I'm not entirely sure of the reasoning, but I don't see it terribly different! It might be a bit of an adjustment to any friends/family though since you've likely introduced him as Lawson for the past few weeks.
If you prefer Levi, just call him Levi!

I don't really have a 'job description' per se, we still do most housework jointly.
My job is to care for DS. I also take care of appointments and the like (if I need to book Dr's appts, or make appts for car repairs/oil changes)
But I do not do the majority of the cleaning, I do not do all of the cooking. I am a SAH-MOM, not a housewife/housekeeper.
Housework still gets split pretty much 50/50. I do most of the grocery shopping/other shopping that needs to be done though.

So.... the posting is finally up for our 'last-chance' to get back to Alberta.
Details: We're in Regina, originally from Alberta, and were forced to move here after a layoff in AB. It's a very small field, and the Director in Edmonton who laid him off originally is going to be doing the hiring for the new centre. Problem: Part of the reason DH was the one who got laid off is that he only has a Masters degree, and the director is very pro-PhD.
Our ONLY hope to get DH a job back in Alberta is this new Cancer Centre opening up. The posting showed up yesterday. :urp: The job posting is requiring a PhD, but we're hoping that since it's not an academic facility, that they might make an exception and hire a lower qualification.
He's got his CV all primed up and ready to go, and feels that he's a super strong candidate. He has done several things since being laid off that make him a REALLY good candidate, and he's quite good at his job, and as far as he was concerned, he was thought of as a good employee in Edmonton.
Now, here's where we're unsure of what to do. Obviously he will submit his CV, but I'm thinking maybe he needs to send out an interest email to the Director to really reiterate how passionate he is about working at the new centre, and relocating us back home.
He doesn't know if that's a wise thing as a) the Director isn't a very professional person, and b) he thinks he probably won't care.
I think it's a great idea, and if it were ME applying for this job, I'd be emailing something to the effect of "Hello, just wanted to touch base with you in regards to the job posting. I just wanted to reiterate how interested I am in working at the new facility, how hard working I am, how you'll have a long-term employee, etc. etc. and I hope that I'll be seriously considered for all of the above reasons, among my excellent experience and qualifications since leaving Edmonton"
Is this something that is done? Good or bad idea? Anyone have any samples of what you would say?? It's also a little strange because it will be to someone he knows already, since he's already worked for him in the Edmonton facility. KWIM?
This is one incredibly stressful household tonight, and DH is feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I absolutely loved the mesh panties and pads. I have no interest in wearing the depends, I just can't wrap my head around wearing an actual incontinence product.
I asked the nurses for about 5-6 pair of the mesh panties, and took a stack of the big bulky hospital pads, and once the flow slowed down, I switched to thinner overnight pads.
I think I only used the hospital bulky pads for a couple days and then the overnight pads were sufficient for my blood flow.
You definitely will have more blood flow than with your section, when they do your section, they do a lot of suctioning to help with that while they've got you open.

We used Good Start from very early on, and we never used the Omega's.
I would advise that you should just buy some ready-to-feed if you're hoping to nurse. (And I wouldn't give a newborn powder anyway)
It'll be easier for you to just pour and feed. (more expensive at first, but once your milk comes in you can re-evaluate what your plan will be, if you want to FF at all)
But I'd just go with the basic Good Start, I don't feel that Omega's are necessary. (and can cause more upset tummy's than needed)

Mmmm, creamed onions. One of my guilty pleasures.
Slice the onions into rings, (thin or thick, doesn't matter) and toss into boiling water for about 2minutes only.
Make a cream sauce (milk, butter, flour) Douse onions in cream sauce and add S&P to taste.
*sigh* I'd eat it every meal if I could, and you could easily use up 2-3 large onions on a dish this way.

Soooo.... I refuse to try a new waxer, so haven't waxed since I was VERY pregnant with DS. Loved my old waxer in Edmonton, and then we moved.
I'm considering trying sugaring. Does it work WELL for bikini areas? (I have typical coarse darker hair down there. Sorry, TMI) I have a hard time even believing that sugaring works at all, how does it actually grab onto the hairs?? I envision it leaving patches and strays all over the place.
Is it less painful than waxing?
I nearly died when I got my brazilian done while pregnant with DS. They normally don't bother me at all, but apparently I am extra sensitive while pregnant. So I'm considering sugaring, since it's 'supposedly' less painful than waxing.
Anyone have any experience here to give some insight??

Update!
We are back from our vacay!
DS did okay, he took some major efforts on our part to keep him entertained.
Luckily the 3rd leg of flying the plane wasn't full so they were able to block a third seat for us, behind first class (ha!) in the "Economy Plus" or something, so there was a huge area for our feet, and DS could play on the floor a bit.
He did not sleep and was a cranky nasty monster by the time we got there. I gave him Kaopectate to stop the diarrhea, and it cleared up from then on. (so no poopsplosions!)
On the way home, the kid actually SLEPT on both flights. I couldn't believe it. All in all, a success!!!
We're headed to San Diego tomorrow morning for a much-needed vacation! I'm super excited, yet also verrryyyy nervous to go, so any good luck vibes would be much appreciated!
We have about 10hrs of travel-time, 3 flights, first flight is at 7am so we have to wake DS up SUPER early. (and he's a crankpot when it comes to sleep, and will NOT nap tomorrow, guaranteed)
He's also got diarrhea today and yesterday, and is currently cutting his 2yr molars.

He's on our laps, and I'm fat and pregnant. Plus, we have an uber short connection time in Minneapolis where we have to clear customs and recheck our baggage, and we *may* miss our connecting flight.
Should be fun, yes? lol I think we just need to GET there and it will be amazing, but send me some Godspeed, k?

If it's by mail, then I'd consider going to apply in person to speed it up. You can also pay a rush fee.
BUT, if *I* were you, I'd just take copies of stuff, and forget about updating your passport for now. And renew with new info when you get back so you know you haven't got any upcoming trips coming.

This is an AWFUL example, but we have something similar (in layout) over our couch.
We have a larger piece of artwork above the couch, and then 2 'accent' pieces on either side. We have espresso colored metal 'accents' on each side. Not at all like the ones in the photo, but we got them at Home Sense, and they go with the centre photo.

This is our bedroom, no photo of our living room. But it's the same idea, although more vertical than what you'd had above the couch, you'd probably want to go wider in layout, does that make sense?

Have a look at Oliver then. It's a very 'trendy' neighborhood, lots of amenities, and just on the outskirts of downtown. (short of a walmart type store, you'd have everything you need within walking distance. Resto's, hair salons, dentists, banks, grocery stores, Future Shop, Office Depot, there's Grant MacEwan University if you ever want to take a course or something, along with a great gym there. The nearest Walmart/Zellers type store is a bit further away, you'd need to drive.
There's a mall downtown with Sears and The Bay and other stores. Most of the festivals are held downtown. There's the theatre, art gallery, etc. downtown as well.
No idea of your budget, but Oliver could be a good fit for your desires!

I say rent. For sure.
There's actually not much doubt in my mind. Look into the logistics of the property management company, find out their fees, find out what you *might* be able to rent for your place and then you can have a more accurate picture of how much money you're going to 'lose' in the end.
If you SOLD, you'd wind up losing money anyway, AND wind up in a smaller house, maybe worse neighborhood, etc. I would rent with the intention that you will return to your current home. Either way it sounds like you're going to lose a bit of $$, so ignoring that fact for a minute, WHERE do you see yourself being the happiest after the move? In your current home? Or in a potentially smaller, maybe less nice home?
Lots to think about! Hypothetically.

I don't know what the 'norm' is, but that seems a little late to be only eating purees. By 8-9m, DS was eating finely diced foods, and also finger foods. (chunk of cucumber, green pepper, hunk of cheese, etc.)
I think at a year the only 'pureed' foods he was eating was mashed potatoes if we had some, or oatmeal for breakfast. He basically ate what we ate, but I often used the slapchop to dice it up if it was tough to chew. (ie. steak or chicken) Note: He had zero teeth until he was 13m
That being said, in your situation, I would just start offering more finger foods, adding some finely diced stuff to his current purees to texture them up a bit, and hope that he starts eating better soon!

I totally agree with you Tatania in regards to the complaining and blah blah blah, but I can't seem to get over the fact that they have nothing but a bunch of incompetent idiots working there. (Admin included.)
It's REALLY not hard to fix some of the issues that arose from the switch, and THAT is what bugs me. I couldn't care less if there are two forums, and I most certainly don't care that they separated it and made it hard for some posters.
BUT, they could have handled the aftermath in a better way. And the way they're handling it (or lack thereof) now is incredibly frustrating for me. Whether or not the forum is 'worth' it to them, I have no idea. But WHY did they even want to change it in the first place if not? They must have had reason. They put all this time and energy into coding a new forum, yet don't care enough now to actually make it WORK?
I have said it before, but if this were MY forum? And *I* was SJM? I'd be doing one of the following:
a) Reverting back to WB and the old code/set up, realizing the switch was a failure since no one can obviously fix any of the bugs
b) firing Admin because IMO she's a [censored] employee. (and I say this in comparison to HeAdmin)
c) doing some damage control with the techies to get some issues in order.
If this was supposedly one of the few forums that are this successful, I'd be doing something to maintain that.

You can usually find the Radians at boutique type stores, and *most* will allow you to take their floor model out to your car to try. (leave a license/credit card or something as collateral)
That's what we did when we bought the Radian. (I looooove my radian)
Also, I *believe* the Radian and Britax are the only convertibles that allow for bracing against the front seats, IF YOUR VEHICLE allows for it. (I think advanced airbag systems say no, like side curtains and whatnot) so you could have the carseat touching the drivers/passengers seat, braced against it. But look into this part to be sure. (We have our Radian braced behind the driver's seat, which is allowed in our Odyssey, but it's not allowed to be braced behind the passenger seat due to airbag stuff. Middle is also allowed, as long as the seat is 'level' and both front seats are pretty close in positioning.)

I'm not sure of the space allowance, but you should look into getting a buffet for under the window cutout. (there's no counter/cupboards there, right?)
We have this one from Jysk, and while it's not great quality, we painted it white to match the cupboards and it makes a WORLD of difference. It's not terribly deep, but you could put your dry goods, or plates/cups/mugs there, or small appliances. (and it's cheap which is good!)
http://www.jysk.ca/olav-pine-buffet.htmlIt's fairly shallow, so if I'm reading your floorplans/photos properly, you should still have enough clearance. (IF you can move the fridge the other way, which I don't see as an issue, you might just have to change the swing on the door.)

You won't lose your mat leave because it's already been earned. You can quit and it not be affected.
(Now, correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't had to look into this for a while, but this is my understanding):
That being said, if you are going to receive any payouts of any kind (vacation, stat pay, bonus, top-up, or anything you've got banked) You will lose ALL of it to EI.
Every penny. For example, if you get paid 2000.00 from your payout, EI will deduct dollar for dollar until it is repaid. (So if you get 408/week, you would forfeit EI deposits for 2 full payments, plus a portion of the next cheque.
So if you're going to resign, be prepared to lose anything that's banked.

I gotta say, I try reaaallly hard not to judge other parents, but today I most certainly did, and it's actually STILL got me worked up.
I went to buy some mat clothes from an acquaintance (only met her twice, didn't even know she smoked) and her house was a CLOUD of smoke. I actually had a hard time breathing inside.
Poor kids... She has two. One is 10 months old, who sat on the floor contently breathing in the smoke while I was there, and another little guy who's 4. This is like they chain-smoke all.day.long, I was only there for 15 minutes but my clothes actually wreak over 30 minutes after leaving.
The kicker? Asthma inhalers and baby aerochamber masks were strewn about the house.
Seriously?? It made me want to cry. Poor kids have asthma yet Mom & Dad are still smoking up a storm in the house?

Especially these days, when we know the dangers, yet we're still subjecting little innocent children to it?? *sigh*
Sorry, not wanting to start a big smoker vs. non-smoker fight, but I'm just disgusted and need to vent somewhere. Bah.

Major career/life change - thoughts?

At what point do you decide that your happiness is worth more than financial stability, job, etc. ??
DH and I have one last shot at returning home to AB (likely a job opportunity to come later in the fall), and while we think we have a good shot at getting the job, there's a very real possibility that it won't happen. We've been holding out hope for this last chance.
I feel like we've given this move a fair shot, we've both attempted to settle in here, even if it's only been for the 'short-term' from the get-go, but it has been far from easy, it's actually been quite the failure. And we're both very unhappy, DH doesn't like his job here due to politics and some of his coworkers, while I still have no friends and am VERY lonely all the time.
I feel like we're just surviving, existing from one day to the next, not really enjoying life to its fullest.
So at what point do we decide that our happiness is worth the change? At what point is it worth DH having to give up his 9 years of education, and (VERY) well paying job? (With no real back-up job plans)
Obviously we wouldn't go without a plan, without a means to support our family, but it could very well be a huge pay-cut in which we'd have to change our standard of living, have to sacrifice in other areas, etc.
Sorry, I am kind of rambling, but I'm wondering if anyone else has been in a similar place? Or has any insight/opinions?

I would move back in a heartbeat. *sigh*
I love Edmonton. LOVE. There are very few complaints I had about living in Edmonton, so do realize that MANY love it there, and some do dislike it.
I think you'll find the winters to be probably a bit better in Edmonton, the wet Quebec winters are generally bone-chilling cold as opposed to Edmonton's dry winters. Many people I know from Ontario->East say they MUCH prefer Edmonton winters.
In fact, I know of several people who've moved from Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto who would NEVER leave Edmonton.
I think Edmonton is similar to Mtl in the sense of Festivals. It's considered a festival city, and there's always plenty to do at any given time in the summer months. Winter - not so much, but it depends on what you like to do!
The biggest thing you'll find is probably a bit of 'culture shock'... things in Mtl are much more European, while Alberta is much more 'American' if that makes sense.
Public transportation isn't nearly as efficient/easy/widespread as in Mtl, but if you're planning on having a vehicle, I wouldn't let that deter you.
I say you should go for it.... BUT, you should be very okay with the notion of leaving your family/friends behind. Will you and DH be willing to get out there and make friends? Will you be okay with not seeing family as often?(If they're even close to you now)
If you think you'll be okay in that regard, I say GO FOR IT! Embrace the culture change, embrace the beauty and wonderful (albeit different) things that Alberta has to offer you!

I'm kinda fat all around.

We just bought a new TV for the bedroom yesterday, so up until then, we were a 2 TV household. One in the living room and one in the rec room in the basement.

http://www.londondrugs.com/Cultures/en-U...mp;ProductTab=3I really like the tablet style for the car (as opposed to a laptop style), dual screen (although the same show/movie plays on both), it comes with the headrest attachments, the power cords are long enough to rear-face, and the quality is decent.
I figure for 90 bucks, even if they only last a few years, it's worth it. And they play other digital files too, not just DVD's. (if you do any downloading)
