How much do you pay? (auto insurance)

Wow, non-baiting titles really take all the fun out of the actual post, huh?

So, see subject wink

I think I'm paying too much, but just wanted to compare to see.

This will vary hugely by province.

I'm in AB and I pay just about 1050 per year or 89 a month.

$70/mth...$840 yr.

That said, I'm in Alberta, I'm 40, married, been driving 22 yrs, 5 star rating (no accidents - knock on wood), live in a smaller town outside of Calgary and commute with my 2009 Patriot. All factors in my rate.

$62 a month in Alberta, so about $744 a year. 2007 Two door Pontiac G5. Full insurance. No glass (better off not to get it in AB). DH is added on as a driver. I have been driving for about 12 years without an accident.

In BC, though, I was paying about $1000 MORE a year.

About $150 a month.

I don't really know what factors in, but I drive a new vehicle, have replacement on it for 3 years (if I write it off in 2013, I get a new 2013 vehicle, not the equvilant value of mine). I have been driving for 9.5 years, no accidents or claims.

I live in BC.

$185 a month. GTA. 2009 Ford Focus. Clean record and ten years experience. I believe I live in the area in Ontario with the highest insurance premiums. If I kept my old company instead of switching to my work one it would be $300 plus a month.

What a coincidence that I see this post. I have just been talking with td for the last hour to switch from Quebec to Ontario insurance. I can not believe how much the gta cost

The guy quoted me around 4000$ for our two vehicles, one with very basic coverage and the other with medium coverage. He said it would be 800$ down and 400$ a month wow are you kidding me? I really need to find another company. Does anyone know of a cheap one in Ontario? I'm in Mississauga

$266.78/mth for a 2004 Mazda 3 and a 2007 Mazda 3, plus house insurance that is around $30-something per month. So give, or take, the auto is actually around $230/mth.

We have a 2012 Kia Rondo and we pay $112 a month.

We're insured up the ying yang. Mega coverage (liability and ppd), $0 deductible, full replacement value, accident forgiveness, etc. You name it, we probably have it.

We've both been driving for well over 20 years and each have clean records. We live on the outskirts of the GTA so it's cheaper. And we have the alumni discount with Meloche Monnex as well as the combo discount because our home insurance is also with them.

2011 Mitsubishi RVR
2002 Toyota Tundra 4x4
Full coverage on our ATV is included (not sure how much that adds)

$199/mth 2010 Mitsu Lancer, 20 years driving experience, 1 claim (total loss - 16 months ago), but accident forgiveness (which bugs the crap out of me, because if the responsible driver had stuck around there would've been charges and they wouldn't have invoked the 'accident forgiveness' clause in the first place). Less than 30km one way to work, so listed as 'pleasure'. DH has his own insurance. Policy coverage includes rental (not all of them do, apparently).

It's the living in Toronto that kills us on our rates which is a crock, since parts are easier to come by here for repairs, insurance approved body shops are dime a dozen, and auto thefts have dropped to far that the cops (local and provincial) have disbanded their auto-theft-specific teams. We pay extra for other people being idiots.

We pay 263 for insurance on our 2011 VW Tiguan, 2007 Ford Ranger and house insurance. We have full coverage on both our vehicles. I have used the total replacement insurance twice now. I have written off three cars in as many years (none of the accidents were my fault) and DH just had a minor accident.

When we lived in Ottawa we were paying a little less than $100 a month. When we moved to the GTA it pretty much doubled (we didn't change brokers). In January, we called around to a few places, and the cheapest we could get was a group rate through DH's alumni association. We are now paying about $120 a month.

DH - 35, 6 star rating, driving for 18 years
dd - 17, G2 on Feb 7, drivers training

06 Ford Explorer
04 Honda Civic
