Meechie - I'm looking at your photos and they are soo nice!! I was just curious, where did you get the pew "hooks"? I noticed them in some of your photos and I would love to know where you got those. I'm thinking of making tissue flower poms and I would love to be able to hang them like you did rather than around the end of the pew.

Hi Ladies,
I'm looking for an organist and possibly violinist to accompany a friend of mine who will be singing at our wedding ceremony.
I have no clue where to start looking for this. I've gotten a quote from a string duo, and I have found some other string musicians, but I have no clue where to find an organist.
Any ideas or reccomendations would be greatly appreciated!

SOOO PRETTY!!!
I did the same thing! I had an appointment to go back with my Mother and Mother in law to buy the dress my MOH & BM loved from our first shopping visit.
I decided last minute to stop in at another store 2 days before the appointment with my mom and MIL and I found my dress! Same thing, Sample Sale 50% off and I loved it!!!
This dress is so gorgeous and you look gorgeous in it!

its funny you say that Jayson, When discussing this with my FI the other night, I pretty much told him I would likely yell at him for randomly buying expensive DJ equipment. (BTW he's not a dj, its just something he's picked up lately and thinks he'll be the next big thing) He told me that I SHOULD be yelling at him if he spends that kind of money without either having first come to an agreement about it or him saving up some personal finds to purchase something so large.
I think maybe he's looking for me to help him be more responsible when it comes to spending.

So as we get closer to the wedding the topic of shared money is coming up quite a bit. I was wondering if I could get some feed back.
I know most married couples do share money and have joint accounts and I understand why it makes sense, but my question is how does it work "smoothly".
Right now FI & I split everything 50/50. He pays the rent and hydro and gas bill and I pay the rogers bill. Now I say that meaning we literally pay the bill however we split it 50/50. I take his half of the rogers bill off what I send him for Rent and the other stuff.
When it comes to groceries, we are one of those couples (annoying or not) who split the bill at the cash. If its a $90 grocery, he pays 45, and I pay 45.
I realize doing it this was it a little crazy and complicated but it's worked for us for the last 2 years.
On the positive side, his money is his money and my money is my money. Therefore if he wants to go blow a huge chunk of cash on something that I think well... is stupid, that is fine, its his money. I feel like I will become "controlling" if we start combining our money. Like "NO you DO NOT need that $700 DJ mixer thing! Even though your audience of zero might really appreciate it." OR "No we don't need a foosball table."
Side Note: Why is it that men require such ridiculous EXPENSIVE crap??
Fi is a big spender on most things, when we go shopping he will blow a couple hundred even before I think to pull out my debit card. He likes to shop, where I don't necessarily do. How far does shared money go? Does clothing come out of the joint account? or does it come out of our personal accounts we have for our "allowance"?
Anyway, I was wondering how other people do this and make it work? I know eventually I will give in and we will begin sharing money, so I'm just looking for tips on how to make it work!

Just want to add my two cents! I "won" a session with Bri. She was looking for ladies to help her expand her portfolio and I applied to be one of her subjects! It was an awesome experience. Becuase it was for her own promotional material I was basically at her mercy which was awesome. I had no expectations what so ever as the pictures were for her not for me, so I just went for it! It was so much fun!! Her Stylist did my hair and make up with the direction of Bri's vision.
It was so much fun and Bri was so professional and easy going, she really knows how to make a woman feel sexy!!!
Here's a couple of the photos I got to keep as part of our agreement!

Iknow you just said to stay away from the Market but I would definitely reccomend the Courtyard Restaurant. Friends of mine got married there last summer and it was gorgeous and the food was to die for.
Aside from that, perhaps you can look at Le Cordon Bleu Bistro called Signatures I believe. Umm... The Keg Manor is a nice venue.

FI and I have come to a compromise about doing a Host Bar. We both agree that the cocktail hour should be host bar, we are providing wine during dinner, FI wants to keep the bar open during dinner for the odd person who'd prefer a beer or spirit instead of the wine.
Fi would have loved to have host bar open all night, however, I dont think the budget allows for it (not to mention half these people are HEAVY drinkers), so we are compromising and having the host bar until 10pm. Which I think is completely reasonable.
FI mentioned having the DJ make an announcement and I am completely against that. I don't want there to be a mad rush for the bar becuase the DJ basically calls "last call" this isn't a night club or bar.
Anyway, I suggested we place a polite maybe cutesy sign on the bar itself, letting people know we are hosting the bar until 10pm after which it will be switched to cash bar. I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on wording this? It would be cute if it was a Rhyme or Riddle but I'm not that creative. Does anyone have any ideas?

Just wondering when is the right time to order invites? Obviously after everything is booked, but is there a time that is still "too early"?
Our wedding is in a year, everything is booked, even our reception has been 60% paid already. Vistaprint has a 50% off sale right now, and it kills me not to take advantage but I feel like its still too early to order invitations.
I've been on the vista print website since we got engaged just shopping around and playing with different things, and I know they ALWAYS have sales. So I know they will have another 50% off sale in a few months.
But I'm just curious, when is a good time to order Invites?

Again... Here to vent...
I told some girlfriend we are taking dancing lessons. One decided to "warn" me that when she took dancing lessons, they didn't end up using them becuase the dress was in the way.
I'm like thats too bad. I actually plan to practice with my crinolin on (I know it will look funny) so hopefully it will help get used to having the dress in the way.
Well she's like "oh and just so you know, your dress will drop 2 inches, so you'll likely end uo dancing on your dress."
Like Seriously? Why are you So against me taking dancing lessong. I know lots of couples who've done it and actually used them for their first dance. Its unfortunate you didn't end up using your lessons, but don't freaking be so negative about the idea. GAH I hate negative people!

I personally like the Allure dress, but I LOVE lace dresses! I think it looks fantastic on you.
The most important thing is how you feel in the dress! if you feel beautiful, it doesnt matter if the other one is "more flattering. How you feel on your wedding day will shine through.
Pick with your heart not your head! If you love one, you'll regret not getting it.

So I bought these tall candle holders (Pls ignore the photo & votives).
Our tables are going to be round with White Chair Covers and dark satin plum table cloths.
I don't want to spend alot of money on centerpieces so I was thinking I'd have the tall candle holder in the center of the table and just add a few tealights around it. I part of me feels like this would be very plain.
I'm now thinking it might be nice to have a babys breath ring around the tall candle holder and that be the total centerpice.
Like this without the pears! lol and the tall candle holder where the large white candle is.
What do you guys think? Would doing this be expensive?

FI picked ours, Good to you - Mariana's Trench.
When we first started dating the alarm on my phone was always set to play this song when we woke up. (Gasp, sleepovers at the beginning of a relationship? I know, whatever). We've always said this was our song so while the lyrics aren't perfect, the Chorus is really amazing and its a special song to us!

Hi Ladies,
I'm getting my engagement photos done today and I'm sooo excited & nervous and kind of stressed out!
I feel like the whole build up to these photos has been quite stressfull. What to wear, should I get my hair/makeup done. If I do my own make-up will it be good enough.
We picked a location to shoot at, and basically had to convince my photographer to shoot there. I'm not entirely sure why but he didn't seem very happy with the location but I think it will be amazing!
Anyway, I'm kinda stressed out, I have built up these photos so much, I hope I'm not disappointed!!!

I like the idea of going dressy and wearing a flowy dress that I have, but at the same time, casual pics can be super cute as well.
Our Photographer is Mark Cooper, so I want an outfit that matches his style. (If you know Mark Cooper, you know of his style).
Any suggestions of what to wear??

I think it depends how its done.
I've been invited to the dance only a couple times. The first time, I got an invitation in the mail like everyone else. Only mine said I was invited to the Church for the Cermony & then after dinner for the Dance. I liked the fact I got an invitiation and it didn't offend me at all.
On the flip side, Twice I have been invited to a reception via EMAIL two weeks before the wedding. We were one of about 10 or so people cc'd on the email. Now, THIS, I found totally inappropriate and tacky.
I think if it is done properly you are ok. I like to believe that people understand how much weddings cost and that typically the people you'd invite to the reception only are not that close to begin with that they are just happy to come out for the party.
That being said, I'm struggling with this same thing for our wedding. We are not inviting ANY cousins on FI's side. However, we see my cousins fairly regularly, so we feel as though they should be invited. My Mom & Aunt keep telling me to invite them to the Church & the Dance only. That they don't need to be included in Diiner however FI has a problem with inviting people to only the Dance. I think this will end up being my call, as they are MY family. So I guess we'll wait and see how the numbers look leaving up to the invitiations!

Thanks guys.
I do intend on making up with her. I don't want to fight with her forever. However, I'm still not certain I want her in the wedding party. Even before all this happened, she has never made any sort of effort to be involved in our lives.
I talked to FI and we've agreed that maybe it would be best if she did a reading during the ceremony. That way she is still involved, and stuff, but not necessarily in the wedding party itself.

I thought it would be funny as well as a little bit of "venting" relief to start a board about dumb things people say to you when it comes to planning a wedding.
My favorites to date:
"It's not what I pictured you in"
To that I say - Look at me... Take a mental picture. There now you can picture me in it!
This was said a couple times in the dress buying process. Until I finally put on the dress I wanted, and said "I don't care what any of you think, this is the dress." Oh, how opinions quickly change! haha
Also,
"Its not your style"
What does that even mean? If I picked out something and I like it, it is therefore my style.
I am forever hearing this!
What it translates to is :"This is not MY style, so I don't think you should do it."
What are some stupid things you've heard while planning your wedding?

So, my sister and I have not been getting along for the last few months. She is younger, she had a baby at 19 and has done nothing with her life. We got into a fight a few months ago about my Nieces birthday cake. It was petty and pretty stupid, but alas, we haven't made up yet.
Since then I've gotten engaged. When I told her, she obviously couldn't give a rats [censored]. I've seen her a number of times since and she hasn't asked me about anything wedding related. I don't even know if she'd aware of when the wedding is.
I would love to have my Niece as a Flower Girl but I still haven't been able to bring myself to ask my sister. I would foot the cost of everything for my niece as I know they have no money. So I was talking to my mom yesterday about my old first communion dress, that both my sister and I wore. Its a beautiful lace dress (it would match my wedding dress perfectly). I thought if we can get it altered, my niece can wear it as her flower girl dress.
Anyway, When I was chatting with my mom, she said my sister has brought up the fact I haven't asked her to be in the wedding. I was kind of annoyed by this. How am I suppose to ask her to be in the wedding when A-We're barely talking, B-She doesn't seem to give a rats [censored] about the wedding. C-She did not even make an effort to come to my engagement party. You'd think for her to say something like that to my mother, that she'd be intersted in the wedding at hand when she has made no idication of it.
So I'm stuck, I want to be the bigger person, but I'm just so irritated and frustrated with her and I don't know if I even want her to be in the wedding. She makes no effort what-so-ever. My mom obivously would love to see us make up and do this. I just don't know.
What do you guys think?

I was at Michaels the other day and I got 120 Thank You Cards & my cake topper for $36 total including tax. SURE... My thank you cards are plain white with silver "Thank You" written on them, but I don't care! Its the message I'll right inside that matters!
Michaels ALWAYS has coupons and last week they had 50% off one reg priced item and a 15% off everything and they let me combine the two coupons for this purchase! You can go online to view their weekly flyer and print off the coupons from there.
So far I have not paid full price for anything wedding related (Aside from the Reception and Wedding Venue.)

What am I nervous about...
I'm nervous my mother will be upset that I wont pay enough attention to her. At my high school graduation, my aunt pulled me aside to take some photos and my mother got all offended. I'm worried that she will do the same at the wedding.
I'm also worried my parents will be offended that we aren't having them do speeches at the wedding. We are sticking to Wedding Party only speeches. I'm worried they would say something inappropriate.
I'm worried I'll break out as well.
I'm worried that my ever late FI will be late on our wedding day.
I'm worried that I wont get enough "alone" time with my new husband and the day will fly by and I'll regret that I didn't spend a little time with him on the actual day.
I'm worried my face will be ugly cuz I wont be able to stop crying. I know I'll be a blubbering mess, I wish I could turn that off for the day!

My boyfriend (now FI) didn't like the idea. I asked him... If I had the tattoo before we started dating, would you think any different of me? That was all it took. Obviously, he loves you, regardless of what ink is on your body. Its not as if you are getting a face tattoo.

Without sounding rude, why would you choose such a small site if your guest list is more than double? That is your first dilemna!
We made a mock guestlist first, to give us an idea of what we were looking for in terms of venues.
If you have already booked your ceremony venue, and there is nothing you can do about it now try to come up with a way to "logically" invite guests to the ceremony only and the rest to the reception.
Something like "We are doing only Family at the Ceremony and we invite all our friends to come celebrate with us at the reception." There is no easy way to do this, but if you are specific enough, people should get the idea and hopefully not be too upset.

So everything is pretty much booked for our wedding.
Our Venue has required that once we make our initial deposit and sign the contract. That we have then 30 days from signing to pay 50% of the quote. We were a bit thrown off by this. Our wedding is not until next September and yet they have asked us to pay 50% of everything.
Anyway, so last week, we finialized our menu and I picked our linens so that everything in the quote could be accurate "enough" so we could put down the additional 50%.
Right now our guest list is sitting at 147. My FIL's have an A, B & C list. So far our list only includes their A list and becuase we are hoping to keep the number under 140 we may opt out of using their B & C list.
I have purchased my Wedding Dress and Love it. It happened to be a sample that was on for 50% off and I fell in love with it! So even though I feel like my wedding is sooo far away, I bought it.
