 Centrepieces with fruit and flowers

I am looking for two things:

-Any pictures of centrepieces with fruit and flowers (preferably limes or green apples)
-An explanation of how to make a centrepiece with cut up limes in clear vase

I am so desperately trying to make up my mind on these centrepieces and I saw the lime idea at a bridal show today. I think it is the idea I like the best.

Thanks ladies!

Check out Angela's (be_byte)post in inspiring ideas under "new pics added" or something like that. I don't know how to upload pictures but I have also seen pictures of appleas in vases with a ball of flowers on top(I want to do this with pears because my theme is "a perfect pair").

Good luck!

There is a gorgeous centrepiece in the newest WeddingBells with sliced lemons and limes in a vase with tropical flowers on top. It's very 'tropical' but it's exquisite. Unfortunatley, I don't have a photo, I've just seen it in the magazine!
Good luck!

Deb,
I love your centrepieces! How did you do the one with the limes? Is it just plain water? How did the limes stay put and not float up?

I believe you use two vases and the limes/lemons whatever go between the two and that is how you keep them from floating up. If you look closely at the second last pic with them in it you can see both of the vases.

Thanks, I can see that now. That might be a little more expensive then, having to buy an extra vase. I wonder if there is a way to do it without doing that? Any ideas?

You need two vases to separate the fruit from the flowers. The two vases allows the fruit to stay in place, and also keeps the two separate, if not, the fruit will shorten the life of the flowers.

I am doing these centrepieces for my wedding! i think they are so colourful!

Our certerpieces used sliced limes with flowers on top. They were DIY. In order to make them we purchased 2 square vases, one was slightly smaller than the other, but the same shape. We placed the smaller vase inside the larger one and we lined the space in between with sliced limes. This way they stay put.

We also had a very large vase on our card table that we were going to fill with apples and then flowers on top but the apples kept floating to the top once we added water. So if you are using fruit I recommend having a smaller container for the flowers and placing the fruit in between. We loved our centerpieces and so did out guests and they released a very fresh and suble citrus smell.
Good Luck.
