I miss Daisy Rae and Misty *sigh*

  1 2 3
I know, just because they can't post anymore, doesn't mean they are not actually 'here'.
But I miss all the old posts and the sarcasm. It's not quite the same without the old trouble makers spitting out whatever they want, whenever they want.

Please tell me that I am not the only one

Nope I loved those two as well. Especially DR! I loved how reading her posts made me feel as if I had been smoking something real good even though I was sober as a judge.
She could sure make me laugh and shake my head at the craziness
Ahh Daisy Rae....

Though, I'm sure it's time to resurrect the canoe post.

I never paid attention to Misty so no idea who she's reincarnated to.

Maybe so...BUT (to me anyways) MH's posts are the low-calorie, fat free version of DR's posts. The same general flavor is there, but MH's posts are missing some of the kick that DR's posts had.

Thats like saying you can't enjoy Batman movies anymore; that the movies aren't any good because Adam West has been replaced by Val Kilmer or Christian Bale or Michael Keaton or George Clooney. That there is only one Batman for you - Adam West...you really need to let go of this image.

Adam West is really old just like your beloved "DaisyRae" and "Misty" - you should be doing a R.I.P. thread not this one. Just like the Batman analogy, how would you like to see Adam West up on the big screen doing batman? You're living in the past. Sure we all miss Adam West, he IS the real deal but he just doesn't cut it anymore as Batman.

As far as Misty is concerned I believe she is now running around these boards masquerading as Mary Poppins. I think I recall her posting to a thread very similar to this one actually quoting Mary Poppins herself: "Go? What on earth are you talking about?" She's magical, there's enough spoonfuls of sugar to make the medicine go down

Welcome back Misty Poppins!!!!

But you can't pick and choose. You have to take the mean WITH the funny. Plus what's mean/funny to one person ain't mean/funny to another. It's all relative.

I wish I was around when DR and Misty were in effect. It sounds like they represent an era when WB was exciting. It sounds as though they spoke their minds. So refreshing!

Now the board is decidedly VANILLA. Even I know that and I haven't been around that long. Everyone is uber diplomatic, always spinning a post in such a way so that it offends no one, although someone always manages to whine.

Good msg boards always have a few infamous posters who tell it like it is, call ppl out on their BS, and throw in a few posts for pure shock value. We need more of these ppl. I am now accepting applications.

Really? I'd have to say it's quite often the opposite. Somebody's always getting offended around here. A simple post about calculators could easily result in an uproar

Bah, I dunno. IMO, when a poster makes a jerk-wad comment they're just doing it for attention. It's motivated by extreme boredom at work or something. You gotta take posts on here with a grain of salt. Before you cry yourself to sleep, stop and think: This post came from some random nobody in Vancouver/Winnipeg/Toronto/Halifax. Do I *really* care enough to weep on my pillow over it? If the answer is yes, then you've got issues and they've got nothing to do with this board.

If I read a post on here to which my reaction was "Dayum, that girl is a biiiitch", I'd think it's hilarious. 1)I applaud her for being candid and upfront, 2)I applaud her for having the ballz to say something she KNOWS will cause a row, and 3)I LAUGH. I don't get mad or offended. I'd probably join in, actually.

Again, kunty to you may not be kunty to another. But I definitely agree that there are posts that pretty much 99% of WBers would deem to be kunty. I have yet to see one though...hence my claim that the board is VANILLA. I stand by that one.

no no no - they're the parents that accompany their kids to university classes.

Actually, I'd say there could be varying perceptions of this. To me, its the parent that just "hovers" around their kid, they can't get dirty, they meerily go to the bathroom & they'll want to call a doctor, their kid is sooo special the kid can't turn around & the parent is there "hovering". Actually, IMO, its not really very funny at all. I've seen some kids that are/will be messed up by this type of thing. Actually, its pretty sad to see sometimes.

There was just a commercial on TV for that movie "A Beautiful Mind" - don't take it the wrong way, thats what I think of her. If she had a "cause" her substantiating her posts was incredibly thought provoking.

While some found her sarcastic, crude and even insulting I found her to be highly intelligent even if she was masking it with sarcasm or something shocking. If I didn't "get her" I always thought it was because she was smarter than me.

Then she sent her friend "Jesus" to save us all; obviously we've been "saved" because neither has been back.

Sadie, with all due respect, I think this is a sore spot. Now I know I'm sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong (and perhaps this whole issue doesn't even belong here) but I think this was said with some raw, fresh feelings and people have been considerate in the past...and I don't even know how to ask for consideration eloquently . Be pissed off but try not to be pissed off forever as I'm not so certain it would be deserving.

I've got a soft spot for this poster (don't ANYBODY start flaming please) and I think this is coming from somebody being hurt. At the same time I don't want to make anyone a victim

She honestly feels that some people get preferential treatment because of friendships with mods. I think that's a legitimate feeling, and it's certainly her right to say it.

Whether it's true or not doesn't change the fact that it's her prerogative to think it.

And as a mod, she's entirely within her right to defend herself against such a statement.

I think a lot of the 'preferential treatment' that the PP refers to may be directed at the old set of mods, and not necessarily the new ones. It's not uncalled for to defend yourself when being painted with the same brush.
