Come on over ladies!

I just spent my evening assembling invites, probably 50% done now. I'm all pumped up and ready for this wedding NOW!! Being under the 3 month mark is making me panic a lot, I feel like there's so much left to do!

Hi browntown! I feel the same! Like I'm only now starting to put my ideas into concrete plans. I just ordered a white mailbox for our card box, decided on favours (homemade grape jelly), and ordered a really cute wooden sign off Etsy that says 'I do' and 'We did' with arrows pointing toward the ceremony and reception areas. Still waiting on my invitations, feling a bit panicked about getting them out (didn't send out STD's)... hoping they come tomorrow! The envelopes are already addressed and I even put the stamps on the envelopes too...

I'm not exactly in the "under 3 months" category, but seeing as I will be next week, I'm going to post here anyway tongueold

Browntown & TnT - I feel the same too! Wow - 3ish months to go! And still SO much to do!

AFM:
1) We picked out our rings! We went to an independant jeweler the FH had helped do some renos for a while back, and got a great deal! I totally forgot to take a picture of it, and am so disappointed I didnt! To describe, it's a half-diamonded eternity ring - only diamonds on the top - plain, simple - but looks stunning with my princess cut solitare! And FH ordered his - a two-toned white gold ring. I am excited for them to come in!

2) We will get our invites on Tuesday next week. It is later than I wanted, however, we will still be able to get them out by the 3-month mark. I'm not overly worried as I did send out STD's in November last year.

3) I am having my first bridal shower this weekend! This one is being put on by my MOH and Mom - I'm so excited! I've sneaked a peek at our gift registries - you know, to make sure I still had items on there wink - and noticed a few of the items we were really hoping for have been purchased for us! We are definitely lucky to have some great friends/family! The only downfall I've had is finding a dress... I tried on the perfect dress at cleo, and it fit perfect on the top half, and then wouldnt go down past my hips. I have a back up dress, but was really hoping to purchase a new one for the shower.

4) On the weight subject - I'm down 7.8 lbs in the past 2.5 weeks. Its great to see some finally coming off. I just wish I put in the effort months ago. I am hoping for 20 lbs off before the wedding.

I hope everyone is having a great week! smile

I was wondering where you ladies were and then I realized we are in JUNE! HOLY MOLY!!
I've had very little time to do anything wedding related since getting the house ready to sell. It just went up on the market TONIGHT and we have showings tomorrow! Hopefully we sell uber fast so that we can secure the home of our dreams and I can get back on track with my wedding projects tongueold

I do have my first fitting on Saturday - so excited to put MY dress on smile
We've had a bunch of RSVPs so far which is so fun and even our first registry item purchased. I also got 4 big boxes of Pampered Chef items delivered today!! (from my bridal shower) I can't wait to use it all in my new house!

Ok, I'll come back to write a real response, but here's a link to a video tour of our new place. Mind the mess! I wanted to clean up before I did the video, and realized that if that's what was holding me back from making it, you'd never get to see it, LOL! I literally dropped what I was doing (making a sandwich for dinner), and made it, I had a now-or-never moment.

Browntown - loved the house video!! We have been renovating our house for the past year (main floor almost complete!) so I bet it feel awesome to have it done! Also - thanks for that tip about those clear pieces that go on the heels for walking on grass! They work fantastic! I definitely recommend them smile

Ok I'm a bit early but I couldn't resist following the crowd haha. A bit jealous of you ladies getting to move! I've decided to go 'back to school' (upgrade my diploma to a degree online) so we'll be in our townhouse for a while longer than planned... Priorities I guess!

Meechie your dress is beautiful! So excite that you ladie have your dresses! My original confusion/second guessing/6+ dress shopping trips means mine may not be in until mid August!! It's really stressing me out recently.

On brighter notes I booked the florist, the tent for cocktail, ordered the cake topper and place cards, dropped my engagement ring off to get my wedding band made, booked a follow up appt with the decorator, and the bridesmaid dresses should be in any day now! AND invitations are going to the printer Monday!!

Starting two DIY projects soon- 'Reserved' seating signs for the ceremony and programs smile FIL is also done our centerpiece bases and is starting on the cake stands! I need to get posting some photos!

Hi Ladies!! Feels like forever since I have posted anything. I really haven't been doing too much wedding projects lately. My invitations are out and we are getting replies so that is exciting. I am also trying to do ceremony programs by myself but I am not very creative so I am scoping some ideas right now.

For those that have gotten their tuxes already did you get Freeman tuxes? And if so were you able to find a place that actually had samples of colours? We went to the Big & Tall at train yards and they just gave us a booklet and basically said we had to choose through that and couldn't actually see samples. Did any of you girls see samples??

honeypie - Didn't see you posted the same thing here too! I replied in the 3-6 month category! Long story short - yes I saw the actual colour samples. Look for a Freeman Formal showroom!

Woodsygal4 - Sounds like things are coming together nicely for you! And we all love pics - so post away!

Meechie - Your dress is beautiful! And it fits amazing too!

AFM:

I had my first bridal shower this weekend! It was so much fun, and we definitely got spoiled by our friends and family!

I am already half way done my thank-you cards (there will be about 50 from this shower) and it feels amazing! I never thought about how much time those would really take!

I am also picking up our invitations tomorrow! So excited for them to be here! I am planning on having all my thank you cards and invites out by Friday. I am being very ambitious!!

honey - nice to see you! I'm not doing as much wedding stuff as I'd like right now; it's hard to work on projects while trying to keep the house so immaculate for showings tongueold
We got CK tuxes at Tip Top so I'm not help...

Lysh - you go girl! Sounds like you're on a roll! Glad you had a great shower! The thank you card do take forever! I've had 2 showers and I made the first round of thank you cards, but I just didn't have time to do that for the second round. But they are done! I was so overwhelmed with their generosity smile

The RSVPs keep coming in daily and it's so fun to see their little notes and have them sign our virtual guest book (online RSVP). Of course we've already had family upset because so-and-so wasn't invited and blah blah blah... it just irritates me how people feel so entitled or can't respect the bride and groom. We tried to keep it as fair as possible but we knew we'd ruffle a few feathers tongueold

I booked my hair trial for July 4th but I'm really stumped on what to do. I feel so limited with my hair. It's grown quite a bit since November but it's still not long enough to do much with. I'd like to do something different but I feel like I'll be paying a stylist to do my hair the way it looks every day tongueold
I really didn't want to do extensions, but I may have to if I can't find something suitable.

Yey for invites and your shower Lysh!! I got my bridesmaids over to help me with the shower thank you's, I wrote the notes and they enveloped and addressed/stamped them for me so it would go quicker. The wedding ones are going to be fun!

Honey we have freeman tuxes and the store we got ours from had big 'rings' of fabric swatches... I'm in the Ottawa Valley though... have you been to an actual Freeman's store? The store we ordered through is a mom and pop place of course! haha small towns...

I have my hair trial coming up soon too Meechie! I've been growing mine for 2 years now thankfully but I'm still only at my shoulders now. I've just been creeping a LOT of wedding photographers websites for ideas from other brides and also looking on pinterest. I have seen some amazing styles done in shorter hairstyles, building them up with curls and pinning them to look like an updo- depending on what you want your hairdresser may surprise you with what they can do!

My wedding nightmares have officially returned and are getting worse! I am obviously worrying about my dress not being anywhere near coming in and my lack of accessories so far... I have NONE! frown I have been looking online but haven't found anything I love and there is nowhere to buy this stuff in small towns... I need to take a city shopping trip soon but weekends have been so busy!

honey - I found my ceremony program inspiration on etsy and am tweaking it to suit our needs - we're doing one 4.25x11 card front and back so we just need to print them, cut them in half to make two from each sheet of cardstock and add our embellishment (stamp and ribbon) for our 30 min Anglican ceremony that's all we needed! Once I get started I will be sure to post my inspiration photos vs my projects smile

honey_pie - We went with Freeman too, and no, we didn't get to see anything other than the swatch book, which is slightly better than just the catalogue booklet. We saw the swatch book at TipTop, does that help? I'm pretty sure I actually saw a fabric swatch... It feels like forever ago.

AFM - I just had my shower on Saturday. It was perfect. It was so nice to see everyone, and my kitchen is now FULL. I can't imagine how we'll fit even more in the kitchen, as i know that there are some items that have been purchased off of the registry that we still haven't received. I'm almost done with the thank you cards, and then I have to get right back to invitations. My goal is to send them out early next week. I feel rushed, but I know that I have time.. we sent out Save the Dates, so I don't think it's as urgent to get them out. 2.5 months in advance is plenty, no? 2 months is the norm I think.

Browntown - 2 months is probably plenty (8 weeks). If people haven't already planned to come, a couple extra weeks isn't going to change their minds wink The "norm" is usually sending them out 3 months before the date - but I don't think a few weeks are going to really matter too much.

Woodsygal4 - I had my bridal trials this past weekend for my shower and they did the "look" I had envisioned, but I am not so sure I liked it. I, too, have been growing my hair for a while now (almost 2 years) and while it's long, and look very full when I added the extensions for volume, I don't think the hairstyle was really, me. I got my mom to take pictures of every angle of my hair and makeup so I'll be able to take a better look - but now I'm so undecided on what to do with my hair for the wedding. I'll almost leaning towards having it all up as opposed to half up/half down. When I get some pics I'll post.

Afm: wow! Today has been quite the busy day! I completed all of my thank you cards from my shower on Sunday, and brought them to the post office today! I almost put then aside today, but pushed myself to finish them. It's such a great feeling to have those done! And I'm glad my next shower isn't until next month - gives a little breathing time. I have officially unpacked all of the shower items (and rearranges my kitchen twice today to make it all fit). I didn't really realize how much we really got until I tried to find a spot for it all. The only thing left to open is our dyson vacuum. That is staying in the box until all of the drywalling is done. I don't want it to get all dusty!

I picked up my invitations today and they look fabulous. All of the envelopes are labelled with the return address and the guests name. Such a big task already done for me! The reply envelopes are also labelled! Woohoo smile. I assembled 1 invite and brought it along to the post office to get weighed. It is 50 grams - which is a hefty 1.05 stamp on each; however, it was sometimes weighing in at 51 grams which would increase the cost to 1.29. The lady at the post office said I should be fine with the 1.05 stamps but I'm worried that someone will say they're over and send all my invites back. Anyone else having this sort of issue? Nothing can ever be simple!

And now onto my newest issue: my one bridesmaid. I've been friends with her for about 18 years now and asked her to be in my wedding party before she moved to the far west coast (BC). I was so excited, and it seemed she was as well, but lately she's been really complaining about everything related to cost. She doesn't want shoes over $35, doesn't want to mail me shoes (the girls are all getting dyeable shoes); etc. This past weekend she called up my MOH and asks her what she's up to for the weekend. When she told her it was my bridal shower, my bridesmaid said "oh... Really? That's this weekend" I guess I'm just a little bummed out that she doesnt seem to be really interested in anything related to the wedding, or wanting to help. Thanks for letting me rant smile

Onto assembling more invites!

Browntown-the staging looks great in your place! Any offers yet?

Meechie your dress is gorgeous! I love it smile...Can you tell me, how did you post your pictures on here? Im having great difficulty!

Lysh-it feels so good to have those invites done hey? Now you can sit back and relax for the responses to roll in! Our invites were supposed to be more than regular postage too and the lady at the post office said nope they're fine just by a hair, and we didn't have any returned for insufficient postage!
That bridesmaid situation sucks. I don't live in the same city as any of my bridal party , so i know how it feels to be out of the "groove" so to speak...and it's my wedding! lol. I bet you she feels left out a bit and honestly a tad jealous that she's not able to take part in anything. I guarantee she didn't forget, maybe shes just hurt. Talk to her about it! I know it's not really your job to be worrying about her right now, but if it were me i'd reach out and let her know that i really wish she was closer to be part of it all. Heck, i'd even skype her during the shower but i'm lame like that haha.

AFM-

Everyone's already having their showers already?! I feel behind the game! Im not having ours until mid July and my stagette isn't until mid August...I actually haven't even filled out more than 4 itmes on our registry at the Bay, i should get on that! haha.

I need a cake topper that's cheap! Suggestions? I've seen the ones at michaels and they'll do...but i'm wondering if anyone has found a hidden gem anywhere?

Im buying all my bridesmaids goodies for their overnight bag tomorrow as Bath and Body Works starts their crazy semi annual sale! I'm pumped...if any of you work/live near one you have to go tomorrow or within the next few days before all the 90% off stuff is gone! $1.73 for lotions? Okay! Im a bodycare fiend!

Got an email today that my bridesmaids dresses are in transit! I can't wait as i've been flopping back and forth for the color of the bm's shoes. Now that i'll have the dress in my hands i can finally see it against the options!

Browntown - we did save the dates and are also planning to send our invites out about 2.5 months in advance, everyone already knows so the invite really is just the formal 'yes' - I think the longer you give people the longer they have to think about it - aka forget and lose their RSVP card haha.

Lysh - that's really too bad about your hair trial!! It sounds like it would be worth having another? I also use extensions for fullness smile I am hoping my hair turns out how I imagined! As for the bridesmaid situation I feel you - mine are mostly sisters and my sister in law to be - she's far away and NEVER gets back to me about stuff... 2 of my 4 sisters here don't seem to care about the wedding aside from making it what they want for themselves, and my one friend in my bridal party in a now single mom going through a divorce and moving, etc so she's pretty busy! I would definitely talk to her a bit- its DEFINTELY possible she's being difficult because she feels left out... If that's not the case maybe hearing how it's effecting you will encourage her to shape up!

Jules - I got my cake topper on etsy! I'm obsessed! hahaha I haven't actually GOT mine yet though, it's being made smile but they had tons of neat options in a range of price points! I didn't find anything I liked in stores. Yey for bridesmaid dresses and accessories!! Mine should be in any day now and I'm also antsy to get their shoes/jewelry purchases out of the way. I'm most excited to see how all of their very different dresses look together! As for registering, I did most of mine online after I started it in the store wink

holy cow - under 3 months!!

I haven't been on here in ages...I forced myself into assembing/addressing the invites and not playing on the internet till I was finished - just mailed them yesterday!

Brown - great house! are you loving living in it? smile

Meechie - love your dress! You look beautiful! And you're house is lovely too - hope it sells quickly smile

Jules - I agree with Woodsy, great cake toppers on Etsy, I think that's where we're going to get ours from.

AFM
I've been working very diligently on wedding stuff - got the honeymoon registry finished, mailed the invites, sorted out the cupcakes and wedding cake and organized some music (except for the first dance - have any of you picked a song yet?). I had a shower two weeks ago and got the thank yous sent for that.
We had our engagement photo session - super thrilled with how they turned out (here: http://www.fifteenfiftyone.ca/blog/engagement/lisa-mike-engagement/)

Hope you are all well and the planning isn't too hectic!

OMG my coworkers threw me a surprise bridal shower yesterday... what a blast!!
I thought I was going to lunch with a coworker, but when we were heading to other building, the fire alarm was going off and we couldn't enter. So we decided to go around and go outside... where there were fire trucks and fireman (yummy!). I laughed and jokingly tucked my left hand in my pocket as we passed (no ring to see here lol) and as we passed them I see all my coworkers standing outside. I found it odd because our building wasn't having the alarm, but then they all shouted SURPRISE.... they had been set up in the conference room in the other building but had to evacuate when the alarm went off LOL. They thought it was ruined but it actually made everything 100 times better because
1. there were hot firemen everywhere and
2. my friend went over asked them to pose for a picture with me.
Everyone got a good laugh out of that!

The best part was one of the firemen asked me "what's the occasion" and when I told him I am getting married, he said "Well let's make this count" and pulled me in closer haha. SO.MUCH.FUN.
They had games planned and lots of food; even the big boss was there to congratulate me and present me with my gift (gift card for Bed Bath and Beyond).

I'm still so excited about it; it's so touching to know people like you enough to go through all that trouble and as someone who is always the "party planner", I love that they were able to throw a surprise party for ME smile

Awe Meechie that is so fun and exciting! Love how happy you look with the firemen haha. That is really nice when coworkers do fun stuff like that for each other. I know how you feel being the usual office party planner!

Autieli your engagement pics are lovely! What a good looking couple!

100 day mark is here for me today! I am so excited because I got the call yesterday that the bridesmaid dresses are in!!! YEY! Going to Ottawa next weekend to pick them up and shop for accessories with the girls. All of the plans coming together is making me so much more excited and helping me sleep better too haha.

I am recently starting to second guess my veil choice... I haven't bought one yet (still thinking I might make it or order it hand made on my beloved etsy) I was so sure at first that I wanted a chapel length veil... It felt very 'bridal' and elegant, then I stumbled upon this photo on pinterest and fell in LOVE! This dress is very similar to mine (mine is a bit less mermaid shaped) I like that's it's still very obviously bridal but it's a bit of a more modern flirty look. Now I'm thinking shorter veil and also thinking I might want some edging!

Anyone else starting to evolve their bridal look as they go along?

Auntieli good for you for getting your invites out an so much planning crossed off the to do list!

I am finding picking songs really hard too... Thinking about doing old faithful 'Your Song' sung by Sir Elton John himself. I wanted 'I Belong to You' by Lenny Kravitz as I am a die hard fan but Brad wanted some country song (so not a fan of the whole genre) so we're compromising haha. Good luck!

Wow! You girls have been chatty!

Meechie-Your dress looks great! That's so exciting that it's in! I went to try on the sample of my dress the other day and they said my dress would be in in July or beginning of August. Seems to far away frown Your place looks great! I hope it sells fast! Also that's really sweet that your co-workers organized a surprise shower for you!

honeypie-We ordered through Tip Top Tailors, but I think it's the same thing as Freeman, as the catalog was the same. They had the actual tux in the window so although my fiance couldn't try the actual tux, we got to see it in person.

Lysh-I had my first bridal shower this weekend too! We got soo spoiled and we don't really have anywhere to put the new stuff right now! Good for you for already getting the thank you cards done. I'm going to try to do them today and tomorrow. That is tough with your bridesmaid who doesn't seem as interested. Maybe it's because she's out of town and feeling out of the loop?

browntown-I think getting your invites out by next week is totally OK! Especially if you sent save the dates. We didn't send STD's and we're having an out-of-town wedding, so I was really hoping to get them sent out for the 3 month mark. But looks like it's more like 2.5 months. I thought 2 months was usually would you did for an in-town wedding.

Jules-I would suggest Etsy for a cake topper too. I've seen some super cute ones on there. That's exciting your bridesmaid dresses are in transit! Did you order them to the States? I think we ordered ours around the same time, so hopefully mine will be here soon too! My bridesmaids picked silver flat sandals for them to wear. They're pretty neutral and I think they'll wear them again. I'll try to post a link: http://www.stevemadden.com/Item.aspx?id=61717&np=707_855

Auntieli-Your engagement photos are gorgeous! Love the places you got the photos taken too! We didn't so engagement photos but I'm kinda regretting it after seeing yours!

WoodsyGal-That's exciting that your bridesmaid dresses are in! I really like that veil you posted. You're right - more of a modern flirty look. I think it's common for your bridal look to change and everything starts to come together, because then you can really picture how everything will look!

AFM-I sent out our invites on Monday and guests have started receiving them! So exciting. They turned out really nicely, not bad for a groupon! I tried on the sample dress of my dress last week to show my sister and to make a decision on a veil. I'm really torn on a veil but I just feel it's not "me", so I think I'm going to pass. I hope I don't regret my decision! I found a cute headband to wear that adds a little bling too.

I'm trying to start thinking about details like table numbers, escort cards etc. We have decided to have homemade jam as our favours and my fiance's grandma is kindly making it for us. I bought some cute fabric to decorate the top of the jam jars.

I still feel like I have a lot of time but I know I don't...

Thanks for the information on the tuxes. I will try some of those places. Maybe it was just the store that I went to that didn't have any swatches of colour.

Auntieli- I love your engagement photos. My favourite is the one of you two sitting on the train tracks kissing. So beautiful. We finally set a date to get our engagement photos done in mid July. It's a little later then I expected but my sister-in-law, who is a wedding photographer in Toronto, will get them done in good time.

Love both of your Houses Browntown & Meechie!! I hope Meechie that yours sells quickly.

I can't believe how many showers everyone is having. I am from a small town so it is traditional that we do one large community shower which will most likely be in August. My stagette is the end of August too. It feels so far away.

We have picked 'When you Say Nothing at all' by Allison Kraus for our first song. I am country all the way so a lot of my songs picked reflect that.

Nothing else is new on my end. I am going to a wedding on Saturday so maybe I will pick up some more ideas.:)

Oh Honey, I love that song - makes me tear up every single time! (the Allison Kraus version is my fave too wink
I have a wedding to attend on Saturday too; I think it's really gonna get me excited for ours wink

Woodsy - that veil is gorgeous!! It's a really tough decision tho eh? I think one of my biggest and hardest decisions is my hair and accessories. I'm doing a bird cage but I only confirmed that last weekend when I tried my dress on.

TNT - I do a thread on a forum on theknot.com on Mondays for DIY projects and I've done some for all those little details... maybe I could post them here too for you ladies??

As for me, the house is not sold and we just aren't getting people coming through. We are so disappointed and frustrated. We know it's only been a week but we need to sell ASAP. The stress is really getting to me frown

So I just had to share that i made my purchase off etsy last week! I feel so behind on the times haha. Very cool site though, thanks everyone for suggesting! I ordered our non guest book guest book...a picture of a tree that people sign their names on. Thought about the thumb print, but I think it'll just be a tad to messy! Still on the search for a cake topper...I don't know if i'm picky or what but i'm not really finding anything I like which is interesting considering I don't even want to have a cake ha.

All my bm's dresses came in and I picked them up this weekend! I ordered 7 off bestbridalprices.com and they are exactly the same as the one's we tried on at the bridal store out here but we paid $100 less! Point for Jules!

Can anyone tell me if i can upload a picture from my pictures on my computer and post it here? I'd love to share some pics with you!

Really nothing wedding related going on this week here..except maybe trying to kick this disgusting addiction i have to sour cream and bacon chips! I really need to watch my food as the seamstress is takin off so much of the dress i dont have an option to get fatter haha. Im getting my hair colored on Tuesday to try and get to my ideal color i want for the wedding, it could take a bit of work as i decided to dye my hair black in some parts...tres chic but not wedding.

Im joining all you ladies who have been doing reno's this week as I've got 4 different paint companies coming by to give us estimates on cost for paiting the entire joint, im excited to finally paint our ghost white walls...maybe it will finally start to feel like home over here frown

So I still have a few more days before I'm under 3 months, does anybody mind if I cheat and come here anyway? tongueold

You ladies have been so chatty! It is late so I'm just going to post a quick update on my end, I hope that's all right. FH and I had our engagement shoot last Friday, we had such a great time! Our invites have been ordered, but the stress from that front won't be completely gone until we get all of the addresses - we ordered printing addresses on the envelope and they'll need them next week. Need to get moving on that! We also met again with the DJ and gave him a post-dated cheque to make it official on that front. The bridesmaid dresses also all came in, and today my mom got a call saying her dress was in as well! Ah, and of course, we booked our honeymoon! Bahamas, here we come!

So, current things on the to-do list: get further in looking for a new place (we're hoping to move into an apartment around Aug. 1), collect more guest addresses, get further on the registry (started at both The Bay and Home Outfitters but need to actually put items on the lists!), and according to The Knot we need to think about wedding favours and a couple other odds and ends.

So things are coming along ok, but there is still so much to do!

Whoo! It worked! Alright here's a link to me in my dress. And i put a sun over my face as i was making dumb faces at my bff but am not ready for the rest of the world to see it haha.

My dress front!

Dress back with bustle

I don't have a pic of the train on the dress as i was there to get it bustled but it's pretty short...like maybe 2 feet behind me.

Went to Michaels tonight to find ribbon to put around the bottom of the cake i dont really want and I lucked out and got an exact match to my bm's dresses! And the whole roll was on sale for $4.00 to boot, what a steal lol.

My manfriend got fitted for his tux today too and got everything set up for the other boys. It's nice to have that out of the way! We ended up going with the CK one too like many other's on here.

Jules - use the "IMG" code and the pic will show up in the thread wink

Lysh- BIG check! Way to go!

DayDreamer - Bahamas is beautiful - great choice! It's a little crazy that we've moved into this thread... eeeek!

Well, WE SOLD the house! YEEEHAWW! One BIG check off my BIG list of to-dos lol
So I can now focus back on Wedding (and my son's bday party). We move August 10th which gives us 5 weeks before the wedding - I think that's plenty of time to get settled in. We're going to have the rehearsal dinner there now which will be fabulous wink

On the wedding front, more and more RSVPs are coming in and the excitement is growing. We were at a wedding on Saturday and it really just got me revved for ours smile
My goals this week are to finish my kissing balls, trace all the pockets for the "tears of joy" packs, make an official RD guest list and finalized the wedding day time line/songs (pretty much done already - just needs a little tweaking).
Last week I printed a calendar of the next 3 months and made a schedule for all my to-dos so that made me feel better lol

Alright, I'm finally all caught up!

Meechie, CONGRATS on selling the house! That much be such a huge weight off your shoulders! And what an awesome story about the shower your coworkers threw for you. The firemen, what an awesome bonus! Haha!

Browntown, I think 2 months is just enough time. Since you sent STD cards as well, I think it's perfect, people were already given the head's up. smile We're sending them about 2.5 months ahead and having the RSVP date just over a month ahead, hopefully if everything goes well it will be just enough time. I can't see your video yet, but I'm sure the place looks great!

TnT, mmm, handmade jam, that sounds delicious! I'm a little jealous, haha. That's very kind of your fiance's grandma to make it!

Jules, your dress is pretty! We're actually at similar spots for our registry/showers - mine (whoops, not-so-secret) is in mid-August as well, and we've only got a grand whooping 1 thing on our registries so far! LOL! I think we'll pop in the stores during the week sometime and have fun with the scanners.

Auntieli, your engagement pictures are stunning! I really like the ones on the train tracks, they turned out so cool and funky!

Lysh, congrats on sending out the invites! I feel your pain about the bridesmaid dilemma. If it's still bugging you (I know you posted a week ago about it) I'd jut talk to her and let her know how you feel. I also think though, that maybe she is just feeling left out because she is so far away! Remind her that you would really love to include her. smile

Woodsy, I know what you mean about second-guessing and evolving the wedding look, I think almost everybody evolves it a least a little bit at some point! Are you able to try on different styles and lengths with the dress? For me, that's about the only way I'm going to be able to decide on a veil... well, that and opinions from my hair stylist! Which reminds me, I need to set up a trial/appointment/something with her soon so she can see pictures of the dress!

honey_pie, what kind of ideas have you found for your ceremony programs? I haven't been thinking too hard about them yet, I'm feeling quite clueless with it. I found an old program from FH's cousin's wedding a couple years back, so that helps, but I'd love to see more ideas.

JulesD44: I love your dress. It is so beautiful. I am so jealous of all you ladies getting to try on your dresses. I have to wait until July 21st frown.

Daydreamer: Definitely no problem that you joined the thread as I'm behind you in wedding dates haha. I am so stuck on programs. I am thinking of getting card stock from Michaels but it is kind of expensive. I need it to go with my colours of brown and champagne. I was thinking Brown background and three different sizes of ivory paper on front with wedding details kind of attached together and you can just flip over if you know what I mean.

Meechie: Congrats on selling the house!! That is great. I am also jealous of your organizational skills. I think doing a calender now would overwhelm me.

AFM: Went to a wedding this weekend and had so much fun with my family. It just gets me so excited for mine. Also gave me a heads up on a few things with regards to my family lol. Other then that I am just enjoying getting the replies in for the wedding. I also took your idea Meechie on the pashminas and ordered one eggplant and 4 ivory ones. Can't wait for them to come in.

Lysh - Sorry to hear that you're having bridesmaid troubles, it must be frustrating. This is probably close to what everyone else said but it's probably hard for her too, with the distance. She probably wants to be here for everything, but probably feels a little disconnected from everything too, not being close enough to partake in the events. Also, I think a lot of bridesmaids take on weddings not realizing how much it costs to be in one. I was in my first wedding last year, and was very surprised at how much I put into it money-wise. I didn't feel like I got a lot of support from the rest of the wedding party, it was easier to do some things on my own instead of butting heads trying to collaborate with the other girls, so all in all, I think I calculated that I spent close to $2000 to be in my friend's wedding, with only $150 of that going to the dress and shoes. Maybe it's the cost of attire, flights, and accommodations all together? It sounds like you've gotten a lot done though, getting invites ready to send is a BIG job! Congrats on getting them in the mail, mine are going out this week!

Jules - No staging, that's just us! We're not selling the place, we just moved in. I think that once we're ready to move on to a bigger place, we'll just keep this house and rent it out. How was the Bath and Body Works sale!? Dying to know.. I've been trying to stay out of malls to curb my spending tongueold

Auntieli - Your pictures look awesome! Where was the shoot? We're still having a tough time deciding on music. We had a song that we talked about using as our first dance, it was a song that we really loved when we first started dating.. FH has his heart set on that, because we said we'd use that like.. 5 years ago. I feel that we've changed so much, and that song doesn't really do anything for me anymore, but we have such different tastes in music. I don't know what to do about that one...

Meechie - Looks like your surprise shower at work was a blast! That was really nice of them to throw that for you! Congrats on selling the house, too, I know you were stressing about it last week!

I finished assembling the invites yesterday, so now they're all in a bag ready to go to the post office. I can't WAIT to get those out of my house. I haven't been able to use my dining room table in two weeks! I had my shower on the Saturday before last too, and they did such a nice job. I mailed the thank you cards out yesterday. I don't know if I'll ever find space for everything in the kitchen, I look back and wish I had spread registry items throughout the house!! I keep reminding myself that we were replacing our old things, so what I really need to do is go through my kitchen and set aside the old stuff for a yard sale at the end of September or something.

Nothing exciting over here now, just emailing all of the vendors to touch base and make sure that they have everything they need from me. Meeting with the florist next week to talk centerpieces, and just emailed to book an appointment for alterations! I can't wait for the summer to be over and for the wedding to be here! The rest of my 'big work' has to wait until I get RSVPs back. I'm going to make the escort cards, table numbers, and a tag for favors. We're in the home stretch ladies!

Isn't it crazy how close we are all getting to the big day?? I'm getting so excited. I have moments of "holy BLEEP" and a bit of panic but mostly just butterflies and excitement. Now that the house is sold and we know we are moving, I feel even more excited about it; we will start the next chapter of our lives in our new home as a family. It makes me smile smile

I finished up the next round of invites (reception only) but I'm still fuming over the fact that FI decided to add another 12 guests (plus their dates) on Sunday!! ACK! Seriously? I didn't order many extra invitations/supplies because we'd finalized the lists ages ago (after many many many reviews) and now I had to improvise and make some belly bands (because I had no more pockets) and buy more stamps; not to mention the extra time to make them when I had already done all the prep work. He thinks I'm being a [censored] for being mad about it and says "sorry for having friends" - he just really doesn't get it. Ugh.

JulesD44 - Thanks for the tip about BBW! I went there and got some pretty great deals on handsoaps for the bathrooms at the wedding, as well as a few extra items for me! I went on the weekend and was able to use a $10 off coupon, as well as the 10% off! A heads up - there is a coupon floating around for 20% off starting June 24th (I'm sure you probably have it already wink As for the painting - at least you have people coming to do it for you! We have re-painted every wall, baseboard, piece of trim and ceilings on our whole main floor, and it was not fun at all. I love your dress! It definitely suits you!

WoodsyGal4 - Yes - I think another trial will be needed. Once my mom sends me the pics from my shower, I'll post and let you ladies have a peek at what I thought I wanted to do with my hair. Back to the drawing board.... As for veils: I'm still up in the air on what I want. I'm in the process of making a DIY birdcage veil - once I get that done I want to go and try it on with my dress. I definitely didn't like the look of a long veil on me.

auntieli - I love your e-pics! They turned out so good! We did e-pics back in the fall and, to-date, they are still my favourite pics of FH and I. As for our first dance song, we are using "History in the making" by Darius Rucker. The song came out when we first started dating and kind of became a song we both really liked. To make it even better, one of the groomsmen will be playing it on guitar for us at our wedding! I'm so excited for that! As for the rest of songs - that is still on the to-do list.

Meechie - That is so awesome of your co-workers to throw a surprise shower for you! And, to top it off, the firefighters! It sounds like it was such a fun day! And CONGRATS on selling the house!!! I bet you and FH are super excited about your new home! It's so great it sold quick! That is not something you want to be stressing over right before the wedding! I printed off monthly calendars last month and I cringe everytime I look at it. Even more frightening is that the days seem to be going by quicker and quicker... As for FH adding 12 extra guests at this point, I'd be a little upset too! You should have had him make up those extra invites - maybe he wouldn't really want to invite those extra guests? lol.

TnT - Good job getting the invites out! Doesn't it feel GREAT to have those done and out?! Such a huge item off the list! And,I love the homemade jam idea! I was thinking of doing jam as well, but we decided to go with a charity donation instead.

honeypie - Can you explain what exactly a "community shower" entails?! I feel silly asking, but I am living in a small town now, and always see annoucements in the paper about them and I have never seen them living in Windsor.

daydreamer- Bahamas sounds amazing! What resort will you be staying at? I'd love to see it! We are still trying to figure out where we want to go for the honeymoon - since FH lost his job in Feb and we are only living on my salary, I think Fiji is out of the question...and that was really the only place I had my heart set on. But Bahamas, Hawaii, Aruba and Turks and Caicos are still on the list.

browntown - Good job on the invites too! I know what it's like to have the dining room table back, finally tongueold And, as for not having room for all the shower items, you're not the only one! We have packed up 4 boxes of "old" items that we are giving to my younger brother who is getting his own place, but still do not have room for all the new toys we got. I do have to say though that it is so nice to have upgraded some small appliances and to have new bath towels! They always feel better when they're plush! I can't imagine where things from my second shower will go..

AFM:

I have mostly been relaxing these past few days. I spent the good portion of last week re-organizing the house to accommodate all the new items from the bridal shower, and doing the invites and thank you cards that I really didnt have the motivation to do much wedding related stuff this weekend.

As for the bridesmaid issue: I tried messaging her (as phone is just not working with our schedules) and it's been 5 days and still no response. Talking with my MOH, I have come to learn that, despite her complaining about cost, and money for my wedding, she has booked herself a flight to go to visit another friend for 2 weeks before our wedding. I will be sending out an email to all the ladies this week to just go over some stuff for the wedding - and go from there. Ah.

FH and I really need to start figuring out where we want to go for our honeymoon! I started looking at some prices today and different options and I am so torn on where to go, especially since my number one choice, Fiji, is out of the question. I did find some pretty good groupon deals for AI in the caribben so I think I will check out some of the resorts.

Other than that, just keeping cool inside as this darn weather is pretty gross! I love summer, but 42 degrees with humidity is just plain gross.

OH that number jumped to 20... I swear it's a test... either than or he's adding more so that I have more envelopes to lick and he's hoping for a Seinfield ending lol
He did help me put them together last night so that helped - It's all done!

I'm so debating taking today off so that I can get some work done and get the house cleaned for the inspection tomorrow. I am not taking any holidays this summer (i'll be taking 2 weeks in September) and I really feel like I need a break.

Man is it ever hot!! I love heat but wowzers!! Hopefully we can make it to the cottage this weekend and enjoy some of it!

Lysh - we haven't officially decided on HM either.. Fiji would be amazing! We are waiting until the winter to go away and depending where we are at financially, we may just book a last minute deal to Jamaica or something. If we had all the money in the world, Turks and Caicos would be awesome, but we aren't quite able to afford that just yet tongueold

Lysh - we're going to be staying at Atlantis. I've been there before with my family, but FH and I are going to be splurging and staying at the Cove - they have an AMAZING Fall sale going on for the rooms that I just couldn't pass up (took a little bit of work to find a middle-ground with FH in regards to what to spend, but we are both happy with it). I know what you mean about Fiji though, I would have LOVED to do that, but FH has travel anxiety and it's just too far out of his comfort zone for him. Maybe one day for a big anniversary trip...? *Sigh*

Sorry to hear about the bridesmaid problems though. Hopefully the email will go alright and things will become clear soon.

Meechie - holy smokes 20 extra people?! Is FH aware of the extra cost associated with hosting them all? Sorry he sprung that on you so close!

AFM: Not much new to report, we're going to go looking for apartments very soon. The original plan was to wait for FH to move in on his own around September 1st (why so close?!), but it's changed now that we're moving into our new place together (wherever it is) July 1st, and now he's worried that we won't have enough time to find a place. I think it'll be fine... It'll be tight, but fine... (Why do I feel like those are somebody's famous last words?)

Holy Moly 3 months today! And my invitations came in the mail today - YAY!! They even made it over the border sans duty wink lucky! I changed the colors a bit after the sample she sent me and they turned out really great. It's so fun to see all of the stuff I've been working with the designer on for months come to life! Now to stop procrastinating on the map insert so we can get those addressed and sent.

Big day of bridesmaid accessory shopping tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to it! Have to pick up some crafting supplies too while I'm in the land of real stores. Also going to treat myself to some new lululemon with some gift cards I got as late bridal shower gifts - thank you mother and sister in laws to be!!

I love hearing where all of you gals are at but I feel so behind in the thread after a few days! haha I kind of went on strike this week... my hair trial did not go very well last weekend and it really upset me. Since I don't have my dress, shoes, veil, accessories or any of that yet I had REALLY been placing a lot of hope on my hair. I showed her some photos... and we chatted and seemed to be on the same page... beginning of what she was doing looked good. Then when she got to the top/front it just all went wrong. Instead of looking romantic and timeless with some flattering volume it turned out flat with a really retro look to it - WTF!? I was 2 hours in and her next appointment was waiting (not to mention she seemed VERY proud of her creation) so I just paid and left. It wasn't ugly by any means but it was so far from the look I had been going for it was a bit like "great so this isn't going to be easy to figure out either!". To sum up I tasked my trendy nail tech younger sister with finding me a new hair salon - she's going to scope out prom updos since she's not much older than the girls haha. Here's hoping she finds something!

Your projects are looking great as usual Meechie!

And your dress is beautiful Jules!

So fun so many of you have your invites out now and are getting replies! I can't believe how close it's getting! Now that it's officially "summer" it's really hitting home that time is a ticking! smile Exciting!

Oh yes and I wanted to ask everyone's opinion!

Bed Bath and Beyond gave me all of these cards with our registry number on it... I have heard a lot of people say it's tacky to put them in the invites.. but then a lot of our guests are already asking about what to get us...

Should I stick to letting the bridal party spread the word or just throw the cards in there? I'm torn... I don't want people to feel like they're obligated!

Woodsygal - sorry to hear your trial didn't go so great frown i completely know how you feel! And it does really put you behind... Good thinking on judging the prom hairstyles - hopefully you'll be able to find someone who can create exactly what you're looking for. (as a side note, the hair person I booked and had my trial with that I didn't like did my sisters hair for prom and hers turned out beautiful) Argh to hair trials!

As for the registry cards,... I personally did not put them in my invitations, but I did include my wedding website so that people could check it out, and my registry information was on the site. The wedding websites are pretty quick and easy to create - maybe you could do that instead and add a small insert about your website?

We did, however, receive an invitation to a wedding last week that included gift registry cards...

Your choice, really. I would suggest using a wedding website to announce it.

If you want to see how I did it, check mine out:

www.ourhistoryinthemaking2012.weddingbells.ca

Meechie - I love the birdcage card holder. I wanted to use one as well but was having a hard time finding a pink or brown one without repainting it, so I'm creating my own cardbox. And I think FH has a future in card making! Lol

This is how I wrote mine:

Married couple:
Mr. Bob and Mrs. Alice Smith
1234 Blackberry Lane
(I don't like Mr. And Mrs. Bob Smith but up to you)

Married couple, different last name:
Mr. Bob Smith and Ms. Alice Clarke
1234 Blackberry Lane

Unmarried couple (living together or not, if not the invite went to whoever we are closer with... Order of names is alphabetical in this situation)
Ms. Alice Clarke
Mr. Bob Smith
1234 Blackberry Lane

I looked up the "rules" and this is what I understood from them...

Ah, but what about the craziness that comes around with "and family"? What about when you're sending an invite to some close cousins when one sibling is in the bridal party and the other is not (and who is turning 17), I'm sending the bridesmaid her own separate invite but do the parents and other cousin get one invite and how is it addressed?

Mr. Bob and Mrs. Alice Smith
and Goober Smith
1234 Blackberry Lane

Or should it be "and Goober"? Or just "Goober Smith" or "Goober"? Or leave it out from the outer envelope entirely? Or does Goober get their own invite?

I am slowly going crazy, 1 2 3 4 5 6 switch...

Daydreamer you seemed very stressed with addressing the labels. I didn't follow any rules for mine. I didn't do the Mr & Mrs thing.

John & Jane Doe
Sarah, Mike & Luke
1234 Blah Blah Lane...

I personally didn't like the Mr & Mrs. John Doe idea. I figure no one really knows that rules so you can basically do what looks good to you.

Lysh a community shower for my small town is where your family plans a large shower for everyone invited to your wedding to attend. In this case my 9 aunts will be planning in at our local church hall and they will invite everyone from my guest list. It's just a way to have everyone come to one instead of having three-four different ones. So both sides of family will be invited. Its a lot of fun. I've been to my fair share of them.

Is everyone doing invites for the rehearsal dinner? I always that was just through word of mouth. I didn't know I was supposed to send out invites.

WoodysGala I think it is just your preference for what you want to do for the registry cards. I didn't put them in mine but it was because I forgot about them. It's about 50/50 I would say. I don't think it looks tacky though.

AFM:
Today i had to go and add new items to my registry because half of it is now discontinued. I am a little disappointed because I really loved some of the stuff I had chosen.

We booked our hotel for Niagara Falls after the wedding. We are going to go away for our official honeymoon in March but I still need to get away for a few days and I love Niagara. I am very jealous Daydreamer as I have always wanted to go to Atlantis. It looks amazing.

My dress came in!!! I am so excited. Now I just have to wait until July 21st to try it on.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. smile

Ohhh THOSE rules!

I didn't really think about it... but on my save the dates I did:

John and Jane Doe
Address

or

John Wayne and Jane Doe
Address

or

John and Jane Doe and Family (if I was inviting all of their kids, or I named the older children if I was only inviting them)

Thats so exciting Honey! Why so long to go see it? Out of town?

Lysh - I am spinning about the hair! I have talked to a few people now who loved their trials and didn't get the same result on the day of even with the same hair dresser! I am definitely going to do a second trial... I am going to try to scope out wedding hairstyles over the next bit - small towns have some perks haha.

I think I am going to leave the registry cards out... and give them to the bridal party and our parents in case anyone asks haha. As for a website - it's a good idea but I don't want to add anything else seperate into the invites at this point!

Well the bridesmaid dresses are home! It was so exciting to see them, I love how they all look together. Man are some of them bigger than the measurements though! Obviously the fitted looking dresses still left some wiggle room in the hips on the size chart. We bought matching earrings for all 6 girls and 4/6 of them now have their shoes - they have all picked flat sandals so far! we're going to be one comfy bridal party haha.

Now to find the motivation to address invites... I am scared to take them out of the packaging they came in LOL

Rules schmules lol
I followed the "rules" that worked for us and said damn the man to anything that seemed ridiculous. It's YOUR wedding chickie! If you wanna write goober on the invite - do it! We actually wrote "Cedric" for a guy whose name is "Andre" LOL (it's an inside joke and FI insisted the invite be addressed that way wink

We are sending a rehearsal invite just because it's going to be at our NEW home and we excited about that lol And I got a really great deal from VP so it was cheap tongueold
Depending on the formality, you may wish to send one but I don't think it's a must by any means.

So we officially sold the house and all the papers are signed - and the SOLD sign is UP! We did that on Friday before we left for the cottage so it was a GREAT weekend! I was able to really relax and still get the rest of my kissing balls done this weekend wink I'm sticking to my "schedule" wink
