We now have bricks on our house! They put them up last week and I must say it does look pretty sweet!

They also put in insulation last week and started to sheet rock on Friday. So yeah... pretty productive week! We went back today and it's all sheet rocked and filled. It looks and feels a little bit bigger now.

We should be picking out our floors/paint colors soon... I also picked out my kitchen last week. I decided to upgrade kitchen cabinets to Hickory in a medium stain and it was either sa cecila or ven gold granite. I don't remember they were both pretty similar.

Another stalker here. Stalking my house is getting pretty boring because I can't see what they're doing upstairs and the kitchen seems to be on hiatus. Things should move pretty quickly after our appointments so then you can be sure I will become a super stalker!

Shanna: Welcome and congrats! Did you already choose your colours or you're still anticipating it?

Brunette: You're lucky that you bought from the beginning. I don't have any framing pics, etc because we bough inventory. Our house has literally been sitting pretty for 7 months all drywalled...

I'm jealous of Bluenoser and everyone else who closes this month! Hrmph!

But since we first started this process a few months ago our interest rate is down almost 1 whole percent (locked in for 5 yrs) so that is the only plus to having a closing so far away.

I agree with you there!! Ours has dropped quite a bit too and our Broker expects it to drop more. Wheee!!!! I'm still anxious to get into our house though.

I have no idea what to do! I'm starting to pack some things up that we don't really need and my mom brought back a whole garbage back of clothes for DD. They are mostly 6 month sizes and she's still in 3 months..she's a petite girl. I have no idea what to do with these clothes! Do I just pack them in a box or what? I dont know what size she'll be in by the end of May/beginning of June, so I doon't know if I should keep out the summer type clothes and pack away the rest...? *sigh* The thing is the other stuff is warmer clothes but she'd basically have to wear them now but I think they're too big. I really don't want to have to try everything on her or hang everything up just to pack away again. Ugh!

I think that's what i'm going to do! I put everything in her drawer, but I think I'm going to start packing up some of her stuff today (nick nacks, blankets, etc.) and put away the warmer clothes (maybe keep a couple out, just in case of cool days). The summer stuff I'll definitely keep out though.

6.5 weeks!!! WOOHOOO!!!

I agree about chosing paint colours...totally overwhelming! And I don't know what colour or feel or vibe I want in each room. We're pretty much leaving everything for right now. Paining DD's room and the wainscotting in the dining room but that's it. The house is all a neutral colour so it's good for now.

As for the packing..I realized today that we're getting short on time! We have 6 weeks but we're at our cottage the next 3 weekends!! I have started but there's soo much to do and trying to keep everything organized so it's in it's place when we get to the new house is really overwhelming.

I'm getting nervous and excited now. Only 6 weeks!!! I realized that we're almost in May and the next month we MOVE!

Does anyone have a picture of a basketweave ceiling texture to show me... I can't seem to find it on google... thx! We need to tell him out texture choice before monday.

We signed our morgage appliacation within 2weeks of purchasing. We're 4mths + from closing and will be going over our application again this month since we last looked it over 7mths ago. Usually you don't finalize and sign until the week of closing I thought?

I finally have news!!! Our new house is being built about 45 minutes from where we currently live but I have a cousin who lives there and she just told me that she's seen some stuff going on at our site!!! I'm so excited that things might be happening now!

I have an interview tomorrow, I'm trying to move to a location that is closer to our new house so I think I'll have to drive up and see it for myself!

One more update, we got a call this week that we have to go back and choose a different tile for our ensuite bathroom because the ones we choose are discontinued. DH is upset because that's the area of the house that he choose colours for, poor guy! So we have to go up there soon to pick out new ones.

Okay for the long post but I'm so excited that I could add something new to this thread again!!!

But oh well, I just wanna get the H E L L outta here now that it's so close. heheh We have friends coming this weekend and then next weekend I believe MIL and FIL are coming to help pack. My mom said she would come over whenever I needed her to to help as well - watch baby for me, etc. We need more boxes though. I'm not going to enjoy the viewings here though, that's for sure. Oh well I guess this is just the stuff we have to endure for the next few weeks and then we'll be IN! YAY!!!

Shannabelle: Yay for signing mortgage papers! Hope you got a crazy good rate. They're ridiculously low here in Ottawa right now.

BabyGrl: I remember when my mom was selling... I hated viewings. They say you get 24hrs notice but when you're trying to sell fast you take anything. I don't know if you're selling or renting and the LL is showing your place but good luck!!

Are you in yet starlite? Hope all went well for you with moving/closing!! I keep having cabinet nightmares... they had a mix up with our cabinet doors at the store. They were new and apparently someone put the wrong names on them so we almost ended up with the wrong one! Good thing I'm indecisive and made DH go back several times to make sure I still like them haha!

They've textured the ceiling looks better than I was expecting!

What else... OH we now have concrete in our garage and have a walkway/entrance. I forgot to take my camera yesterday though... so I don't have any pics.

We picked out paint colors and the rest of the stuff for the house yesterday. Builder thinks it should be done by the end of the month! That's like 1 month ahead of schedule! My cabinets are supposed to be in next week! I'm so excited to see what it looks like all together!! Guess I should start packing!

Oh and for the bathroom cabinet I decided to go with this one...

Brunette: OMG vanity envy!!!!!!

Yes I am sooooo excited. I am so unorganized today though. I had a big meeting this morning at work so I was getting all my business clothes on for my clients (I don't normally dress up since I am a designer in a studio) so I was frazzled and late. This caused me to forget the laminate counter samples I had picked out at Home Depot to show the people at the Design Centre (DC). Then I get into work to find out said meeting has been cancelled. FML. I also forgot my print out of design ideas.

Thankfully I have the PDF I work I can reprint and I am lucky that I had my folder in my car from last week.

I stopped by my house last night and peered in. Nothing newbut the other model similar to mine has been worked on every day. They now have carpet, ceramic, counter, backsplash and their railings! So jealous! Hope that's me soon!

Can't wait for 5:30pm girls! I'll post pics tomorrow! Whee!

Woohooo can't wait to see pics!!!!

I went for a walk through our (current) neighbourhood last night. It was soooo nice to get out for a walk on my own!! DH was home with sleeping DD. Anyhoo, I was checking out people's yards and gardens and I've decided I want to build a brick wall thingy around our tree in the front yard, fill it with soil and plant flowers in it.

I want to do a drive by our house tonight. teehee. Oh! Did I tell you girls that DH was talking to a guy he used to work with. He told him that we're moving to his area of town and the guy asked which street, so DH told him. Turns out this guy lives on the same street as us and he back onto his backyard!! lol Too funny, more coincidences with this house!

This is what I did last night too. Except I moved back home chez Mama at the moment to save up some extra money. Anyway, she lives 5 blocks from our new home so I was looking how our soon-to-be neighbours landscaped their lawns. Does anyone know how to do the brick wall thingy for a decent price?

I'm not sure how much soil you are plannning to add, but you don't provide enough "breathability" for the tree, it will suffocate. This can be alleviated by washed rock around the tree, and making sure soil doesn't get into the rock (use landscape fabric).

Hmm..I guess I'll have to talk to someone about how to do this then! lol I didn't realize all that. Gah!

mikey20 - So you can just go to a Canada Post outlet and do it at any time? Do you just give them the date you want to initiate it and they will do it automatically? Also, do yuo have to buy one for each person? i.e. one for me, one for DH?

Chelsea: Hrmmm... I am having a hard time visualizing the wood. Is it oak, maple? So your DH is ok with staining the cabinets then? There are some really nice natural coloured cabinets with dark appliances that look pretty modern.

What door style are you guys doing? Shaker? Flat? Colonial?

I got an email from our mortgage broker yesterday saying that our documents have been sent to the mortgage company and they will then in turn be sent to our lawyer (soon I think, as I believe they need them 30 days before closing?)!!! We tried to go and get boxes last night but the store was closed. BOOOO!!!! It's raining and icky here today so it would've been the perfect day to pack up more stuff and I was really looking forward to getting more things packed away. Oh well.

Chelsea - Good luck in deciding on the cabinets!! It's a hard choice. I love the espresso but I think the cherry might go better with the natural wood through the house.

DH got a call from our landlord today. He wants to come by tomorrow AM to take pics of the place to advertise. I've spent the whole day running around vaccuming, cleaning, tidying so people don't see our "stuff" in the pics..or keeping that to a minimum anyways. To boot, DD wasn't happy to be anywhere but in my arms today and I'm not feeling well. UGH! HI all!!! Only 2 weeks left till we start the June thread. Woohooo!!! lol We move in 1 month today (my ticker is for our closing date). Can't wait!!! My ILs are coming next weekend to help us pack. I'm at my parents this week because they are doing showings of our current place and I wanted to get outta Dodge! I figured this way they can book as many as they want all week, I don't have to worry about making sure everything is spic and span because we're not there to mess it up. I reeeeally hope they get it rented this week. That would be awesome, then we could move on and move out! lol Our landlord asked us last night if we were ok if someone wanted to move in on like June 21st. SURE!! We'll be out on the 19th and DH is going back to clean on the 20th, so please do!! lol As long as they get it rented for July 1st (and preferably by the end of this month), I will be a happy girl.

Any more progress on houses?

We were at the site this past weekend to re-pick tiles for our shower in the ensuite. They've started some houses at the other end of our sub-divison but nothing on ours yet! Too bad, I was hoping there might have been some progress, but no luck! I did take photos of the colours we choose, I'm at work now so will have to add the photos later. It's hard to tell the colour on the small sample pieces that I took photos of but I will share them anyways, LOL! I'm hoping that by next month they might be starting on ours, fingers crossed!
