Kids can go days and days without eating and not have a problem. They'll make up for it in the coming months. It's the drinking you need to be concerned about.
I'd follow her lead with eating and just ensure what you do offer is healthy - fruits and veggies, hopefully to get 'things' moving. It is odd that she only throws up when going to bed, but I wouldn't be toooo worried. Poor kid. Apple juice always helps my kids get to the bathroom.
Hope she feels better.

I want to write a letter to our school principal regarding my DD"s Kindergarten teacher for the past 2 years. She's been just amazing and I want to write a nice letter to the Principal to let them know.
Does anyone have any tips or any advice on how this should be done? Is it something that will be kept on the teacher's file. Has anyone ever done this and would like to share what sort of things they included in the letter. Thanks! Or maybe there's a teacher here that could tell me the best way to go about it.

I would go with the house. The gap pump alone adds for more imaginative play which goes a long way with my kids. They'd be playing family, drive thru, and so much more. My kids like princesses and play with castles but I think the big castle idea might be lost of them.
Looks fun!!!

My kids like all the popular stuff - much of what has been listed. I have the Barenaked Ladies on their MP3 and IPods players - the Snack Time album - they don't love it but do listen to it. It's about the only age appropriate stuff they listen to. They mostly like Beyonce.

You could also try some Taylor Swift, Hannah Montana, The Biebs

Oh lord. I'd hit the roof. I'd let the preschool no under no circumstances to 'make' your DD eat or drink anything. Causing anxiety over milk may be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.
I don't want my kids drinking milk, never mind being FORCED. Ugh, what a bad experience for your poor DD.
Where the HECK are the ECEs being trained and mandated to ensure every child drinks a certain about of milk.

I think if you try and put yourself in the other parents' shoes and think if this happened to your child and perhaps it happened again, what would you tell your child about the inapporpriateness of it. I am teaching my DD that inappropriate touching is never ok. If something like this happened I would want to feel confident it was handled so it never happened again. If it did happen again, how could I go to work everyday and ensure that my child feels safe.
I realise you are sure that it's not sexual and I wouldn't even teach my child that it was sexual, I would teach her that it's 100% inappropriate. I think I would expect the daycare to take ANY steps necessary to ensure it didn't happen again. Your DS clearly is looking for attention. At 4 he should be capable of knowing right from wrong and not acting on such an impulse.
I think you need to take your defensiveness out of the equation. Put your feelings of being attacked aside and do whatever is necessary for your DS to fit into this class and this after school program. I agree with the others that if I found myself in this situation I would be seeking a lot of outside, professional help.

I think I'd just ensure you're using a reputable place AND an experienced tech. There was an expose on laser hair removal this weekend on 20/20. They were showing just how easy it is to earn your laser hair removal cert and how the use of the machines (stregnths, rentals) isn't regulated. There ae often burns with lasting scars by inexperienced technicians.
Good luck, I hope it all works out.

Mme, I don't have cold hard fact but from what I understand your saliva does break down the PB if you haven't brushed. My DH is allergic to several nuts and I have given him a reaction from kissing him but not since being aware that I did. I don't completely avoid the foods as long as there's been time for my mouth to break it down.
I think for kids, I'd avoid the food all together. I've actually seen, myself, 3 instances of someone having a reaction to food off of someone else after they're eaten it. You could always ask to see if you need to or not.
My GF's little girl was just diagnosed with a severe penaut allergy and her DCP are always scooping up kids as they walk in to ensure they're cleaned up after breakfast. I guess the DCP aren't really allowed to tell the parents not to feed their kids PB at home or tell them they're not doing a great job cleaning up their kid so they give them a soapy scrub down on the way in the door.

I think your DS was just stating a fact. He, likely, has no idea that what he said would be so hurtful or why. Sure, there are different types of families and he was just pointing that out. He felt protective over his Dad.
I'd explain why what he said made his friend cry and talk about feelings and how he hurt his feelings. You could also tell him his friend likes to call his (your DS) Daddy 'Daddy' because it's just like him (your DS) but we all know it's not his Daddy.
You'll have to find a way to explain it in his terms so he can understand a bit better. Good luck. I'm sure you felt horrible, I would have too, but your DS wasn't being mean. He was being defensive of his Daddy.

I've been talking to my ODD about it consistently now for about a year. She just turned 5. It wasn't something I've made a big deal about and didn't use any resources other than just our talks.
I've told her what stranger means, when it's appropriate to talk to strangers and some strangers can even be nice! I give examples of when we do talk to strangers. People we meet at a play group or gymnastics are all strangers at first. The girls are always saying 'Hi' to strangers at the grocery store etc but I also go over scenarios where you'd NEVER listen to or do what a stranger says.
I've explained in detail what 'an adult you trust' means. I always give examples of who is in charge when she goes out. Eg Grandma, Auntie, Mom, Dad and that she's never to do anything with anyone other than who she's with and 'in charge'. I've also practised her loud voice with her and what she would say if she ever needed help. She's a quiet little mouse sometimes so it's a concern I've had about her understanding how she she has to be really loud to get people's attention.
I've always followed her lead with the conversation. It's often just a few min long and she'll follow up a few days later with questions. I've given the candy and puppy scenarios so she likes to think up scenarios of her own eg. Kitten, ballons, beautiful hair clips (lol). So I keep it simple and at her level.
I find my ODD to be a pretty straight foward kid. She's been able to handle a lot of stuff that I otherwise thought would be too much for her. We've had a lot of death in our family this year and she's been very mature and insightful with her understanding and questioning. The same applies to pretty much everything.
I'd suggest starting with simple definitions. Ask her what she knows about strangers already - she's likely heard about it somewhere!

I need some school snack ideas please. Here's my criteria:
- has to be quick. DD is slow and only gets 5 min
- has to have a protein component
- I don't pack veggies for school because she's so slow with them that she'd never be able to eat them in time and feel full
Here is what I pack now and she says she's getting bored
- muffins (whole grains, vegetables and a bit of protein)
- home made granola
- cereal snack mix (shreddies, cheerios, and craisins)
- cut up fruit
Any other ideas for me?
Thanks

I had also said when my kids ask. ODD started asking at 3 yrs old. I told her that it really, really hurt. For awhile that made her change her mind. Eventually at about 4 she said she didn't care if it hurt. Then just before 4.5 (Mayish) she was asking even more, begging, and still said she didn't care if it hurt. We told her that she could get them done at the end of that summer ( we didn't want her getting them done right before we'd be swimming in the lake all summer long). So in Sept, just before starting SK and 4 months before turning 5 she got them done.

I'd be fine with nail polish and sitckers and my DD would be absolutely in love with it.
For them to wait their turn, I'd sit them all down in a row. Paine one hand of each at a time. That'll keep their attention.
It's also really cool to paint each nail a different colour, but matching on the other hand. So 5 colours. Then you'd paint 2 nails on each girl and move on until the colours are done. Just so you know what's cool.
Suri paints her nails like this, but my DD did it first. Also, just so you know.

I don't feel we go without. BUT I'll tell you the differences I see between us and others:
- we don't go on many vacations (if at all). This is a lot by choice as we own a cottage and choose to put our vacations funds to that cause
- our house is in major need of updating. If we were to do this the money would have to come from elsewhere but I'm so not good with that stuff so at this point it looks like we're moving and then we'll have a much bigger mortgage (our mortgage is just about paid off at this point). And that will sting. To almost have no mortgage to having a big one. But it will save on me figuring out how to do some renovating around here.
- off your list we're missing babysitting. We've never paid for babysitting.
- I am the housekeeper, but that's by choice. And DH does all handy work.
I splurge, I buy everything I want - my wants are different than some, though? I don't need work clothes, for example..

My DH takes off the trim for us to paint then puts it back on with his pneumatic nail gun. So much easier to paint that way (both the trim and the walls).

Jewellery making is a good idea. Rainbow beads? You could do a salon? My DD went to a rock star party and they did a salon sort of idea for that. They painted nails and sprayed their hair with the colour spray. My DD was SO excited about the hair colour. My DD also keeps telling her friends they're coming over for make overs from her Mom. Right. But they all seems very excited about it.

When I was in grade 1 a boy threw a tantrum. When he was done our teacher had a bloody nose, our classroom was upside down and 3 children (including myself) were sent home with bite marks and hair ripped out. The police couldn't have gotten there quick enough. The damagwe was done but it certainly would have helped to have him restrained. That was the last time I saw that kid.
