If she's 17 why can't she pick her own shoes?

I'd go to Payless and pick up some ballet flat type shoes. They're cheap and cheerful.

Keds? Keds has some great little shoes these days and they are "in" along with the converse trend.

My 14 year old niece is all about the ballet flats and puma sneakers.

I'd pick her up a copy of Teen Vogue to check out some styles.

Be careful with Uggs, when I was at school (roman catholic uniform school) we weren't allowed to wear them. I don't remember the reason why, but those and flip flops (they had to go around your ankle or 'fully attach' to your foot in some way) we couldn't wear, even on dress down day.

At that age i lived in flats. I still do! laugh

My niece and her friends wear ballet flats, Toms, Uggs, Skechers, Keds and flip flops. Although, I think she's currently wearing my Philip Simon's because they're missing from my closet.

So many cute ballet flats.
Personally, I don't wear flats, though, because I don't like how short my legs are.

Currently my 15 year old wears the birkenstok clogs to school (also a catholic school), some wierd knitted boots, and some other ugly foot deforming monstrosities!

Honestly, I think she'd rather choke on all her pairs of shoes than ask me for help picking something out! You and your DD must have a pretty awesome relationship!

(I will say this though, lately I've been seeing OLD women, like way older than my 34yrs, dressing like my teenager and all her friends, I'm starting to find it REALLY bizarre!)

My daughter who is 12 but pretty fashion forward likes to wear Uggs, Birks in the summer, moccasins and ballet flats.

Wow, I had no idea Birks were back. I wore them in junior high in the mid-nineties, but thought they had been permanently banished to middle-aged comfort wear/travel shoes. grin
