Hi everyone. I haven't posted in awhile as I find it hard to keep up with shout outs.
mommyto1bearcub - that's awesome that you got a positive OPK! I know what you mean about needing a bit of a break when it comes to BDing.
Shaunagirl - Huge Congrats! That's amazing that you got your BFP so soon! When is your due date?
Heregoes - Wow! Hope everything goes ok with your ultrasound and there's no damage. I've been dealing with an ovarian cyst and further testing to see when I can begin ttcing again so I can relate to what you're going through.
AFM I got the go from my doctor to begin ttcing again as the 2 very large cysts that I had resolved themselves and I just have one small one left. My obgyn still thinks there's a possibility that the pregnancy I miscarried was an ectopic so when I get pregnant again I will need to go for early ultrasounds to make sure everything is ok.
We started trying again this cycle as right after I got the green light from my doctor I ovulated. This is my first cycle post miscarriage. I will test on Friday which will be 8 dpo as I got a + at 7dpo this last time.
Here's my updated info
06242006
Children: 1 DS age 2.5
Cycles of TTC: 5 with 1 miscarriage
Plan of Attack: EPO, CBFM, Fetilitea, pre-seed

Mommyto1bearcub I'm sorry that you are going to miscarry. I suffered a miscarriage last month at 5 weeks and was also expecting it due to dropping betas.
Phuncheez I too am waiting for AF after my miscarriage. I am on cycle day 29 and I O'd on day 20. I'm ok waiting for a her to come though since I need to make sure my cyst is gone before I can ttc again and I won't know until the 16th. I hope that I O after that and that I'm all good to go.

We started our transition yesterday as DS climbed out of his crib. Last night was super rough as it took him 4 hours to finally fall asleep and only because I sat in his room until he did. He's been down for an hour now and is still playing happily away. Good luck and hopefully it goes better for you!

Hi guys,
Can I be re-added? I got my BFP on November 30th but it ended in a miscarriage unfortunately. It was also discovered that I have a large ovarian cyst on my right side. I had one there 5 years ago and had it surgically removed along with the ovary. Apparently a couple of cells may have been left behind and that is why it's back.
I go for an ultrasound on January 16th and then see the obgyn on the 23rd to see if it's gone or at least shrunk and if it hasn't then I'll have to have it removed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it goes away because I definitely do not want to have surgery and do not want to wait to TTC again. The obgyn advised against getting pregnant until this is taken care of. I"m really bummed about it.
Anyways I miscarried 2.5 weeks ago so we'll see when AF makes her appearance.
Here's my info

Grr I'm getting so frustrated. I'm using a CBFM and for the last 2 months I have been only getting 1 hight then straight to peak so this will be the 2nd month in a row that we're only getting 2 days of bding in during my fertile phase. For whatever reason my O day has changed from day 19/20 to day 13/14. I hope this is the month, but not holding out much hope. Aneways either today or tomorrow is my O day.

Hi everyone,
Can I join the group? I'm 3 dpo. I've been using the clear blue fertility monitor and only got one high reading this month and then it went straight to peak so we only got 2 days of BD in. This is our third cycle trying so I'm hoping this is the one. It took 3 cycle with DS. I plan on testing November 6th.
Here's my info:

No, I don't think you can insert a test without the monitor asking for it. That's weird that it hasn't asked for a test yet. This is my 2nd month using the monitor and the first month it started asking me at day 6. They do have a helpline I believe. I think I called it when I used the monitor for my first pregnancy. Maybe give them a call and see what is up.

I took a year and 3 months off and just recently returned to work less than 2 weeks ago. Honestly so far I'm loving it. As much as I love being with my DS I did not love being a stay at home mom. I often felt bored and really missed working. Financially we could make it work if I was to stay home, but it would be a stretch.
We did do a lot of activities and still can do the same sorts of things, but they are now done on the weekends. Life is much busier, but I feel a lot happier. I think one of the other main things for me is that I really like my job. If I didn't like what I do than I likely would feel much different. Also in regards to daycare I have noticed a huge growth in my son's development since he's been going. He has tons of fun and is learning lots.

I believe that the minimum at that age is about 18 oz. My LO was taking 3 bottles at that age and still is (morning, before afternoon nap and before bed). His morning bottle was 8 oz and the other 2 were 6 oz, but most days he would not finish all of his bottles so rarely was he getting the full 18 oz. I added in formula and milk in his cereal to try to make up for it. My doctor wasn't ever concerned since he eats a pretty well balanced diet.

We just had our first birthday party this past weekend. I think its a good idea not to do anything too big. We had over 50 people and I didn't get to sit down once let alone spend anytime with my LO. As for keeping the kids occupied I put out our sand and water table (with only water in it). This kept the younger kids (ages 1 to 3) occupied for almost the whole party. They loved it! It wasn't warm enough for us to put out our pool and stuff, but if it is for you than I think that's a great idea. The older kids were kept occupied with a ball, frisbee and they ended up making water balloons. Honestly I didn't have much out, but the kids kept themselves occupied the whole time just playing with each other.

We just recently installed our Britax Boulevard and I totally know what you are talking about. I cannot pull the straps as tight as I would like them and with mine too it seems to hit the same point where it won't go any further and does the same popping type thing. I now tighten it by doing doing a few short tugs if that makes sense and this seems to do the trick, but I'm still not 100% sure so I think I'll be going to a clinic too.

My little guy is fairly small too so my doctor suggested that I offer solids before his bottle as she felt he was taking too much formula. This has really worked for us as DS gained over a pound in less than a month! I used to offer 4 bottles a day before solids offering him solids but found that he wasn't finishing the bottles so I switched to 3 bottles a day and he finishes his bottle every time now.
Our feeding schedule looks something like this
between 8 and 8:30 wake up 8 oz bottle then about a half an hour later or so he will have solids usually stuff like cereal and fruit, fruit and yogurt or toast with apple sauce on it and scrambled eggs
He eats lunch after his morning nap usually around 12 and will eat stuff like hummus and pita, toast and eggs, fruit and yogurt, veggies, meat, grilled cheese, pasta
He has his 2nd bottle of the day before his 2nd nap (usually around 2:30ish or so ) and this is a 6 oz bottle
When he wakes up from his nap I give him a snack like a banana, cheerios, yogurt, cheese
Dinner is around 5:30 or so and he'll usually have what were having or some sort of protein, vegetable and grain then after maybe some fruit
His last bottle of the day is around 8pm just before bed
I offer him as much solids as he will eat.

My LO's weight has also been concerning me lately. About a month ago he was between the 5th and 10th percentile. We were recently referred to a pediatrician. Both my family doctor and the pediatrician also recommended offering solids before the bottle. My doctor felt that I was feeding him too much formula and not enough solids. Up until a few weeks ago he was having 4 6 ounce bottles a day.
We do 3 meals a day with some snacks here and there and he has 3 bottles a day. He has one bottle in the morning, then another around 2 or so then one before bed. He consumes about 20 oz of formula a day. This has definitley made a difference in weight gain. He has gained a pound in just under a month which is alot at this age.
I make sure that he has at least 18 oz of formula a day and if he doesn't then I offer an extra bottle or put some in his cereal. I also feed him high fat yogurt and cheese as well as lots of avocado.

I have been a foster parent on and off for about 4 years. I'm also a child protection social worker. We only take in younger children.
For me the hardest thing about fostering is having kids in my home for a long time and then having to let them go. I knew going into it that the kids (in most cases) would be going back to their parents, but I never imagined it would be so hard on me. This happened with my very first placement. I had 2 little girls (6 and 1) for almost a year and I was devastated when they went back home. I cried for months. The good thing is is that we were able to maintain a relationship with them and we have them over still every once in awhile.
Another con is taking in a child(ren) that have behaviours that are more difficult than expected. Alot of times when kids come into care we don't know a lot about their behaviours because often in removals we go in that day and sometimes haven't even met the kids before. A foster parent may agree to take in a child(ren) and then find out that they do not have enough experience to deal with the needs and behaviours of these children. For me when I'm called and asked to take in a child I have a really hard time saying no, but I think that it is so important to say no if you feel it is a situation that may be too difficult for you to handle.
You have to be willing to accommodate visits with the parents and meetings with social workers, teachers, and other professionals. If you have more than one foster child in your home at times it may seem overwhelming.
In BC if you need daycare for the foster children we cover the cost of it. As for the medical aspect I had to have my doctor fill out a form. From what I remember it just asked if there were any medical concerns that would impact me being a foster parent. In the past I have taken an anti depressant and my doctor put that down.
I don't feel that foster parenting has really impacted any of my relationships in a negative way. My DH and I became foster parents before we had our own children and we were quite young at the time. We both absolutley love fostering and hope to continue for a long time. It can be very challenging, but so worth it!

I know it may seem frustrating, but honestly I wish my ILs loved DS as much as yours seem to love your little guy. Asking them to babysit is seriously like pulling teeth. My MIL lives about 15-20 minutes from us and she sees DS maybe once a month or so. There have been times where we have gone over there and she hasn't even held him! I would love DS to grow up being close to his grandparents because I wasn't with mine.
Just try to remember that your ILs obviously love your little guy alot and he'll grow up knowing that he has alot of people in his life who really love him. I think it's really cute that they are so excited to have him overnight.

My DS was born at 6 lbs even. He was 5 lbs 11 oz when we left the hospital. At 3 months he weighed 10 pounds and was 24 inches long. At 4 months he was 12 lbs 3 oz. I'm not sure how long he was but at 5 months he was 26.5 inches. I just had him weighed today and he is 15 lbs 11 oz and 27.5 inches. He has been a bit slower to gain weight and we actually have an appointment with a pediatrician next month.
He will be 7 months on Friday and the size of clothes he wears depends on where I have bought them, but basically he fits into anything from a 3 month to a 9-12 month. He just started sleeping through the night a full 12 hours about a month ago.
It sounds like your LO is doing really well for weight gain!

We just stopped swaddling on Saturday night and instead bought a gro bag to use. DS was up a few times that night (usually he is up just one) but when he finally fell asleep for good he slept for 7 hours straight which is very rare. Then last night he slept for 12.5 hours straight which he has never done. I was really worried about how this would affect his sleep, but I think that now that he can get his thumb in his mouth when he wakes up he is self soothing.

I had a cyst on my right ovary removed about 2.5 years ago. The cyst turned out to be so large that they had to remove my whole ovary. It was the same thing with me where I was having the pain for a few months and finally one day decided to go to the walk in clinic. I was referred to a gynecologist who gave me the option of haivng it removed. I really didn't think twice about my decision, but afterwards when I started thinking about having children I wondered if it would affect me being able to conceive. Thankfully it didn't.
My doctor said that it really didn't matter if I didn't have it removed. He said it may just be really painful at times. I chose to have it removed because I didn't want to be in pain on my wedding day which was a few months after my surgery.

I am really surprised at some of these answers. I'm not sure what the law is in other provinces, but in BC it is mandatory for rear facing until at least 1 years old. It is highly recommended to keep them rear faced until they are between 16 and 18 months old.
As it has been stated if there feet touch the back of the seat or if they hang over that is fine. When it comes to height it is the distance of their heads to the top of the seat. Which is the same thing with the infant bucket seats.

I had this same problem when I was just in Europe. I bought an a voltage converter for my straightner, but when I uesed it my straightner did not get hot or really even warm so it was totally useless. I ended up having to use my mom's which is dual voltage. The converter was around $40 or so and then you still had to have an adapter on top of that for the other things that didn't need to be converted. I was told by many people that straightners often have problems and that it is just easier to buy a dual voltage one or one that is 220V and take it with you.
If you decide to try it I bought mine from Circuit City and the guys there were really helpful. Just make sure you also check your watts too as that also determines which one you can get.

My husband is a dispatcher/office manager for a large trucking companay. He makes $55 000 a year plus he gets a company truck of his own so he does not pay insurance or gas.
