Venue - Le Belvedere outside of Wakefield. Absolutely stunning, and the hippy inside me loved that the building is fully energy passive. Jessica and her staff (experienced Chateau Laurier wait staff) were great.
http://www.le-belvedere.caPhotos - WB's favorite, Kevin Daly. Kevin did exactly the type of photography we wanted, and put in extra effort. The pictures turned out great. He's a great guy too!
http://www.kevindalyphotography.caHair Republic - Groom had a hair cut a few weeks before, and didn't want to have a fresh cut for photos. A week before the wedding he went to Hair Republic to have it tidied up/leveled out. The cost was ridiculous, and the salon didn't seem to understand what a "tidy up" consisted of, which even the average barber can get. Won't go back there.
Cake - Artistic Cake Design - The cake tasted and looked great, but they recommended a slab to serve to our guests as well as the tiered cake. We were left eating cake for dessert for an entire week.
Rings - Minter & Richter Designs custom (Boston,MA) for the grooms band (
http://www.minterandrichterdesigns.com/), and Ian Henderson custom designed rings for the bride (Windsor, ON) (
http://www.thegoldshop.ca/). Both were fantastic to deal with, and we loved the end result.
Flowers - Silks bouquets and boutonnieres from Morgan Hill (
http://morgannhilldesigns.blogspot.ca/). Real enough that the FOG didn't want his boutonniere to wilt in the sun, and that people wanted to sniff the bouquet, silk enough that we didn't have to worry about wilting or picking up the flowers on the morning of. Centrepieces from Loblaws floral.
DJ - Scott with First Choice Entertainment. He did a great job keeping the requests flowing and the people on the dance floor.
Tuxes - Moores. Only 2 real choices when it comes to out of town groomsmen. FOGs tux was 2 sizes too large in the jacket, so they had to fedex in a replacement. Grooms tux was 2 inches too long in the pants and 1 inch too long in the sleeves, which was quickly resolved by their onsite tailor.

You get married according to the Quebec Marriage Act, not the Ontario act. In the Quebec Act, you actually have to read out loud a part in the ceremony about retaining your maiden name. Once you return to Ontario, you could probably take his name, but it is not a part of the wedding paperwork.

Wakefield is about a 5 minute drive, it isn't far at all.
We did photos with family on the rocks & in the trees near the venue, then did bridal party photos on the covered bridge down in Wakefield, and then did a couple of bride & groom shots in the forest on the way back up to the venue.

ElleBakes - We stayed in the Mill, my entire family (15+ including children) stayed at La Grange B&B, her entire family stayed at the Alpin Gruss motel, and we had a bus run (First Student Canada) back to our wedding hotel (Cartier Place) at 1am.
Everything was awesome, and I can't say enough how beautiful it is up there. Jessica was amazing on the day of, although communication wasn't always prompt over the last year (she has been busy with building the venue though!)

MommyG, you could do the C25k twice over before October!
For those having side-stitches, you may want to slow to a walk, lean forward and to the right, and poke your fingers under your rib cage where you feel the stitch. It is a ligament that is getting pulled by your liver bouncing around.
Remember: You ran more than those of us sitting on the couch (me included, I coach my group W1D1 tomorrow night, using a slightly different plan). You also ran more than you did last week.
It takes 2 weeks for the body to adapt, so you may find it hard - but it is doable!

Probably. It is a good event, and it DOES raise awareness and remind people about the need to conserve, and reduce our carbon footprint.
Areas that use hydroelectric for electricity can anticipate a 2% drop in electricity use for that period tonight, and they can reduce production by that much (coal/nuclear/natural gas are harder to adjust to variable demand). BC Hydro has stated that they saved 117 megawatt hours of electricity last year during earth hour.
It is a symbolic act that recognizes our need to act on climate change.

Venue: Looked through many, but settled on Le Belvedere in Wakefield. Was set on BYC, but they were booked up for Saturdays, and Friday didn't seem workable, and then they kept raising the price and didn't honour their first quote.
Photographer: Kevin Daly - great work at a great price, thanks for the recommendation WB.
Entertainment: Quality Entertainment - great reviews here on WB, and they don't nickel and dime you. Considered First Choice, but they were more expensive.
Cake: artistic cake design - based on a recommendation from family

If we get married in QC, and get the QC license, do we have to somehow transfer that over to an Ontario license? Someone suggested I would, and that it would take an additional 3 months? Our officiant should be able to do a QC wedding (he is coming from BC), not sure about doing an ON one yet, and we'd rather keep it simple, and I'd rather not do a legal ceremony on a different day.

BYC was a top choice for us to have our wedding, however once we talked to them, we weren't happy. Since it is a private club they don't want people wandering around between the ceremony and the reception (while photos are happening), and every time we talked with them they raised the price.

1) Don't worry about the civil suit.
2) Don't worry about the smoke anymore than you would cigarette smoke. AKA, don't waste police resources unless you think they are dealing.
3) Check to see if heating pipes are connected. Why should they pay to heat the neighbours unit?
4) Put a dryer sheet over the vents. It'll help with any smell.
