I teach prenatal classes on a contract with a new company here. They (the owner and her partner) decided to re-draft everyones contract with a massive change in pay structure. The new contract still isn't completed but they have decided to just change everyone onto it anyways.
As of right now my contract states I make 70% of the class fee per person. They decided to change it to a set amount, which way lower than I would agree to. It is basically the same as if I were only ever teaching one person which the owner knows I am not interested in doing because it is not worth my time. We had a meeting a few weeks ago (after I had done 2 classes for them) discussing this and they told me about the new contract. I told them that I would not agree to the terms they mentioned but needed to see the contract before I decided anything and confirmed that I am on the old contract. They were a MONTH late in paying me and they switched the pay anyways. So my pay is less than 1/2 of what I was expecting.
I've worked with this lady since we both started and I'm so disappointed that it is going to end with her trying to screw me over. She's made and broken promises before so I'm not too surprised. It is clear she is really only interested in making money and even sells services she isn't qualified for rather than give it to someone who is. Now I'm out about $600 we were counting on and I have about $1000 worth of stock at her premises I'm going to have to get back.
I'm so mad. Who would just agree to a 50% pay cut? How on earth could they think I would be ok with that? Lame lame lame.

Your breasts are never "empty" really. Babies can drink what is stored but they can also drink right off the production line so to speak. For the first 6 weeks or so most people over produce milk because your body isn't sure how much you need, which is why women feel so full in the early weeks.
Basic milk production lesson (yay!)- There is a hormone in the milk that slows production when the breasts are full. What full is varies from person to person and even breast to breast. Some people can store quite a bit of milk in their breasts so it will take a while before they start producing more milk, others will kick production into high gear fairly quickly because they don't store very much. Think of it as a coke fountain thingy. If you have a big cup you may not need to go back to the tap to get more. If you have a small cup you need more trips to the fountain to quench your thirst. Because the baby has access to the tap you can't ever really empty the breast 100%. If you are pumping it may get to a point no more milk is coming out but babies are better milk removers by far so they'll be able to milk a pump can't.
As for how to know when to switch sides or if you should just feed from one- There is really no wrong way to set up feeding, other than perhaps to cut off feeding at a specific time interval. If you choose to only offer one breast per feed (or in a 3 or 4 hour block) then your milk supply will adjust accordingly. If you want to offer both sides, feeding one until baby comes off or falls asleep, wait/burp/change diaper etc then offer the other side your supply will set itself up for that. Just pick one method you like and stick with it.
Little babies particularly like to eat in courses as feeding can be tiring for them. One LC I know calls it resting for desert. Babies eat, pass out all milk drunk or take a little breather then about 5-10 minutes later fancy a round of desert. That can come from the same side or the other side. Totally your call. This is even more apparent if the baby needs to burp. Lots of space can be freed up with a good burp! Again you can put back on the same side after a burp to finish the feeding and then offer the second side if they wake up after a short rest or switch sides.

DD is not quite 4 but she asked how the baby got in my tummy and I said Mommy and Daddy made it. That satisfied her for now. At this age I'm not sure how much she would really "get" other than Daddy brings some ingredients and Mommy brings some ingredients and then the baby grows and gets strong in it's "house"

As a person who was sexually abused in a day home I'd have a bit of a freak out. I'd expect that kid to be removed or I'd remove my kid and I'd beg the parents to get him counseling. I agree that at age 4 it likely isn't done with sexual intent but it would worry me that it could lead to that because clearly laid out boundaries are not being respected.
4 year olds do weird stuff and they are way too young to really "get" a lot of what we consider to be inappropriate and there is a knee jerk reaction with anything even kinda sexual but the biggest concern for me is that he has been talked to about it and he is still doing it. That to me is a call for attention and one that, personally, I'd want help handling.

What a miserable thing to have to deal with. I wish you speeding healing.

I would never consider leaving the room to feed my kid. If my FIL, brother, father whatever is in the room or not my baby needs to eat so they get to eat. If it makes them, or anyone else uncomfortable, then I assume they are mature enough to look away or leave. Totally their right as much as it is mine to feed my kid. No drama required.
At the risk of being bannned....And heck I'll even put it in a spoiler box

I wish the baby was a bit older so the idea of it eating the cookie wasn't so weird.
I have never owned a breastfeeding cover. Waving a pink and brown paisley flag around while you try and wrestle a kid under it only draws attention to the fact you are breastfeeding IMO.
I've had a conversation with an older guy while breastfeeding my daughter and midway through her feed he said "you're not going to do something drastic like breastfeed her are you?" He nearly fell off his chair when I said she'd been feeding for the last 10 minutes. Clearly if he can be across a table from me chatting and not notice it was pretty darn discrete.
I'm not about to buy and sterilize a bottle and pump, pump milk, lug it around with me, find a way to heat it up while my kid cries, try and convince my kid to take the damn thing because an adult can't manage to control their where they place their eyes. I see lots of things that make me uncomfortable, leopard print harem pants and purple plastic shoes for example, but I'm not about to go give them fashion advice or bother being offended. I'll just look away.

So basically, even though people are telling you that it is offensive to be called skinny, you don't care because you don't agree?
So if I want to be short and I call a short woman a shrimp and she gets offended she is in the wrong because I don't agree that it is an insult? If I want big boobs and I say "Hey nice tits!" It is ok because to me that isn't an insult. BIg boobs are the cultural ideal after all so she should just say thanks.
Interesting.

I think (although I'm too lazy to google) that chicken in canada and the states is fed GMO feeds and are something GM themselves. Not sure on that in Canada though.

For me I absolutely pay more for non GMO, antibiotic and hormone free meat. Organic is something that is just generally tagged onto that mix. I have no issue with mass production per say as long as they have no antibiotics or hormones fed to the meat and are fed the proper food (ie no corn for cows)

Another one that hates being teased for being thin. I don't care if it is jealousy or not, making comments about what I am or am not eating is rude. Just as rude as someone commenting on a fat girls meal choice. Telling me to shut up because skinny people don't get to talk at the table is rude. Saying I don't get to decide what is and is not offensive to me because I am "society's ideal" is also rude.

We will likely leave the bed here and find a furnished place in Thailand if we can but we may have to ship it since none of the places we've looked at will fit three kids.
Getting money off here is pretty much impossible unfortunately. I decided to keep it and they were pretty grateful that I wasn't canceling. We'll see how it works out I guess.

If my kids don't want to eat any meal I don't make a big deal of it. I do remind them that if they are not hungry for dinner/lunch then they are not hungry for snacks either and I am starting to ask DD to at least sit at the table with us for a while. I don't punish the for not eating or fuss about it at all and the dinner shinangins became less and less. No attention over it means it is much less exciting to throw a fit and they know if they don't eat they will be hungry. There are times I swear kids live on air and water but as long as they are happy and growing I don't stress about how much food they are eating. I make healthy meals and they can choose if they want to eat it or not.

Not sure if it is pregnancy making me crazy or what so I need some perspective.
We're setting up the "big kids room" and I went out to buy bunk beds the other day. We were planning on spending about $900 with no mattresses. As I was looking through a catalog the shop lady said they had a bunk bed set up towards the back of the store. It had all the things we wanted (drawers under, cupboard at the head boards, tall rail and ladder at the foot) and it was only $800 WITH mattresses. It looked small to me so I asked if it was standard twin. She said yes. To make sure I asked if it was the same size mattress as the ones in the catalog. She said yes. I asked a third time saying it seemed small was she sure is was the same. She said yes.
I bought it, paid in full and came home to order sheets.
Today we were out and DD wanted to see her new bed so I took her to the store and there was a little sign on there with the mattress size so I wrote the numbers down because it still seemed small to me. I get home and check it against standard size and it IS smaller.
Standard is 99 x 191 and this is 86 x 183. So it is smaller but only by 13 x 8. The sheets I got are standard so they won't quite fit right.
I'm peeved that I asked THREE times and was told it was standard, the same as the us and uk beds in the catalog and it isn't. The sheets won't fit and it isn't what I was told it was however it is a good deal and the room is tiny so smaller bed isn't totally bad. The info was there but I trusted the lady who worked there rather than check myself.
So what do you think? Should I cancel the order for 13 cm? Is it worth paying a few hundred bucks for a standard bed?

I am a basket case when I leave my kids but they always handle it much better than I do. When we went to Italy last year MIL emailed us every night with a few lines about what they did that day etc and it helped me a lot.
I totally agree about not calling though. We went to New York when DD was younger and I called on skype and it was a disaster. My Dad said it was the only meltdown she had all weekend. As hard as it is not to talk to them it makes it WAY harder for the kids so I just suck it up.
Totally worth the stress of leaving and the missing the kids. I'm so recharged when I get back that I am a way better mom and the time with DH reminds us (me) that we are a couple as well as parents and gives us time to reconnect.

My cousin is adopted and after much testing they still can't decide if she is FASD or aspergers. Currently it's aspergers but up until recently she was diagnosed as FASD.
She was adopted at a few days old and we knew from the first time we held her there was "something". It was at times very hard for my Aunt and Uncle but she just turned 18, is graduating high school, she excels at sports (seeing her play rugby is awesome) and is generally a pretty run of the mill PITA 18 year old with a job and a boyfriend. We're not sure what she'll do with her adult life but she will find something and I have no doubt in my mind she'll be independent. There was a long period where no one was sure if that was a possibility for her but she has really done so well.
