 Anyone sew bags?

So I recently got into sewing, particularly bags. Thought I would see if there are others who have a similiar interest and would like to share their work, tutorials etc.. here a couple I did in the summer. My husband is getting tired of hearing about them, so thought I would find another outlet to discuss. smile

The fabric of the small one is so cute! Although it's WAY too small for me to use as a purse. How on earth do you cram everything in there?

I've done a few - but nothing as structured as your bags - they are really nice. I have a great pattern for a reversible beach bag/tote that makes a nice gift.

I've been making my purses for about 2 years now! Usually a new one every couple months but I don't have any pictures/tutorials to share. I need to make my next one soon-ish, but first I have to finish my Christmas crafts!

I'm another one who's been meaning to sew some bags (along with other things) but lack of sewing space and a toddler doesn't help. One day... anyway, I have at least one pattern that features 6 different style bags. I can't wait to make one sometime. When we buy our next house I cannot wait to have a designated sewing corner.

Your bags are beautiful!

this site has quite a few free patterns, none of which I've ever found the time to try mind you!

Those are cute! Great sewing! I made my diaper bag to match my babyhawk baby carrier. I want to make a purse from the same fabric but I have a list of other items I need to sew first lol

Her is the diaper bag I made

Finished up my last purse intended for xmas gifts.. Did these over a couple months

This is from the book Carry me. It uses an internal purse frame. Back of bag has a zippered pocket .

Inside - I tried to add a zippered divider down the middle (not in the pattern), but made it too big, it was too late to fix. It can just be pushed to one side. One side of the inside has a zippered pocket, the other has two open pockets and pen pockets.

pleated clutch - from Vogue pattern.. love how this turned out.

Crossbody bag - This is from a Vogue pattern. My interfacing caused a lot of wrinkles.. so annoying. If I had more time I'd do it again

inside - has a zippered pocket on one side and 2 open pockets and pen slips on the other.

this one is made from a placemat. I'm not too happy with how it turned out, it's was simple to do but made some mistakes. It's for my SIL who is having a baby any day now, thinking she can use it as a diaper clutch. It has a zippered pocket on the back and a magnetic closure. Used this tutorial - lined pouch

Sorry for the long post! Excited to be done these projects..

And DH's Bag is done and wrapped up - no pictures until he opens it at Christmas as I don't want him to see it until then. I know he's seen the work in progress as he went into the office/craft room to turn off the lights earlier this week (despite me saying do.not.go.in.there).

cool! Post pics later if you can, would love to see it.

I ended up with a couple last minute bags - simple messenger style without flap with Angry birds face on the front, for my nieces. Was going to make plushies but found out they have the whole set.

I think once the holidays are over, my next project will be me a small carry case for my son's cars..

The pictures aren't that great but here is a picture of the bag I made DH!

The inside has a neoprene pouch for where his laptop can go.

There's also a zippered pouch on the back and a nice cushy patch on the strap so it doesn't dig into his shoulder.

I think it took me about a week working on it a hour or so at a time (had to do it when DS was awake as his room is right next to my sewing machine and had to entertain him as well...).

I find Neoprene is super easy to sew with.

I sewed it in the lining of that section instead of interfacing. The only hard part was I didn't want the seams sewing si it was tricky figuring out where to place each layer when sewing inside out to have them be located where I wanted.

I usually buy my fabric at Fabriclanf but I bought some at Fabricana at Christmas as there was one where we were visiting. What etsy seller do you buy your hardware from?. I buy my zippers from fabricland but can't find handles anymore. I'd also love to try one with an internal purse frame but have no idea where to get it from.

I haven't decided which pattern I am going to do yet. I have a ton pinned on pinterest to choose from.

Can't wait to see the penguin backpack you do for your DS!

Wow, daisygreen...those are some awesome bags!

I havent gotten the courage to try sewing a bag but you've given me motivation to do it.
Maybe when I'm on mat leave.
