I need Toopy and Binoo help! I'm trying to find a specific episode - I looked it up online and found out it's called "The Giant Footprints". The description of the episode is:
The Giant Footprints - When their muddy footprints come to life Toopy and Binoo chase a sneaky creature called a Geraffikiki around the room and up onto the ceiling.
I'm trying to find it on a DVD but so far no luck. Anyone have a Toopy and Binoo DVD with this episode on it? If so, what's the video called? Thanks!!

Really, we would like something in between the resorts you go to for Spring Break while in College and Secrets (since you said it was classier). No dressing up for dinner but no drunken college kids puking at the table next to you either!

WoodsyGal4, I thought that Secrets were more for....um...open relationships? I'm not sure how to word it but like the resorts that have people having sex out in the open. Is that not true? I didn't even look at them because of that.
ayz75 & Katosmama - I'll look up the Palladium. We almost got married at the Palladium in the Mayan! Have either of you been to the Mayan before? Just wondering the differences between there and Punta Cana.
Happygal - we've stayed at the RIU's in Cancun and the Bahia in the Mayan.

I always thought I wanted 2 but I just recently came to the decision that we're definitely done at 1. DS is 2 and a half.
DH has been on the 'one only' side for a while but I resisted. Another poster asked the other day thought about would you go back and do it over and I thought no, I don't want to go back and do it over. I LOVE DS to death, I'm just done with that phase. I remember when we first started talking about getting PG and when we were trying, I would see babies/pregnant women and wish it was me. Now I see them and I'm glad it's not me. Also, in our mommy group on here, a LOT of the mom's are pregnant/just had their 2nd. When they talk about their new little ones, I'm interested in hearing about their lifes but not once do I imagine what it would be like for us. It's just not what I want.

Honestly, I would have died and gone to heaven if I could buy a dream home for 2X our gross salary!
Me and DH both make good money and our starter home (a tiny 35 year old townhome) is just over 3 times our combined gross income. I guess it depends on where you live. Here you couldn't get a single family home for anything less then half a million. I actually just looked and the cheapest home you can get here is 538K and it's located on a very busy road.
So yep, I would do it without hesitation.

DH and I are looking for an AI and I'm lost! We got married in the Mayan Riviera and have been there/Cancun a couple times. We're wondering if we should just go back to the Mayan or try somewhere new? DR/Cuba/Cabos?? We've only been to the mayan/Cancun so aren't sure about the pros/cons of other areas.
Here's what we're looking for:
-Somewhere hot!
-Preferably a larger resort with multiple buffets
-We like to lay on the beach but rarely go in the water
-Nothing too expensive
-We won't be taking DS with us (yay for grandparents)! While we don't care if it's adults only or not, somewhere that doesn't specifically cater to families so that we're not overtaken with kids.
Any recommendations on where to go??

Does that mean if we want to change the remaining amortization to a shorter time frame, that would be considered a refinance instead of renewal? Or is it only a refinance if we change it to a longer amortization?
I guess staying on a 35 year mortgage is fine as long as we can make extra payments? If we make an extra payment, does that go directly to the principal of the mortgage?

What do you and DH do once your LO's go to bed?? Before our son was born we were always going out, having people over or out walking the dogs but now we're "stuck" at home (since DS is in bed) and all our friends are in similar situations.
Lately, we've fallen into the habit of both of us on laptops - me reading blogs and him reading sports. We get a sitter occasionally but on the other nights, we're looking for things to do together at home. Any ideas?

Thanks tweet, I didn't know there was a difference! If it matters, we're hoping to change who our mortgage is with as I think we can get a better rate with somone else (we're with First National now).
And thanks for telling me not to worry - with all the stuff that went on in the states with people losing their homes, I didn't know if we were in trouble or not.

% of home value financing for mortage re-finance

Our 5 year mortgage is coming to an end. Due to some HORRIBLE advice we were given when we bought (this is our first home), we have one of those 40 year mortgages that now everyone cringes at (but at the time, were being sold as the greatest thing since sliced bread). Our mortgage now is at 5.79%.
We paid 5% down when we bought (so financed 95% plus CMHC fees) and when our mortgage is up, we'll need to refinance - ready for this one??? - 94.45% of the sale price of our home. It makes me sick.
Anyway, what's done is done. Now my question is, I was just looking on First National's site and they said they'll finance up to 95% for a purchase and 85% for a refinace. So does this mean we're totally screwed when we need to refinance? Are the low rate mortgages currently being advertised not even an option for us?
I should say, due to the housing marking crash, our home is now worth a lot less then when we bought. So we're going to need to finance likely 110% of the current value. The amount we would need to pay to get our refinance amount down to 85% isn't an option for us. DS just went back to school so we had to take on some debt to cover that.
Also, for what it's worth, we've never missed a mortgage payment and have no problem making our mortgage payment. So I'm not worried about us making the payments, I'm just wondering on what the banks will do.

We're in a similar situation - our mortgage is up February 2013. Our broker ran the numbers and while it was benefical for us to pay the penalty, the penalty was around 13K and we didn't have the cash to pay it out. So for now, we're riding it out and reading every article about mortgage rates in hopes there's no sign of them going up!

Nope, current k-cups aren't recyclable because of the plastic they use and the inner lining. It's sprayed/coated with something that makes it not recyclable. Plus, they're basically making the cups out of a crap-mix of plastic thus making them useless.
When companies say they're "recycling" them, what they're doing is sending them to a waste-to-energy incinerator. They're placed in the incinerator and then the energy they produce is captured. Since the cups are going to a waste-to-energy facility, then technically they're not going to the landfill so the company can say they're recycling them. Really though, the amount of energy it takes to incinerate them is MORE then the amount of energy they produce. So while it's a better option then throwing them in the garbage, it's not really recycling.
If you wanted to 'recycle' them, your best option would be to open the lid, use the grounds for composting, dry the k-cup (since wet material takes more energy to burn) and then incinerate it. I've worked in the recycling industry for years though and have yet to see a single company do that.
Also, just as an FYI, if you look at any plastic, on the bottom should be a symbol with three arrows forming a triangle and a number inside. Anything that does NOT have that symbol (like a K-Cup) isn't being recycled but incinerated/landfilled.

I can't see them getting rid of the old packs because so many people have them.
But...I think one of the big things might be that the VUE pods are recyclable. Even if you don't care about recycling, there's this new gov't thing (the ERP) coming that states producers have to be responsible for their product packaging. Long story short, since K-Cups can't be recycled (they tried and it didn't work), that means eventually you'll end up paying a lot more for them. The ERP is a couple years away before it comes into effect so I would say in a couple years, VUE is what most people will get.

We gave him his soother but he takes it normally so not a big deal for us (and I wasn't BF'ing at the time). We also brought a bottle just in case. On the way home he was sick so we gave him tylenol about an hour before we boarded and then halfway through.
We both slept when DS slept. When he was awake I don't think either of us would have been able to sleep - the seats are pretty cramped after a while so it was hard to sleep anyways. I would be sure to pack early so you're not up late the night before packing. That way you at least get a good night sleep before the flight, nothing would be worse then doing it when you're already tired and cranky!
Oh, and pack extra clothes for you and DS. Our son slept on me so I was a sticky sweaty mess and it felt amazing to put on a clean shirt. And while we didn't have any diaper blowouts, I accidentally got his diaper on his clothes while trying to change him (the plane hit some turbulance).
For your trip, I would definitely take medicine you're familiar with for him. We didn't have any and had to make a stop at some tiny pharamacy in Belgium. I had to act out DS's symptoms (he had a cold) since they didn't speak English and she gave us medicine that had ZERO English on the package.

We traveled to Europe with a toddler - we had a great time!!
Both our flight there and back were red eyes and he slept most of the time. We brought a portable DVD player and a ton of toys but what entertained him the most was the flight - just looking around at the different people and playing with the cups, etc that the flight attendants brough. I have to say, the flights went a million times better then I expected.
The time adjustment was a bit of a nightmare. DS (who was a great sleeper) was up multiple times a night. It meant LOTS of coffee for me and DH.
As for carseats, let's just say they're WAY more relaxed about them in Europe. They're a lot older and run down and didn't have all the bells and whistles that car seats here have. Plus, they only had infant seats and front facing (even though over here DS didn't reach the requirements to go FF). DS was too big for the infant so he went FF. He ended up loving it so no biggie.
If you (or CrazyCatLover) has any other questions, just let me know!

So, here is what I was originally thinking (the tile would go to the tape line) but now I'm thinking maybe it does look incomplete.
If I tile the side wall though, where do I stop? I'm okay going over to the doorframe and all the way to the floor, but since our cabinets don't go all the way to the ceiling, I can't do the tiles all the way up. Any ideas?
Originally I was thinking of using this tile:

If I stop it along the same line as the counter, then what do I put under it - from where I would stop the tile to the floor? Would I just paint it the same colour as the rest of the kitchen?
And do I tile up to the bottom of the hood fan? And (last question!) would I tile along the side wall right to the door frame or do I stop where the stove stops?
MrsMum, I like the picture but wonder about the mess - DH does the cooking and he's not the cleanest cook. In your picture the stove is in the middle so they don't have paint next to their stove.

We're finally getting around to our kitchen (yay!) but I need design help. Where we live house prices are crazy expensive so it means we have a tiny galley kitchen. The cabinets and countertops (which are laminate) are staying as both were put in right before we bought so it doesn't make financial sense to change them now when there's a list of other things we still want to do.
I'm planning on putting up a backsplash - on one side of the kitchen, it's clear where the tile should start and stop. But on the other side, I'm not sure. Here's a picture:
The hood fan will be replaced with something in either black or stainless since the white makes no sense. Also, I'm going to try to find doors to put on the open cabinet (it's intended for a microwave).
So where do I tile? The entire area behind the stove I'm guessing, but what about the side? Where do I stop? Should it run down to the floor or stop at counter height? And how far up the wall do I go?
And any suggestions on what colour tiles to use and wall colour to paint?

Ours does a whole lot of nothing.

I keep meaning to have a meeting with him but we've had a really busy year so haven't had a chance.
As part of my benefits package at work, they send a check to my financial advisor every 2 weeks. At the beginning he was really good - letting me know about the different funds to invest in, etc. He also helped us with the HBP when we bought our first house. BUT, for the last year or two, I don't think he's looked over where our funds are going in the least. They've been going to the same investments every time (it's being divided among 5 'groups') - which is fine because we need to sign a bunch of forms if we want to change where they're being invested - but where they're going has been losing money consistently month after month.
So while he was good in the beginning, now I feel like he's just taking his cut and not really caring about us.

AnnonyWife, I wasn't trying to imply that officers have harder or more stressful jobs then the next person. The point I was trying to get at was that with what they do for a job on a daily basis, is where they park really that big of an issue? If the officer was parking in a handicapped spot or something along those lines, I would fully agree with the OP. But the officer was just parking in A spot in the parking lot.
Again though, if it is a big deal to the OP, then by all means bring it up. I would bring it up with the officer who's parking there (or leave a nice note on his/her windshield) before writing a letter though. Maybe he didn't even realize there was an issue and will gladly park in a different spot in the future.

Are you still keeping all your baby stuff? We're pretty sure that DS will be an only child yet we still have all his baby stuff. Boxes upon boxes of clothes that don't fit anymore (I'll be the first to admit I bought WAY too many clothes) as well as big items like a jumperoo, baby swing, stroller with carry cot, etc. We sold the infant car seat (because I'm 100% positive we won't have another by the time it expires) but I'm stuck on the rest. We live in a townhouse so don't really have room to store all this stuff.
What did you do? Store it all incase you change your mind? Or purge it all?

I used to only wear Silver jeans - but then I found Lucky. Love, Love, Love Lucky jeans!!! If you live near a major center, there should be a lucky store. We live the Lower Mainland where there's currently a whooping cough outbreak. I didn't think much about it (since DS is up to date with vaccines) but just got an email from our DHP regarding it. Although no one has a case of it at our dayhome, she was forwarding the info sheet from Fraser Health.
Part of it said this:
Early symptoms are like those of a cold (sneezing, runny nose, a low fever and a mild cough). But over the next week or two, the cough gets worse leading to longer spells of coughing that often end with a whoop or crowing sound when the person breathes in.
DS (who's 2.5) was home Mon/Tues/Wed with a cold. He has a crazy runny nose, fever and sneezing. I don't remember him coughing that much but he's been up all night every night so lack of sleep is getting to me. I just messaged DH to see if he's noticed a cough.
How do I know if it IS just a cold or if it's the beginning of whooping cough? Do I just wait the week or two and see if he gets a cough? Should I take him to the doctor? Is the doctor even able to confirm for sure (like they do a blood test or something) or is it more that the doctor *thinks* it's whooping cough?

We're looking for new daycare for our son and all of a sudden there are edleun (education learning universe) centres opening up all over the place. Within the last year, there have been 5 open within a 15 minute drive from our house. Before this year, we had never even heard of them before. Since the curtains you have are a neutral colour, what about stenciling on them? On pinterest there's tons of people who have done it and some look amazing (granted, some also look pretty hideous). I'm planning on doing it with mine but am still looking for a stencil pattern that works with the 'lines' in my curtains.

DS is FF so we don't need a seat that goes RF. My thought though is that the ones that do go RF have all that extra padding on the side whereas the ones that only go FF seem to have less padding. The RF ones just seem safer because they 'wrap' the child more. Do we need that extra padding though? Am I just being paranoid because of the accident?

DH was away for 6 months - during that time we had a few texts/phone calls and saw each other twice for 2 nights each time. We also had a toddler, a puppy and one other dog. I could handle it because I knew there was an end. When he flew out, I knew exactly what day he would be coming home - I actually already had his flight info for 6 months down the road.
Did I miss him, sure. Did I survive, yep.

After a car accident - ??? about LO & carseats

DH and DS were in a car accident today.

They're both okay - DH said his neck hurts so I'm sure he'll be sore tomorrow. So far DS is clingy but seems okay (he was seen by a doctor).
The carseat we had in the car was a True Fit and the insurance adjustor DH saw today said we need to get a new carseat. They'll reimburse us the price we paid ($150) even if we buy a different brand.
So now I'm torn on whether to go out and buy another True Fit or if we should buy the Graco Naultius I've heard people mention. Although we might have another baby in the future, it definitely won't be for another couple years. So that's why I'm not sure if we should buy one that goes rear facing or not. Is there a benefit to the Nautilus over the True Fit? Sigh...right now I just want a big glass of wine and to not have to think.
Also, aside from being extra nice to DS, is there anything we should do? Do we talk to him about the crash (in case he's thinking about it) or do we not mention it (and hope he forgets).

We're moving DS from a DHP to a centre and I'm wondering if I'm being too picky. Don't worry, I can handle the truth so feel free to tell me I'm a crazy mom.

One of the centres near us emailed me back yesterday and I had to read her message three times before I understood what she was saying. The entire message was broken English even though I know English is her first - and only - language. Also little things like there was no punctuation and she didn't use any capital letters. I know, a small thing, but all I could think was this is the lady who would be teaching my son how to write.
Also, in the Vancouver area, all the daycare inspections are listed online. A lot of the centres that seem really good, have LONG lists of violations - it doesn't tell you the details of the violation, just the category, such as "Policies & Procedures: Service types or capacity exceeds Licence." There's a daycare near us that was just built - the building was built specifically as a daycare - and it seems amazing. But their violation list is huge. Also, under Incident & Abuse History, their description is "Moderate or low hazard facility with reportable incidents (with appropriate response) and unconfirmed abuse allegations" Umm...what? Unconfirmed abuse allegations?? I searched other daycares and a lot had this same description. So should I not worry about it?
Does anyone here run a licensed BC daycare? How much weight should I put on these inspection reports?
