What would you request for birthday dinner?

I need some inspiration here. DH is cooking me a birthday dinner tomorrow, friends are coming over, and I have no idea what I want.

DH is a great cook, so nothing is really too hard.

Some restrictions...
NO fish, nuts or sesame. Tired of pasta.

So, any suggestions?

I would choose a grilled steak with caramelized onions and mushrooms, foil pack potatoes, and grilled zucchini - with a big glass of red wine to top it all off smile

Butter chicken, naan bread, basmati rice and maybe some sort of salad to go with it. For desert a lemon cheese cake.

Beef tenderloin with a nice sauce (+/- mushrooms if you like them) and roasted potatoes.

Well since you said no pasta, I'd go with a filet mignon with a great pan sauce made with red wine and shittake mushrooms, risotto (or is that too much like pasta for you, if so some roasted baby fingerling potatoes) and my favourite veggie side. Top it off with a great dessert like warm chocolate-caramel brownie and vanilla ice cream. To drink red wine.

LOL...if we hadn't just had steak the other night and butter chicken for lunch today, I'd be all over those suggestions! (But I LOVE both of these)

But I think I've got roasted asparagus and stuffed potato on the menu now that I've seen these suggestions...mmmmm!

Sara...of course you can come...might be a bit of commute though! wink

Thanks ladies for the suggestions so far...

With those two things you just listed a fillet of beef and baked tomatoes would be my choice.

It is my birthday dinner on Sunday and we are having Greek. Chicken souvlaki, pita bread, greek salad, probably rice or greek style potatoes and homemade baklava for dessert! Happy birthday!
