 Gift for a third baby?

A girlfriend in New York just had her third baby - her second boy - yesterday and I'd like to send her something. I'm totally drawing a blank as to an appropriate item, though? If she was local I'd deliver food or something practical but since I will have to send by mail I need to give some thought to what a third baby needs. (Those who know of my situation, yes, I have tried to think of what I would need and again - BLANK!) It's hard to go with clothes or books or whatever because I think she's pretty well set up for both.

Ideas, please?

My DS wore holes in 90% of his 6-12 month pants from so much crawling so I know I'd want clothes! Or a nice blanket, my kids are super glued to theirs. Plus it's nice getting anything new for a new baby!

Can you find a company that would deliver food there?

Its NYC, it must exist?!?!

Nah, it doesn't make much sense for NYC. Everyone has their roster of favourite places that do delivery and nothing is really "corporate" such that you could get a gift card or whatever. I had to explain this to my mother eight billion times...she would come visit and destroy my kitchen cooking six different things and I was like, "Um, you know there are like 80 excellent restaurants in a three block radius that can deliver, right?"

I was actually thinking maybe toddler clothes. My DS was ridiculously hard on this clothes as well, totally unlike anything I experienced with DD. I was just telling DH that we are lucky to be expecting another girl as I have basically nothing of DS's left to hand down!

julie - those are cute, thanks! I will have to figure out what she is going to be calling the baby. He has three names so I am not sure if the second two are middle names or how that all works!

I'd call one of the high-end children's boutiques in her area. Let them know your budget and ask them to put together an outfit or two for delivery. For a more hands on approach I love the coordinates section for gift buying off the Makie site, like this outfit http://makieclothier.com/catalogc.php?itemId=142&page=

Something personalized is nice since baby will get so many hand-me-downs.

Something personalized or something high-end - like a new pair of Robeeze or a namebrand outfit.

When I had my third, I got a pretty, silver I.D. bracelet with her name on it and a silver cutlery set with her initials, which I really loved.

All three of my kids got beautiful silver rattles when they were born, which are also gorgeous keepsakes for us.

I always buy boy moms a tiny, new "boy" outfit because I like when stuff fits babies properly and I know my friends who have boys like receiving outfits that look boyish but not babyish (more like grown-up clothes, I guess?).

Maybe try a nice personalized blanket. Everyone loves those. And it's something to treasure for years to come. I've seen a lot of gorgeous ones on Etsy.

I like the personalized towels on this site, I'm planning on getting one for my brother's baby once it is born.
