Yes, We used vendors from all 4 cities and towns.
Rings: Vandenberg Jewellers (Edmonton) 10/10
Easy and friendly to work with, no pressure and Ralf (owner) did incredible work on our custom designed rings. He has an eye for detail.
Wedding Dress: Bridal House (Edmonton) 9/10
Friendly, helpful and easy to work with. I know they have a reputation as being difficult to deal with, but that wasnt my experience. My appointments were always met on time and the alterations on my dress went smoothly.
Tuxedo: Tuxedo House (Edmonton) 10/10
Friendly, helpful, easy to work with and flexible with p/up and delivery dates for destination weddings. Our BM as got his tux from here.
Venue: Buffalo Mountain Lodge (Banff) 9/10
The food is excellent and they have a solid wine selection. We had our ceremony and reception in the Wapiti Longhouse. Beautiful rustic two level lodge with wine cellar on the main floor and reception room upstairs. The Christmas decorations were up and added a bit of magic to the room. Heather & Tanya (wedding co-ordinators) were helpful and easy to work with. They always responded to my questions via email in a timely manner. Our dinner ended up being a bit delayed (not that our guests noticed) and BML provided us a credit for this. The service we received was fantastic!
Flowers: Willow Haven (Canmore) 10/10
Leo (owner) is truly an artistic. He has the best flower selection in Banff/Canmore. He was helpful in offering suggestions to create the vision I wanted to achieve. The vision was rustic, winter, and Christmas with Chinese accents (my husband is Chinese-Canadian). He nailed it!
Cake: Cozy Cave Bake Shop (Banff) 9/10
Alannah (owner) created a stunning two tier wedding cake with the Chinese double happiness symbol and cherry blossoms. We also had 25 cupcakes which also had the double happiness symbol. The cake and cupcakes tasted wonderful; they were moist and full of flavour. Faye (Manager) always responded to my questions in a timely manner. She is super friendly and really easy going.
Minister: Reverend George Belcher ~St. Georges in the Pines; Anglican~ (Banff) 9/10
Reverend George is great! Very funny, non-judgemental and made my husband (who is a Buddhist) feel at ease. Our ceremony was short and to the point. He didnt mind travelling to Buffalo Mountain Lodge.
Photographer: John Bonner (Banff) 10,000/10 (not a mistake, 10,000 out of 10)
John is a pro! He loves photography and it clearly shows in his work. Wonderful to work with, funny, easy going and has an eye for beauty. His staff was fantastic to work with as well; they always answered question in a timely manner. We l-o-v-e John! His photography is art which turns into an heirloom.
Hair & Spa: Rapunzels (Canmore)
We all had a great time. Over a 3 day period, my husband, BM, sister, mom and I all received wonderful spa and hair services. Everything from massages, facials, body scrubs, manis and pedis to hair on the wedding day. Jenny (owner) has a great group of staff. They are very professional, fun and easy going.
Wedding Planner: Sweet Occasions Bridal Consulting (Canmore) 5/10
This is a mixed review. Angela (owner) has a great artistic eye. The extra candles she added and few small decorative touches looked fantastic. We had a very detailed wedding with a lot of extra elements. The execution of a handful of these went sides. We found there to be a lot of lip service without the experience and professionalism to back the service. We dont feel that $1,400 for day of (set up/take down) wedding coordination was worth the price.
Casino: Edge Entertainment (Calgary) 9/10
We wanted something different than the same old wedding reception. In addition to the dance, we had a fun money casino after dinner. It was a huge hit! Our guests had so much fun playing blackjack, poker and (I think) roulette. Deano (owner) and his staff were great fun, professional and took the time to teach our guests how to play each game (if instruction was needed). His team arrived on time (drove from Calgary) and set up quickly. Our guests raved about how much fun they had. It worked out really well; the guests that wanted to dance did so and guests who wanted to play their hand at the casino did so. At the end of the evening our guests could exchange the fun money for raffle tickets. The prize was 3 silver seats to an Oilers game. My one complaint was that only one of the five staff members were dressed in the proper attire (as I was told they would all be dressed). The rest were dressed very casually. This probably only mattered to me.
Crossfit: Spark Sport Conditioning (Edmonton) 10/10
If anyone you have heard of Crossfit, you know how absolutely gruelling of a workout it can be. If you havent, its a combination of Olympic weight lifting with gymnastics. Then add in lateral movement, hand and foot coordination and polymetrics. Kim (owner) runs a great training facility. His coaches/trainers (Jonny, Kam & Jenny) are the greatest at motivation and encouragement. My goal was to get rid of my Oprah arms in time for the wedding. Well I did that plus more. I went from being a size 6 to being a size 4 (pants) and 2 (dress) in 3 months. Hence all the dress alterations!

The trouble with asking this question is that you're going to recieve answers on both ends of the spectrum. There is always someone who paid more, therefore you are getting a good deal, and always someone who spent less which can make you feel as though you are being ripped off. If the price is in your budget and your comfortable with the bakery and such... then that is all that matters!

Perhaps I'm old school... I don't know how you can have wedding and invite only a select few kids. To me it's an all or nothing deal. DW or not. You may lose out on guests who don't want to leave their kids for a week. If you're okay with this, then I suppose it becomes a mute point.

This is what I would do. If he's already proposed, I wouldn't worry about the ring. I'm sure your parents will be thrilled to know that it's really important to you that
they're there.
I agree. It's your parents they will be there no matter what.

I think it's funny that so many people talk about bridezilla's when other people pull crap like this around weddings.
I hope they back off, make it to your wedding, and don't give you any more grief!
I agree! I'm going through a similar situation with my family. My FH and I are looking forward to the end of all this so we can continue to focus on our own little family unit!

So this a little late... I had an awesome expierence at the Bridal House. I don't understand all the negativity associated with the shop! They were friendly, professional, helpful and pressure free. I just had my first fitting last night which went totally smoothly. Not much to alter, and the seamstress offer to do some small stuff with charging me.

I disagree with all the nay sayers of the ipod. We plan to use an ipod. The music was selected and organized by a work associate (who DJ's part-time). We gave him our selection of 30 songs we like along with the top songs played at weddings. He added hmmm maybe 10. Our venue has the sound station tucked away in the reception room. We are not concerned over kids fooling around with the music. Our nieces and nephews don't act like that.
We chose an ipod instead of a DJ because we're having a casino & dance for our reception. There wasn't room for both. I'm not saying that it doesn't take time to select and organize music, but, if you have the time and play by the rules you can easily save yourself hundreds of dollars!

We had our engagement photos with John Bonner. So much fun. He's a pro! I can't wait to see how our photos turned out.
We have decided on Willow as our florist. Leo is great and I liked his ideas on how to tie our theme together. We have chosen Cozy Cave Bake Shop for our cake and mini cupcakes! Faye and Allana are up to the challenge of our cake. We have also hired Angela Schremp from Sweet Occasions as our wedding planner for the day of. We have so many extra little things going on that it only made sense to hire her.
Yay!

Wedding Pic's? Okay I'm new at this "blogging" how can I see your wedding pic's of BML?
We just hired Angela Schremp as our wedding planner for the day of. I have heard how busy BML gets with weddings. The last thing I want to do is be micromanging people via text in an attempt to ensure the day runs smoothly.
I am leaning to Alana from Cozy Cave. Customer service is very important to me. Great customer service builds trust and so far I trust what Alana and Faye are saying.
I realize wedding season is busy busy busy. That being said, a potential vendor can tell me this politely rather than say "take a number". I've encountered this a few times and perhaps it's to be expected getting married in Banff.... it doesn't mean I'm giving you my business.
Wow! I didn't realize I needed to vent this morning!

Jackie was originally recommend to me as well. We talked in March (which was too early for her to book) and asked that I call back in May/June. I called; she didn't return my phone message. Guess it wasn't meant to be. I've decided to go with Rapunzel's in Canmore. My wedding planner gets her hair done there and she looks great! Where is your wedding taking place?
My wedding which has been 12 months in the making is going to be at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. So far I am very happy with the service we've received. Last year we tried to book at a few Fairmont properties. We were told that our guest count was too small for them to offer us a Saturday. They could make more revenue off a corporate christmas party and suggested we get married on Friday, Sunday or Monday. Those days of the week work well for some people, but not us. Plus we were instantly turn off by the attitude of Fairmont. We chose John Bonner as our phototgrapher. One of his staff suggested BML and the rest fell into place.
AlmostMrsCook - Thanks for the Clipso recomendation.

You made a difficult decision. Good for you! My brother is similar. Constantly complaining about what we're doing for our wedding. He has no problem spending $1,500 on his buddie's stag in vegas, but squaks about paying $180 per night for a room in Banff! He's deducting off our gift!

You're not alone. I am just begining to deal with this type of uncalled for "drama". What I find most frustrating is why these individuals say yes. I would have prefered my sister tell me she didn't have the time. In the 12 months my finace and I have been planning our wedding, she has been given 4 duties. The 5th is planning the shower.Grumble Grumble Grumble!
I vent to my fiance and bff (who I would have prefer be MOH but she just had a babes and couldn't give the time needed). They have been great support for the family drama!
