 OMG someone ransacked dh's car

last night, our civic in our driveway right next to our door and our shed.

My truck is on the road and dh's mustang is behind the civic so instead of moving the cars around to take out the civic since i have been driving it to save on gas, i went to get the car seat out of dh's car.

First thing i noticed, the diaper bag was moved, then looked in the front seat where the diaper bag was strewed all over the front seat, the glove compartment emptied on the floor and hte middle consol emptied on the driver's seat. All the change was gone. I am not sure if anything else was taken. THen i looked and OMG they took dd's car seat and left the base. I went to double check in dd's room and my truck and no car seat.

WTF>

grrr i am soo mad

to think, the night before dd and her friend where "camping" in the backyard.

dh is sleeping as he works nights tonight but should i call the cops, wait for dh to wake up or what?

OMG! What is wrong with some people!? Stealing the baby's carseat?!

Our minivan was ransacked a few weeks ago. Thankfully nothing was taken except $4 in the cupholder. It must have been young kids because they left my dh's leather jacket and his expensive pool cue. We didn't call the cops over $4 (just made sure to lock our minivan all the time) but you definitely should. Wake your dh up and make the call.

That is horrible.... why don't you pop into CAA and see if that lady can help you locate the seat. Seems rather funny that is the item missing. Why would they take only that when they really can't use it without the base.

I was thinking maybe the CAA lady took it!

In all seriousness...I hope everything is resolved soon...that's horrible!

Does your DH keep his ownership in the car? I ask because I was told by a police officer this week that I should never keep mine in the car.

I had to go to the reporting centre this week (someone hit our car in a parking lot pretty bad and took off). When the officer asked me for the ownership I had to run out to get it from my glovebox. When I came back she told me I shouldn't keep it there. Apparently the info on your ownership along with your signature is enough for people to use to get credit cards in your name (!?!). She told me that that is the main reason why cars are broken into. I keep mine in the car since DH and I switch up who's driving what all the time. The officer advised me to make a photocopy of the back and front of the ownership (minus the signature) to keep in the car instead.

Check and make sure that stuff wasn't taken!

What is with people?

Our neighbors are on holidays and the same thing has happened (we think). I found their owner's manual and registration and such in the middle of my front yard. The glove compartment looks like it has been ransacked. I know they used to have a car seat in that vehicle, but I'm not certain..so we need to wait for them to come back and verify if anything has been taken (we called the cops on their behalf).

That really sucks

OMG after everything you have been through with this carseat! I also suspected the CAA lady for a second too! LOL. Definitely call the police and wake up DH. Sorry that this happened to you - you totally don't deserve it!

It really does take a special kind of someone to steal a babyseat!! Gawd, it makes you wonder, eh?

I hope they find whoever did it - or at least I hope insurance covers the cost of your seat!

thanks ladies, we had to run out this afternoon and get a seat so we have something. Wasn't what we want but will do for now.

I have a friend that loves my stroller but doesn't want the car seat. I might see if she will buy the travel system and sell me the car seat so it still matches my stroller for future babies.

but what a pita grrrrrrrrrrrrr

The insurance will cover it but we have to wait for an adjuster to look at our file. We provided them with our reciept but with it being a travel system, not sure how much they will re imburse us for the car seat. I printed out the safe seat and how much it is by it self.

@ the CAA lady

OMG!!! What is WITH people these days! To think they would steal a baby seat
About two weeks ago our tenants where on our sundeck and one noticed a teen walking up our driveway! Our driveway is long, and there's no reason for him to be coming up.
So our tenants was thinking fast and ducked and hid to see what the kid was doing. He walked right up and was looking in my DH's truck! Dh has a work truck and LOTS of very expansive tools Then our tenants popped out from hiding as this young guy was RIGHT up next to our house looking in DH's truck and he said "what do you think you are doing?!" and the kid was like "oh....umm... do you have the time?" and our tenant said "yeah right you want the time! Get off our property right now! Ive already called the police!" and the kid RAN... hope he knows better than to come back. Were thinking of starting a block watch. Maybe thats something you could do?
