Wow, I completely lost track of time with the Holidays and realized recently that Julianna has been OALASWI!! The actual date, at 37 weeks 2 days, was Christmas Eve.
It's been a crazy ride, and has seemed to go by way too quickly. We found out I was pregnant on our 1 year anniversary and it was a tough (mostly due to "morning" sickness) pregnancy with continual borderline high blood pressure concerns. We were with a midwife, but also being seen by a high risk dr. At 37 weeks exactly I went for a routine appointment and found out J hadn't grown in uterus much in 3 weeks so I was being induced within 48 hours. That afternoon I was called in. We were in labour for 2 days and every time I had a contraction, J's heart rate decreased to a concerning point. We were almost headed to a C-section, but suddenly all started to work out and J was born naturally on April 7th at 5:54pm after a very quick delivery. The umbilical cord was around her neck so she needed to be resuscitated.
Due to her low birth weight (5 lbs 6 oz) we stayed in the hospital for a couple of days. We were discharged on day 2 and re-admited day 3 for high levels of Jaundice and weight loss (4 lbs 14 oz). She was on the tanning bed for two days and given supplements. Finally we made it home.
We had a rough start with BF issues, working to increase her weight and her being tongue tied (released twice!). But now at 8.5 months she is one VERY smiley active baby. She loves to socialize with everyone, and recently has mastered pulling herself to a stand so she's keeping us busy!
Here's my selection of photos (I had trouble choosing):
