Gahhh.. I had a freak out this afternoon!

My sister told me to check one of my bridesmaids Twitter feed, and she posted a pic of herself from an event she went to last night, in the dress she bought for the wedding!!

I asked the girls to pick their own dresses, the only specification was black and knee length, and something they'd wear again. I didn't think that my wedding would be the event they wore it to "again". Anyways, we talked it out, and she realizes now why I was a little grumpy about it. I kind of explained the feeling I got when I was a bridesmaid, and how I felt getting into the full getup they day of the wedding. It felt special to see it all come together for the first time with the hair, makeup, and with the other girls. I told her that I hoped that she still gets that feeling when she wears it again for the wedding, because she kind of had most of "that moment" last night.

On a lighter note, my invitations are out making their way around the world now. I feel much better about that now! Speaking of, I went this route for addressing them:

Mrs. and Mrs. John Doe
(and family, or and kid 1)

I googled until I thought my eyes would bleed, and then bit the bullet and did it.

Meechie - Congrats on selling the house! Must feel great to have that out of the way!

Hey there ladies, how was everybody's long weekend?

As you could likely tell from my last couple of posts here, I've been crazy stressed out lately. We shifted gears completely from wedding planning to finding a new place to move into before the wedding. Great news is, we found a condo to rent that we both really like! Huzzah! Credit reports have been done, today we will both get letters of employment, and we'll fill in the application form, and then... Crap, what happens then? Do we move in right away? Do we wait a couple of weeks to scrounge some things together? I don't know... Just trying to take it one day at a time!

Anyway, back on wedding news, the invitations should be ready for us to pick up tomorrow. I had my second dress fitting on Saturday and scheduled another (pics will come soon, I promise!), and we'll likely be going to scan things for our registry sometime very very soon.

Meechie - congrats on selling the house! That is awesome, it must feel like such a relief to get that done!

Browntown - oh no, I would be upset with the dress situation too! It's great that you were able to talk to her about it though, and even better that she realizes why you were grumpy about it. Awesome that your invitations are en route now! Fingers crossed you get some responses soon!

Daydreamer - that's great news! I'm so happy you found a place and that you have stress off your plate!

Brown - as if she wore the dress BEFORe your wedding! And got caught! Oopsie! It's great that you guy can talk it out and express your feelings; I hope it doesn't cause any friction between you guys. And yay for invites! It's really happening eh?

As for me, we had a great long weekend at the cottage and I'm technically still "off" because I took Tuesday/Wednesday off work as well smile
We got our marriage license yesterday ($160 - seriously??) and met with the Pastor to go over some details. Unfortunately, I was so upset with the Pastor that I walked out. I've already sacrificed so much for this ceremony (not sure if you remember all the issues) and now they won't allow my son to be included in any part of the ceremony (other than be the ring bearer). Just typing that makes me cry... he means the world to me and this commitment includes him - we are kind of a package deal. I had a special ring made for him which we planned to give him after our ring exchange; it was our way of committing to being patient and loving parents as well as partners. The Pastor made a comment about how he doesn't need a ring to know we'll be his parents... well technically FI and I don't need rings to know that we're committed to each other either! I was just too upset and didn't want to say something I'd regret, so I left. FI was mad at me but he would have been much more embarrassed if I'd expressed myself - trust me.
Anyhoo, I feel so confused and upset and frustrated with all of this. I don't know what to do. I'm worried that I'll be bitter and angry on the wedding day and in the future when looking back on our experience because I really feel like the ceremony will have nothing to do with me or my son. I don't want to regret anything but I also want to respect FI's wishes and not piss off his entire family from day one. At this point, I really just want to skip the ceremony completely; maybe we could go back to city hall and do it there... I dunno.

On a lighter note, I'm having another makeup trial done today as well as my hair trial - so that should be fun smile
Thursday night is my "bachelorette" with the ladies from work - we're going to Moxie's for dinner and then to see Magic Mike wink
Friday, FI and I are going to see David Gray at Bluesfest - he sings our first dance song smile

Meechie-I LOVE David Gray! I've seen him in concert twice. What song is your first dance song? We're still looking for one. That totally sucks about not being able to include your son in the ceremony. It seems really unfair. Good for you or walking out rather than saying something you regret. I hope you're able to come to some sort of compromise. It is hard to feel like you are really compromising right from the start. Keep us updated!

DayDreamer-congrats on finding the condo! Can't wait to see photos of your dress!

AFM-this weekend we finished decorating the jam jars for our favours and have almost finished the programs. We're doing a cute fan-type thing. I really like it. Our wedding bands came in and we both love them! I can't wait to wear mine. I'll have to wait awhile since we won't be taking them with us to Turkey! Still gotta think about table numbers. I bought some cheap frames from Michael's. Still waiting for my bridesmaid dresses and my dress won't be in until the end of July! Eek!

FI and I had a good chat last night but we have not made any official decisions yet. The Pastor is going to review the family unity ceremony we requested and get back to us with his final answer, and we'll go from there. He could very well decide not to marry us, which in a way, would be a blessing tongueold It would mean a lot of extra work for me to re-plan the day and details but I'd be happy to hire an officiant and have the ceremony somewhere else.

I had my hair trial last night and I'm so happy with the results! I was so worried that nothing could be done with my short hair but it looks so pretty smile
I'll be making a more feathery hairclip which will suit the dress a bit more, but I do like the flower (size and placement are perfect).

Well ladies I am officially able to join this thread now that I am under 3 months (even though it wasn't stopping from posting up until now ;)).

Meechie your hair looks great. I haven't even looked at what I want yet for hair. I'm planning to go in August. I want to wait until I get my veil and see about a tiara. Only 2 weeks until I get to try on my dress for my first fitting. I am so excited.

I hope the pastor comes back and agrees to including your son Meechie. I agree that this commitment involves him just as much. Hope it works out.

AFM: I finally found a style that I like for the programs. I decided on a multi layered template that I found on a wedding bees forum. I have been working on the formatting for a couple weeks now so I am excited to soon start printing. I just need to confirm readers and finalize layout of ceremony.

I got the pashminas in from Etsy and absolutely love them (thanks Meechie for the idea). I am so excited to give them to the girls.

We went to Moores to look at some swatches for tuxes. Ladies what do you think of black tuxes with chocolate brown vests and ties? Do you think it goes? I wasn't planning on doing that because I did think the colours would compliment but the girl at the store thought it would. We were thinking brown for groomsmen and champagne vest and tie for groom.

Honey - I googled the black with brown tux because I wasn't sure how that would look, but it's very nice (I guess the girl at the store knew what she was talking about lol)
I'm glad the pashminas worked out - I love the ones I ordered. They really make great gifts for any occasion.

Meechie - your hair looked awesome! It's tempting me to cut my hair short.

Afm:

We are slowly getting reply cards back! It's exciting to see who sends one each day! We didn't get mail on Friday last week, and I was a bit bummed! I love getting mail!

I called the bridal store last week to set up an appointment with their seamstress, and got an estimate on my alterations over the phone - $500 + just for my hem line! Yikes! Then I called a seamstress in Windsor, and she's going to do my hem and bust for $140! And she is a very well known seamstress! Needless to say, I am making an unexpected trip to Windsor this weekend for my first dress fitting! So excited!

I am also having my second bridal shower this weekend! FH's aunt is throwing me one. I'm a little nervous about how it will go as I hardly know any of the people who have been invited.

And as for my hair - I've been back and forth all week about cutting it! Ive been growing it for over a year, but was not happy with my trial. Looking back at pictures of me from the last few years, my hair has always looked great short and curled. My mom says not to cut it; FH says cut it if I'll be happy. I don't want to regret if I cut it... Ahh!

Everyone must be uber busy planning away... or maybe you are trying exert as little energy as possible in this heat! I can't wait to get to the cottage tomorrow night and spend the rest of the weekend in my bikini!

Update re: church... The Pastor said no, officially. FI and I had a loooooong chat about this. I really didn't want to get married in the church but I also didn't want to start off our marriage having his entire family upset or hating me. We decided that we'd do a special family unity ceremony at the rehearsal dinner so that we'd still be doing "our" thing and then go through the church ceremony for the family and such. My son is allowed to walk me down the aisle, so at least he'll be included there. I'm just so fed up with the church "rules".

I've been working away at my son's birthday party projects; you know me and all my DIYing! haha His party is next Sunday and it's coming together nicely. I still have the baking to do but man do I ever NOT want to do that in this heat!

I ordered a few items from VP this week seeing as almost everything was 50% and free shipping with an order of $25. GREAT prices! I made rack cards for our guests taking our bus tour (below) and I had a couple shirts made; one for me and one for FI. I also got the BM a gift; he's an office guy and uber geeky so I think he'll get a kick out of his personalized business card holder and pen with his "credentials".

Rack Card (bus tour):

Back:

Holder/Pen:

Tshirts:

(the back has a small traffic light with our wed date)

OH I almost forgot! The mobile hair salon owner called me yesterday to tell me that the girl who did my trial didn't show up to do a wedding over the weekend. *** JAW DROP**** Can you imagine??? The owner was so embarrassed as she's never had to make a call like this before. Luckily she always keeps another stylist on stand-by but she's never had this happen. Anyhoo, she is assigning me one of her top stylist for Sept 15 and is giving me a free trial with her. She was really sweet and I really appreciated her honesty.

Ok one more thing and I'll shut up... I started taking folic acid this week and scheduled the removal of my IUD for September 24th. I met with my doc this week to discuss my pre-pregnancy plan so hopefully all goes well in September wink

Oh God, the craziness that has happened since my last post. Short version of the story - invitations came in, had a minor freak-out because, once again, the post office said the RSVP envelopes were too small, but after the freak-out ended we decided to go with popular opinion and send them out anyway. Got everything assembled and stamped and ready to go, only to realize that the postal codes on most of the invitations were wrong! GAH! The invitation company was apologetic and quick to reprint the envelopes, and were extra-accomodating and gave me extra inner-envelopes when I asked, so in the end it turned out ok, everything is mailed and we've started to hear back from people saying they thought the invites were gorgeous. So all is well. But God, was that stressful. I definitely had a couple of drinks during those few days...

I need to get back on track with the wedding thing after thinking/prepping for moving. I'm still torn over what to do for favours! We're doing the candy-covered almonds, but we need to attach them to something too, especially for the guests who are allergic to almonds, they need something else. But I'm at a loss. FH thinks, something small and wedding-y, why not wedding bell bubbles? Is it too chincey? I don't know...

Meechie - thank-you for the Etsy link, I'm very tempted to do the same and get pashminas for my girls! I'm sorry your pastor flat-out said no to the involvement of your son, but I'm glad you've still found a way to include him. If I had responded sooner I was actually going to suggest you do it at the reception dinner - FH and I are saying our vows during the reception because it's not allowed in our ceremony. Oh, and your hair is gorgeous! As are your bus tour cards!

Honey_pie - I remember seeing quite a lot of ads for chocolate brown ties/vests, I think it's a slick looking colour combo.

Lysh - glad to hear your replies are coming in! I know it sounds kind of bad, but I'm kind of jealous that you're having your second bridal shower, I'm still waiting for mine. For your hair, can you book another trial or look at other styles you might like? I'm probably just overly cautious, but I'd be really paranoid about cutting it and possibly regretting it after. I'm sure you'll figure out what to do, though!

Yikes, I am under 2 months now!!!

Things are ok on our end. We put together our bed this weekend! We've been doing a lot of shopping (oh how I love sales!) and have been slowly moving stuff into our new place.

Wedding-wise, one of FH's aunts has offered to host a bridal shower for me! Yay! However, since most of the folks from my side of the bridal shower would be going to both hers and the one my mom/cousin were planning for me, my mom has been repeatedly asking if we should just cancel the one she had planned for me. Ouch. I'm trying not to let it bother me, but it kind of stings a bit.

So, in the midst of trying to figure out if I should cancel the bridal shower, FH and I need to figure out our registry situation - what to register for at The Bay and Home Outfitters. Basically I need to go through a list of things, and then show it to FH. Ah, and my mom and I are trying to figure out favours. We figure it is best to look for Greek/Italian favour shops, but we're having a hard time searching for them online.

Will life ever stop being crazy? Haha...

Sorry ladies, I've been checking in to see how you all are doing with your planning, I enjoy reading your updates. I'm less than 6 weeks away now, and honestly freaking out. I feel like every day I go through another wedding meltdown.

Is anyone else getting insane anxiety? It comes up on me quick, and randomly.. all of a sudden Im losing it, can't breathe, and can't deal with it. Fortunately, I work with my sister and we share an office, so she's usually around to tell me to knock it off. It's like everyone else can see that I'm ready, and have everything taken care of except for me.

I hope that you're all doing well, we're in the home stretch now for sure!

Hi ladies, I've been reading along too but haven't had much time to write an update! Last week I had my first wedding disaster, my bridesmaids dresses came in and they weren't the colour I was expecting frown I was considering ordering new dresses from J. Crew but have warmed up to these ones now. I love the style, they're just more of a wine coloured purple than a deep purple. We will make it work though!

Many guests who initially didn't think would be able to make it are now coming, so I think we'll have close to 100! My dress should be in the first week of August so I've booked a dress fitting for me and my bridesmaids. I picked out some earrings today and I don't think I'll wear any other jewelry.

I'm kind of torn on what to get my bridesmaids as a gift. We paid for their dresses so they think that's enough, but I'd like to get them something else as well. I also don't know what to get my parents and my inlaws! Any suggestions??

Also, one more question, how did you girls figure out your timeline for your reception? I don't know where to begin with when we should do speeches etc. anyone want to share? Thanks!

Hi ladies!

I've also been reading along - it seems to take a while to get around to posting these days as I always seem to write a lot. smile

Things have been going good with the wedding planning. A few minor issues have been dealt with and resolved. And a HUGE, major issue was "fixed" today!

Long story, short - one of the groomsmen called up FH last weekend (Friday) and explained that he has to drop out of the wedding party due to financial reasons. (moved to Alberta, new job, bills, etc). I was quite peeved as this groomsmen moved a month and half ago... And just told FH last week. After thinking it over, he called FH back today an said he figures some stuff out and that he will be there. Phew! Major crisis, averted.

We have been getting a steady stream of response cards in, and I still love it! Our mailbox will probably be very empty after the wedding frown we sent out 100 invites, and thus far have received 2 no's and 30 yes'. I know it's horrible to say, but we are counting on more no's, but at the rate the replies are coming in, I think we may be having a 200 person wedding.

FH's aunt and mom threw me a second bridal shower a few weekends ago. I anticipated it was going to be a little awkward, as I haven't met many of FMIL's friends, but it was worse than I imagined! She invited people to the shower who weren't invited to the wedding! Now, I'm all about non-traditional things when it comes to our wedding, but that is not one of them. I ended up talking to FMIL this past weekend and told her that I am inviting those people, or sensing their gifts back. And one person drove 2 hrs to the shower... All in all, it was good, and we got some more great items. And now get to invite more people to our wedding.

I also went for my first dress fitting! I was a little nervous as I have gained 10 pounds since buying my dress, and was hoping everything would still fit. Turns out, they have to take the waist in 5/8 of an inch on each side!! Woohoo! The bust also need taken in, but I assumed that. It was a huge relief to see it fitt, and great news to have it taken in! I go for my second fitting at the end of august.

I am heading for my bachelorette party this weekend with my MoH and another friend. We are heading to Orlando fr 4 nights. I am excited to get away for a few days with some friends! It is much needed right now. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the insanely hot weather Florida is suppose to have! On the plus side, we found a hotel that offers free hot breakfast, and a free "light meal" with free alcoholic beverages!

FH is working on our music list this week. I am hoping to have it almost finalized by the end of the month so we can pass it along to our DJ.

And we STILL need to figure out our honeymoon and ceremony wording.

Browontown - yes! I have been getting very anxious lately! So much to do, so little time!!

TnT - for timeline, I google it. I found some good (and all very different) examples, and chose the one that best fit us. Our looks a bit like this (trying to do it from memory):

5:00 - cocktails & appetizers start
6:00 - introductions of bridal party/bride&groom
6:15 - first dance, ?bridal party dance
6:30 - dinner, dessert
8:00 - cake cutting, speeches, mother/son dance, granddaughter/grandfather dance
10:00 - bouquet/ garter toss (I know it's kind of lame, but I like it. Haha)
11:30 - midnight snack (poutine bar)
00:45 - last dance

Some of the other ones I've seen have done the first dance after dinner... All personal preference.

Hey Ladies!! Glad to see you're all still alive!! Yes, the anxiety is building but now that I have my son's birthday party out of the way, I'm back into wedding planning mode!
BTW, the Super Mario Party was a HOOT! Here is a pic my son and I (I dressed up as Princess Peach) and if you'd like to see more CLICK HERE

Brown - you really are getting UBER close!! Do you need help with anything?
The stress is adding up for sure... I'm trying really hard not to sweat the small stuff but I'm a stickler for details so it's TOUGH!!

TNT - Eeek - I'd be freaking about the dresses! As for gifts, if you paid for their dresses, that is definitely A LOT. You could do something small... I came across this cute idea that would be cheap and sweet (it's a way to ask a BM to stand in your wedding, but it can be changed to be a Thank You note instead) : http://elitevents.blogspot.ca/2010/03/diy-bridesmaid-gift-boxes.html

We officially have LESS than our max ## for the dinner which is a big PHouuuf!
We were so worried to end up with too many ppl. I'll be really happy if we can have 10 less than max (and save some $$). Our deadline is Aug 1, so we're almost there!

Things are running pretty smoothly right now. I did a list yesterday of what I have left to do; both DIY and booking/such. I'm feeling good about where I'm at so the stress has gone down. This is very good because we move in 2 weeks!

I am officially stressed, scared, anxious and about a million other feelings. I keep going over everything and even though I see that I have a handle on things I keep feeling that I am forgetting stuff.

I had my community bridal shower this weekend. There was about 40 women there and I got spoiled. It was a lot of fun. Plus I found out more about who was able to come even though they haven't sent their reply back so that was good as well.

We invited about 179 and I think we are going to be between 140-150. Everyone is coming in from out of town and staying at the same hotel so everyone will be ready for a good time.

My brother who is a groomsman in the wedding is trying to plan a stag/bachelor party for my Fiance this weekend. I am a little stressed about that because fiance's brother who is best man is not helping at all. I just feel bad because my brother is doing everything and even though my fiance wants me to stay out of it and don't worry about it I can't because my parents keep asking me about it and bringing me into it because my brother is stressed over it because he's doing it all on his own. I know it will be fine but I can't wait until this weekend is over.

In other news I did get to have my first fitting on Saturday and I love the dress. I am so excited about it. I picked out a veil and tiara as well. I also brought my MOH with me and she tried on her bridesmaid dress as well. I love them. I am so happy with everything. We also went to moores last weekend and picked the colours for the guys. We got chocolate brown vest and tie for groomsmen and champagne for fiance. It will look great.

Speaking also of attire. My fiance's mom picked her dress and it is the same colour as my mom's. I know they will look completely different but I was still pretty upset. My mom thankfully is fine with it after I told her. I think she was a bit upset at first but is now over it realizing they will be different.

Oh wow. Didn't realize I had so much more news to share. Sorry ladies. I guess quite a bit has happened in the past couple weeks. smile

Hey ladies! Wow lotsa replies to read today smile I have also been following along but haven't had a chance to add anything!

Browntown- I have been freaking out A LOT lately, pretty much haven't been able to sleep without herbal supplements for weeks now, routinely have nightmares about the most bizarre things going wrong, some days I just want to cry I feel so behind in planning! I had a TOTAL meltdown Saturday, cried my face off but I think I needed to get it out of my system. FI took me to Kanata for dinner and a movie to cheer me up smile (we live 1.5 hrs in the direction of the boonies so that's a real treat!) I just have to keep trying and keep trying to remain calm - deep breathes and delegating what you can!

Meechie - your hair trial turned out great! So scary about the stylist not showing up for a wedding though! In glad the company you hired handled it so professionally though. You and your son looked so cute at his birthday!

TNT- my schedule for the reception is almost the exact same as Lysh, I also did some searching and then changed it up to suit our needs. I'm so sorry to hear the bridesmaid dress color isn't what you were expecting frown Glad you can work with it though and that your dress will be in soon!

Lysh I agree that mail won't be the same after the wedding! haha glad to hear your dress fits smile man foes your bachelorette sound awesome, enjoy!! Safe travels

Disclaimer- this is a short novel! Since I last wrote long ago we've made some serious progress and had a few issues. In good news: invites all went out and we're getting RSVPs back (almost down to the hall capacity thank god because I mixed it up and invited 20 ppl too many!), bridesmaids dresses were picked up and they all have their accessories now, flower girl dresses were ordered and they have their shoes, ordered the bridesmaids gifts from a friend of mine who makes custom sterling silver jewelry, booked our antique getaway car, bought our insurance for the honeymoon, had my second hair trial which went MUCH better than the first and booked her, had my makeup trial which went well... Craziness!!

In bad news, we had a groomsmen back out! frown he's likely going to be on training (military at its best) so he didn't want to risk it. We have a replacement now though and he just got fitted for his suit this past weekend. Then there was realizing the hall seats 200 ppl NOT 220... Oops! But that should work out fine. My sisters and friends have been fighting about my bachelorette party and calling me at all hours to complain about one another to me - lovely... Thanks guys. They had best have that sorted out now! But the number one thing I am losing sleep over is my dress!! It's still not in and they still just keep saying 'mid August'... Ahhh!! I tried buying accessories but since I only have one crappy pic I snuck in the change room of me in the dress I can't decide.

Bachelor and bachelorette parties next weekend, I'm trying to be excited but I'm really worried mine is going to turn into a drama filled evening... Ugh. Hopefully not!

I want to share some pics but phoobucket is being a jerk on my phone! frown

OK on the laptop and it's sharing time!

FI working on invites and some stamped RSVP cards

Me and 4 of the 6 bridesmaids the day we picked up their dresses.

My first hair trial which I was not happy with...

(no idea where she got the idea for those weird pin curls!)

And my new hair style that is much closer to what I asked for!

What do you guys think? The shape of the back looks a bit too big on top and a bit too small on bottom, but I really like it from the front.

And lastly some make-up trial action. I removed the red lip I had asked to try because it didn't look like me at all! My sisters say I need the brows toned down, that was my main comment from friends/family I showed but I love the shape overall. I think I want to go with a pink lip and a bit pinker of a cheek color and it will be perfect smile YEY!

WoodysGal4: I love the hair. I am wanting to do a lower hair do as well. I think yours looks classic and timeless. I love the front.
I like the makeup as well. I agree on the eyebrows. I think a soft pink or blush colour would look great on your lips. I go for my trials on August 13th and am now really excited after seeing yours. It looks like fun smile

Ahh thanks guys!

Meechie the hair is fun but can be a hassle, I went between a bob and a pixie cut for years so this length is still fairly new to me! I grew it out last year to stand in 2 friends weddings so when I got engaged shortly after I decided to keep growing it. And the eyelashes... Some of those are mine, and some of them aren't! haha

Honey I'm glad you're excited for your trials! My biggest advice is to be honest as things go along, my first trial I didn't say much when I totally hated it and I kind of wish I had. My second time I gave them feedback about what I liked and what I didn't and they took it well and told me how they can tweak things to how I wanted. The low do is a great flattering look! I am going to scout some lip color options when I'm in Ottawa this weekend smile

I am under two months!! Scary!!

This will be quick. I just wanted to share a picture of my place card with you ladies. I found a photo on etsy but it was way to expensive so I decided to try it on my own. Turns out my FI is great with a cutting board so I have elected him to help with ceremony programs and place cards.

The ceremony program is all going to have ivory paper for all of the pages and brown card stock as background (i have different coloured paper on this picture because I ran out of the ivory).

The place cards have brown cardstock and ivory paper on front. I am going to punch out different coloured leafs and use them as food identifiers ie. bronze leaf for beef, gold for chicken, red for veg etc.

Let me know what you think. I am so excited but have no idea when I will find the time to complete these. The programs took me like a half hour for one and I have about 80 to do. haha.

Hope everyones planning is going good smile

Honey those turned out beautiful! And awesome that FI can help! Good for you for doing mock ups and starting your DIY projects, you will get faster at them as you go along I'm sure. If you can get a few detail oriented friends or family members to help you with some easier but time consuming steps then you can assemble or fine tune them afterwards. Also so clever about color coding the leaves!!

54 days for me today... I still have a lot of decisions to make regarding music and the ceremony that I have been dragging my feet about. What songs are you ladies using for your father daughter dance? And any suggestions on not super over used or excessively lengthy bible readings for the ceremony? I have this longing to try to do things different but I think I'm losing steam on the idea front lol

Very pretty honey! thanks for sharing!!

Man I'm at the 45 day mark!! Today is our RSVP deadline and we are so happy to have about 25 LESS for dinner which is saving us a ton of money! WOOT!! We actually have almost all the rsvps in which is fantastic!

Everything is coming together... it's crazy that we can now say we are getting married NEXT MONTH!!

I had my FOURTH bridal shower on Sunday at the cottage. What a wonderful day! All the ladies at the lake got us gift cards from Canadian Tire so that we could get ourselves patio furniture for our new house (we move next Friday). We got ourselves a beautiful set and I got myself a matching lounger smile

I had to restart my blog because blissfulblog.com is awful. Their customer service sucks so I found a site that doesn't charge me and I have a much nicer blog wink
http://mamameech.wix.com/birdsofafeather

I also wanted to share a video with you guys... we had another practice last night for our choreographed dance and it's coming together quite nicely! FI and I are having a blast! It looks a bit off because my son wasn't with us last night (he's a big part of it too, hence the lulls in our movement) but you get the picture...

Haha. I love the video. Great idea smile.

I feel the blog has gotten notably more quiet. You ladies must be super busy with all the final plans.

I finally thought of an idea for parent gifts. I am thinking digital photo frames. They each gave us photos to make a slideshow and I could put them on the digital photo frame to give it the extra personal touch.

Hope everyone is good and that the freak outs are limited to one a day if not none at all wink.

You look beautiful in your dress Meechie!! That's Greg that it doesn't need much altering! Where are you in that picture? It's a beautiful room! haha random I know smile

I haven't had a chance to watch your video yet but I love the idea of incorporating your son, and the choreographed dances are always fun.

It is getting quiet on here! I guess the early September ladies are in crunch time! I see the amount of to-dos left and I think I'm still a bit in denial lol. 50 days today! My bachelorette is tomorrow and I still know NOTHING about it, driving me crazy... I am a planner and I don't know what to plan for! What to wear, what to bring! lol I'm suspicious of being ambushed in the morning because FI has gotten some strange phone calls this week and he keeps just telling me to mind my own business LOL - its a good thing I trust him!

Honey the photo frames is a nice idea for parents gifts. So far all we've decided on in to get fancy hardcover photo albums made for each set of parents...

Alright, since I should be painting baseboards, and I reeeeeally don't want to.. It's time to catch up on this thread!! Bear with me here:

TnT - Oh, my date twin. I wonder if you're feeling what I'm feeling right now! Good on you for being so mellow about the colour of the bridesmaid dresses! Even though it's hard when you've have a vision for so long, sometimes just going with the flow just feels better, huh? I think that paying for their dresses is very generous, there are lot of inexpensive ways to give them a gift of thanks without it being incredibly expensive. It's been a while since this came up in the thread, but what about the personalized wire hangers to hang their dresses on? As for the inlaws and parents, I have no clue either.

We bought both of our mothers Pandora bracelets for mothers day, so I thought it might be nice to get them a couple of charms to remind them of the wedding. What do you guys think?

Oh, TnT, we hired a planner, and she just came over to bring us the first draft of the timeline. Would you want me to email it to you? She also shared how she comes up with them.

Lysh - Yeesh.. that's nerve wracking, having a groomsman almost back out this late! We're having a similar issue, but it might be a couple backing out, so we're going to lose one on each side. I kind of had a feeling it would happen though, it's not a shocker. Also, shocked at the second shower!! Did the people who were invited to the shower and not the wedding KNOW that they weren't invited to the wedding? Was it tough to have to go ahead and invite them afterwards?
And HOOORAH! for the dress fitting! Having stuff taken in is always good for an ego boost!

Meechie - Your son's bday party looked like a blast, what awesome costumes!! I LOVE his mushroom hat! Also, your choreographed dance looks awesome, so much fun! Your dress looks great on you, love that style. What do they have to do to it? It looks like it already fits pretty well!

Stress is totally building up, we're only 4 weeks away now, and it's a lot of small things to figure out now. BUT, on the bright side, like you, we're under our anticipated number of guests too! Although we knew we were sending invites to a lot of people that we knew wouldn't come for sure, we sent invites to 190 people, and are now down to 130, still waiting on 17 RSVPs (but we know that most of those are 100% yes).

Honey_Pie - Sounds like you got a lot of the wardrobe stuff taken care of in recent weeks! What colour are the bridesmaids dresses? You said brown and champagne vests for the men, right? I really like the stationery that you're putting together for the tables, looks great!

WoodsyGal4 - First of all, a) care to share what herbal supplements you're taking, and b) are they working well? I find I have a hard time falling asleep, once I do, I'm in a coma until about 4am, then I toss and turn until I have to get up at 6.
Second, you are seriously drop dead gorgeous, I'm sure you get that a lot! I really liked how your hair looked after the second trial. I was going to disagree with everyone else re:eyebrows from the makeup trial, but then I scrolled up and saw how nice your natural brows are, and agreed with everyone else! I'm all for a nice solid eyebrow, lol, but your natural ones have a really nice shape!
Third, holy wedding party drama, what is UP with September wedding parties!? There was a lot of bickering over my bachelorette, too, and they tried to keep me out of it, but I ended up having to put my foot down. I am SO not a partier, and some of them wanted to turn it into a really raunchy night, when all I wanted to do is go out for a nice dinner and hang with my best friends.
..and FOURTH, A++ with a FH who gets involved! Did he say he didn't want to do it and secretly loved it once he got into it? I got FH to help me with the shower thank you cards, and he did a great job.

Haven't seen much of Auntieli on here, if I remember correctly, she's the same date as me as well?? If you're out there, hope all is well! I read somewhere recently that one of the galleries in the Westboro/Wellington/Hintonburg area had some sort of restriction put on them because of repeated noise violations or something, I hope that doesn't affect you or your wedding. I could be wayyy off here, but I think I remember you talking about a venue like that??

As for me, I'm at 29 or 30 days away or something? I'm still freaking out. I need to get in touch with the people who made our invites to have the programs and menus made... I was holding out to find out what was going on with our wedding party! I still need to finish making the place cards and come up with something to put on the church pews, make our table numbers, and I had a piece of art that I wanted to make to display on the signing table, but now I don't know if I'll have time. FH was supposed to help me with that, and his part is the first step. I might need to bypass him and just do it myself. Perhaps this weekend, if I ever finish painting baseboards. It's funny how so many people offer to help paint because they "looooove to do it", but when you call them, they're ALL mysteriously busy at the same time.

I think I should be going for a second dress fitting soon, I'll try to get some pics to show you ladies!

browntown-I PM'd you. Thanks smile

If anybody is having an outdoor wedding, how are you decorating the aisle? I wanted to do something super simple. We are using white wooden fold out chairs. Our photographer suggested stringing a ribbon or something down the edges of the aisle to stop guests from walking into the aisle to see better/take photos, as it interferes with his photos. I like owe poofy flower things that are hung off the seat, but I don't even know where to begin with those. Any suggestions?

We are still working on music suggestions. We are leaning towards Sail Away by David Gray for our first dance...

I emailed you back, I hope it helps! For everyone's reference, the planner suggests working backwards from times that are more concrete. Ie. Work backwards from ceremony time to allot prep times. She also suggested putting speeches in order by how long the speaker plans to talk. Pair short speeches with short courses like soup or salad, parents would do well over the main course, it gives them more time to speak, and if bride and groom go last, they can speak as little or as much as they want!

To all of the Ottawa brides out there, would you be interested in doing a meetup or something after the dust settles? Maybe go out for dinner? I could host a dinner at my place if anyone would be interested in that, too.

Browntown - I have been taking Valerian root, it was actually recommended to me by my Dad who is also a troubled sleeper... I have been taking 2 about an hour before bed (recommended dose on the bottle). I don't need it to fall asleep but I need it to stay asleep, I generally start the tossing and turning by 2 or 3 am right until I have to get up at 6 am some nights. It's been working for me without the drowsy "hangover" the sleep aids my Dr prescribed me. I will warn you - it is verrrrry smelly! Kind of like stinky cheese haha. I got coated capsules and that has helped, they don't leave a bad taste in your mouth or give you bad breath though thankfully! Added bonus for us ladies who might be getting stressed, it's supposed to ease anxiety too. And I asked the pharmacist and it's safe with birth control pills. Hope that might help you out! Sleeping is kind of key!
Also I am glad you put your foot down on your bachelorette! it really upsets me when people don't take into consideration what the bride or groom wants to do for their party! And I can honestly say FH is amazing with helping with stuff, especially when I'm panicking he is so good at calming me down and helping me make a plan to get some stuff done and then offering to do the stuff he knows he can tackle on his own :)And thank you so uch for your kind compliments! I'm glad everyone felt the same way I did about the hair and makeup, very reasurring!

AFM
Man-O-man am I glad my bachelorette party is over!! I ended up having a pretty great time overall and really appreciate the effort my sisters and friends put in, but I could not handle anymore bickering and whining to me about the plans! haha Aside from that the girls were great and we really enjoyed ourselves smile and thank god my sister/MOH is now speaking to me again and wants to hang out tomorrow night, she has barely said a word to me for weeks!! Weddings really bring out sides of people you havent seen before...

I called the dress store again today to ask them to PLEASE call the company and get a firmer date for the arrival of my dress for the good on my mental health! They said they would call and call me back... and then didn't call back... *sigh* I may never sleep again lol. They keep saying by the 17th it SHOULD be in so it had best be in by then!!

Happy packing Meechie! and Happy painting Browntown! I really don't mind painting either but what I hate is the cleaning prep beforehand and the clean up after haha.

Hi Ladies!

I have not been on here much lately, but I have been trying to keep up with all of your posts! Love all of the pictures you have been posting - you are all gorgeous!

Everything has been so hectic for me in the last two months - we went through Work Force Adjustment here (thankfully I'm safe, but it was 2 months of waiting hell) and now all of the changes are coming down and I've been thrown into a project management roll I wasn't prepared for...so I've been working lots of extra time trying to get caught up and prepared for the months ahead.

Wedding related stuff has being going really well. Although, I agree 100% with WoodsyGal that weddings bring out a side of people you wouldn't expect...so unfortunately I've had to put out some small fires that have made the planning process somewhat unpleasant - mostly because all the fires had to do with one of the BMs - whom I have known almost my whole life and in hindsight should have anticipated problems, but I think I thought maybe she could put aside some of her issues for this...I was wrong, but oh well. I keep reminding myself that at the end of the day, FH and I will still be married and there are so many other people going to be there to help us celebrate.

Browntown - good memory! We are having our reception at a gallery...but it isn't that one (that one is in Hintonberg and the complaints stemmed from him using the gallery for purposes other than what the zoning allows...it's a house in the middle of a residential neighbourhood and he was throwing some late-night, loud parties).

I would definitely be in to a get together once all the weddings are over...

I hope all of you are well and all the last minute planning is coming together nicely! I really have appreciated reading along and seeing that others are having the same concerns/anxiety that I am...I thought I was a crazy person for a few days wink

I can't believe how close you guys are getting! I dot know what I'm going to do once I'm under the 1 months mark, cry? Haha I got some good news today though!! The dress store or back to me and said my dress has been shipped by the company so it's in transit to thir store and will be in next week!! They will call me as soon as its unpacked and have it all strange up and ready for whenever I want to come in. I am hoping I can go down on Thursday or Friday to pick it up and get all of my accessory shopping done!

Browntown, I also make a lot of faces and sometimes talk out loud when I'm writing lol - you're not weird at all!

Auntieli I think the best part about this forum is the support from the other ladies who are going through the same things, I joked to my friend the other day that I should find an online support group to help me through all of the big steps in my life!
