Thanks for the advice so far!
@scrumhalfgirl - I usually make it to level 4.5 and then have to walk a bit (usually for 2-3 passes) and then I can get back and finish up to level 6 or 6.5. I have found an mp3 and have it on my blackberry so I can self administer - I've tried to pace out 20m but I'm not sure if i have the distance correct. I like your suggestion of a light warm up and then doing the beep test.
When I said 1-2 runs/wk I meant that on top of interval training. LOL. Not just by itself. That would just not do anything for me anymore (the 1 run/wk).

@MrsPL - I've never heard of Tabata intervals but now you've gotten me all curious. I just looked it up and it sounds like a really good work out!!
Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming!!!

Hello ladies!
I need some new and exciting ideas to add to my fitness routine. Right now I'm doing mostly running with a bit of interval training. I'm going to be changing it up though and focusing mostly on interval training and doing 1-2 runs during the week.
The goal: successfully pass the PREP test for policing. I'm very close on the circuit so I'm not overly worried about that (I'm 3 sec off the passing time of 2:42 sec) so what I need to focus on is improving my CV endurance for the 20m shuttle run aka 'beep test.'
(For those of you who haven't heard of this, it's a test where you run back and forth 20m at progressively faster speeds until you can't. To pass you have to reach level 6.5. Each 1/2 level is 5 passes or 100m. So it's like running 1300m faster and faster).
Any hints, tips or even people who have successfully passed this test would like to weigh in would be really appreciated!!

I'm going to try and add some things to this list too. I would like to re-emphasize that every labour, delivery and postpartum experience is unique. I think I had what some people would call a hard delivery (DD got stuck in my pelvis, was a vaccuum extraction, etc) but I have to honestly say, at almost 20 days postpartum, I'm feeling pretty good about things.
~ Peri bottles and sitz baths are your friend. And yes, I was scared to pee after giving birth but even after second-degree lacerations and an episiotomy, the peri bottle helped alot and made the experience not too bad. And also - drink LOTS of fluids after giving birth - this will help dilute your urine so it doesn't sting as much. Once at home, you should try and spend some time air-drying your nether regions after a sitz bath - this helps the healing process.
~ The hospital I delivered at had frozen maxi pads available to the mothers to use. USE THEM!! They were amazing at dulling the pain. Also good friends are Witch Hazel (helps clean out the stitches and dulls pain) and those personal cleansing wipes by Playtex (great for using instead of toilet paper, especially after BMs).
~ I also put in a vote for religiously taking Advil every four hours to dull the pain. I took ibuprofen in the hospital and for about two weeks at home. And stool softener is definitely your friend whether or not you had a c-section or vag birth. I was scared of my first BM and had no reason to be.
~ Sitting on the toilet may be difficult. I felt like my stitches were stretching/tearing everytime I went to the bathroom... So I ended up not sitting completely and more squatting over the bowl for the first few days. It was just more comfortable.
~ Not everyone gets shakes or nightsweats or other side-effects. I went into second stage labour without an epidural and then had to get one after two hours of pushing. I don't think having an epidural or not having one decides whether or not you'll have post-delivery shakes. I didn't get them. Same with the nightsweats. I didn't get nightsweats but I did sweat profusely during the day for the first week. My feet were also quite swollen until about a week postpartum. I asked my MW about this and she said that because I had to have a pitocin drip once I got the epidural, the swelling is caused by the oxytocin in my system and it was just my body getting rid of it. My feet did go back to normal by my 2 week appointment.
~ Do not weigh yourself immediately. After about a week I stepped on the scale and was horrified to see that I had only lost 10lb. Compare that to two weeks postpartum and I'm down 20lb already. So don't step on the scale right away.
~ Don't overpack your hospital bag. Find out what the hospital actually provides as I ended up only using maybe 1/3 of the stuff I packed. They provided maxipads to use as well as disposable underwear (way more comfortable than my granny panties as they stretch and are easy to put on). What I found the most useful was having some baggy t-shirts and shorts to wear around the hospital so I wasn't stuck wearing the stupid hospital gown.
~ Take a shower in the hospital as soon as you feel up to it. It really helped me feel like a person again and it's a great way to just clean up a bit.
~ Yes, you bleed alot initially but it does die down.
~ Expect the unexpected. DH and I registered for a private hospital room and due to the amount of women in the hospital delivering at the same time, we didn't get it. So instead of us having our own private time and DH being able to stay with me round-the-clock, we got stuck in a semi-private room and DH had to leave each night. That first night alone was quite overwhelming as I was still in pain and had to care for DD as well.
~ When it comes to being a first-time parent - everyone around you will have an opinion (it'll be as bad or worse than when you were pregnant). Honestly, just trust your natural instincts and you'll be fine. We all make mistakes and as long as you have your LO's best interests at heart, you will be a wonderful parent.

I asked DH to help with this one as he went through a divorce before we met. With his divorce, he believes he got the decree 4-6 weeks after the final agreement. After that, he could get the certificate of divorce but never picked one up until we decided to get married and had to have it to obtain our marriage license. HTH.

I was not married previously but I was CL for five years with a man years before I met DH. We were engaged for almost two years and it took me almost six months from the time I started to feel like something was wrong to the point where I made the decision to leave. For me it was like PP, I just had a feeling and when it was time I just knew. There was so much I could tolerate and then one day I had had enough. It wasn't any one single event, just a culmination of everything.

If it's Patrols then I would suggest long evening gown if it's to the dinner that you are going to. Are you going to the Change of Command parade or to the dinner/dance in the evening or both? If you're going to the parade during the day then business suit attire is appropriate.
Regarding mess dinners:

Civilian members or guests will wear black tie/evening gown or business suit/casual elegant.

Yes, the RCMP is like the Canadian Forces. Instead of having a provincial health card they have the federal gov't "health card." For the military it's a Blue Cross card. It really confuses some health care providers but it's just like any other insurance coverage.

It sounds like all doctors are just a bit different. When I got my BFP, I was around 4-5 wk pregnant. I called my doctor and was booked in to be seen around the 6 wk mark. He confirmed my pregnancy (another pee test), did a pap and asked if I wanted a referral to an OB. As I had already made arrangements to be with a MW, I told him this (and he was surprisingly very supportive of my choice) and he said okay. Did up the requisitions for my prenatal bloodwork and also for my IPS screening (which, after meeting with the MW and further discussing this, we decided not to do) and that was about it for my first appointment. He encouraged me to come by if I needed anything... And that was it. Since then, my MW has taken care of everything prenatal for me. And as MWs are a bit different from OBs, almost all my appointments are 45-60min in length.

I would suggest putting in your real temperatures.
Just looking at your chart, everything still looks good and I'm sure FF will give you your O date and coverline back soon. I just noticed the open circles though - are you temping at the same time each day? That can effect your BBT a bit too... The VIP feature of FF has the temp adjuster if that helps.

IMHO and as PPs have pointed out, I think TTC-ing is a very personal and private matter between DH and I. We didn't share with anyone when we actually started trying even though I had mentioned to a few very close girlfriends how wonderful it would be to have a LO and that we would be trying in the future. Everyone's TTC journey is different and for me, I think actually telling our parents that we are [were] starting now, would just add that extra unwanted pressure of trying to get a BFP right off the hop.
Quote:
See, I guess I am just looking for their "blessing" really.. otherwise, I wouldn't say anything. I know this seems silly because I know I don't need their blessing, but I guess it's just that I think I would feel better knowing for sure they would be thrilled and not thinking we should hold off a little while more..
I think you almost answered your own question here... Other than seeking their "blessing," there doesn't seem to be any reason to share the tidbit of information that you are/will be TTC shortly. The question to ask yourself is, what is the worst case scenario (e.g., they will not be supportive of your decision to TTC now) and can you deal with this? Personally, I don't think their opinion should matter to you and that is why I would share the news of the BFP only and hold off announcing that you are TTC.
Just my two cents.

In addition to our mortgage, we're still paying my student loan from university, one car loan and one bank loan (consolidated debts from DH's divorce, etc). As PPs have mentioned, it's more whether or not the debt is manageable, especially considering that once I'm on mat leave, I only get EI as my work doesn't top me up. So we have to make sure that our costs are manageable even with only DH's paycheque and my EI... which it will be so it's all good.

My m/s started around 5 wk and I couldn't have coffee until last week. I was just too turned off by it. Same with pop drinks. So my caffeinated beverages were completely eliminated from my diet for those 10 weeks. I can drink a little pop now (I still find it too sweet) and I'm ok for coffee as long as it's not my first drink in the morning... I limit myself to 1-2 caffeinated beverages per day at the max now but most days I won't have any.

this THREAD Quote:
To get your BFP? Did you do anything different? I started drinking green tea this month, just curious if anyone did anything different when they got their BFP. Thanks!!
What I did:
- bought a new BBT thermometer because I didn't like my old one... seriously
- started EPO and took it as per recommendations (2 pills, 3x daily) until my suspected O date
- took a thermos of pomegranate green tea to work everyday pre-O and made a point of drinking it all
- decided to have a stupid UTI right around my average O time
- realized I hadn't O'd when I thought I had and started taking EPO again
- got slack in my charting and now I can't figure out if I actually O'd on CD 17, 20, 22 or 23... LOL

I've finished paying off one of my three student loans - one of the Canada Student Loans that was taken over by an independent company. I still have part of my CSL and my OSL that I'm paying towards. If you have your loan through a bank (which I'm assuming most banks hold the loans) then you can put additional monies towards the loan throughout the month. The easiest way to do this I find is by online banking where you can see the loan. One important tidbit of information my financial advisor shared with me is to never consolidate your student loan with other loans as you will never get an interest rate as low as your student loan. Also, talk to your bank rep because you should be able to change your payments from monthly to biweekly if you want... this will definitely help you put a bigger dent in the loan.

Congratulations! I know how wonderful that must feel. I'm making my last payment on my National Student Loan this month... I still have another 20k total in my OSAP loan that I'm still paying, but having one done is in itself a great feeling.
