If you're tracking your food, what is your calorie intake? And are you tracking everything (milk, sugar, honey etc. in coffee, that one square of chocolate)? Are you measuring your food, or are you estimating? You could be way underestimating how much you are eating. One chicken breast can vary in size by 50-100g which is a huge calorie variation). One tablespoon of salad dressing is hard to get right if you're estimating how much you're putting on, so measuring is the way to go. Are you eating enough calories to support your workouts? What is your protein/fat/carb ratio (ie if you're working out so much, are you getting enough protein)?

Question: Are there any downsides to just going with Option 2? Most of my EI-eligible income was paid out in the last 6 months, since I had little EI eligible income from May-Aug 2011.
If you make less than the max, then going with option 2 (to consider all of your income) will make your payout less. Your average will be higher if you exclude small weeks. Remember that the number of small weeks to be exclude (option 1) will depend on your region. So if you have a lot of small weeks, maybe you will only have two excluded, so you can resort to finding your smallest 2 weeks.
Question: With Option 2, will they still consider the hours worked for the whole 52 weeks? (I'm unsure if I will have enough hours in just the 6 months to qualify).
No just the last 6 months. 52 weeks determine hours for eligibility, 23 weeks determine the pay out.
Question: Will choosing Option 2 over Option 1 delay the processing of my application?
Nope, not at all. Most people don't have small weeks at all and they get paid in the same time.
Question: When they ask for income, they mean EI-eligible income, correct? Ie. They are not asking for my non-taxable scholarship income (I just realized I should have asked the Service Canada rep that question).
Don't know, but I don't think things that did not have EI deducted count. Ie. yes only EI-eligible income, but I don't know how that applies to small weeks (ie. option #1)
BTW, it does suck with multiple jobs to figure out small weeks.

I'm ambivalent to the topic:
Pros
-some evidence suggests that it is more effective. Note that any "new" program offered by highly motivated teachers that is highly scrutinized tends to be more effective.
-the theory behind the reasoning for the effectiveness is sound.
Cons
-Child care
-Summer school (high school)
-Summer jobs (high school)
-Infrastructure (many school don't have a/c - would have to be installed)
-What kids do while off. If the vacation occurs when the weather is nice (summer, early fall, lat spring), then kids can go out and pay. If the vacation occurs when the weather is not so nice, kids are more likely to stay inside and play video games. Yes, some will take up winter sports, but many parents don't have the money. Parks are free. Which would you prefer?
I know they're talking about implementing it in elementary schools, but if high schools and elementary schools are on different calendars, many parents will lose their child care.
As for implementing it in high school. High school (in most Ontario schools) is already semestered so the lag between the grade 9 and grade 10 version of a course is at least 6 months already. The skills are still lost over that time frame.
I think they need to do a long-term study on the effectiveness of year-round schooling in a wide variety of neighborhoods (affluent, high new comer, high ESL, inner city, suburban, etc.) before widespread implementation. I also think that the input of the parents as to the pros and cons of this need to be heard.

Be aware that the building code in Ontario has just changed this year to require all new builds to work to an E80 standard. So comparing currently built homes, with ICF isn't a valid comparison.
Here is a link to the current insulation requirements
E80 Perscriptive Requirements (Yes, I read the whole thing. No I'm not building a house)
What you're really looking at is a comparison of traditional (or non-traditional) insulation and ICF.
Traditional insulation has lots of weak points. The posted r-value isn't consistent year round dew to dew-point effects). This can be negated by the use of spray-foam insulation (possible environmental issues here). There is a lot of heat loss due to thermal bridging (heat is conducted through the wooden frame of the house - this can be dealt with, but it is tricky - search double stud wall or I-beam construction).
ICF has a smaller r-value (less insulation), but it is consistent year-round. It hold thermal mass (so the sun heats it during the day and the heat is released into the home during the evening). Also it decreases thermal bridging (depending on which particular ICF you use). It is more expensive and the posted r-values are less, but it has a great reputation. It is also great at minimizing air leakage.
A final option (without getting to woo-woo out there) is to investigate SIPs (structured insulated panels). This kind of construction is more expensive. It has a consistent and high r-value. It minimizes thermal bridging, and decreases construction time, but it is more expensive.
If I were building a new home and I had the money, I would take the SIP route. This is only because I couldn't find a good apples-to-apples comparison of ICF versus insulation (SIP is just a structured insulation). ICF does have a great reputation though.

Dear body,
Thank you for participating in my weight loss journey. You have been a wonderful and fun companion who kept me going when I wanted to quit.
That being said ... you are now starting to put your own agenda forward and that is not how this partnership began. So I respectfully ask you now, please listen to my desires.
1) My cup size had decreased to a point where I am not quite flat, but I will be soon. Please cease all weight loss from the chestal area.
2) My c-section pouch is still there. I would like to see that area evened out please and thank-you.
3) If the extra loss as the waist is too much to ask, there are other areas that could still use some trimming like my thighs, buttocks, and arms. Please consider these as alternatives to further boob-loss.
In summary, my boobs are great now leave them alone.
Thank You
Your owner
PS. It would be nice to tolerate some sugar at some point.
PPS. If this is revenge for the lack of sleep. I reiterate that it is not my fault.
Add you own

My sister and I didn't get along growing up, but once I moved out for university, we became pretty close. I think it was partly because I took on some of the mothering role growing up (mom died when I was 10, sis was 3). I don't get to see her too often as we live in different cities and we work opposite "shifts", but we keep in touch. She's up on the details of my life, and I'm on the details of hers.
I'm also pretty "close" with my brothers. My brothers are still young. They're in grade 9, 8, and 4. So they share their lives with me, and they get to share the happy parts of mine (but don't know about my m/c, etc.) . They come over every once in a while and babysit. DS loves them just as they love DH. It is wonderful to watch them.
My oldest brother is the intellectual (or so he likes to think). We have conversations, do geeky things, talk about school, and play board games.
My middle brother is the creative one and gamer. We have computers, and games in common. So we spend time together doing that, and playing board games. If one of my brothers is going to call, it is him (usually about his computer) Plus he's amazing with DS. He's the best babysitter of them all at least with DS.
The baby is a bit of everything. He and I have the most distant relationship as I haven't yet found out what we have in common. We do some video gaming together. He dotes over DD which I love.
I love my sibs dearly and would do pretty much anything for them ever.

I would move because I know that (here) if that job becomes permanent in a year I could move into it and it would only be one year off. I would take 1/6 time contract over a full-time LTO any day (even at the worst school with the worst reputation).
If you're planning to stay long-term (ie. more than 3 years), I would try for a contract and stop LTOing.
But then again, I had 2 kids while on the supply list so as to avoid waiting forever to TTC, and I likely passed up a number of great opportunities, so I'm not really one to talk.

We have 1 tv, but with no cable, satellite, or even antenna, it is used pretty much exclusively for DS to watch backyardigans before bed. We do however have 3 laptops (2 personal, 1 work). DH is tall (6 feet 1 inch) and healthy (183 lbs, not overweight, not obese, not skinny either- anymore). He's started to fill out a bit. He wants to get back to exercising, but I've been the priority lately. He'll be starting running in May. I'm short (5 feet) and healthy now (123lbs). We both have a tiny little belly. That's his only "extra" fat except for a little bit of love handles. I still have extra on my legs and arms.

Sorry, I gained 57lbs last pregnancy. I am no help. I ate so that I wouldn't be sick. Then I ate because I could eat food that I couldn't before and not feel sick (sugar was a no-no pre-preg, but fine during).
I currently have very little will-power. It still makes me sick, but I'll eat it. So now it isn't in the house. I keep convenient snacks. Greek yogurt plus frozen blueberries is a yummy creamy tasty snack, and is prepared in 30s. I would take that with me. Then I add two pieces of "fruit" (an apple, and a pepper or a tomato - no prep) some chopped veggies if I have time to prep it, and leftovers for lunch (again no prep). As long as I have more snacks than I need (keep some nuts, or healthy cereal with you in a baggie), I don't reach for the convenient stuff when out, and I have something in case of a "I need to eat right now or I'll kill that squirrel and eat it raw" attack.

What do you use?
We're thinking that DS's constipation may be dairy related. So we're looking at getting rid of dairy as a trial.
The problem is that DS loves milk, cheese, and yogurt. He eats a pretty limited diet and I hate to eliminate anything.
We need to replace these.
I tried rice milk today and am now covered in it, so is the floor, his potty, himself. Yes he spit it everywhere. He doesn't like it. I think because it was sweetened (plus it tastes kind of like rice, which he doesn't eat). I couldn't find an unsweetened version.
I'm leery of soy. With his eczema, I am also leery of almond milk (plus it can't be used at his daycare and it has a bitter aftertaste). Coconut milk from our local store isn't enriched (so what's the point). I've tried hemp (it was gross). I'm turning back to soy as the only alternative.
We have rice cheese (the vegan - no dairy stuff) to try, but I don't think that will fly either. We'll try it in grilled cheese first since he soaks that in ketchup.
So anyway, what do you do?

We use our TFSA to hold our emergency fund. These are our investments. This way we can get at it quickly, but we're not taxed on it. It also makes us more likely to rebalance our investments as we can sell without paying capital gains (which I hate doing). If we never use it, it will be part of our retirement plan.
Basically if you're going to use it this month - don't do it (because withdrawal and deposit rules can be funny if you're doing too much in one calendar year).
I figure that if you're saving up for short term savings (over one year - like a trip), medium term savings (car, house, or reno), or long term (retirement), then it is a fine vehicle to use.

-RRSP - spousal $50/biweekly
