I'm in the same boat right now and could have written your post. I've been pumping with this baby for almost 7 weeks and I pretty much hate every minute of it. Like PPs have suggested, one of the things that makes it bearable for me is reading, surfing the net on my laptop or watching TV during sessions. And seeing the milk in the bottle when I'm done always makes me feel better. I've committed to pumping for 3 months like I did with ODD and I'm so looking forward to the moment when I can pack it all in

mommabare - I pump during the night right after DD's nighttime feed, whatever time that might be. Once she starts STTN I won't be pumping during the night.
What pump are you using?
I have the Medela Pump in Style. I've also used a Swing.
Do you feel you can't go out on day trips or into town etc because you will need to pump in two hours?
I've pumped everywhere - the car, friends' houses, etc. I went to Montreal for 3 days for a wedding a few weeks ago and brought my pump with me. So no, I don't let having to pump stop me from getting out and about. But I'm not pumping every 2 hours, I'm doing every 4 hours or so. It'll get easier as/if you start pumping less frequently.
Any other pumping mom's with toddlers?
My toddler likes it when "mommy makes milk" so she sits with me and watches and tries to help. A lot of the time I'll pump when she's in her high chair eating. Or, we'll turn on her favourite videos and I'll pump while she's entertained with the TV. The newborn I don't worry about - I leave her on her play mat or in her bouncy chair while pumping.

Another pumping mom here!
How long have you been pumping for? 6 weeks so far with with YDD, with ODD I pumped for 3.5 months
Why are you pumping?BFing more than once a day is just too darn painful.
Are you exclusively pumping? Or are you supplementing with formula as well?YDD gets about 60 - 70% BM. I mix BM with formula in each bottle.
Taking any herbal/medications to increase supply?Domperidome. I tried a lot of the herbal supplements with ODD and didn't find they helped much.
How many times per 24hr period are you pumping? 5 - 6 times
What is your yield for 24hrs?About 500 mL/16 oz. Not a lot, unfortunately.

I've gone a few times and always found it worth it. It's nice snuggle time too

I've never found other babies to be all that loud.
One theater I go to has stroller parking in another room. Other times I've gone and just had DD in the car seat and put the car seat on the floor or on the seat next to me.

I'm really happy with the floor, both the colour and durability. We have cats and there are a few scratches in the finish, but nothing that goes down deep into the wood. The biggest dents are from moving the piano and dropping the odd object. 5 years later and I think it still looks great!
This isn't the best picture but it's the best I have right now. Good luck!

muggins - I'm in Calgary
Our patio was just finished yesterday! The quotes we got for stamped concrete ranged from $12 to $16 per square foot. Our patio is around 450 square feet so it'll cost us roughly $6500. I'm really happy with how it looks. As for the long-term durability, I guess we'll see! The quotes for interlocking stone were more expensive - $17 to $19/ft2.
Here are some pics, sorry you can't see much detail because of the shadows...
For the person who asked about doing it themselves, DH and I consider ourselves handy and there's no way I would have taken on a project of this size by ourselves. If you're doing a small area and have some previous concrete experience, go for it. I'm pretty sure you can rent the stamps. Otherwise I would leave it to the pros - I think it's really easy for it to look awful if not done properly. But that's just IMO.

I walked by myself. I was going through a stage where I needed to assert my independence from my father and it made the most sense for me at the time. It wasn't hard - I just heard the music and went! If anything I went too quickly, although I did try to slow down and savour the moment!
I met my mom and dad at the front of the room after my walk down the aisle and gave them each a kiss and hug before joining hands with DH.

Baby is already growing out of her newborn sleepers - time goes by so quickly!
Corgan - ODD is in the "NO!" stage now too and I hear you about the toddler being more work than the baby!! She's in daycare full time until the end of the month. Come July she'll go part time (3 days a week). It's really nice having the day to hang out with the little one (especially since she sleeps so much!) and I'm definitely not feeling as tired this time around.

Like PP have said, just because we didn't experience it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
I had trouble with BFing pain from the beginning so I pumped for most feeds and nursed DD once a day to help with supply. We did this for 2 months. DD never refused to BF during this time - she would always latch easily and didn't seem to have nipple confusion. But because she wasn't BFing full time she wasn't very efficient at it and it took her forever to finish a feed. The pain I was experiencing didn't go away so I finally gave up and pumped full time.
I think if you're worried about nipple confusion follow the recommended guidelines about when to introduce a bottle. But based on the responses above it sounds most moms and babies here haven't encountered it.

We're in the midst of painting with our basement reno and I was told that the painters typically paint the walls of the bathroom our chosen colour and paint the ceiling a white that matches the ceiling in the rest of the basement. The other bathrooms in my house I painted myself and I painted the ceiling the same colour as the walls. I had been thinking of painting the ceiling with the wall colour but now I'm second guessing myself!
What's more common in newer homes - a white bathroom ceiling or a ceiling the same colour as the walls? What do you prefer?
Thanks!

In the beginning DD would fall alseep while feeding, so I didn't really have to do anything. At around 6 weeks she wouldn't fall asleep while feeding so we introduced a soother, which worked like a charm (I fed, swaddled, put her in the crib, then put in the soother). At 3 months the soother stopped working and there was absolutely nothing I could do to get her calm and sleepy so we decided to sleep train.

I started around 6 months, using signs I found on sign language websites. By the time DD was 1 year the only sign she used was milk. At that point I kinda gave up on it and only continued using maybe 10 signs, generally food related. Now she's 21 months and has randomly picked up some of the signs that I use sporadically. She speaks the word if she can but when she can't she's started signing it (still food related - cracker, cheese, drink). So in the end I'd say the effort (or at least my half-WBassed effort) was worth it

DD didn't need movement to fall asleep, but it definitely made her fall asleep faster. Up to about 2 months old she would often fall asleep while I was just holding her or during a feed. That said, when she hit 3 months things changed and the only way she would nap was moving in her stroller or car seat, so I had to do some sleep training.
