It's not that babies don't like car rides, it's that they need to eat so frequently and at a month old, they're not usually quick eaters. My LO was still taking about 45 minutes to eat when he was a month old and then he had to be burped and changed and then repeat everything in 2 hours.

I wouldn't use it but I'm very cautious when it comes to expired products like toothpaste and sunscreen. They're full of chemicals and although they wouldn't "spoil" the way food would, they have expiration dates for a reason and I'd rather buy new toothpaste/sunscreen than put something expired in my mouth or on my skin.

We just stopped using the swaddle with my DS. He used to be impossible to put to sleep if he wasn't swaddled (flailing his arms, sucking his hands, trying to roll) until we realized he likes being on his side. When he's on his side, he doesn't flail and he has his hands right in front of his face so easily accessible if he wants to suck on them.

My pots and pans are Lagostina and they're fine. I don't really use them all that much except to make rice/quinoa because I much prefer cast iron and enameled cast iron. I got a large stainless steel Calphalon saute pan as a wedding gift and it's the most warped piece of cookware I've ever owned. That's not to say that the brand isn't good, but if I wanted to buy anything else that was Calphalon, I would do a lot of research to make sure it was worth it.

I also wouldn't clean the carpets and would do a good cleaning of the whole house. It shouldn't take too long if you do it once all your stuff has been moved out. When I moved into my house, the previous owner left us a list of things that she thought we might want to know like what certain switches were for, what each key was for, garbage day, etc. When we move out, I'll add to the list and leave that for the next owner.

I'm on mat leave right now so I don't really know what's going on in the department. I'm not overly worried about my job because I'm in a sector that the Government considers a "priority". I do worry about the effect that this will have not only on the people who get cut, but on the whole region. If these cuts are going to happen over the next 3 years, that's a long time for people to be living in uncertainty. I suspect the economy in the NCR is going to take a hit and the effect of the cuts will be felt far and wide. As an example, my DH works in the private sector and most of their work comes from the government, then regular folks, then private companies. Last week, they already had to lay off someone because there just isn't any work or money coming in. If people are worried about losing their jobs, who's going to go out and buy a car, a house? I know that job cuts have happened all over the country and I feel for those people too, but I find it incredible that when car manufacturers need to close or lay people off, the Government steps in and bails them out and now it's that same Government that is going to be leaving even more people unemployed.
I'm crossing all my fingers and toes and hope that the cuts will be done strategically and that good workers will be spared.

I went on a 5 hour road trip last weekend and only stopped once. I know you're not supposed to leave babies in their car seats for long, but the car seat really only gets used when he's in the car or when we're running errands, it's not like I leave him in it when we're at home. I stopped once after 2.5 hours of driving, took him out of his seat, fed him, changed him, had a coffee, and then put him back in his seat and continued on.
ETA: the availability of rest stops would also influence whether I take him out or not and if I was stopping anyway because someone wanted food/drink or to go to the bathroom, then I would take him out of the seat.

I've never had trouble with basil and find it's pretty easy to grow. Just make sure to pinch off the flowers.
Cilantro on the other hand has never worked for me. I also grow all my herbs in one big pot so maybe cilantro just doesn't like pots? or maybe it's not good at competing for nutrients?
ETA: I've also grown oregano. Sometimes it grows well, other times not so much. I don't know why...

I moved into my current house almost 3 years ago. When I moved in, the yard was massively overgrown full of perennials and weeds. I've posted before about my battle with the wild violets. I think I've gotten the violets under control now so I'd like to focus on prettying up the flower beds.
My yard has two levels (with steps) and the top is entirely flower beds with the exception of a small path that leads to the steps. The flower beds are FULL of different types of perennials and while it's nice to have plants and flowers, it looks like a mess. There must be two dozen different types of plants that have spread and reseeded and they're not placed in a way that you can really admire their beauty. I'm talking about roses surrounded by tall flox next to a tiny, sad looking hosta. Each flower bed is about 10'x14' and once the plants grow in, there's no way of getting in there to pull weeds because there is no safe place to step without squashing a plant.
I'd like to start by putting in some stepping stones but before I decide where to put them, I need to figure out how to make room for them...
I'd like to bring some sort of order to this but I'm not sure how to go about it. Sunlight is pretty much the same everywhere because of a large honey locust tree that partly shades the whole area so that's not much of a concern. How can I rearrange the plants? This is much bigger than moving one plant so I don't know what is the best way of doing it. One at a time? Move them into pots until I know where they will all go?

We're not quite sure what my dog is, we got her at a local shelter and she doesn't quite look like anything in particular but we were told the mother was a boston terrier x border collie. The vet didn't give us anything for the seizures, she just said to make sure she didn't hurt herself and that if the seizures were only once a month (which they were at the time), that we should hold back from medicating. Now that they are more often, I think we will have to revisit the option of medicating.
I feel really awful to treat her the way I do... if we're home alone, I try to keep her awake and at night, every little noise wakes me up and my mind starts running.
How has the medication affected your dog?? I'm worried that figuring out the dosage is going to be trial and error and we're going to turn my dog into a zombie

UPDATE
My dog just had two grand mal seizures, 15 minutes apart. I hope that that's it for today. I am definitely going to try to get in with my vet tomorrow and talk to her about medication. I can't take the stress of all this and I would hate for my dog to get hurt. She had the second seizure while awake and that scares me even more. It started as she was walking down the stairs and fell down the rest of them. Luckily it wasn't far and the stairs were carpeted but I feel like this is becoming more than I can handle.
My 4 year old dog had her first grand mal seizure over the summer and then had one every month or so. I started tracking them in November and since then, she's been having them every 2 weeks.
After her first seizure, we rushed her to the vet and were told it could either be a one-time occurrence or that she could start having them regularly. The second seizure she had, we rushed her to the vet again and got blood tests done, all came back normal. We discussed medication with the vet and were told that since her seizures didn't last long enough to cause damage and since the medication had serious side effect, that we should only consider medication if the seizures seriously impacted our lives and we felt like they were more than we could handle.
Without medication, the episodes are fully over in 5 minutes and any risks are from her injuring herself during the episodes. Meaning we have to make sure she doesn't bang against furniture or fall down stairs.
With medication, she would have the side effects from the medication and would also have to have blood tests every 6 months to make sure the medication isn't compromising her organs.
So here's my dilemma: Apart from those 5 minutes every 2 weeks, my dog is as great as ever and I would prefer not to put her on medication for all the reasons listed above. The problem I'm having is that she always has the seizures when she's sleeping and now I'm insanely anxious whenever it gets to that 2 week mark and every single noise wakes me up at night because I think she's having a seizure; seeing her sleep makes me anxious because I think she could have a seizure any minute.
I don't know if anyone has been through something like this before, but I really need some advice as to how to get over my anxiety or what I can do to make these seizures more manageable, hopefully without medicating my dog.

I echo what everyone else had said, but I still feel for you... it really sucks that all the clothes were stained! If I had clothes that were borrowed, I would take extra good care of them and would replace the ones that were particularly stained or that were easiest to replace because, really, I'd be embarrassed to return a bin full of stained clothing.

I bought my fridge during a boxing day sale and it wasn't delivered until the following March so I definitely think you should get out there and shop. Stores can be very flexible with delivery and I don't think boxing day sales are meant to get rid of as much inventory as quickly as possible, that hasn't been my experience at all.
Also, make sure to check flyers and take them with you wherever you go. Some stores will price match or at least negotiate to try to match competitors.

I agree with PPs that throwing your own baby shower is tacky, especially for a second baby, but if it was after the baby was born and it was more a "meet and greet" the baby, then I feel like that is ok but mainly because I don't think gifts for the baby are expected at an event like that and it's more about ooing and aahing at the baby and not gifts.
