My DH wired our whole house, what's the problem? Maybe I can ask him and he can help!
eta: he's not an electrician, but seems to know what he's doing... and one of his best friends is an electrician

A string of lights aren't working in the house, there is no breaker tripped and all GIF's have been checked. Our electrician doesn't know what's happening (we only spoke by phone).

Hmmm... can't help you there, if your electrician doesn't know from a phone conversation I highly doubt my husband would have a solution for you... sorry! Good luck!

Did the lights work 'forever', then 'suddenly' stop working one day?
Or if you turn off all the things drawing power, leave them off for a few hours, then turn them back on, resume being 'on'?
My girlfriend had an issue where she had a loose connection in her walls - when the circuit got hot from electrical load, the wires separated, and the line appeared to have no power. Bit of a fire hazard, so she had to find the bad wires and connect them properly.
You don't say how long theres been no power to that circuit, so i'd unplug/turn off everythign and wait a few hours, then turn a thing or two back on and see if you have power. If they turn on, you have a bad connection somewhere.

Not an electrician either, but that's what I was going to say. Bad connections somewhere, probably near the beginning of the line.
