 Wish us luck!

...tonight is night 1 of dropping the swaddle cold turkey / sleepeasy . I'm tired of the 3+ wake ups per night just because DD has busted out of the swaddle! Eek!

yes, good luck...I hear its a good thing to do the swaddle drop and sleepeasy together.
We dropped the woombie a few weeks back, but he still needds to be swaddled tight to fall asleep. i just hold a blanket on him. he is good for the rest of the night. for the most part, when he wakes up its because he is hungry.
and i dont wrap him up to go back to sleep and he does fine.

Woo hoo we did it!

It took DD 45 minutes to fall asleep last night and she was up 2x before our 10:30 DF, but other than that she was great! After our 2 other DF she kinda opened her eyes and whimpered a but when I put her down but that was it! I hear her stirring now (7:35) which is amazing!

...now onto naps!

Thanks!

Night #2 was even better! 30 minutes to sleep and I didn't do any check ins because it was on/off crying....and then NO wake ups! I heard a peep at 1:40 when I was trying to get myself out of bed for the
DF but that's all it was, a peep!

Let's hope naps go better today!

can I ask when you are DFing, and, what were her night wake-ups before?

dex is all over the place with his nights, so, planning his DF's are tough!

IG - definitely! I'm doing them at 10:30, 1:30 and 4:30. Before her night wake ups were all over theplace too! She'd usually go down at 7 and then wake up at either 10, 11, 12, 1 or 2 LOL. If she'd wake up before midnight she'd probably wake again around 2 and then for the day around 5, 530 (which was killing me!). We had sometimes been doing a DF at 10 ish (but not consistently) and if we did she'd last till 2 (or wake at 12 anyways).

I would say...90% of her wake ups were due to being tangled in her swaddling blankets, or due to getting her arms out and then startling herself!

Night 1 she woke up at 10:30 but was asleep in 15 mins so I did the DF at 11. Night 2 I did the DF at 10:15 because I was ready for bed so she didn't wake up.

I found last night the 4:30 DF she really didn't eat that much (like 5 mins) BUT she stayed in bed till 7 so who knows!

And today nap 1 she slept for 1.5 hours (and it took her 4 minutes to fall asleep). Nap 2 is happening now but she did fall asleep for 30 mins in the car on the way home from brunch so I wasn't sure what to do. She was rubbing her eyes and yawning so I thought I'd give it a try....

I'm working up the nerve to drop the swaddle but it's hard to do when my DD (6 months) has been napping for THREE hours! Without it she sleeps for 45 min. You are inspiring me though....

SO tonight's bedtime is going under "too good to be true". Granted DD was wiped (major nap fail this afternoon, she fell asleep in the car for 20 minutes and that was it!) but I nursed her, put her down crying, and by the time i was out of the room she stopped and it's been quiet since then (25 minutes). I'm afraid to peek in and check!

Does Abby ever poop at night still? Dexter has started pooping once in awhile after his feeds at night - it drives me nuts!

Highjack away!

She doesn't usually poop at night , she's more a first thing in the AM kinda girl wink. Some mornings her diaper is dirty but that means she poops sometime between the last DF and wakeup. She has done that before though, it's frustrating!

Ha ha. This AM DH woke ME up at 8 because he was worried that DD was still sleeping. She fell asleep at 7:15 pm that's 12h45min - with 3 DF that she sort of opened her eyes for and that was it! I told him it was normal, and she woke up 10 minutes later anyways! Now she's 1.5 hrs into nap 1 smile

2 questions
1. When can I start night weaning? I know the book says 5 months/15lbs - DD is 15lbs10oz..should i still wait for 5 months?

2. Is anyone using cloth overnight? We had switched to disposables because I thought she was maybe waking up bc she was wet. we're almost out of size 2s and I think she'll need size 3s next but I'd like to explore some cloth options instead....any suggestions?

1) why don't you wean the 1:30 feed. that's what i did with DD - i weaned the 1:30 and moved the 4:30 slowly back to 3:45ish (I think)

2) we've just started using cloth overnight - we use a wool soaker and a MEOS with a liner snapped into it. it is SOAKED in the morning. The wool soaker is interesting since it soaks up the pee, but, still "breathes" so his sleeper and sleep sack are damp (kinda like if he was sweating - his clothes would be damp, but, not soaked). I'm shocked that your DD's size 2 doesn't explode overnight with 3 DF's! i would go up to a size 3 at night for sure if you continue with sposies overnight. We are using size 3 during the day, and size 4 overnight if he's not in cloth.

We use a MEOS with staydry doubler and a ME airflow cover overnight. We haven't had any leaks at all so far (*knock on wood*). Gives him a big bubble butt, but his skin on his bum is nice and dry, even though the diaper is saturated in the morning geek

I had to switch to sposies for the last week to clear up a rash as the disposable liners that I was using with my CD (in order to use zinc oxide) weren't staying where they needed to and I was paranoid about ruining my dipes. I've been using the Pampers baby dry in size 2 as the Swaddlers size 2 were leaking with every single pee or poop through the legs for some weird reason. Anyway, the baby dry have been working pretty well for us overnight as well.

The rash is almost completely cleared up and I'm looking forward to getting back into our CDs soon. teeth

Zolem- yup did the same thing for naps! The first 2 days weren't great, now she has a solid morning nap (which she did pre-SE) and two ok afternoon naps (same as pre SE lol)!

PinkAngel - thanks! I've been interested in ME diapers, I'll check them out!

Here's another hijack...what do you do if your LO wakes up around the same time you were going to go in to do a DF? Do you still do it...or treat it like a check in and go in later when he/she is asleep? I think we're going to start weaning this weekend so I want to be prepared. Going to bed/swaddle removal CIO have already been done a few months ago, so now it's just night feeds that we need to look at.

TIA! smile
