suppose I stir the pot a bit too often still.
