when did LO drop nap #3?

YDS has a pretty consistent nap routine. He usually does two 90-minute naps and a catnap (30-45 mins). That last nap has always been a struggle but some days are much worse than others. It's easiest to just hold him for the nap but that's not feasible most days since dinner needs made, someone needs to look after ODS, etc! Without the nap, we end up with a cranky overtired baby who falls asleep BFing at bedtime and then wakes throughout the evening because he's hungry/unsettled.

So I don't think he's quite ready to drop the nap but it might be soon. What age did your LO drop nap #3?

About 5 months. I can't even remember how it happened, but around that time we noticed he was sort of following the 2-3-4 schedule (two hours after waking up- nap 1; three hours after waking up- nap 2; four hours after waking up- bedtime).

I think my DD was around 8-9 months old? But up until then she was only napping 45 minutes max, so she needed more naps throughout the day. Once her naps started getting longer, she dropped down to 2 naps naturally.

DS is almost 7 months old and I can tell that we are heading down that road as well.. the third nap is pretty much forced but if he doesn't get it, he ends up really cranky and needing to go to bed SUPER early (like 6PM), which interferes with dinner.

ODD didn't have a good (read: hardly slept) nap schedule until she was on 2 naps a day, which was around 7 months (she was also down to 1 nap a day by 10 months).

YDD tends to have a short (30-60 minute) nap in the morning then a long (1.5 - 2 hours usually, but it can be 3+ hours if the morning nap was really short or missed altogether) nap in the afternoon. She dropped the third nap ages ago, probably around 5 months?

My kids are weird though tongueold

I don't think DS ever really took a third nap, but we started loosely doing 2-3-4 by about 7-ish months. So maybe 2-3-4 is something that might work for you at this stage?

Around 8.5 months, and we went to the 2-3-4 schedule very easily! That was my favourite napping/timing schedule smile but then the 2nd nap dropped VERY soon after that, probably around 11 months, because he slept in till 8-8:30 most days.
