Congrats Lili!! Looks like you had an amazing time

I'm starting to stress about our day...I'm concerned our venue is too big...like really big! After we booked our venue we decided to cut the dinner and do a cocktail reception and now about 35% of our guest list declined. We have a good sized venue and I'm totally scared now that it will be obvious that we have a huge room. The room holds about 200 people and we've got about 70

I keep trying to think of things to make it less obvious but I'm coming up with nothing...oh well, trying to not think of it and focus on the other tasks

Ok so FH and I really want to have our rehearsal dinner in a restaurant but as we're paying for it ourselves, don't want it to cost a fortune. Does anyone have recommendations for a restaurant in Victoria or Sidney that has a good group menu or affordable prices? We've got about 15 people.

Thanks

I ordered my shoes from dyeableshoestore.com and they were pretty speedy and a good price. With S&H, I found them to be the best deal online (and there isn't much selection in Victoria).
They were dyed at a local shoe repair place here and cost about $25. You can get them done through the website as well (even if you didn't buy the shoes through them), but with S&H, I'd say check out shoe repair places where you are and they can either do it or will tell you who can. My place had 100 different colours to choose from (some will do custom, others not) and the colour I chose was pretty spot on for the BM dress colour

Sorry to hear that Murdoch! I totally get where you're coming from too!
So far we've lost a groomsman (replaced him though), become estraged from FMIL and now yesterday I got an email from my day of coordinator letting me know she is refunding the deposit as she may or may not be moving before July to a different city. So now we're on the hunt for a new one, after having her booked for a year and with the majority already booked or super expensive.
Only a few more months and then happiness will hit...until then its a bit of happiness mixed in with a fair amount of stress...gah!

Hey Everyone,
My sister and her man have decided to buy a house instead of a big wedding, so now we've got the amazing Overbury Farms on Thetis Island available for Sept 9-11. This place is beautiful and I wish we didn't have everything for ours planned already or I'd switch places since it's sooo beautiful! We've known several people get married there in the last year or so and everyone has had nothing but amazing things to say about it. They take care of a great number of details so it's great with 6 months to go!
Let me know if you're interested or have any questions!!

Oh my gosh I'm starting to feel really stressed. I feel like there is still a lot to do and there isn't enough time...aahhhh!
So far I still need to:
*get deposit to florist
*meet with cake company to confirm design
*book rentals
*get invites printed
*fittings
*find wedding shoes
*figure out reception details
*book makeup
*meet with stylist for hair
*rehersal dinner
*find a ceremony musician
*book wedding night accomodations
*find jewellery for dress
ack I just feel like there is so much. Actually I think I'm panicing because I'm not at the weight I was hoping to be by this time

Oh well only so much I can do

We're doing a trip down to Vegas in April for #1 with my close girlfriends. We've been wanting to go to Vegas for a girls trip for a while, so this is the perfect opportunity.
As Vegas is more of a trip with girlfriends rather than stagette (although we will be taking full advantage :P), we're doing one in Victoria, probably early July, with more friends and family.
Aside from the fact that we're going to Vegas, I know nothing. Its fun to have it be a surprise, but I'm also a major planner and 'need' to know all the details

FH and I have decided that we want to try to find a gazebo or something similar for our outdoor wedding. I've found the one at the English Inn but don't really want to pay so much for a 20-30 minute ceremony with 20 guests

We can't be here yet. I'M NOT READY!!!
Wow so much done but so much still to do. We started off the year by changing around a fair amount of our wedding, after having it planned for a year...oh well, glad we got started when we did.
After FH's mother decided to 'accidentally' send an email to him rather than her sister trashing me, us and our relationship, we had to decide what to do. Without her coming, the majority of the family on that side is guaranteed to not come, so that left us with about me having about 20 family members there and 3-5 of his there. So as a result, we've cut our ceremony to being just intimate with about 20 close family and friends, and changed the full dinner reception to a cocktails & appies reception. I'm feeling good with the changes, despite our original plan that we had both always dreamt of.
So, now onto what we've got done:
Venues - we are considering changing our ceremony venue now that we have changed the # of people, but not too sure. At least the reception location is still good to go

Photographer
DJ
Day of Coordinator - she has been the most amazing help so far and so glad we booked her!
My dress - currently selling dress #1 and dress #2 is on its way!
STD's
My wedding band
To Do:
Cake - tastings start this month
Flowers - also starts this month
Decor
BM dresses - order. Already chosen, just confirming sizes
Flower girl dress
Accomodation for out of town guests
Invites
And many many more items. I guess I should get on this list now!

I saw in Weddingbells mag the other day that RW&Co is coming out with specific bridesmaid dress collection in Feb 2011 and I think I read that they range from $65-$90(?) for a dress. Hey Victoria Ladies
I was downtown this afternoon and popped into Sapphire Bridal on Fort St to check out a BM dress one of my girls spotted in the window and found out they are closing. This week is their final week and everything in stock is 75% off. That's including WEDDING DRESSES! They've got about 200 dresses or so, and about equal in BM dresses and about 15 flower girl dresses. They've also got a good number of veils, shoes and jewellry to choose from.
I thought I'd let you all know about it, in case you are still needing anything. Oh and I know the above post sounds kinda vendor-y but I'm not associated with them, but love good deals

thanks everyone for your input and thoughts

Definitely helped me with the thought process! After basically thinking about this 24/7 for the last week I've decided to go with my gut/heart and go for dress #2 - the fun one. Whenever I would get close to a decision with dress #1, I couldn't stop thinking about #2; and when I came close to a decision with #2, #1 didn't even pop into my head.
Thanks ladies soooooo much! Without your thoughts and opinions, it would have been more difficult (you raise very good points about how I want to feel, what is the important parts, etc) so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

I can't decide upon my dress. I have loved lace dresses for ages and found one I love. But I also want a dress that isn't so much a 'typical' wedding dress, and found one that is amazing. I love both dresses and am sooo stuck on which one I should go with. Price is the same basically so I can't even use that to sway my decision. The ceremony will be taking place on a pier (nothing fancy, just a nice long pier) with the reception at a non-descript location (I love it, but it doesn't really sway the decision).
Input is appreciated

Ok so my girls have all found a dress they all love (they could choose 3 different ones, but they all love this one) but now I can't decide about the colour.
Our wedding colours are: Teal/Ocean (primary colour), Yellow (secondary colour - flowers), with silver accents.
Sooo....do I want the girls in black dresses with teal sashes or teal dresses with silver/grey sashes? Teal is the primary colour for the wedding. I had been planning on having the girls in teal, guys in silver vests with teal ties and pocket squares (or all silver - haven't fully decided yet). I am pretty sure that I want them in the teal colour, but the black also looks nice. Acck....what do you ladies think?

Ocean Pointe is the same. Also, try Sea Cider (AMAZING!), Starling Lane Winery, Olympic View, Villa Marco Pollo (beautiful location, but you have to rent the entire place (incl. rooms) and you can't have music past 11). Oh and Laurel Point is phenominal (I wish our ceremony was there, they have the most beautiful ceremony location)

Hi Ladies,
Sorry if this is the wrong spot to post, but I can't figure where else it would be.
So I'm trying to figure out our limo for the day and I'm a bit lost as to who goes into the limo.
Here's what I've got currently:
Pre-Ceremony: Me, 3 bridesmaids, 1 photographer, 2 parents
Total = 7
Post-Ceremony (to pictures/reception: Me & Husband, 3 bridesmaids, 3 groomsmen, 2 photographers, 3 parents (mine & FH's dad)
Total = 13
I know that everything I find says to account for taking the bridal party and parents with you in the limo after the ceremony, but is this what actually happens or just the way it 'should' be?
Do people get pictures with their bridal party and family at one location, then take off for the remaining pictures in the limo? If so, how do the remaining people get to the reception?
Ohhh I could go on and on with questions but I'll leave it at that for now
