I'm convinced my DS had an allergic reaction to his poop yesterday (twice). Pretty sure he's teething. He was out with DH, but in the stroller the entire time. When they got home DH informed me that DS needed changing (apparently DH doesn't 'do' diapers...wasn't going to complain since he had both kids for a few hours). DS had welts all over. Mostly his legs, arms & face. My first thougt was that he'd been bit by something, but within minutes of changing him the welts went away. Fast forward 2 hours, same scenario. More welts, poop, change, disappear. Something similar happened to DD last summer when she was cutting her 2 year old molars. Wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or are my kids the only freaks??
He didn't eat anything out of the ordinary yesterday. I've wracked my brain & the only conclusion I can come to is an allergic reaction to something in his poop.

I woukdn't sweat it. Both my kids were similar. I almost got bumpers (twice) but didn't, they're both tummy sleepers so I guess 2 'risky' things was just not for me. The limb issue only happened a few times. As for the head thing....with DD I kept moving her as I figured her head must be hurting as she slept pressed against the top of the crib. I was waking a few times in the night just to move her & she'd always whine & creep back up. Then I read that they like to sleep like that, with a bit of pressure on their head! So I stopped moving her & she slept great! DS I never moved & would always find him at the top of his crib against the rails.

Guilt comes with being a mom. I think no matter what decision you make you'll fell guilty (the general 'you'). I didn't go back to work & have times where I feel guilty that I'm not in the workforce. But I'm sure if I was working I'd feel guilty that I wasn't home with my kids. Mommyhood = a lifetime of guilt. Don't beat yourself up.

Eeeek, Yes!!!! Totally like my 2nd labour & I was in denial all day as well since with my 1st my water broke so I knew labour was imminent. Is there a pattern to your cramps?? That's the biggest indicator. Go have a bath, that's what I did after my cousin recommended one & things definitely intensified after that. I went from 'am I in labour' to 'yep labour' to 'holy crap speed to the hospital as they're 3 min apart' in a matter of a couple of hours. DS was born a couple of hours after getting to the hospital.
Good luck!!

Seriously though, my friend's 3 year old stopped recently (due to a bout of HFM) and his teeth/overbite actually moved back and are much better now so there is hope. That being said, my friend also said her DS has been miserable for the 3 months since he stopped sucking his thumb and she wished he'd start again.

For us, the biggest issue is that I know DH feels a lot of stress & pressure as the sole bread winner. We haven't had to adjust our lifestyle as recent bonuses & raises more than made up for my lack of earnings, but DH feels the pressure to log the hours & plug away in order to keep up our lifestyle, kwim?? He's the spendy one, not me so it's his 'needs/extras' that he's satisfying. But, in the past we felt more stability since I had a job with pension plan & benefits to fall back on should anything happen to DH's career. He made a career change (for the 2nd time) 2 years ago & took a pay cut. At the time it wasn't a big deal as I went back to work. But now, to take a pay cut would be tough. Fortunately he's happy where he is, but that 'luxury' isn't as easily available anymore.

My first had a pretty predictable routine and solid 7pm bedtime by 12 weeks. My 2nd didn't have much rhyme or reason to his days/bedtime until 6ish months. His lack of structure was my fault, he was along for the ride but adapts well! That being said, he was/is a fantastic sleeper, much better than his sister! From 3 months on he was only waking once per night, and by 6 months he was STTN consistently with no sleep training required.

DD doesn't always eat dinner, I'd say she eats dinner 3-4 times per week. I've just accepted the fact that she eats when hungry and often has a big breakfast and lunch. We don't battle, she just has no interest. It doesn't help that we very rarely sit down as a family since DH isn't usually home until after 7. I feed DS around 5 and sometimes DD will eat, sometimes she doesn't. Sometimes she'll eat with DH and I. Sometimes not. I don't sweat it, I just feed her as much as possible when she decides she's hungry, case in point for breakfast this morning she had a bowl of cheerios then decided she also wanted oatmeal.

Usually when you build you get a designer who can help you choose colours, I'd recommend enlisting some help! Also. paint colour is often the last thing picked. When we built it went: Cabinets, flooring (hardwood/tile/carpet), counters, then paint. We used the tone of the flooring/cabinets/tile to help with pick our paint colours.
Also, the selections that are standard are VERY light, it can be tough. My sister picked what seemed to be a nice light beige, her house is yellow

. Friends of ours recently built and did the entire house in cloud white, they have grey tones for their floors/cabinets/counter. The white is very welcoming and refreshing and of course goes with anything! White is safe. We upgraded our paint, it wasn't a huge upgrade in terms of cost, and we're really happy with our darker tones.
Best of luck building! What area are you building in?

If they aren't bothering her then leave them, they will come to the surface eventually. Though they can be quite painful and you may need to dig them out if they're bothering her.
DD once had slivers all over her legs, she was crawling all over a wooden deck, she must've had 50+ slivers. They were small and didn't bother her though, my sister is a nurse and recommended we leave them. We gave her lots of baths and eventually they all came out on their own.

Oy, I'm not even going to say what we're currently spending on new bedding. We just ordered a new king size mattress (because I refuse to have another baby until I get a king size bed!) We've had too many not so great sheets that this time we just went for it.
What I haven learnt is thread count isn't necessarily the most important part, it's the type of cotton. Egyptian Cotton is the best. 400 thread count egyptian cotton is likely softer and more luxurious than 1000 thread count random cotton.
We're going with sheets, pillows and a new duvet from St Geneve. They're AMAZING. My current sheets are from Homesense, I've used them for 5 years although we've hated them. Current pillows are crap, I like our current duvet but apparently DH hates it and is now caught up in the various goose down loft counts. I made the mistake of taking DH shopping with me, and is insisting on this stuff. These sheets, duvet & pillows better last 20+ years.
DD has the Glukstein sheets on her bed, I've slept there a few times, they're very nice!

I use various (non) diaper bags depending on the situation. What makes a good diaper bag in my opinion is lots of SPACE! My diaper bag that I got when DD was born stays stocked in my mudroom, but I rarely take it out with me. Majority to the time I use my big Coach handbag. It fits a couple of diapers, wipes a snack for the kids, my wallet and cell. That's all I need. If I need more room, there's space under the stroller for things like a blanket, toys, more food.
If we're travelling or going out for the entire day, my handbag will contain my stuff and I'll grab a backpack for the kids stuff as they'll need more diapers, food, etc.

The barking is very distinct. Croup is essentially laryngitis, the vocal cords swell, due to the anatomy of babies/toddlers it constricts the airway. It can come on very suddenly & only seem bad at night. The younger the child the worse it is usually. I'm assuming you're talking about K since she told you what hurt, it very well could be a mild case of croup. If the coughing worsens take her outside or open her window, the cool air soothes the throat & essentially 'ices' the vocal cords reducing swelling. Cold drinks or Popsicles work great too!
The doctor won't do much, it's a virus & needs to run its course The cough can come and go for 10-14 days. If it's an extreme case then they give steroids to temporarily open up the airways. You don't want steroids if you don't need them, you'll end up with a hyper kid for a few days.
DD has had croup twice & didn't need meds; DS had it at 11 months & needed to be rushed to emerg where he was pumped full of drugs & admitted for a night. Your mommy instinct will tell you if it's that bad. FYI, DS went to bed perfectly fine, simply had a runny nose & woke 2 hours later lethargic and struggling to breathe; it can come on that quickly.
I have too much experience with Croup, I hate it!! Hope she's better soon!

DD was 75th percentile until she was 6 months old, then she dropped to the 10th and now hovers between 10-25th. I don't sweat it. She's little, that's just her. My DS is the same, he's in the 10th percentile for weight and 25th for height. I make small kids I guess despite the fact that my DH is 6'4".
When they do get sick it does worry me a bit as they don't have much to 'spare'. DD eats like a bird, some days I swear all she eats is breakfast. DS on the other hand eats more than me some days yet every time he's weighed he's in the 10th percentile.
I find it a bonus that their clothes fit for so long! DD is still wearing a few 12-18 month shirts, and all of her 18-24 month stuff still fits! We got 2 winters out of most her clothes.

I definitely recommend hiring one of the BM specialists. Best $50 we ever spent (then again, that was 8 years ago, maybe it's more now!?) We had someone come to our home, and help pick our paint colours. We loved the paint colours so much that when we moved 3 years later we used the same colours in our new home!
I always recruit the help of good salespeople/designers in stores. We're currently getting new bedding & wallpaper in our master bedroom, I'm working with a designer through a store to help pick everything out. It is a trial and error as I don't always like every designers' suggestions, but at least they usually offer a few different options or show you something you may not have thought of. I don't pay the designers/sales people I use, I come armed with pics of our space, paint chips, carpet samples, etc. In the end you have the final say, but it's great to get help!

I didn't vote as it's not an easy decision (hence why you posted, right!)
How busy is the street on house A?? I love that we live in a crescent and DD can ride her bike outside on our front sidewalk/street with all the neighbour kids. I know if we were one street over on the main street there's no way I'd send our kids outside in the front even with me out there too.
Of course, that being said, a bigger yard is a huge pro. As are the upgrades. You'll likely spend more building and not get as many upgrades. But, if the upgrades are not to your taste, is it going to bug you in the long term??
If we ever move again I'd love to find that perfect house that's already built, landscaped, etc. to avoid those headaches, but I'm picky and I doubtful that we'll ever find something 'perfect'...that being said finishings, fixtures and paint can be changed relatively 'easy' in the interior of a house, but you'll never be able to expand your yard or move your house. Does bigger yard trump being on a busy street?? I don't know the answer, it really depends on how busy the street is. Is the neighbourhood finished? If it's not, the street is likely only going to get busier.
I'm rambling, but to me, the busy street would probably be a huge turn off.

How much harder is 3 kids compared to 2?

I'd say you're over thinking it. If you can afford it, (financially, physically and mentally) and if you want another child then go for it. It will be harder financially, it's another mouth to feed, another child to put through school and activities, another body in your home that you need space for, another body in your vehicle, another plane ticket to buy if you want to vacation. Also if you have a career and are working, it'll be that much more difficult and expensive to find childcare. It will be harder physically; another pregnancy to go through, another child to run after, worry about etc. It will be draining mentally, it could be hard on your marriage at times if you're not both on the same page. BUT, if you feel like you can handle it then go for it. Don't over think it.
That's my mentality anyway. I've envisioned life with at least 3 children for a while now, so I'm not over thinking the logistics. Because they're just that, logistics. That being said, our home can accommodate another child, we've already got a vehicle that's big enough, financially we'll be fine and mentally, well....I might lose my mind for a bit but that's okay. Of course it'll be harder, but we'll make it work. I'm a good mom

, I'll figure it out! We have decided that I'll be a SAHM, and eventually will likely work very PT, I honestly can't imagine working FT and having 3 kids, especially as they get older and need to be carted around to activities every day.

Toss some. Chances are the new baby will just play with your DS' toys anyway. I'd hung on to our FP Laugh & Learn kitchen. DS never played with it, he much prefers DD's 'big girl kitchen', so it's in a donate pile in our basement along with a ton of other baby toys. All DS really used was the bumboo, Exersaucer, jolly jumper and a couple of babyish toys/rattles. Other than that he just plays with DD and her toys and has acquired some trucks of his own.
We plan to have another baby but I will be getting rid of 3/4 of our baby toys.

I'd likely ask MIL how much time she wants to spend with DD. But, I've never been one to worry about routine, and I've never been in the situation you've been in, I'd likely be ecstatic if my MIL wanting to spend time with her grandchildren

Every 2nd day sounds like a good compromise. On the days that your DD is in daycare would your MIL help deep clean the house, or get meals ready for the freezer or do your laundry? My Mom lives in the same city as me, but if she was staying with us, these are the things I'd envision her doing when visiting.

Mine are exactly 20.5 months apart. The gap has worked well for us, DD was born at the beginning of summer and I wanted my 2nd to be born in the spring. There was no jealousy issues when DS was a newborn baby so I didn't worry about DD hitting him or poking his eyes out

. DS was/is a fantastic baby and very easy to deal with, the difficult parts was navigating the first 6 months when DD turned 2. By then, DS was over 3 months old so we were in a bit of a groove with him, DD took most of my attention. They would both nap the afternoon away (most of the time!) until DD turned 2.5. We plan to have a 3rd and will again aim for an early-mid Spring baby and hopefully have anywhere from a 23-27 month age gap.

My DD fails at quiet time. She dropped her nap right around age 2.5. She's constantly on the go. She will sit and colour or do play doh for extended periods of time, but usually wants me to do them with her. She will watch TV for short stints too. But there's no such thing as quiet time in this house. In the summer my definition of quiet time will be sending her to play in the backyard with her new playhouse.

Definitely no clear answer. With DD I was paranoid that if we didn't intro a bottle right away that she'd never take one. Her first bottle was around 3 weeks. She only occasionally had bottles if I wasn't around and I never gave her one, she was probably having 1-2 per week. She had no 'issues'. Even when she hadn't had a bottle in a couple of months, she had no problem taking one for her sitter.
With DS I meant to do the same, but times were busy! His first bottle wasn't until closer to 1.5-2 months. Again, he took it no problem. He only had bottles very rarely for the first few months and at 5 months he flat out refused. No idea what was up with him those 2 days, but he's been fine ever since. My supply tanked right around 6 months, so I transitioned him to formula. He took it no problem from anyone but me. For a week I had anyone but me give him his bottles (I planned playdates around feeding and would say 'do you mind feeding DS!), after a week he was fine with me giving him his bottles.
My unscientific theory has always been to have other people give the bottles. They expect boob from you, and I think can sense/smell your milk so best to stay away.

If you're prepared to host a big shin-dig then by all means invite the neighbours! It sounds like it'd be quite a large party if everyone came though! We were invited to a first b-day party for one of our neighbours and the extent of our relationship is seeing each other outside and helping to move stuff around every so often. I went with DD, and brought a gift. Most people don't like to show up to a party empty handed anyways, I'm assuming you'd be providing food and beverages?

Just went to check it out based on your post! I do love this dress:
Not sure about the fabric. I'm actually surprised at the price. I just spent waaaay too much money on a couple of dresses and sweaters for DD at Mexx yesterday, might have to return one of them and pick up this dress!! I'm not crazy about the wrap dresses, but I do like that they're short sleeved, so many dresses are sleeveless and that just doesn't work in the springtime here (heck, it doesn't work most days of the summer in Cgy either!)
I wonder if the DVF stuff will ever go on sale, I refuse to pay reg. price at Gap, but maybe this stuff will be an exception to their twice a week promos??

We spend a lot of time in Kelowna. I've spent a few summers there, and we usually go at New Years and Easter. A few thoughts, it's really grey/cloudy all winter. You can go days/weeks without seeing the sun and it gets dark quite early there in the winter. We've found this plays a huge role in our mood. Maybe not a big deal if you're from Vancouver as it might be similar there?? Then again, the winters are short and the summer is gorgeous. There definitely aren't the same amenities a big city offers, but they do have a great Rec Center (It's a Y called H20) with programs and a fantastic pool. There's tons of great XC and downhill skiing nearby with kids programs. There's lots of great cycling in the summers and probably kids programs for that as well. Kelowna really is a big playground for activity. Lots of great beaches and parks and some really beautiful neighbourhoods. I can recommend a couple of great ones if you want.
Have you looked at job possibilities there?? The job market isn't very good there. So although it's less expensive to live, wages aren't great. Definitely look at employment opportunities before making a move.
