 "Travelling Toddler" hack

http://www.parenthacks.com/2011/09/car-seat-luggage-strap.html

I can't get a Travelling Toddler strap, they are out of stock everywhere online. We leave in 26 days (I know I know, last minute). I was trying to figure out how to make my own and I came across this site. What do you think?

Have you thought about renting a car seat while you are there?

^ And they do ship internationally. I may get one for our next trip. Love the idea of it.

Are you leaving from Fort Lauderdale? You can rent a car seat there and then just bring it with you.

I made something up like that myself last summer. I actually saw that review on Amazon and did basically the same thing with a bungee cord rather than a metal ring. I'll try to explain it. I wish I took a picture.

I just used a pretty short bungee cord.

I put the back of the carseat up against the front of the carry-on luggage. The bungee cord went around the back of the luggage and the hooks were clipped to the UAS clips. The tether strap went over the top of the luggage, down the back and hooked onto the middle of the bungee cord. The cord was nice and tight and everything stayed in place perfectly.
I hope that makes sense!

We did it with two Truefits and it was SO nice not to have to lug them around. Actually we couldn't possibly have carried them.

The only PITA was undoing it when we went through security and at the gate (for 2 flights) but it was still totally worth it.
