I'll join the great Good-Bye, although, like everyone else I migrated months ago.
Thanks for all the help. My entire wedding was a contribution by WB, I cannot even imagine what it would have been like without it. I found my photographer here (back when they had their own section to advertise), my venue was a recommendation from a poster and nearly every craft came from an idea gleaned on WB. For the two years we were waiting to TTC there was so much knowledge and support here, and the long months it took to conceive DD the wealth of support was priceless! I will miss this site, Buzzle is close, but it's not quite the same!

Although you can get PG before you get your first post-partum AF (the ovulation that will lead to the first AF), the return of it means that you are ovulating again. If you still haven't gotten AF, then you are still not regularly ovulating, and hence TTC with be fruitless. That being said, it's unusual to not have AF when you are only BF three times a day. You cycle usually returns when BF has 6-8 hour stretches (typically when baby starts sleeping longer stretches), allowing your hormones to fluctuate again. If you really want to know when you ovulate and when to test, I would recommend charting or at least reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility to give you an idea what signs to look for that would indicate if/when you are ovulating and you could limit you testing to 2 weeks after those times.

link It doesn't matter if you are leaving one job or multiple jobs. You have to qualify (have worked a total of 600 hours in the last 52 weeks before you claim maternity benefits, it doesn't matter how many employers you have)
The amount you will get paid is based on (in your case) your combined average weekly earnings. Which is 55% of your wage to a maximum insurable earnings of $45900. Which means if you make $46K or a more a year you will receive $485 per week (minus income tax).

There are lots, however the big ones are:
Sleepeasy: CIO with check-ins at 5, 10, 15 minutes intervals (then every 15 mins thereafter). This system is supposed to be no touch, you just go into the room and say "It's bedtime sweetie, Mommy loves you" kinda thing. It's what we did, however, I would go in and put her soother back in and rub her head, because I wasn't comfortable with no touch at 4 months of age. At 7 months, I think she might just get pissed off at checkins. Nearly everyone I know has had success with this one, with the exception of the kids that just get more inflamed with the checkins.
The Baby Whisperer: Also checkins, although if I remember correctly this method wants you to pat them, and if I'm not mistaken be in the same room with them. I've heard of some people getting good response and others not, it seems to really depend on the personality of the child.
No Cry sleep solution - This one I'm not so familiar with, maybe someone else can explain it better. All I know is a couple mom's in my mommy group tried it at the 3.5-4 month sleep regression where they start to not want to be rocked and cuddled to sleep, and they were all talking about holding a screaming for an hour or more. I don't recall it working for any of the mothers that tried it.
Healthy sleep habits, happy child. I can't recall a lot about this one either, but I know a few mom's on buzzle tried it to some success.
Note: Bedtime is WAY, WAY easier to do than naps. I would suggest starting with them. If you are also on the other chat room, I believe I posted a response there too. I would definitely recommend reading Sleepeasy, like I said it can be modified. The key is to be consistent with how you respond. Good Luck!

They want to to wait for at least 4 weeks before you introduce a bottle to avoid nipple confusion and so that it doesn't affect your supply. We've done one bottle a day since that time, but I have to be very vigilant about pumping that feed and one other time a day (usually after the morning feed) in order for my supply to not decrease - and at 7 months I'm beginning to have challenges pumping enough in those two session to accommodate how much she drinks. The guidelines on the milk freezer bags say in the fridge freezer (freezer is separate) 3-4 months, in a deep freeze, 6 months or more.

We also introduced a soother, DD wanted the breast of our little fingers, both of which were raw within the first 4 weeks. It took quite a bit of crying by we introduced a soother. She still uses it, but now it's because when it falls out she wants her thumb and now it's HER finger that's all chapped!

I would say he just wants to sleep in with you! If you want him back in his crib I would suggest taking 3 days when you don't have to go to work (hoping that you can have 3 days off together) and always put him in his crib, either CIO or do checkins at regular intervals (10 or 15 minutes). At 8 months CIO will probably work better, honestly. Make the commitment that you won't take him to bed. Right now he knows if he holds out long enough he'll get what he wants. They say the first 3 days are the worst, usually it'll be done in a week, with the occasional regression - you just have to stick to your guns!

We did sleepeasy at around 3.5 months (CIO with checkins) and it got dramatically better within 2 days. Right now at 7 months we are dropping white noise and it's been a bit more of a challenge. I think with what I know now, if I was sleep training at this age (6-7 months) I wouldn't do the check-ins with DD - just her personality, she would get more frustrated. The PP is right on the money, you have to be consistent, if you are going to do it, set a start date and a limit (say a week) so that when you feel like you are getting no where at day three (which is frequently the turning point) you don't give up. I would do naps at the same time so that they are always getting the same response from you, but if she isn't asleep after 60 minutes get her up and try again in an hour. I wish you the best of luck!

So I've been reading some posts lately where women have responded saying "I know it's unusual, but I didn't have an problems with breastfeeding, but I know so and so who also had your problem..."
It got me wondering, how many women DON'T have problems? I know in the world outside of BB that marketing says "Breastfeeding is Natural!" "Breastfeeding shouldn't be painful if you are doing it right!" ect. and I know from many of the users here that there are lots of common stumbling blocks, and it's frequently really HARD! And it's tough the first few weeks when you don't want to nurse every 3 hours and baby takes FOREVER to feed. So I have a little poll, what was your experience like?
Aside from the first 3 weeks of hell, ours went really well. I had more than enough milk, she latched like a pro, I've never got mastitis or thrush (knock on wood!), and it never was painful aside from the typical sore nipples in the beginning and during her first two growth spurts.

I'm glad that EP has worked out so well for you! I BF and give one bottle of pumped milk once a day (or DH if he's home). Some days the pump irritates me (I pump twice a day) just because BF is SO much faster (since DD was 3 month she only takes 10-15 minutes to BF) and I don't have to clean or sterilize anything. I just wanted to add, that if you are running out of freezer space, I would pump less - it's a supply and demand process - as she starts to drink more, then you pump a little more. Usually it takes 2-3 days for you milk to adjust.

It can affect fertility, it's possible that you aren't building enough lining, so there isn't sufficient lining for implantation to occur. I used to be in the same boat, now post-partum I have a 7 day extravaganza! I would recommend reading "The Infertility Cure" it gives a lot of ideas for identifying and remedying problems like that through natural methods.

Welcome!
My first recommendation, especially if you have the time, would be to purchase and read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Although it's *fairly* easy to avoid conceiving in certain months so that you are not wildy pregnant at a certain time of year, planning to BE pregnant at others may be a bit more of a challenge. Also, it will give you some perspective about when to stop birth control if you are currently on it and it will make you feel like you are doing something while you wait. If you'd like to get out another board as well try buzzle.ca it gets more activity, and the tcoyf.com website also has a chatroom.

Mine was consistently 10 or 11 days. TCOYF claims that it should always be within 1 or 2 days. Trying to detect O by EWCM is rather hard, also you don't stop counting the days until you get a "proper" flow. For example, I typically spotted for 1 or 2 days before I got heavy flow, enough to put in a tampon, but the real deal took awhile to start. I would also recommend temping for a few cycles, it takes a lot of the guesswork out.

It depends on the product he's giving you, however, by definition if you are getting recurrent BV your natural Ph may be too high. To my knowledge none of the products prescribed should hinder TTC (they don't have any spermicidal properties), however I would recommend being diligent with the regular non-drug measures (loose fitting clothes, cotton underwear, avoiding hot tubs and hot bathes, reducing/eliminating intake of simple sugars and refined starches, taking a probiotic regularly)

My right didn't produce as much as my left for probably about the first 6 weeks before to evened out. Even now, the left will get more engorged than the right. I did the same as the previous poster offered the right first for a while. HOnestly I don't think it did anything. I do offer both breasts at every feed though, and I think that might have helped.

My DD was just under 3 months the first time we flew, I agree with the PP - fly. It really wasn't difficult and she slept most of the flight, way more than she did when we flew with her at 5 months. To be honest though, I wouldn't have flown with her at a month (or driven that far), I was just getting comfortable with taking her out of the house for short outings at that point, let alone the ordeal of traveling, not to mention staying somewhere that wasn't home for any length of time.

I can't really speak for having an OB, I did see one very briefly during my pregnancy due to a complication, and I found it rather irritating. Her office was very busy, so there was a long wait, I had to be weighed and do a urine dip at every visit, and I think I saw her for 10 mins at the most on each visit. My midwife on the other hand was great! It was all about personal choice and only doing the things that were really necessary. She had a scale, I stepped on it once or twice, unless I was having a problem with the pregnancy (loss of appetite, long-term M/S, swelling) she wasn't going to make me step on it. We had long appointments (45 mins I think) in which we discussed how I was feeling, how we felt about blood work, how my diet was, how I was managing being PG (constipation, tiredness ect) what interventions I wanted in l&D and why. I felt very in control of my pregnancy, labour and delivery. My L&D were fantastic, we had decided to give birth at the hospital and she was with me for the entire time except maybe a half an hour at the beginning. I had wanted to try it drug free (I have nothing against those who don't and I wasn't very committed to it) and she and my doula were very encouraging. I truly don't think I would have succeeded if I had been left to labour on my own with only my husband for support. It was very reassuring to have someone there that I had developed a solid relationship with that knew how I felt about L&D. After we were discharged, she came to my house on day 3 to assess my daughter and weigh her, and would have returned at the one week mark but I wanted on excuse to make an outing. I had a couple more appointments with her before our last at the six week mark. We had decided to use a midwife mostly because they are very empowering. I wanted to be very involved in my care.

The difference between the single user and the hospital ones is how the pump is made. The hospital ones don't allow air inside the pump is it is impossible to contaminate the pump. Each user buys their own tubing and breastshield/bottle parts.
The single user ones the air goes through the interior of the pump, so it's possible that breastmilk can inadvertently be sucked into the tubing and make it's way into the pump, where it can't be sterilized.
That being said, I would totally by a used pump. I have had a mishap happen where milk ended up in the tubing, but it didn't go very far (it interrupts the suction of the pump). I would replace the tubing (it's hard to sterilize appropriately), and sterilize all parts that come into contact with milk.

I wouldn't actually be all that concerned myself. There can be fairly large differences in scales. Also, it depends on how much she weighed when she was born and where she falls on the charts. Lots of babies grow in starts and stops, the important parts is that she looks happy and healthy and that she's still gaining weight. Is she not eating well or is very fussy or lethargic that would give you concern that she wasn't growing?

Does he sleep at all in the bouncey chair or the bassinet? At that age DD cat napped through the whole day. She didn't start taking actual naps until she was about 2.5 or 3 months old and even then it was slow to develop over about 2 weeks. She just started to sleep by longer stretches and by 3.5 months she had 3 distinct naps and slept through the night. You may find that after her hits 11 lbs it might be easier. I read somewhere that at that point they can go longer without feeding, so I would expect you'll see longer sleep times. I worked out that way for me

RX prenatals have more folic acid in them (1.1mg vs 1mg) that puts them into Rx status. The sales pitch of the rep for Pregvit is that the calcium and the iron are given at different times (Ca in the am and Iron in the pm) and are therefore better absorbed. Also they are less likely to irritate the stomach if you have morning sickness since the iron is given in the evening. I'm a pharmacist, and DH's plan would've covered it, but I could never be bothered to get a Rx. I used Kirkland brand prenatals from Costco, I don't think it makes a difference unless you have bad MS and can't stomach your prenatal. I would've tried another OTC brand before I bought the expensive Rx one.

I would really recommend reading Sleepeasy. Right around 4 months DD decided she didn't want to be rocked and cuddled to sleep anymore (except I didn't figure this out until AFTER!) After a few days of rocking in the glider with her screaming her little head off for an hour or more I read the book. DD had a bad diaper rash starting at about 10 days old. What ended up curing it was Canestan (clotrimazole cream) 3 times a day, and Desitin (40% zinc oxide) with every change, and when it looked like it was under control (it took about a week) we switched to Bum Bum balm which healed it right up. We also did a lot of diaper free time, about 10 minutes at about half the diaper changes during the day. The Desitin is super drying, which helps in the beginning but it seemed to be too strong to let the skin finish healing. The Bum Bum Balm is great! It can get it at
www.well.ca we haven't had a recurrence since, it I notice any little red dots I will still use the canestan cream, and we still apply the canestan after her bath - which is every other day.

Hmmm...DD has only nursed 5 times a day since she was about 2 months old, one day she just got really efficient and went from 45 minute feeds to 20 min. I would say maybe make a trial of waiting 3 to 4 hours between feeds for a day and seeing if she has a more devoted feed. DD will get distracted now if someone if talking in the same room, but in a quiet room she will take one breast for a solid 10 minutes, then the other for 10-20 but at a much slower pace.

You're probably not actually emptying the second side. In the beginning I couldn't tell either, now, when it's time for the next feed 3 hours later, the side that was given last is fuller than the other because there was milk left in it. Also, if I pump after the feed, the first side will give maybe an oz. and the second will with 2 or 3.

So I need you ladies to calm me down. Tell me about your first AF? I was kinda surprised to see her yesterday since I EBF DD, and was under the impression that I shouldn't see her until I introduce solids. Also, I got heavy spotting, put in a tampon that got *alright* usage and then this morning the one I took out was nearly as clean as it went it last night. Now I've never had a heavy AF, but this is looking a lot like what happened when I got PG with DD. My implantation bleeding was heavier than the *slight pinking* that other people get, and I'm beginning to panic. We've been using protection, but only at the *end*. I know the likelihood is very small, but this would be very, very bad, and there's no point in testing for a few more days and well, I'm panicking. So please tell me this is normal for the first AF!

So with CIO, you just decide starting on whatever day, that from then on, once you put them down you don't go in until you've deemed it time for them to get up? Do you still cuddle/rock, white noise before the go down, or just huck them in the crib and walk away? Until last week, we would cuddle/rock for a few minutes until she was drowsy, then I'd put her in the crib with 30mins of white noise and she was usually asleep before I made it to the door and stayed down for an hour or more (for naps) or all night. NOw if she doesn't fuss and while through all the comforting she rarely sleeps for more than an hour for naps and only sleeps 6 hours at night.
