My absolute favourite part of New York was walking across the Brooklyn Bridge into lower Manhattan. I would recommend spending part of the day doing that, especially if you're interested in going to Ground Zero, the Financial District, and/or using the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty.
I also adored Central Park - if you are able to, spend the whole day there. We spent two half days when we went and it wasn't enough.
We also really liked the Museum of Natural History - we spent about five hours there (we spent the other part of the day in Central Park) and could have stayed longer.

Is anyone still watching this show? Seriously, this weeks episode was absolutely amazing!! When I first started watching it, I absolutely loved Jess and her awkwardness - now, I want her scenes to go by super quickly so that I can watch Nick, Winston, and Schmidt.
Speaking of Schmidt - how awesome was his date with Cece's Russian roommate?? McMouse had me crying from laughter.

We used Danceland DJ's, and were really pleased with the DJ (I can't remember his name at the moment) and the pricing.
As for the caterer, I can not recommend Picknic's enough - Nicola, the owner/chef, is amazing at creating a menu that works within your budget and the food is amazing (almost all of our guests came up to us or our parents to tell us that it was some of the best food they had had at a wedding)! She was super quick at answering my questions and the servers based at the wedding were so sweet and super efficient. The only issue I had was with the bartender Nicola provided us - she was never behind the bar, constantly going out for smoke breaks, and my family was constantly covering for her (serving drinks, going around and picking up empty cups/cans/bottles) - I explained that to Nicola and she refunded me the entire cost of the bartender without question. She also does cakes - I didn't love the decoration but the cake and icing were delicious (she doesn't use fondant). Just so I'm clear - love, love, LOVE Picknic's, haha.
I used RealTouch silk flowers, so I can't help you with the florist.

On average, I would say we spend about $120 a week on groceries. We go to the city once a month to stock up and shop a little cheaper because of it - ideally, I'd like to meal plan an entire month and just pick up parishables at our (expensive!!) small town grocery store. We maybe go out for a meal twice a month (once in town, once when in Grande Prairie).
Gas is nominal, because we live in a small town - we probably fill our secondary vehicle once a month (if that!) and our main vehicle two or three (depending on if we go to GP, which is a 360km round trip).
We don't have an allowance set up, since there's nothing to spend that money on here. Same with Misc., we maybe spend $15 total on different things throughout the week (birthday cards, printing pictures).
The main thing we spend our money on here is projects around the home - and that's a seperate line on our budget

Ugh, I totally understand your frustration! I've been off BC since July 2011 and had regular periods all the way until February and I haven't gotten one since. I'm currently sitting at 37 days late, and it's been 74 days since my last period started. I've done four tests and have gotten four negatives.
I'm going to the doctor next Tuesday to see what he says, hopefully there's a solution even though it's only been two months.

Thanks for your input, Babs!
I'd love to go to Savannah (it does look lovely) but I don't think it will work with the route I have kind of mapped out for us. You've made a really good point about the rental car, I will look into a round trip from Atlanta, instead of breaking up the trip. As far as the driving is concerned, that's why I want to do this trip so badly - the road trip aspect - so I'm completely fine with that. We'll have one full day in Pensacola (2 nights) so I'm sure we'll have a lot of time during that day to get our surf on

So, I'm currently planning a twelve day trip to the SE US in August - DH hasn't quite jumped on board yet so I want to get some ideas from you lovely ladies to help entice him that this is the PERFECT vacation for us to take!
The plan would be to fly into Atlanta and drive clockwise, ending up in Nashville and flying out there. I need help figuring out things to do in Atlanta, New Orleans, Memphis, and Nashville specifically and if there is anything we can't miss in between!
Here is a rough itinerary that I've come up with:
Day 1: Fly into Atlanta
Day 2: Tour around Atlanta, drive to Pensacola FL with pit-stops in Alabama
Day 3: Pensacola - surf lessons, day at the beach
Day 4: Drive to New Orleans
Day 5: New Orleans
Day 6: New Orleans
Day 7: Drive to Tupelo MS, tour around Elvis' birthplace, drive to Memphis (could also stay in Tupelo instead of driving into Memphis this day)
Day 8: Memphis - Graceland, Sun Studios, Beale Street
Day 9: Spend the morning/early-afternoon in Memphis, drive to Nashville
Day 10: Nashville
Day 11: Nashville
Day 12: Fly home
For those of you who have been to Nashville - is two full days too much? Other then the Country Music Hall of Fame, is there much to do during the day? Should I take away a day in Nashville and add a full day in Atlanta?
Okay, your turn!!

Nuke mentioned the US East Coast - New York, Boston, DC - I think that any of those would be an amazing choice, considering you'd be leaving from Halifax. You would basically have an extra day because your travel time would be so short.
I was also thinking the West Coast - Napa, Sonoma, San Fran, LA - but really, the flying time would be just as long (or even longer!) as going to Europe!

A different type of vacation then the wonderful places PP's mentioned, but DH and I are currently planning a trip to Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi in mid-August and I am so freakin' excited about it!
We're flying into Atlanta, driving through Montgomery and Mobile (Alabama) to New Orleans. From there we're driving up to Tupelo (Mississippi, Elvis' birthplace) and then up to Memphis and over to Nashville (where we'll fly out). Definitely not for everyone but I'm aching for a road trip and have always wanted to visit the South

My favourite parts of our trip to NY were Central and Battery Parks, the day we spent in Brooklyn (we went to Coney Island, walked around near the water, and then over the Brooklyn Bridge - we did Lower Manhattan this day, as well), and going to a Broadway show. The next time we go I definitely want to spend more time in Brooklyn and see more then one Broadway show during the time we're there.
Other things we did: went to a Yankee's game, went to the Museum of Natural History (we loved this but you need a full day to really appreciate it!), walked around Soho, Time Square (of course!), Top of the Rock... I can't even remember everything, haha!

My first ever post in BB, holy smokes! Hopefully I'm posting in the right spot!
I am currently 15 days late, have POAS twice, and they have both been negative.
Here is some background:
- My last period was from February 6 to 11
- I "should have" ovulated around the end of February/first couple days of March
- My period "should have" come around the 13th (ish) of March (I have a longer cycle, usually 35 days)
- we DTD on February 23, twice on March 3, as well as on March 10 and 18
- I POAS on March 19 (FRER) and again on March 26 (drugstore brand)
- No signs/symptoms that my period is coming anytime soon
I was SO sure I was pregnant, especially before I tested on the 26, so was really bummed out when it showed up as negative. Is there ANY chance that I could be pregnant, or is my body just out of whack? I'm not under any stress and I haven't changed my diet in any major way...

If you didn't want to do a purple accent wall, you could use a darker grey behind the bed and then do a light grey on the remaining three walls and that would look lovely (I did this in my living room).

I would say generally yes, it's company ready. To me, company ready is the house being mostly tidy. Kitchen countertops cleaned off, dishes put away, dining and living room tables clear of magazines or papers, that sort of thing.
If I have fifteen minutes, I would give the floors a quick sweep and Swiffer and the furniture a quick Swiffer dusting (because of shedding dogs!). I would also wipe down the vanity and toilet.
