I bookmarked the post about changing to a married name in SK, but due to the changeover in WB land, I no longer have it.
Could someone either point me towards the thread, or tell me where I need to go to change my name. So far, SGI is all I can think of. And I know I need to change my health card, but not sure where to go for that one.
I was planning on doing this today, and figured I could just google it, but haven't had luck yet.
Thanks a million!

I also agree with Erin80 though, you can give your DH these options but he is the one who has to put his foot down. If he doesn't do this, then HE would be the one I would be annoyed with, not the moocher.

We found them in a knife store, but they didn't have enough in stock. We later found the same knive for about $30 cheaper on Ebay, so it ended up saving us well over one hundred dollars!

Come to think of it, a pretentious, douchey ex boyfriend actually sang me a song on his guitar once.
He was (and I can't emphasize this enough) the most ARROGANT, narcissistic, talentless, pretentious person I have ever met (and I am clearly not bitter, LOL!)--but I was 15, so what can I say.
Anyway, he sang me a few Counting Crows song, and also Cherish, by Madonna. Random.

I looooved the wedding I went to with a food station. It was great to have variety and to have food that at least *seemed* fresher.
However, there were lineups (not crazy, but nevertheless) and people didn't really mingle, per se. This was a wedding of about 150.
All in all, I think it is a great idea!

Love DMB!
Taylor Swift is one of my faves, and I love that she always sings live--but tonight is not her best performance. Oh well, she is pretty impressive most of the time.
ETA: And though it doesn't explain why she was so off key in the first song, I do think harmonizing (and singing, period) with Stevie Nicks (sp?) would be really hard. She has a unique voice.

We had bedbugs. We knew because we had the three bite marks constantly, all over. We were fairly certain they were contained to one room, so what we did was:
Take out every single piece of clothing and wash it in hot water.
Took out every single piece of furniture and bleached it or used the appropriate cleansing product (Lysol, etc.)
Cleaned the walls and windows.
Vacuumed the carpet.
Bought a bed bug spray from Canadian Tire. We sprayed down the mattress, the bed frame and the carpet.
Then we left everything overnight, and did the same thing again 24 hours later (while sleeping elsewhere of course).
We got rid of the bed bugs, thank goodness they were only in one room (at least we haven't had any issues elsewhere!)
Good luck--people will tell you horror stories, but it IS possible to rid yourself of them, I promise!

Well my wedding day came and went, and I thought that I would write out some tips, etc. since this section was beyond helpful for me when I was planning my wedding.
So here are some of the lessons learned. Sorry it is long and all over the place. I don't have a ton of pics uploaded to photobucket yet, but will try to add more later.
I want to begin by saying that it was a perfect day. Perfect in every single way. Nothing (major) went wrong, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
TIPS:
I wrote EVERYTHING down. MAJOR list making was done by me. I had a general timeline (for Friday through Sunday) as well as a day-of timeline, and a list of important contact numbers. I had a list of everyone's jobs, and a list of where people needed to be and when. This allowed me to relax all weekend (more or less) and just enjoy the day.
Make SURE you have all your thank you's written down. The ONLY thing that really went wrong was that, even though we wrote all our thank you's down, we forgot to thank our ushers and our friend who video taped the wedding. I feel HORRIBLE about this!
My dress--I bough an inexpensive dress ($850) and I am SO happy I did. Alternations, undergarments, veil and jewelry all added up, so I am happy I went with a cheaper dress. Plus, I am a true believer that every bride looks great on her wedding day, so why not do it on the cheap!?

My dress is from Blissful Bridal in Calgary and I was very happy with them. My alternations were done by Kay's Sewing in Saskatoon, and I was happy with them as well.
PICTURES:
We did our pictures before. BEST decision ever. I was pretty nervous the day of, and seeing DH beforehand made me so much more relaxed. Then, we only had to take a few pics afterwards and our guests could head straight to cocktails.
BAR:
We decided not to do a totally open bar (please--no debate!)so instead had an open bar from 5pm until after supper, and then did a loonie bar. It worked. Also, we did NOT close the bar during supper, only speeches, and I was happy with that decision.
DECOR:
We didn't decorate the church. I was happy with this decision. We only did a backdrop, floor length table covers, and chair covers for the reception. Chair covers was a major decision, as they were not cheap, but I think they really made the room look great.

FLOWERS:
I LOVED our flowers. One piece of advice: if your weather is going to be really hot or really cold, consider only having flowers from the ceremony on. We did our pre-ceremony pics without flowers, got our flowers at the ceremony and then took flower pics after. The flowers looked great at the ceremony and great afterwards because they were fresh and healthy.
CAKE:
Sliced Decadence in Saskatoon. LOOOVED the look and the taste. However, we ordered a cake for 200 people but even between the wedding reception and breakfast the next day, only anout 1/3 of it got eaten. I would order a smaller one next time.

ETC.:
-Make sure you have a great DJ. Ours was amazing and the dancefloor was packed ALL night, from the first song.
-Flip flop bucket: it was a huge hit! I would totally recommend it. We had 15 pairs for a wedding of 200 (I didnt think anyone would use them!) and they were snapped up in less than a minute.
-Enjoying the day: I didn't care about anything the day of, other than being with DH, greeting our guests and dancing. It didn't matter if things went wrong!
-Though I originally really wanted Save the dates, instead we built our wedding website (using
www.mywedding.com) and sent that out to our guest list, so that they were aware of our wedding date.
-FAVOURS: Instead of favours we did a charitable donation, with a card on each place setting explaining that 'in lieu of donations...' and I was really happy we did this.
-Greeting guests: We scarfed down some fruit and granola bars pre-reception, and during supper we went around to all 26 tables and thanked each and every guest for coming. We did this instead of a receiving line. Best idea ever, because we got our hello's out the way and then could dance.
-Give people little jobs! We had someone transporting flowers, making sure everything looked good just prior to the reception, etc. and it took lots off our minds.
-Booze: We ordered double what the liquor store told us, but we still almost ran out! If you have big drinkers, prepare!
-Hospitality room: The night before the wedding, we had a hospitality room at the hotel. It was a great way to visit with guests in town a day early and to get some greetings out of the way.
-"gift opening": instead of a gift opening, we had a come and go breakfast. More relaxing, less awkward, more visitng. So happy we did this.
-Speeches and slideshow: we kept them short. 4 speeches took 20 minutes, slideshow (which was fabulous) took 5 minutes. PERFECT!
-This isn't for everyone, but we skipped the garter toss, bouquet toss, and (as a last minute decision) the cake cutting. Everyone was having so much fun on the dance floor, we didn't want to interrupt.
-First dance: We picked a short (2 min) song. Great decision. Two minutes felt like an eternity.
-Card box: We had the guest book attendants (DH's teenage cousin) take up the cards to our hotel room as soon as the program started, so that it was safe.
I will add more as I think of it, but all in all it was a perfect day. I took the time to savour every moment of it (and made sure not to drink a ton--well, at least not until 11pm or so) and it was PERFECT in every way.
Thanks for reading!
(sorry for the blurring, but DH is shy!)

Hi!
I got married Jan. 16th as well. It was lovely in every way.
Pro's:
-pictures were gorgeous
-unique dress and accessory options
-change from the regular summer wedding (guests appreciate that!)
-less competing with other brides
Con's:
-pictures were a tad chilly (but not horrible)
-some people couldn't come because it was 3 weeks after Xmas, so they couldn't get time off/kids were in school/etc
I totally recommend a winter wedding! But I am biased.

My BM's paid for their own dresses, but I made sure they were on the inexpensive end of the scale. They paid for their own hair (but I didn't ask them to get it done) and for their own shoes (I told them to wear whatever they wanted).
I paid for their necklaces (I didn't require they match, but all 5 picked the same one), makeup, and pashminas. Oh and the hotel room for the night before.
I have seen that RBPB episode--it was very random!
