At what age for snacks such as....

... raisins, sunflower seeds, dates etc? A mom brought these to playgroup today and it never even occurred to me to give these to DD just because of their small size and shape (i.e. choking hazard). So maybe I am just overly stressed about choking. At what age did you offer your toddler these types of snacks?

I think YDS was almost 2 years old. But he also had huge issues with texture and swallowing, otherwise I would have given them sooner.

She probably could have had them after one year, especially after all her teeth came in, but we waited until she was closer to 2.

The dates, I would just make sure they are cut up into smaller bites. Raisins are small enough, same with seeds

Elliot has been eating raisins for a few months now. Haven't tried nuts yet because he still only had two teeth.

ETA hes also been rating dried prunes and apricots since about 7 months.

I'm pretty sure we started with those kinds of snacks at some point after 12 months, but before 18 months.

DS eats raisins and dates all the time! He had pretty much all his teeth except his 2 year molars since he was 13 months old, so it's not something I worried about. I should note that DS was fully on solid finger foods (no purees) by 8 months old.

Actually, the more dangerous items for choking are round objects such as whole grapes or hotdogs (we cut grapes in half).

Obviously, I always supervise him while eating too.

DD has been eating grapes for a couple months - at that time, she had no teeth and now she has one. She has had prunes as well, but not dates.

13-14 months we started giving DD things like that. 12 months for just raisins.
