Totally worth it and I would do it exactly the same way again in a heartbeat. We eloped to Vegas just DH and I and our entire week long trip/wedding/photographer/shows/meals/touristy fun etc. came in under $5000. We also (very surprisingly) received quite a few monetary gifts once we got home and news traveled that we eloped. (we didn't send out announcements or anything like that)
We had more than enough money in the bank to have our original plan of 50ish people for a wedding at home with friends/family and be debt free but the planning was getting out of control and I found myself HATING the entire process so off we went to get married and have a fabulous time just the 2 of us.
I would do it again, but maybe try somewhere different like Fiji or NYC!

DD was sitting consistently on her own by 5.5 months. Now however, she will *not* lay on her tummy at all, so rolling over hardly ever happens. She'd much rather sit or stand now than lay down. I was concerned because she hasn't "practiced" rolling in months so I'm thinking she probably can't anymore, haha. She makes no indication of wanting to try army crawling or moving at all...
And 8 teeth?!? Holy moly! He'll be eating a steak in no time!

We set a budget of $100, but we usually go a little over. One year I went waaaaaaay over and got him hockey tickets (for us, lol) to see the Habs vs. Pens in Montreal complete with airfare, hotel etc. in January. He's usually the one who spends a little more because he tends to buy me jewelry as he says "you can't go wrong with jewels" haha
This year we aren't exchanging except for a card. We bought a brand new SUV 3 days ago and paid off my remaining student loan so that's our Christmas gifts to each other.

Hi ladies!
Popping in to say hi (and get us off the dreaded 2nd page!).
Scrum: Yay for sleep success!! I hope DD is still doing well in that department for you and that you didn't jinx yourself by sharing your excitement with us, lol
Laker: Sounds like your little man is going to be getting around a lot more pretty soon!! Exciting (and scary!. DD seems to have no real interest in moving from wherever we plop her down, which is ok by us for now!
Blush: I hope DS is feeling better. DD has had 2 colds already (her 2nd one was worse than the first just because it seemed to last so much longer) so I know how hard it is to see them sick and miserable. Hopefully he's on the mend soon, you're doing all the things necessary to get him feeling better!
Leopard: Hope your house is all nicely decorated now
AFU - I took DD to see Santa at the mall today. She was *not* a fan at all. I feel bad because in the photo you can tell she's SO unhappy (big meltdown!) but I think the picture is hilarious, lol. I'll post it in our FB group. For the second pic I held DD and sat next to Santa with her, she was totally ok with that (as in didn't cry) but still didn't smile.
I'm still trying to juggle school work and home life. It's definitely a challenge but thankfully DH is pretty helpful and DD goes to bed early (by 7pm every night) so I can work until about 10pm before I need some sleep. My final paper is due tomorrow so I'm working on that now. Unfortunately, I didn't get our tree up or decorating done this weekend like I planned, but I'll start dragging all the stuff out tomorrow - can't wait!!
Other than that, not much else is going on. We're buying a new vehicle - we were stuck between an AWD Honda CRV or an AWD Toyota RAV4 - we decided on the RAV4 and will hopefully have it soon!! The interior of the CRV was nicer, but the RAV4 gives us better perks that we would have had to pay a lot more for on the CRV (such as a moonroof and roof rack). With the dog and stroller, our little Mazda just isn't cutting it anymore (plus it's a 2002 car that gave us a hard time a few weeks ago!) and it will be nice to keep our dog in the back hatch area rather than in the backseat - hopefully it will help contain some of the long white fur

I think that's it for us. All our shopping is done for DD (we didn't go overboard at all...2 books, a pair of jammies, head bands and a toothbrush for her stocking and the Laugh n' Learn Dance and Play Puppy - was going to get the Poppin' Elephant but it was sold out at Walmart where I had a gift card to use so got the Puppy instead!)
Time to go do some more school work and hit the hay!

Not yet, and it's awful. We honestly say probably twice a month "we *really* need to get our will done!" and it just never seems to happen. We know exactly what we want to do, who gets what, how to divide the assets, who gets guardianship of DD etc. but we just need to go see a lawyer and get.it.done.

When DD was really small and in our room, she would go to bed when we did (usually around 10-10:30pm). Her bedtime just seemed to naturally get earlier and earlier and she's been in her own room in her crib since she was 4 months old.
Her bedtime now is usually 7pm, but sometimes 15-20 minutes later or earlier depending on her mood/our activities for the day/her naps. She typically still has 2 wakings around 2am and 5am and is up for the day by 7am.

Guess I should answer my own question! We never get ready in the same space. Ever. We use our ensuite bathroom for showers/teeth brushing in the mornings and before bed. I use the main floor bathroom for hair and makeup (more space since it's the one with the double sink) and DH will use the downstairs bathroom for putting in his contacts and shaving. I consider that to be his bathroom. We have 3 full bathrooms, so we thankfully don't have to share, but we have lived in a flat with only one very tiny bathroom and were on the same morning schedule; again we took turns.

...get ready for work/outings together in the same bathroom?
DH and I regularly watch the show "Urban Suburban" on HGTV. And more often than not, when the couples tour the potential homes, most comment on only having 1 sink in the bathroom and how inconvenient it would be for getting ready to go out/to work. DH and I must be weird because we're *never* in the bathroom together getting ready, and yes, our main bathroom does have 2 sinks (our ensuite however, does not)
So, for fun, a poll! (my first!)

I said no. We currently have 3 full bathrooms in our house, and while it may seem like a lot for two people with an infant, they're all used frequently.
Our previous house had 1 full bath upstairs which had a cheater door to our bedroom. It had a 2 piece powder room on the main floor and a 3 piece in the basement that was hardly ever used since we didn't spend much time down there.
Our ensuite we use for just us. Our main floor bath is where our guests go if we're in the main floor family room/dining room, and where we bath DD. Our basement bath is where we go when we're hanging out downstairs, or where our overnight guests go since the guest bedroom is down there.

First of all, I know that pumping isn't really a good indication of your supply, but with pumping off both breasts, I *might* be able to get 2oz. Before, I could get 5+ oz no problem off one.
DD is 7 months old and has been BF only until the past month or more when we introduced solids. She eats solids everyday (usually twice a day, sometimes three) and is still nursing. However, I find she's super fussy at the breast sometimes and she doesn't seem to be gaining weight. I weighed her at a PHN clinic and then at her regular doctor a little over 2 weeks later and she actually weighed an ounce less! My doctor wasn't concerned, and chalked it up to scale inaccuracy, but I'm not 100% convinced. She's also extra fussy lately (a few weeks) during the day which isn't like her at all and her sleep is all out of sorts. When she eats her solids, she devours them - she sometimes cries/whines if I don't feed her fast enough! I nurse frequently, usually every 3-4 hours even if she isn't "asking" for it.
With all that being said, since I'm worried that she might actually be hungry and not getting enough milk from me, I'm thinking of maybe doing 1 formula feeding a day to see if it will make a difference? My questions are:
- what's the best formula for a BF baby where the formula won't be her main source of food?
- her poops are definitely more solid now and we've had some constipation issues; is it because she's not getting enough liquids, or is it just digestion changes with solids? I've offered her water with meals; she doesn't seem to be a fan

I'm at a loss here. I feel awful that she might be hungry, that I'm considering formula, that my milk might be dwindling (I try and drink/eat lots during the day!)that she might not be gaining weight (we go to the doc next week for flu shots so she'll be weighed again at that time). Also, my period did return - I got my first PP one the day DD turned 5 months old, another one about a month later and I know I'll get another in about 1-2 weeks. I've heard that can affect supply too...
Any thoughts/experiences/suggestions???
Thanks!!

I've had both ways done - the booth (Mystic/Magic Tan) and someone spraying me at a salon.
I turned orange with both, but definitely worse with the booth. As well, you can't go in the water for like, 3 days after your 'tan'. I did anyways (after almost 48 hours) and I still turned splotchy. It was a mess. AND if you sweat even the slightest, you will smell, and not a BO smell. DH kept asking why I smelled funny...lol (and it stained my clothes)
So all in all, I wouldn't actually recommend it. And trust me, I'm sooooo pale it's embarrassing to be seen on a beach. I won't spray tan again - save your money! Maybe try a moisturizer with a bit of tint in it? I think Jergens makes one??

Hi ladies -
Just popping in to say hi. I read last month's thread but had a hard time keeping up. We're awfully chatty sometimes

Things here are going well, DD is getting another tooth on the top so she's been pretty fussy off and on for about a week now. I hope it pops through the gum soon.
Solids are going well, but she's having a hard time with poops. I do the BioGaia drops and offer her water with her meals (which she doesn't seem to like at ALL) but she's definitely having some difficulties getting things out. They're not solid when she does finally pass things through so I don't think it's actual constipation, and they look 'normal' to me but it definitely takes 4+ days for her to go. We're having prunes for lunch today hoping it will help speed things along!
Sleep is hit and miss again. She goes to bed easily (by 730pm) and doesn't make a peep, but it up at 10pm or so when DH and I go to bed (I think we might wake her up even though her door is closed) so one of us goes in to hold her shhhh her and put her back down. She's then usually out until 1 to 3am depending on the day. Sometimes back up again by 4-6am...and up for the day by 730ma. Not horrible I guess but it's definitely inconsistent.
I think my supply is really dropping too

I just don't feel "full" anymore even if it's been 3-4 hours since her last nursing. My period is also back which I heard can affect supply. I'm drinking tons of water, and I am looking into maybe offering formula every once in a while. For those that do breast and formula, which formula do you use?? I know absolutely NOTHING about formula feeding...
Question - do your LO's have a time when they just want to veg and be left alone?? Sometimes DD seems to be fed up with interaction and playing and gets super cranky. I'll put her in her swing thinking maybe she wants a cat nap, but she just swings and stares off into space for a while. Is that normal? She seems content enough but she seriously looks totally zoned out.
Bisou - my DD has a weird reaction to men, and not usually women. It's so bizarre. She'll cry if they look at her - they don't even need to say anything at all. She's like that with family sometimes too - she whines a lot and will cry when DH's parents visit, and it takes her a good 20+ minutes to feel comfortable with them. And we see them several times a week...
Laker - we also offer sweet potato to DD, have you tried that? So far I think that's her favourite. She didn't seem to be a fan of carrots at all. Pears and banana she likes a lot as well, and avocado was iffy. I'll maybe try mixing the avocado with banana and breastmilk and see if that maybe goes down a little better.
Blush - that sounds scary! I have a huge fear of DD choking on ANYTHING and I may look into taking an infant/toddler CPR class one weekend. It scares me to no end.
Other than that, we're doing well here. DD was a butterfly for Halloween and we just went to a few neighbours houses. She sits all the time now for long periods and of course hates laying down as she'd rather be sitting so rolling over doesn't happen often anymore, lol. She's 15lbs on the nose as of Monday when we had our 6 month shots. We're going in 2 weeks for the flu shot - ugh! Which I didn't know was 2 needles for babies 4 weeks apart???

We turned out the lights at 8:00 - I was putting DD to bed and our dog freaks out when the doorbell rings and is actually pretty freaked out by Halloween in general I think, lol.
Even with the lights off (and I mean our house was pitch black except for the glow of the TV downstairs) we still had 3 more doorbell rings between 8-9 which was annoying because the dog freaks out and it woke up DD.

Ugh, I just got over a nasty cold (that DD ended up getting too

)
I didn't take anything besides regular strength Tylenol for the on/off fever and aches. For nasal congestion, I actually asked a pharmacist and she looked up Advil Cold and Sinus for me (which I used to take pre-baby) and she said it can affect milk supply even in small doses. For me, it wasn't worth the risk so she suggested a nasal spray (Otrivin Cold and Allergy) instead which actually worked well.
Fell better soon - lots of fluids and rest are what helped me! Definitely nap when your DD is

ETA: If you have a humidifier, run that at night when you're sleeping and take a nice hot bath/shower - the steam helps a lot with congestion!

I recently ported my landline with Bell to a new smartphone with Koodo. I love Koodo!!
All I did was tell Koodo I wanted to keep the same number and they do the rest. I didn't have to call or contact Bell at all.
Bell charged me a fee as I "left my contract" early but I never signed a contract to get a landline with them. Ever.
When I asked them about it they said it's their policy to charge what's left in that month's billing cycle if you leave before it is over. I was pi$$ed - I didn't read that ANYWHERE and again, I never signed a contract with them nor to I do contracts with any company. Just another reason why we are no longer with Bell.
Sidenote: we cancelled our satellite service with them months ago (we got the Boxee Box instead for TV) and they owe us a credit of over $100. We're STILL waiting for the cheque and have called twice about it. Again, their "policy" is that you have to have your service inactive for at least 2 months before they'll pay you your credit. It's been 3 and still no cheque. Bell sucks.

I spoke to a medium last year after a friend of mine had a session with him and was blown away. So, a few of us girls got together and decided we'd go see him just for fun. I honestly wasn't expecting much despite her rave reviews and DH thought I was nuts for even thinking about doing it.
Honestly, the medium told me things that *nobody* would know about me or my family. It just isn't possible. He knew things that I have never told a soul. He also said that DH's grandmother was trying to reach out to me - he knew and described things about her that I find it very hard to believe he would be able to find out or know unless he was in some sort of contact with her. I had instant goosebumps and never said anything more than a yes or no answer to him.
He also mentioned a piece of jewelry that my MIL has and the story behind it of how she got it. Impossible for him to know such fine details about the ring in question and the story behind it.
I left my session truly believing. My fried that also had a session done left hers in tears because she was stunned at the details he was discussing with her about family and her best friend that had passed away.
So I do believe that some people have a gift, but crystal balls, palm readings, tea leaves etc. I'm not sold on at all.
