how to start meal planning?
For us, we start with our schedule - nights we have stuff going on, we do something easy and quick, nights either of us have...
For us, we start with our schedule - nights we have stuff going on, we do something easy and quick, nights either of us have to work late influences who's cooking and thus what's for dinner, and weekends are generally more complex.
Then we look at the flier for our grocery store, and see what's on sale. We haven't been planning so much based on sales as we have in the past, but it can influence our decisions.
I try to have at least one new recipe every week.

I also had cancer about 10 years ago.

For us, the key was to talk for at least a few minutes every day.
I also tried to keep as busy as possible... visiting friends and family....
I also spent a ton of time on WB and watched a TON of tv...

We do! We sit down on Sunday (although the past few weeks it's been Saturday), and plan out our week. We discuss any busy nights...

We discuss any busy nights and plan accordingly. IE Monday nights, DH has this church thing he has to be at by 7. Since we get home at 6, those nights we try to plan something quick and easy, like Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup, Breakfast for dinner, English muffin pizzas, etc, or reheating leftovers from Sunday....
Also on week nights, we don't plan super time consuming meals unless we can do some of the prep work on the weekend or the night before. Basically, we try to have food done in under an hour.
We also try to experiment with one new recipe every week. That helps prevent having the same thing over and over and keeps things interesting. Sometimes they are awesome, and sometimes they are epic failures and usually they're somewhere in the middle.
We try to look through a flier before we meal plan, so if there are any good deals, we can incorporate them into our meal plan.
If I have to buy an ingredient for one meal, and I will have leftovers that won't keep, I try to incorporate it into a different recipe in the same week, so it won't go to waste.
Meal planning doesn't have to mean "fancy" meals. It literally is just a plan for what you're going to do. Don't feel like you have to cook gourmet meals every night (unless you want to and have the time).

Assuming we won or inherited enough money to never need to work again, we would - pay off what's remaining of our debt - buy...

- pay off what's remaining of our debt
- buy a beach house on our favorite beach in SC as our main base
- buy a cottage on the coast here in NS, and a ski lodge in VT
- we would set up trust funds for our nephews and DHs godson, and give some to our families
- travel, travel and more travel
- we'd probably get around to planning a vow renewal celebration so our extended family and friends could celebrate with us, since our wedding was just immed family
