And thank you, the loss has not been easy, we had been trying for a bit so it was hard to swallow. The good news is that the Dr. gave me the go ahead last week to keep trying!

Oh, forgot to mention: We go to see our pics on Monday night so I'll officially have something to share! In the meantime, here are some of the (unfortunately VERY low res) teasers that we got:

And this is what the photographer got when he asked Paul to get up on the green and help while he tested his lighting:

Sorry if they're ridiculously large, I'm not a photobucket pro yet.

LOL, don't worry, you'll still fit into your dress. I was almost 8 weeks pregnant on our wedding day, but unfortunately lost the baby two weeks ago.
DH is excited about this event too, so I think we'll be coming together and found a few friends who are interested as well! Looking forward to seeing you there!
Edit: Okay, so I officially bought tickets. I don't think enough of our friends will come to fill a table, I think only one other couple is in, everyone else can't make it. If anyone wants to join us, we're Jess and Paul Frangione, you can email the contact on their site to let them know if you have a seating request!

To the Ottawa ladies:
Would any of you be interested in getting a chance to wear your dress a second time? The Something White for Something Right event at the Chateau Laurier is coming up at the beginning of November and I think I'm going to buy a ticket. I think it'd be fun if some of you would like to go too! I think we'd have to buy tickets in one lot in order to get seated together, or maybe there's someone to contact about that. Tickets are $150, and I'm 99% sure that I'll go, even if it means going alone. The only friend I have that would be interested just delivered baby #2 this week so I don't think she'll be in.

It's official, I'm married!

We had a wonderful day, the weather was great, and the time flew by! As beautiful, and memorable the day was, I'm so glad that is has come and gone so that Paul and I can continue on as husband and wife. I've been waiting for this for 7 years! I had a great sleep the night before, wasn't nervous at all, and if I had my time back, I would have eaten more. Fresh fruit and veggies saved me yesterday, it was the only thing I wanted to eat.
Wishing all of you ladies with dates coming up the best of luck in your final week(s), looking forward to seeing some pics!

I am now hanging out at the hotel in preparation for the big day tomorrow! Just got out of the shower, and getting ready to hit the sack. I'm not a nervous-no-sleep kinda person, so I'm hoping to get a solid 8 hours in tonight to be well rested for tomorrow

We had our rehearsal tonight, and it went great, so now we're onto the real thing!
Good luck to the rest of you September 1st ladies, we're supposed to have a beautiful day tomorrow!

One week from today, I'll be hauling all of my get-ready-gear to the hotel, and prepping for our rehearsal. It blows my mind. I've had my final meeting with all vendors except the photographer, but I meet with him next week sometime.
I can't believe how fast the past couple of years have gone by. We've been engaged since Jan 1, 2012, making that a 1 year 9 month engagement, but having the 'extra time' in wedding planning really doesn't make much of a difference. It doesn't matter how far out you book your vendors, it all comes together at the same time, and the crunch time is still stressful.
I still have a few small projects to finish, and originally my goal was to complete them by the end of night tonight, but I'll be satisfied if it's done before this weekend is over. I want next week to clean up my house, hang out with family, and squeeze in a little pampering.
I hope you're all doing well, especially my couple of date twins floating about out there! Before you know it, we'll ALL be newlyweds! Where did this year GO!?

If he doesn't like his current one, do you think he might be more comfortable picking his own ring? I disagree with the previous post, mostly because I am not religious, and I don't feel that there's only "one ring".. if he isn't wearing his current one because it's not comfortable, it might be best if he's involved in picking a new one.
Are you in Ottawa? I can recommend a great jeweller who has gone above and beyond for me, I had extreme difficulty picking a band for my FH who wanted a surprise, but with specific instructions. This jeweller really helped me out, and I'm sure he'd be able to melt your husband's ring down and turn it into a ring that he'll love. This will obviously save you the cost of materials. PM me if you'd like more info!

Oh, yeah.. it's creeping up for sure. I'm dealing with decorator, and florist drama, as well as several other vendors who will not respond to my emails and phone calls. I SWEAR that I'm not a bridezilla, very much a go with the flow type.. maybe that has proven to be the wrong approach. Maybe if I was more firm in the beginning, I'd be seeing results.
It's two weeks from this Saturday, and I just need to make a couple more place cards, organize them by table, make the "pretty" seating chart, and finish making the photo booth props. All in all, my list has shrunk drastically over the past week, I had a go-mode surge.
Hope all is well with the rest of you ladies!

I emailed you back, I hope it helps! For everyone's reference, the planner suggests working backwards from times that are more concrete. Ie. Work backwards from ceremony time to allot prep times. She also suggested putting speeches in order by how long the speaker plans to talk. Pair short speeches with short courses like soup or salad, parents would do well over the main course, it gives them more time to speak, and if bride and groom go last, they can speak as little or as much as they want!
To all of the Ottawa brides out there, would you be interested in doing a meetup or something after the dust settles? Maybe go out for dinner? I could host a dinner at my place if anyone would be interested in that, too.

Alright, since I should be painting baseboards, and I reeeeeally don't want to.. It's time to catch up on this thread!! Bear with me here:
TnT - Oh, my date twin. I wonder if you're feeling what I'm feeling right now! Good on you for being so mellow about the colour of the bridesmaid dresses! Even though it's hard when you've have a vision for so long, sometimes just going with the flow just feels better, huh? I think that paying for their dresses is very generous, there are lot of inexpensive ways to give them a gift of thanks without it being incredibly expensive. It's been a while since this came up in the thread, but what about the personalized wire hangers to hang their dresses on? As for the inlaws and parents, I have no clue either.
We bought both of our mothers Pandora bracelets for mothers day, so I thought it might be nice to get them a couple of charms to remind them of the wedding. What do you guys think?
Oh, TnT, we hired a planner, and she just came over to bring us the first draft of the timeline. Would you want me to email it to you? She also shared how she comes up with them.
Lysh - Yeesh.. that's nerve wracking, having a groomsman almost back out this late! We're having a similar issue, but it might be a couple backing out, so we're going to lose one on each side. I kind of had a feeling it would happen though, it's not a shocker. Also,

at the second shower!! Did the people who were invited to the shower and not the wedding KNOW that they weren't invited to the wedding? Was it tough to have to go ahead and invite them afterwards?
And HOOORAH! for the dress fitting! Having stuff taken in is always good for an ego boost!
Meechie - Your son's bday party looked like a blast, what awesome costumes!! I LOVE his mushroom hat! Also, your choreographed dance looks awesome, so much fun! Your dress looks great on you, love that style. What do they have to do to it? It looks like it already fits pretty well!
Stress is totally building up, we're only 4 weeks away now, and it's a lot of small things to figure out now. BUT, on the bright side, like you, we're under our anticipated number of guests too! Although we knew we were sending invites to a lot of people that we knew wouldn't come for sure, we sent invites to 190 people, and are now down to 130, still waiting on 17 RSVPs (but we know that most of those are 100% yes).
Honey_Pie - Sounds like you got a lot of the wardrobe stuff taken care of in recent weeks! What colour are the bridesmaids dresses? You said brown and champagne vests for the men, right? I really like the stationery that you're putting together for the tables, looks great!
WoodsyGal4 - First of all, a) care to share what herbal supplements you're taking, and b) are they working well? I find I have a hard time falling asleep, once I do, I'm in a coma until about 4am, then I toss and turn until I have to get up at 6.
Second, you are seriously drop dead gorgeous, I'm sure you get that a lot! I really liked how your hair looked after the second trial. I was going to disagree with everyone else re:eyebrows from the makeup trial, but then I scrolled up and saw how nice your natural brows are, and agreed with everyone else! I'm all for a nice solid eyebrow, lol, but your natural ones have a really nice shape!
Third, holy wedding party drama, what is UP with September wedding parties!? There was a lot of bickering over my bachelorette, too, and they tried to keep me out of it, but I ended up having to put my foot down. I am SO not a partier, and some of them wanted to turn it into a really raunchy night, when all I wanted to do is go out for a nice dinner and hang with my best friends.
..and FOURTH, A++ with a FH who gets involved! Did he say he didn't want to do it and secretly loved it once he got into it? I got FH to help me with the shower thank you cards, and he did a great job.
Haven't seen much of Auntieli on here, if I remember correctly, she's the same date as me as well?? If you're out there, hope all is well! I read somewhere recently that one of the galleries in the Westboro/Wellington/Hintonburg area had some sort of restriction put on them because of repeated noise violations or something, I hope that doesn't affect you or your wedding. I could be wayyy off here, but I think I remember you talking about a venue like that??
As for me, I'm at 29 or 30 days away or something? I'm still freaking out. I need to get in touch with the people who made our invites to have the programs and menus made... I was holding out to find out what was going on with our wedding party! I still need to finish making the place cards and come up with something to put on the church pews, make our table numbers, and I had a piece of art that I wanted to make to display on the signing table, but now I don't know if I'll have time. FH was supposed to help me with that, and his part is the first step. I might need to bypass him and just do it myself. Perhaps this weekend, if I ever finish painting baseboards. It's funny how so many people offer to help paint because they "looooove to do it", but when you call them, they're ALL mysteriously busy at the same time.
I think I should be going for a second dress fitting soon, I'll try to get some pics to show you ladies!

Sorry ladies, I've been checking in to see how you all are doing with your planning, I enjoy reading your updates. I'm less than 6 weeks away now, and honestly freaking out. I feel like every day I go through another wedding meltdown.
Is anyone else getting insane anxiety? It comes up on me quick, and randomly.. all of a sudden Im losing it, can't breathe, and can't deal with it. Fortunately, I work with my sister and we share an office, so she's usually around to tell me to knock it off. It's like everyone else can see that I'm ready, and have everything taken care of except for me.
I hope that you're all doing well, we're in the home stretch now for sure!

Gahhh.. I had a freak out this afternoon!
My sister told me to check one of my bridesmaids Twitter feed, and she posted a pic of herself from an event she went to last night, in the dress she bought for the wedding!!
I asked the girls to pick their own dresses, the only specification was black and knee length, and something they'd wear again. I didn't think that my wedding would be the event they wore it to "again". Anyways, we talked it out, and she realizes now why I was a little grumpy about it. I kind of explained the feeling I got when I was a bridesmaid, and how I felt getting into the full getup they day of the wedding. It felt special to see it all come together for the first time with the hair, makeup, and with the other girls. I told her that I hoped that she still gets that feeling when she wears it again for the wedding, because she kind of had most of "that moment" last night.
On a lighter note, my invitations are out making their way around the world now. I feel much better about that now! Speaking of, I went this route for addressing them:
Mrs. and Mrs. John Doe
(and family, or and kid 1)
I googled until I thought my eyes would bleed, and then bit the bullet and did it.
Meechie - Congrats on selling the house! Must feel great to have that out of the way!

Lysh - Sorry to hear that you're having bridesmaid troubles, it must be frustrating. This is probably close to what everyone else said but it's probably hard for her too, with the distance. She probably wants to be here for everything, but probably feels a little disconnected from everything too, not being close enough to partake in the events. Also, I think a lot of bridesmaids take on weddings not realizing how much it costs to be in one. I was in my first wedding last year, and was very surprised at how much I put into it money-wise. I didn't feel like I got a lot of support from the rest of the wedding party, it was easier to do some things on my own instead of butting heads trying to collaborate with the other girls, so all in all, I think I calculated that I spent close to $2000 to be in my friend's wedding, with only $150 of that going to the dress and shoes. Maybe it's the cost of attire, flights, and accommodations all together? It sounds like you've gotten a lot done though, getting invites ready to send is a BIG job! Congrats on getting them in the mail, mine are going out this week!
Jules - No staging, that's just us! We're not selling the place, we just moved in. I think that once we're ready to move on to a bigger place, we'll just keep this house and rent it out. How was the Bath and Body Works sale!? Dying to know.. I've been trying to stay out of malls to curb my spending

Auntieli - Your pictures look awesome! Where was the shoot? We're still having a tough time deciding on music. We had a song that we talked about using as our first dance, it was a song that we really loved when we first started dating.. FH has his heart set on that, because we said we'd use that like.. 5 years ago. I feel that we've changed so much, and that song doesn't really do anything for me anymore, but we have such different tastes in music. I don't know what to do about that one...
Meechie - Looks like your surprise shower at work was a blast! That was really nice of them to throw that for you! Congrats on selling the house, too, I know you were stressing about it last week!
I finished assembling the invites yesterday, so now they're all in a bag ready to go to the post office. I can't WAIT to get those out of my house. I haven't been able to use my dining room table in two weeks! I had my shower on the Saturday before last too, and they did such a nice job. I mailed the thank you cards out yesterday. I don't know if I'll ever find space for everything in the kitchen, I look back and wish I had spread registry items throughout the house!! I keep reminding myself that we were replacing our old things, so what I really need to do is go through my kitchen and set aside the old stuff for a yard sale at the end of September or something.
Nothing exciting over here now, just emailing all of the vendors to touch base and make sure that they have everything they need from me. Meeting with the florist next week to talk centerpieces, and just emailed to book an appointment for alterations! I can't wait for the summer to be over and for the wedding to be here! The rest of my 'big work' has to wait until I get RSVPs back. I'm going to make the escort cards, table numbers, and a tag for favors. We're in the home stretch ladies!

honey_pie - We went with Freeman too, and no, we didn't get to see anything other than the swatch book, which is slightly better than just the catalogue booklet. We saw the swatch book at TipTop, does that help? I'm pretty sure I actually saw a fabric swatch... It feels like forever ago.
AFM - I just had my shower on Saturday. It was perfect. It was so nice to see everyone, and my kitchen is now FULL. I can't imagine how we'll fit even more in the kitchen, as i know that there are some items that have been purchased off of the registry that we still haven't received. I'm almost done with the thank you cards, and then I have to get right back to invitations. My goal is to send them out early next week. I feel rushed, but I know that I have time.. we sent out Save the Dates, so I don't think it's as urgent to get them out. 2.5 months in advance is plenty, no? 2 months is the norm I think.

twosams - Did you end up finding any place for invitations? I could be mistaken, but I think Michael's has a sale on all of their wedding stuff... it might even be 50% off right now! Even if it's not, you can download a 50% off coupon from their site right now.
DayDreamer - Were you able to sort your invitation stuff out?
honey_pie - I can't believe that you've already addressed your invites! You're on the ball! My goal is to have that done in about 2 weeks. Also in the same boat RE: Songs. I'm not Catholic, so I was pretty surprised at how strict they are when it comes to music choices, kind of disappointing. I had my heart set on one song, but I don't think they'll approve it. The lyrics should be fine, but it's definitely more of a rock song.
Meechie - Uhh.. 50k bike ride!? I don't know how you do it! Sounds like your meeting with the Cupcake Fairy went well? Those flavours sound soooo yummy. I LOVE anything lemon.
TnT - Your invitations look amazing! Love the colors

Lysh - Glad you got everything sorted out for the tuxes. I think your approach was the right one! FH gets the fit that he wants, and you get the colors you want! We did the same thing. The guys are wearing grey tuxes with apple green ties and pocket squares. Also, very nice choice with the favors! What charities did you choose?
AFM: I picked up the invitations on Monday (did I mention that already?), and I'm SO ready to finish them off and stick them in the mail. I bought some ribbon last night to tie around them, but I also need to dream up something to spruce up the outside of the pocketfold. It looks like it's missing something.
I'm almost done buying the vases for centerpieces, so I want to get in touch with the florist to see if they can put together a sample for me. I have a vision, but want to see what they think too.
Got a call from the decorator this week saying that she spoke with our venue and wants to make our wedding a featured wedding for her website, and will upgrade our linens for free. When she started talking about all of the changes she wants to make to the original plan, I started to panic. What she was describing was way too over the top for me, and the feel I was going for. I'm really not into crystals, or bling in any way. I like romantic, kind of whimsical, but crisp and clean looking. She was running in the total opposite direction. I really appreciate her thinking of us, and the offer to upgrade, but if those changes are what it's going to take to get the upgrade, I'll pass. I was seriously having heart palpitations over it.. could be because her phone call woke me up from a nap, and when I saw 'unknown number' I assumed that it was my sister calling from work.
In other news, the house stuff is coming along, but I've learned that I am not cut out for lawn care. I begged FH to hire a landscaper for next spring so it can be brought up to speed by a professional. I'm hoping to get everything cleaned up enough to do a quick video to show you ladies this weekend!
Hope you all get some time to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather today, heard that it's not supposed to be this nice tomorrow!

Phew, glad to see I wasn't the one who ended the September thread!
Meechie - Glad your shower went well, I really loved the rocks, such a cute idea.
I also loved how your engagement pics turned out! My BIL and his fiance looked into Mark Cooper for their wedding coming up in January, they were really torn between him and Barbara Ann Scott! Your wedding pics are going to be beautiful!
DayDreamer - Isn't it such a relief to know that your dress is HERE!? Mine's hanging in my parents basement until I'm ready to book for alterations. The shop was low on storage space, so I just took mine home to free up some room for them.
twosams - Welcome! Sounds like you have all of the BIG stuff taken care of!
Jules44 - I'm not sure what you guys have on the west coast, but FH wasn't even given the option to try it on. We had to pick out of a catalogue. I went to help pick out THE tux, but not all of the guys were there, it was just FH and his brother. When it comes to rentals, I think they're used to all of the different body types, which is why they take, like, 20 measurements. They also said that they're all at least slightly adjustable.
TnT - Thank you! And, yes, we're in the new place for good now. Getting the washer and dryer hooked up (finally) tomorrow.. got out of the shower this afternoon and had to dry myself off with the last clean towel in the house, which happened to be the size of a tea towel. Yep, time to do some laundry. I'm actually going to do a quick video tour for a friend in the states, she wants to see it too, so I'll post the link to it when I get it uploaded, hopefully tomorrow! I <3 paper lanterns. With all of our dates creeping up, I can't wait to see photos of all of our hard work!
AFM - Going to pick up the invites on Monday, can't wait to see them in person. I'm whiny right now because my lips got sunburnt today while I was out in the yard. I assembled the new BBQ like a pro, and weeded the yard like it was my job, but now I hurt. Can't WAIT to sleep tonight and sleep in tomorrow morning! Long weekends are the best, but long weekends without plans are even better! What does everyone else have planned?

LOL! Never even thought of gifts for the babies! We're not having kids other than my first cousins at the wedding, I'm the oldest in this generation by 7 years, and my youngest cousin just turned 11. Aside from them, we're creating a loophole by asking FH's cousin's children to be flower girl and ring bearer. We weren't going to do this originally, but if they RVP yes, they'll be coming from South America. How do you invite someone from that far and tell them they can't bring their kids?
The pregnant BM wasn't pregnant when we asked her to be in the wedding, although we knew that they were trying. I don't know what to say to her. I'm not upset, I'm so excited FOR her, and worried for her at the same time. I just don't think she knows what she's in for. As far as I know, she's never been in an wedding other than her own, and it's different when the day isn't all about you and what you need at any given time.
The wedding is at Cedarhill, they're doing the food as well. My friend got married there almost two years ago, and we really enjoyed the food, so we knew for sure that we wanted prime rib as the beef dish, so we didn't bother tasting that when we went, we wanted to try more chicken dishes. We ended up going with chicken with a peppercorn brandy sauce, and it's AWESOME. I'm not sure if it's part of thir regular menu, but if you ever want to try some place new for dinner, go try it!
Have fun at your bridal shower today, let us know how it goes! Mine's coming up next month on the 9th, can't wait!

DayDreamer - I *think* FH's start date is negotiable?? I'm not sure. He's working for DND, and they seem to really like him. Even after all of the budget cuts and layoffs, he was one of 5 students who got to stay. He doesn't seem to find contracts as scary as I do. I mean, the job security isn't there.. On the plus side, I work permanently at an addiction treatment center, and keep taking on more and more responsibilities, so I think I'm pretty rooted there. We could afford for him to be unemployed for a short while until he finds new work if needed. Regardless, losing 2/3 of our household income is not on my wish-list! LOL!
Good luck with the dresses

Maybe a little heart to heart with your mom asking her to lighten the mood? Tell her that it's hard to see the positive through all of her negative comments. Chances are that she doesn't even really realize that she's doing it. How did everything go with the neighbour who does flowers? Did the web-less communication work better?
Meechie - Weddings bring out the best and worst in some people, it's too bad that you have to see this side of your FMIL, but better now than later, right? I'm sure your FH is relieved to get his feelings off his chest, sometimes our guys are too wrapped up in making us happy that they put their own wants aside. A common response from FH is "Are you happy?", I say yes, then he says, "then yes, I'm happy". When you get into religious stuff, it seems to be the trickiest of all. Hopefully meeting with the priest one on one will help you and FH find a middle-ground.. something that ties in what's important to him, and comfortable for you. I had to suck it up big time when it came to a church ceremony, because not a single part of it is 'me'. On the other hand, while it's more important to FH's family than it even is to him, it's just easier to do it this way and not have to hear about it for the rest of our days together. You should have SEEN the look of relief on his Nonna's face!
Lysh - Sounds like you had a scary week! Hopefully this is just a one time thing, and the R&R was what you needed to get back on your feet! Your hangers look amazing! Seeing what you ladies have done with hangers makes me really regret buying them, I assumed that the wire was more... stiff I guess and that bending it would be difficult. Besides, your wedding party will likely find it a lot more touching that you made it yourselves!
Jules - Sorry to hear about the family friend, cancer is so vicious. It's already come up pretty often for us, September brides, even though we haven't been posting for that long. Fingers crossed that there will be a cure in our lifetime.
Auntieli - Sounds like drama! Personally, I think it's hard to invite someone and not allow a guest if it's allowed for everyone else. How do you think the friend will take it if you suggest that his GF isn't welcome? Will it affect your relationship with him later? FH has a few friends that I would nix off the list if I knew it wouldn't affect us later. His partying single friends that get out of control, fast, are still going to be invited, but without guests. We're talking about 10-15 of them who all know each other though. We aren't actually inviting many unknown guests because most of our friends are couples anyways, but all of our single friends who are attending the dinner, not reception-only are allowed a guest. Sorry, I rambled a little.. but long story short: I'd invite his GF, and try to avoid her that day.
honey_pie - Your invitations look amazing! All that on a tight deadline!?
AFM: House is almost ready to move in! We got countertops yesterday, and hooked up the plumbing to the bathroom sink. I'm going in to paint trim and clean this weekend coming, hopefully to spend the first night there on Sunday. I took my first nap there today

Wedding wise, the coordinator got back to me with an awesome list to fill out. It's really helping me see what I've accomplished and what is left to do. The list is to help her create a timeline for the day-of, if any of you are interested in it, I could email you a blank copy to look over. It took a lot of weight off my shoulders. We went for our food tasting on Saturday, and it was AMAZING! Can't wait for everyone else to experience the awesome food!
I'm a little worried about the wedding party.. my MOH will be over 8 mos pregnant, this is her second, she's sure she'll be fine, and a bridesmaid is due about 2 weeks before the wedding. It'll be her first, and I don't think she has any idea what she's in for. I mean, I've never given birth, but have a bunch of friends who have in the last 3 years, and they're generally not ok for a couple of weeks. They're exhausted, still physically sore, and are still trying to get to know their babies. I mean, even if she has a smooth natural delivery, she's going to hurt, and if she needs a cesarian, she's definitely going to hurt! She's hoping to breast feed, and plays it off like she'll just need to "feed the baby for a half hour here and there".

What about the pictures? What about sitting at the head table during dinner and speeches? What about being awake and on your feet from the early morning hours until the late evening? I get it.. some new moms bounce back, but does it make me sound like a bridezilla when I say that this is our day, and it's NOT going to revolve around her and what her baby needs? I really wish she'd realize this on her own.
Okay, sorry for the novel, I need to check in and respond more often!
Hope you're all doing well!

Welcome LD Bride! I've heard great things about the Mill St. Pub, my dad was just talking about it tonight, and how it's really nice for bigger events.
Jules - We're going to do a rehearsal the same night as the rehearsal at the church. I'm not sure where, but I'm going to procrastinate a little longer on this one. I'm really on the fence. We have family coming from Newfoundland, and some from England, and I don't know what to do. How many people to we invite? It'll turn into a 'can of worms' really quickly. Is it wrong to keep it just the wedding party and parents?
Lysh - Your dress is beautiful! You picked a similar shape as I did, but I still haven't taken a picture of me in mine.. It's hanging in my basement, so I might get my sister to take a pic some day soon! I ran into the same situation, it's WAY too big in the bust for me, which never happens. I wouldn't have been able to get a size down or it wouldn't have fit around my ribs. I think the sample was a size 6, and they couldn't even zip it up all the way.
Meechie - So sorry that things aren't working out as you hoped! It's difficult when religion is involved, and it's too bad that his mom pulled that on you guys and made him switch sides. Not being religious myself, I don't completely understand why it would be a big deal if the same pastor who would marry you at the church would be marrying you at an outside venue. I also don't understand why churches put such restrictions on things like this. St. Anthony's is quite particular about what music can be played, and that's not okay either. If I had my way, our wedding would have nothing to do with any church, but it's important to FH's extended family. I'm a pretty demanding girl, and most of everything else has gone my way, I felt like I had to give a little somewhere.
DayDreamer - We've thought about the honeymoon, but can't really book anything until FH figures out his work situation. He's finishing his degree and contract at work on Aug 31st

One freakin' day before the wedding, so unless his contract is renewed, he'll be out of work as of our wedding day. I can get the time off work easily, so if he's unemployed, we can go right away, but he might have to start a new job that week. We plan to book plane tickets to fly into Seattle, fly out of LA or Las Vegas two weeks later, and taking a road trip down through the west coast. I'm ready for an adventure!
I emailed the coordinator the other day and still haven't heard anything back. I just wanted to find out if I'm on track time wise, and wanted to make sure that I haven't overlooked anything important yet. I've had to put a lot of time and energy into the home reno, but we're in the home stretch. The countertops get installed on Tuesday, the plumber will be in shortly after to hook up the dishwasher and sink, and then we're ready to move in! We start moving stuff this weekend, but probably won't start sleeping there until next weekend. I've been DYING to move in, so the last two months have dragged on forever.
Everyone keeps telling us that if we don't kill each other before the wedding day, we'll make it through anything... Since getting engaged, we've dealt with serious illness, full time work and full time school (for him), full time work and part time school (for me), an insane home reno ON TOP of the regular wedding stuff. We've done the for better or for worse, richer and poorer (currently dealing with the latter thanks to the two big money drains), sickness and health. Almost at the 4 month mark!

We stayed at the Lord Elgin recently, actually, right after the Ottawa Humane Society Fur Ball at the Gallery! It's a great hotel, the rooms are nice, and although I haven't seen any of their event spaces, I'm sure it's beautiful too.
I need to put my blinders on and plug everything I have done into a spreadsheet or something. I have NO IDEA how much we've spent so far, and have committed to spend through contracts with vendors. I'm actually a little terrified to see the numbers. Anybody else have sticker shock?

Sorry to hear what you're going through Meechie. Would you be interested in or have you checked with the Courtyard? It's SO close to your venue, and a beautiful spot for a ceremony. What about at the NAG for the ceremony too, or do you want it to be indoors for sure?
I hope you find something that both you and FH are happy with. I'm not 100% sold on getting married in a church either, but so far, they haven't been too tough on us. I'm not overly happy about not being able to use whatever music I want, but I'll have to work around it.

Ohh.. I think most of their samples of work are on their Facebook page.
FB Page I've mentioned their website to them a couple of times. I thought I searched Ottawa high and low for invites in my price range, and never would have heard of them if FH's friends hadn't used them for their suite. I told them that they didn't come up in a single search that I had tried, and if it wasn't for social networking, probably never would have contacted them. Having at least a somewhat functional website is so important for small business now!
Anyways, based on personal experience, they're great to work with. They worked with my budget, I cut costs by asking to assemble them myself and put my own "finishing touches" on them. I ended up going a bit over budget in the end because I made a change to the original design and asked them to do a map instead of just an accommodation card, we decided that we weren't going to block any hotel rooms after all.
They can do anything from basic, single sided invites, to pocketfolds, to letterpress. Just dream it up!

Auntieli - I'm glad the info helped! It definitely takes some getting used to, but when you're able to see the pattern in your fertility signs, it's really easy to block off that time on the calendar as a "caution zone".
I emailed Brachic and Lilac lingerie, they both told me the same thing.. that they pretty much don't have anything off the rack, and would have to order something in my size. I've looked online, and found one that I'd like to order myself, they have a decent return/exchange policy, and I'm sure it'll work with the low back, so it's all down to the perfect fit now. I'm not going to complain about my bra size, I just wish there were more options for me, and others who have small ribs and a big rack! LOL!
DayDreamer - Glad you found the info useful as well! If nothing else, it's interesting to do the course (if you can really call it that) through email. I learned a lot of interesting things about myself.
I agree with everyone else, I think you need to go with your gut, and make your decision soon. If you choose to ask them to step down, maybe you could see if there's another way to incorporate them into your wedding. This past summer, my friend asked her two sister in-laws to read a poem at the ceremony. They mean a lot to her, but there were some friends that she wanted by her side instead. If they value your relationship the same way that you feel towards them, they'll get over it if they're hurt, and it shouldn't jeopardize your relationships in the long run. Good friends just want you to be happy.
Meechie - As always, the program is beautiful. Do you know about extra hours in the day that I don't? LOL! I'm just about done with my card box, I'll post pics when it's finished. I ran out of supplies, so I need to run by Michael's this afternoon. Did I tell you about my secret weapon? FH is a keeper, and bought me a Cricut a couple of years ago. It's been gathering a bit of dust lately, but I'm sure it'll get some good use over the summer. If anyone needs anything cut, let me know! I have enough cartridges and another program that lets me cut just about any font or shape.
I don't about the rest of you, but I was dying for this long weekend! I found out yesterday that the guys who are refinishing our hardwood are coming next week, and not this week, so I don't have to rush moving everything around and cleaning. I literally spent my whole day in my bed, or on the couch yesterday. I won't lie, I loved every second of it.

I don't have my heart set on any one style, but I do know that I'd like to incorporate a lot of greenery, not just flowers. I love ferns, and broad leaf plants, so I'd be super happy to have some of that in there. I'm trying to stray from traditional when it comes to the flowers, I feel like my dress is a lot more traditional than I ever anticipated choosing.
Hormonal birth control made me CRAZYY!! I was on it for about 10 years, same brand, tri-phasic. I didn't have any issues for the first 8 years, but I don't know if the product changed, or if it was just me changing, but that stuff messed me up! I tried different brands, and finally gave up. I'm proof that charting to prevent pregnancy actually works (they measure the success by those who are preventing, not those who are trying to conceive). How many night shifts do you work in a row? I've heard that it's difficult for those who do shift work to chart based on temperature alone, and that it's more important to watch the other "signs".

I'm all for Stag and Does, they're usually a GREAT time! With that said, I do think it's tacky to plan your own. We had friends throw one for themselves last year which was a little different, they rented out a whole bar, and we all just kind of hung out like you would on a regular Saturday night at a club or something. They mostly sold their own tickets, and did a raffle for some bigger ticket prizes.
Later last year, I, along with other wedding party members threw one for my best friend.. they bride and groom knew very little about it, other than the date. She told me later that they used the money to go on a honeymoon that they may not have gone on otherwise.
I don't know if our wedding party is organizing one or not, we won't be upset if they don't.. I'd actually rather not have one, I'm not a big night life kind of person, and don't drink.
Long story short, in my opinion:
Stag and Doe = Good
Throw one for yourself = Tacky

Auntieli - I forgot to answer this before. NFP is super easy once you get into the routine. They didn't really mention the time-sensitivity of some of the steps, but when I first started doing it, I did the "online course" on
www.fertilityfriend.com and found it super informative. I still use that site for all of my tracking, they have iphone apps (but I have a BB), and the mobile access on the blackberry isn't too bad either. Even if you don't plan on making changes until after the wedding, you might find it helpful to at least go through the online tutorial, it really does take a couple months of charting to get the hang of things and really see a pattern.
TnT - Honeymooning in Turkey sounds amazing! What made you choose Turkey? I'm not sure if we'll go on one right away, but we're hoping to go to California and do a road trip down the coast. We're only going to book flights and rent a car, everything else will be day by day!
Meechie - Love your blog! I usually have creativity coming out the wazoo.. but for some reason, nothing is really coming to me wedding-wise. I'm super jealous of all of the hard work you've put in, your guests are sure to notice, and comment on all of your very personal touches

I also really like the way the candles look with the vellum around them!
Lysh - I don't know if anyone posted this yet, but have you seen these?:
Save your heels! I bet no one would even notice them under your dress, and you could just pull them off after the ceremony. I've never used them, I'm more of a wedge heel girl myself, but I've heard that they work well. That's too bad that your FMIL went and bought a dress the same color as your mom's, especially if she said she was going to look for something totally different. I don't think my mom has decided on anything yet, but my FMIL bought an amazing purple dress, she lost a lot of weight this year, she's going to look great in it!
I'm kind of at a point where I don't know what to do next. This past week, I finished up some stuff for invitations, I'm debating making a map for them. I did a map for my friend's invites last summer, and just made it in photoshop. I might do the same for mine.
The dress is here, and any alterations will only be minor, so they told me to book for July. I can't start grouping guests by table since we don't know who will RSVP yes, I can start place cards, but can't finish those for the same reason. The florist told me to go talk to them more in the late spring to finalize flower choices, but I'm open to any green flower, I don't want anything other than green, no white or anything! So, again, I've done all we can do there, including buying vases.
I need to go garage sale shopping or something for picture frames, but I have yet to see a single one so far this year.
I have not had ANY luck finding green high heels. Height is negotiable, I'm comfortable in almost anything, but I'd really like something open toed. The only ones I've found so far (that I LOVED) were $320, so they're going to have to be on my "last resort" list.

Anyone else stuck in this do-nothing phase?

Look at you ladies go, crafting up a storm! Definitely haven't had any time over here to get anything done

My dress came in today! They called to tell me it was in, and asked if there was any way I could pick it up, they're super tight for storage space right now. I was happy to go try it on and take it home! It's SO much better than the sample was, she even said that the sample I tried on was in rough shape. Can't WAIT to wear this down the aisle.
I need to start looking around for a bustier or something, the back is too low for even a strapless bra, and my ladies do best with some support

They're FH's favorite feature, gotta make sure they're looking their best that day! Any recommendations in Ottawa? I heard that Marianne's on Merivale is good, but that their service is crap.

I was so confused! I didn't realize that everyone moved over to this thread! Still in disbelief that in 5.5 months, I'll be all married and stuff. LOL!
Auntieli - I enjoyed the course material, we've always been very open with each other, but I thought that learning how important it is to communicate well now, instead of agreeing to work on it later was really helpful. I wasn't too worried about the NFP part of the course, I've been doing that for almost two years now.. BUT, it was nice for Paul to see that I'm really not making it up, there is a bit of a science to it.
Meechie - I ended up buying 6 of those hangers off of Etsy, I wish I knew that they aren't overly complicated to make! I assumed that the wire was going to be hard to bend, and was pretty surprised when I got mine in the mail and that the wire was so flimsy.
I only had the one wedding nightmare that I can remember, I posted about it a while back. The short story was that I got pregnant, and everyone was telling me that my dress would fit on the wedding day, when I knew that it wouldn't! Everyone kept telling me to try it on to ease my fears, and no one understood that just because it fits right now doesn't mean that it'll fit when I'm 8 mos pregnant!
With that said, I'm expecting a call any day now about my dress. I bought it mid-September, and she said it'd be in around this time. I can't wait to see it again, try it on again! I couldn't even go back to try the sample on again, they only had it in for a trunk show and don't usually stock that sample. I wonder if I'll feel any differently about it?
We booked out DJ last week.. all we have left to do is book for the cake, and transportation. How are everyone else's plans coming along?

Meechie - Holy WOW! They turned out amazing! Here are my faves: 1, 5, 7, 9, 15, 20, 24, 27, 28, 29, 38, 41 (will likely knock your FH's socks off!), 44, 46
How are you going to pick just 12? I couldn't stop at 12!!!
You've inspired me.. I've been thinking about doing a boudoir shoot too, and the photographer that I got in touch with first is on mat leave and might not be able to do them until the summer. I got in touch with someone else, but I like the idea of the convenience of going to a "set", instead of booking a hotel room, or doing it at my own home. I'm going to email the photographers back!
Auntieli - TOO FUNNY! We were at the same table as you, such a small world! "We" are Jess and Paul. I wish we had gone to a different course than Paul's cousin, it made me feel pretty uncomfortable being there with them.

Thanks ladies! We're both on the mend, bruises are starting to disappear, and insurance stuff is pretty much settled. I was super impressed with how fast they worked... The accident happened at 6 last Friday, they had a cheque ready for me at 10 this past Friday, and I picked up my new car at 5:30 Friday night. I have to go for a follow up doctor's appointment one Tuesday afternoon, the impact caused some ovarian cysts (that I didn't even know I had) to rupture. One of my knees and one of my hips still hurt a fair bit, so I'm going to have that looked at too!
Here's a pic of the damage:
My poor car(I can't get the image link to work)

Jules - Yay for green! I checked out the clover, looks nice! Since you've already picked bridesmaid dresses, at least you have something to match to use when matching up pieces for the guys. We're doing more of an apple green, but the girls are going to wear black dresses of their choice, so anything is really open for the guys.
I think we might look into buying ties, and having the guys in white vests or something, FH would really like to wear a white vest and white tie in a grey suit. I'm so glad that he wants to keep things simple.
Also, like the others mentioned, I don't think that white flowers with the soft white dress will be a problem. White flowers aren't always the brightest white anyways, a lot of them have yellowy tones.
Auntieli - We're sending out invites out in early-June, because we do have a bunch of guests coming from out of town. With that said, though, we did send out Save the Dates, so we could probably get away with sending them later if we wanted to. It's nice to give your guests enough time to arrange their travel/accommodations, but not so early that the invitation gets tucked away and forgotten about.
Meechie - You're so crafty it HURTS! I love all of the little touches you're putting into your wedding, especially that sign for your son, too cute!
Last night, FH and I drove to our insurance office 1/2 hour outside of the city to sign some paperwork for home insurance. The roads we crappy, but I'm always comfortable behind the wheel regardless of weather, and always drive with the road conditions in mind. We drove out to the office, drove back to the Home Depot in Kanata, and headed home from there. About 3 streets away from home, we got in a head on collision! A young guy coming in the opposite direction lost control coming around a bend in the road, and slid into my lane. We're all okay, but my car is definitely not. The hood and radiator are crushed, the bumper is gone, headlight is gone, windshield is cracked, my airbag deployed.. it's a mess, and that's just what we can see! I have no idea what the repairs will cost, I have to wait until at least Wednesday to hear back from the auto body shop.
FH and I are a little bruised, sore, and shaken up, but we're grateful that it wasn't more serious. If the same collision happened on a day when roads were clear, we both would have been traveling faster, and the outcome might not have been as good as it was. I've never been in any kind of accident, so it scared the crap out of me!
I hope that all of you ladies are having a better weekend that I am!

We'll check them out for sure! The guy working at Moore's even told us to look at TipTop because they have been in the rental business so much longer. Meechie - Your invitations look great! It's amazing that you pulled all of that together yourself! You're so crafty.. love the shirt and bell wands too! I haven't put much thought yet into programs, or if we're going to give out bubbles or something, your bell idea is adorable and the total opposite of messy!
We're doing our marriage prep course March 2nd and 3rd, it's required by the church for us to get married there. I'm not religious, neither is FH, but his entire family has gotten married there, and it's about the only traditional thing we're sticking to. I've heard that the course brings up a lot of great topics that not all couples talk about with each other prior to getting married, so I'm kind of looking forward to it. FH's cousin gets married the month after us, so they'll be doing the course the same weekend, we'll at least have one couple we know there!
Also love your color scheme. FH was looking to grey suits as well, but nothing is settled yet. We went to Moores this past weekend, but I wasn't impressed with their selection of greens. We tried going to Morris, but they were closed. FH thinks he'd like to be in just black/white or grey/white, his boutonniere would be the only green, the groomsmen would likely have green vests/ties, or white vests/green ties.
Walkinthepark - Love your dress! The neckline is beautiful, and straps will probably keep you comfortable throughout the day. You won't have to worry about a strapless that feels like it's sliding!
This week, we saw some proofs for our invitations, booked our photobooth, and I mailed in the request for a recent copy of my baptismal certificate (blows my mind that I have to do this for the church when I still have the original). I called to book a block of hotel rooms, and stocked up on some vases for centerpieces (FH has been AMAZING for this, he went and bought out all of the Michaels stores in Ottawa).
I hope to settle on ceremony decor and start on a guestbook this week, if I'm lucky, I might get to start them too!
Life in nuts right now, just bought all new appliances yesterday as well as a couch and chair. We get our place March 1st, and it's definitely a big project. In two weeks, we'll be beating the crap out of the old kitchen with some sledgehammers! That should help release some frustration, or at least pull a few muscles!

Meechie - So sorry to hear about your friend. People like her are put on this planet for a reason, and to have played such a big role in events and organizations that fund a disease that touches us all in some way or another is amazing. I'm sure that everyone who was close to her will love to watch and take part in these events knowing that it's a way for her memory to live on. I've heard lots of great things about both the Breast Dress Project and the Something White Gala! I can't wait to wear my wedding dress over and over (providing I still fit into it!) at the gala, and if I out grow the dress, I'll donate it for sure

I'd love to get more involved in fundraising.. DF beat testicular cancer this year, and we were really hoping to get involved in the Awareness for Down There-Ness run this past year, but it was a) a month after his surgery, he was still sore, and b) the same day as my BF's wedding, which I was in. Maybe this year though!
It seems like you are VERY on top of things! It sounds like you're down to the detail work, all the big stuff must be out of the way?!
DayDreamer - I'm not a cake person, but DF reeeallly wanted one. I was hoping to keep costs low in that area, so instead of having one large cake to feed everyone, we're asking to have a modest cake made, and have the same cake/filling on slab cakes. They can just be kept in the kitchen, guests don't need to know that they're not eating the same cake they saw!
Walkinthepark - Welcome, and congratulations on setting a date! Can anyone else believe that we're almost at the 6 month mark?! Yahoo!!!
I just got some sample ideas from the invitation company, I like the looks of two of them, hoping to get a combination of the two

It's coming along nicely. We've also started buying the vases for centerpieces (Yay for 40% off coupons from Michael's!), so we're about halfway there.
I'm definitely hitting the high-stress level now.. I'm worried about getting everything done in time. We get the keys to our house in 3 weeks, and we want to get all of the big work done before we move in, I don't know how I'm going to manage my time!!

DayDreamer - Isn't the whole guest list thing horrible? It's frustrating to have family put their $0.02 in on it, we'd be able to have everyone we *want* there with about 2/3 of the total guest list as it stands. 5 years from now, who will really remember that you didn't invite so-and-so's cousin's girlfriend's brother? We agreed to invite some extended family members on both sides, more because we know they'd appreciate the invitation and not likely actually come.
Mitchi - We're doing the reno
before the wedding! Crazy, huh? We get the keys March 1st and hope to be living in it by mid-May. It needs a new kitchen, bathroom, and new floors... since we're going big, we might go home and knock out a wall while we're at it

Meechie - A shopping trip sounds like fun! NYC would be amazing, but Montreal is a good time too. Yikes about the dentist news though! I'm surprised they'd suggest all of that work for baby teeth. I know that the health of baby teeth can affect the permanent ones, but at 5, he's getting pretty close to losing them anyways! Have you thought about getting a second opinion?
I don't know much about what's happening for a shower, but my MOH asked for a list of addresses last week. She's been talking to my sister to work out a plan. We have a few friends that want to throw a stag and doe for us too, so that should be a good time. It's going to be a busy busy summer.

auntieli - We haven't settled on BM dresses yet. I've seen the Two Birds dresses, but I think they've been vetoed over here. The concern is coverage, because the more covered they are on the front, the more open on the back, and vice versa. At least two of the 5 BMs are going to want to wear bras. I haven't decided totally yet, but I've really been leaning towards having them all wear different dresses, but make sure they're all hemmed to knee length. I'm trying to figure out a way to dress the groomsmen different as well. We'll see

I've seen lots of great pictures of weddings with the wedding party co-ordinating but not identical.
