Oh, I forgot about the crib bedding...you know, the set I never used. *L* I wish I could have bought pieces instead. We've only ever used the dust ruffle (or whatever the part that goes around the underside of the crib is called) and the fitted sheet. The bumper pads and comforter have been sitting in the bag in a closet since we got it with DS#1.

I rigged up something to get it to fit on the side of the crib. I'll try to explain it but maybe I'll grab a quick picture later to help.
On mine there were two strings that I'm guessing were to tie the bottom of the mobile down to secure it. Instead I wrapped the two white "ladder" attachments over the top of the rail and had them meet together in a V so that the two bottom holes lined up. I then fed both of those strings through the hole, pulled to tighten and then wrapped them back around the back of the ladder and tied it in a knot. It is actually a pretty secure install.
I know that only makes so much sense. I'll try to get a picture later of I can.

Sure! I posted when I got it (and my Kirby's) but it was way back on page 24 so I'll quote myself and post them again. I was worried about the pictures being too big but now I worry they are a bit too small to do the bag justice. I think there may also be pics of mine in Obleek's Flicker account of completed projects.

Okay, here they are!
Large Abby in Antique Damask on Black with bright green interior:

The inside:

I have it stuffed with: 1 spare change of clothes for each boy, 2 cloth diapers for each boy, a wet bag, my nursing cover, a receiving blanket, 3 size 2 & 3 size 5 disposable diapers (as backup dipes), wipes, bum cream, small bottle of Tempra, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, my wallet, my cell phone, and in the outside elastic pockets a bottle of water and ODS's sippy cup. I still have tons of room to put more if I want!
For the inside I had 3 pockets put on one side and 4 on the other...in hindsight I wish I had done 2 one one side and 3 on the other instead. I think I got the measurements mixed up a bit when figuring out how much space I'd have in each pocket. It was a bit of a tight squeeze to put the disposable dipes in the side pockets and I can't fit my wipes case. No biggie though!
Here is me wearing the stuffed bag:

Despite all the stuff I have in there it still "wears" nicely if that makes any sense. It doesn't look overstuffed.
And here are the 2 Kirby's I ordered. The one on the left (in Sophistica with red lining) is for my SIL for Christmas. The one on the right is for me to match my Abby:

(I hope the pictures are sized okay, Photobucket hates me!)

I had boudoirs done between the boys. Actually, I got pregnant with Isaac the month after I had them done. It was so much fun! I did know the photographer already since she had done my maternity photos and family photos for us before.
I was really happy with them. Like a PP mentioned, I went on a bit of a shopping spree at La Vie en Rose so I had some fun new outfits. It's true how you get more comfortable as the shoot progresses so the advice to use your least fave outfit first is great.
It was pricey but in my opinion totally worth it. The look on DH's face when I gave him the album was priceless. He never expected that I would have ever had pictures like that done so it was a complete surprise. Have fun!

I am the MC at my brother's wedding this weekend. Tonight we were going over some details and he mentioned that they want me to tell people not to take the centerpieces as they are provided by the venue.
I don't think anything really needs to be said. In my mind, unless there is the centerpiece giveaway game, I assume they stay. My brother is adamant that he wants something mentioned though as he thinks some of the guests may try to take them and they are quite pricey if they get charged for any stolen.
So how to I say that in a classy and maybe even humorous way that doesn't insult anyone. I was thinking something along the lines of, "I'm sure you've noticed the beautiful centerpieces on your table that the staff here have done such a fantastic job of putting together. If we could all make sure they remain here this evening, it would be greatly appreciated by the staff here at "venue".
Gah, I don't know how to say it! Help!

Okay, I've been stalking this post (as well as both BB and Misc Etsy threads) for a while now. I've been lusting after an Obleek bag for a while and DH just told me today he's going to get me one!
I'm going to get the large Abby to use as a diaper bag but I'm looking for an opinion of the fabric choice. I want something fairly neutral so I can carry it no matter what I'm wearing. I think I have it narrowed down to the Antique Damask on Black:

With a lime green interior.
Do you think that the Abby will look good in this fabric? Or will it seem too "busy". *Sigh* I've been wanting one for so long that I thought I had decided on what I wanted. Now that I can actually order one I'm second guessing all my choices. *L*
(BTW: Whatever I choose, I'm going to get a matching clutch to go with!

We just went through a phase like this and it was awful!
Like you, at first I was thinking it wasn't too bad but then as it carried on, my feelings were really getting hurt. It was to the point that I was sure DS hated me - a screaming fit in Rona where he was slapping my hands to keep ME from pushing the cart and yelling "NO! NO! Dada!!" had me in tears! It was even at night where if DS woke up and I went in he would scream and cry and call for "Dada".
Like you, I tend to be the "tough guy" and I'm also the one who drops him off at daycare in the mornings (DH gets to be the fun guy who picks him up). I kept trying to rationalize that maybe that's why it was happening. I was also worried that he could somehow sense that his world is about to change with the new baby on the way and was blaming me for being pregnant (I know, I know,
d@mn pregnancy hormones! *L*)
It went on for about a good week and then just stopped. He still loves his Dada and wants to be with him but I'm back in the good books and he still wants me again too! I was so frustrated when people kept telling me it was a phase but it really was and it did pass. Hang in there!

It will get easier!
The first week that Lukas was at his dayhome, there were a lot of tears and having to peel him off of me to hand him over. One day he cried off/on so much that he lost his voice! The second week, we still had tears but he would be okay a few moments after I left. It slowly got better and better and now we are at the point where he can't wait to get there in the mornings and he's practically closing the door on me as he waves good-bye! *L*

I wasn't sure where to post this so here I am. MIL has told us that she would love one of those earring stands or earring trees for Xmas. Something she can organize her earrings on and display on her dresser at the same time.
We went out to the mall today and returned empty handed. Everyone knows what we're talking about but doesn't have any. We've been online all night searching Etsy, eBay.ca, Amazon, etc. We have found some nice one's but the sellers either don't ship to Canada or the shipping costs more than the stand itself.
So here I am! Does anyone know where I can find one of these? I'm going to check some of the smaller shops in our area this week but if anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!

Hi All! I'm so glad this post was started! I'm still around alhough I tend to lurk now more then anything. I just don't have the time I used to to post as much anymore.
We're all doing well. Lukas is growing like a weed. He's still my little "string-bean" but has definately put on more weight in the last little bit. I'm not sure of the exact #'s when it comes to weight and height. We have an appointment for his 15 month vaccines at the end of November so I guess I'll find out then.
No walking here yet but he's the fastest crawler I've ever seen! He does cruise around the furniture very well and will walk when holding our hands or with his walking-car but has yet to attempt any wobbly steps on his own. He's surprisingly good at going both up and down stairs (with us right there with him of course). There have been lot's of bumps and bruises to be had but luckily none too serious.
Not a lot of words but Lukas will babble away all the time. He'll seem so serious while he tells you a whole "story". He does say "Mama" and "Dada" and says the cat's name too, only he says "Skish" instead of Squish. He loves to wave to everyone which can be pretty comical in the grocery store.
Being back at work isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I do enjoy my job and I only work 3 days a week (12-hour shifts). Lukas loves his dayhome and him and DH get that one-on-one time on the evenings I'm at work. Then I get to be home the rest of the week so it's pretty much the best of both worlds for us.
Glad to hear that everyone is doing well. Oh, and yes, Cindy is slim! I would never know she was pregnant if she hadn't told me! I hope I look that great the next time around (which will hopefully be sooner than later, the baby fever is getting hard to take!*LOL*)

Jenn, what complex are you guys going to? Cindy ("Jason & Cindy") and I had the kids in lessons at the the Lyle Hallman pool last year. Like others have mentioned, we changed in the rooms there and put our stuff in the lockers. The lockers cost 50 cents but don't close it until you are sure you are done and have put everything you need in it. Once you close the locker, your money is eaten and if you open it, you need to pay again to lock it again. We would take our towels on the pool deck with us and brought flip-flops to wear.
Have fun!! Let us know how it goes!

We have the True Fit and while I can't compare it to the Evenflo, we really like it. It was easy to install RF, I got a rock solid installation on the first try. We have it in our CRV so we probably have more legroom then a civic but we used to have our Radian in the CRV and the True Fit takes up less space. DS seems comfy in it and I don't find the straps difficult at all. We ended up moving our Radian into our other car but truthfully I actually kinda like the True Fit better.

As for work, I like what a PP said (sorry, I can't remember who) about getting a contract written up for the new schedule....2 months FT and then PT. Does your DH keep his ownership in the car? I ask because I was told by a police officer this week that I should never keep mine in the car.
I had to go to the reporting centre this week (someone hit our car in a parking lot pretty bad and took off). When the officer asked me for the ownership I had to run out to get it from my glovebox. When I came back she told me I shouldn't keep it there. Apparently the info on your ownership along with your signature is enough for people to use to get credit cards in your name (!?!). She told me that that is the main reason why cars are broken into. I keep mine in the car since DH and I switch up who's driving what all the time. The officer advised me to make a photocopy of the back and front of the ownership (minus the signature) to keep in the car instead.
Check and make sure that stuff wasn't taken!

We've been fairly sleepless at our house this week too! I'm pretty sure DS's top two teeth are coming in. Last night was better but Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night we were up almost every 2 hours and with some of those wakings, he didn't want to go back to sleep right away! Quote:
Glad you had a better night but I just wanted to pop in here and say that I think you have a fantastic attitude towards parenthood!
The fact that you know there's going to be trying days and that you're allowing yourself to be tired/frusterated etc. but also realize it's par for the course is wonderful!
In my opinion, that's exactly the type of parent that will take having four children in stride!
Awww, thanks! I felt a little teary reading that. That's so nice of you to say!
MIL did end up calling again this morning and I said come on over. She showed up and only had DH's little 4 year old cousin with her.
She gave me a huge apology for yesterday. She apologized for what she said and for even asking to come over in the first place. Apparently the house guests have been a bit frustrating to have and they were the one's insisting on wanting to come over. Unfortunately, MIL was the messenger and was equally as frustrated and tired as I was. She said she should have never called in the first place. She was also mad that now that it was a better time for me, it didn't work for DH's aunt and her BF so they just didn't come. So MIL brought the little girl who wanted to see my cat (and so she could apologize to me in person!).
I feel a bit guilty now that I was so mad about yesterday. I really appreciate that MIL understood and apologized. Now that I have the scoop about what's been going on at her place, I understand a little better what she's been going through too this week with the guests and know that she's been feeling really frustrated.
Oh the drama! I'm glad we cleared the air. Like I mentioned before, I really do like my MIL and we have a great relationship. Maybe that's why I was so hurt yesterday. The # of children comment stung a bit more since it came from her. Her guests are here till Saturday and then her and I are going for a fancy coffee together to unwind!

Thanks everyone!!

I'm happy to report that last night was way better than our last few nights so I no longer feel like some crazy lady on the verge! *LOL* I am still a bit miffed at the comment that MIL made but what can I do. It's good (or bad) to know I'm not alone in the comments that we get.
I think I was also peeved yeterday at the fact that regardless of how my day had been, it would have been a bad timne for company anyway. MIL only called at 4:30 so they probaly wouldn't have arrived at my house until 5. So was I supposed to get dinner ready and feed DS while entertaining them all? Even though MIL said they only wanted to "pop by for an hour", really, how often does that actually happen. They probably would have been here for a couple hours at least so was I supposed to bathe, nurse and put DS to bed while they were here too? Not likely since they would probably have been passing him around! The # of kids comment was just the icing on the cake!

Oh well, I'm in a much better mood today and the sun is shining which makes it even better! Bring on the company!!

OMG!! I had this entire vent/post typed out and got a &%$#@&* SQL error!! Can you say MAD!!!

Here we go again:
I apologize in advance for this being long but I really just need to vent!!
Okay, a little background: when DH and I talk about our family we have talked about maybe having 4 children. Of course we don't know what life will hold for us but we would like a big family if we are lucky enough to be able to (both physically and financially).
Of course, whenever this comes up with our families, we're always told we're crazy. It seems to be me in particular that the comments are focused at since I would be the crazy one squeezing out all these children and being home with them the most. I get that people like to joke and most of the time it really doesn't bother me.
The last 3 days have been really trying with DS. He's teething and just being a big grouch. Sleeping and napping have been minimal at best for both of us and the crappy weather certainly doesn't help the mood. Last night was the worst so far so I'm working on about 3 hours sleep here. DH has been working over-time due to other people in the department being on holidays so he can't be home to help as much as he normally would. Does it suck? You bet! Am I feeling sorry for myself? A little, but we just keep on trucking....this too shall pass right!? It's all part of mommyhood.
Today has been a particularly trying day. I did manage a shower but I basically just put my PJ's back on and tied my hair up. The house is in a bit of a state since I've been with DS all day since the minute I put him down or leave him for a moment, he cries.
DH has some relatives from out of town visiting and they are staying with his parents. 4:30pm rolls around and MIL calls asking if they can all come by for an hour to visit. Ummm, no! I really don't want to entertain a bunch of people (including DH's fabulously gorgeous aunt who used to be a model. She's really nice but I'm in my sweatpants here! My ego couldn't take it today!). Normally I would have said yes and rushed around frantically surface cleaning and fixing myself up but today I was just too exhausted. I politely said this wasn't a good time and filled MIL in on how the last few days have been. She kinda pushes a bit saying that DH's cousin (who's 4) really want to see the baby and the cat and blah, blah, blah! I proudly stuck to my guns and suggested we plan a visit for tomorrow when I'm better prpared to entertain company.
Then MIL takes the opportunity to tell me that perhaps I should rethink 4 children. Obviously I'm already having a hard time with 1 so 4 would be that much worse, don't ya know! She actually said that I may
think I can handle 4 kids but it's harder than I think!! Normally I love my MIL and I always felt lucky that I have such a nice one but today I'm a tad bit peeved to say the least! Maybe I took what she said a little bit worse than I normally would since I'm so bleepin' tired but I still think it was uncalled for.
I know that having children is a tough job! I get that!! And yes, having a hard day with multiple children would be more trying then with just one but that's all part of it. Just because I don't want freakin company doesn't mean I can't handle it!! GRRRRRR!
So if you've made it this far, I commend you and thank you for reading! I feel a bit better now that's I've taken out my frustration on my poor keyboard! *LOL*

Miss Blondie, thank you for posting about the battery safety. I'll have to look and see what kind of information I can find about that. Do you know why they are dangerous?
Keep the info coming girls. This is why I like getting personal accounts. You know the salespeople only have good things to say about their cars so I love the real life perspective!
