Good timing - my niece is coming over tomorrow night, so I can give them to her before I forget - really? That's SO 1989 (and I have the picture proof from 1989!).
If I want to wear a bird in my hair, I'll put my Caique, Cockatil, or African Grey on top of my head.
The rest of the goodies, however, I will use.

Labour Day, sure. Easter, sure...But, It's St. Patrick's Day....it's a pub...it's one of the busiest pub days of the year...
I understand why the business wouldn't say yes for sure, or reserve the whole pub for her. It's like wanting to rent a pub downtown Ottawa on Canada Day for a wedding reception - a wedding won't come close to the revenue as pub hopping Irish & non-Irish customer.
Maybe if the wedding reception had less than a dozen people - then it would be feasible to want to go to a pub (again, not able to reserve - busiest day of the year)...
That's just my logical opinion...

Hmmm...I'm wondering if the heater is irritating his skin?
Maybe make a small investment in a humidifier for the area he's in - it will basically help his skin, especially if he's not showering often.
I concur - sounds like he's loving your dd, and she's learning to respect him, so I wouldn't be concerned about that.
And yes, AA is marvelous - a lot have and are dealing with barbering there.
We've had difficulties finding an avian vet in Ottawa - I really miss Dr V (we also had Dr. White as his back up at the time) - they know their avians!

I would bring the older dog to see the puppies to see how they react.
When we brought Gideon (1.5 years old at the time) over to meet Fynn & Batz (his brother), Fynn chose Gideon - the other pup growled & barked at Gideon. Gideon was part of the decision - he seemed quite happy to have another Ridgeback the play with - they're best of buds

Mind you, my parents brought home a Schipperkeye pup without prior meeting their older one (14 at the time) years ago, and the puppy just stressed out Jet. He was put down 3 months later as our other dog (Sheltie, 12 years old) was put down 3 days prior & Jet just gave up.
DH and I are planning on introducing a new pup to our family when Gideon hits about 7 or 8 - young enough to endure a prancing puppy. any older wouldn't be fair to Giddy.

I know with both companies I've worked with - the Rely contractors (companies recommended to use by the insurance company) will come back until the repairs are completed to your satisfaction - based on where you live, there should be a couple of options for preferred vendors. The repairs are usually guaranteed for a period of time.
Talk to you-know-who as well, as she's now in property claims & will have a better idea of what advice to offer
So sad when I saw your old ghetto floors were appearing after tear-out!
As you two are handy, however, you can always do the work yourselves again, and shop around for the best prices on flooring so you may be able to get a bit of savings.
When you cash out for repairs, they take a % off their estimate (i.e. 20%), and generally the insurance company will follow up in a reasonable period of time for proof of repairs via photographs or invoices/receipts - they want to ensure that your home has been put back into order. This isi important if *knock on wood* a similar loss happens again in the future - for you to be fully covered.

It really is - was there any major (or even little) change in the area his cage is in or within the household?
As well, it is full hormone season right now - plucking tends to be rather prolific now and in the fall.
But that's not really helpful.
Could it be allergies? Some parrots are really sensitive to metals like Nickel (i.e. nickel plated wire or quick links), and Zinc can be toxic - both of these can be instigators of plucking. Does his cage have any rust on it? Does he gnaw at the bars?
Has his diet changed? Is there something new or has his food company changed their formula lately? I know Flax seed, for one, is great to add on top of his normal pellets - good for the skin.
Is the air in your home dry? A dehumidifier may help if it is - and definitely make sure he has daily showers - I haven't met an Amazon who hasn't enjoyed singing in the shower
I notice in your avatar that you have a toddler - did his routine change drastically within your family when she was born, or now that she's walking? Is he getting less attention? Same amount of attention? I know it can be a juggling act when adding a new family member - and this may also be a trigger.
Basically you want to find the trigger and stop the behaviour before it becomes a habit - the above tend to be biggies.
I did live in the GTA for 11 years, and the ONLY vet I would recommend is Dr. Valsamis at the Britannia Animal Hospital off Britannia/9th line in Mississauga:
http://www.britanniaanimalhospital.com We used to bring all of our parrots and exotics to this animal hospital, and Dr. V performed miracles on a regular basis - I so miss having the opportunity to bring our trio there. I did bring Merlin to him once when Merlin was having a rough time when his hormones kicked in - with one session we were able to curb Merlin's issues and haven't had any problems with him since then.
If you do opt for at least a behaviour assessment, if Dr. V can't fix the trigger, there's also Dr. Taylor at the Guelph University - Dr. V should do though

The session should be under $100, and just try an assessment before having bloodwork and all that fun stuff if you're concerned about the $$ (bloodwork, exam, assessment would probably run you about $300?) - they're all about offering the least evasive options.
I'll also PM you a great website where the parrot folk will also be able to offer first hand experiences and advice - honestly the best parrot site out there (not sure if I can post it here)...

Generally we do it when the dogs are in calm mode. Obviously, you should be calm too

Either myself or DH will hold the pup and pet them, the other person will clip the nails one paw at a time.
If you want to give treats during the clipping to make it a positive experience, you and your pup will probably deal with it a lot better

Just do the tips, and you should be fine - do have Quick Stop on hand in case you do cut the quick.

I only started wearing bikinis in my mid twenties...I haven't bought a 1-piece since then.
My torso is long in comparison to what suits fit my body, so once I found a few bikinis that were flattering, I was stuck.
Right now I generally wear the swim shorts (they're great, as they dry out quick & you can wear them after swimming too without changing), and bikini top. I got those for down south.

DH and I were looking into booking a ski vacation out West (for next ski season), and the prices are ridiculous. The lower we could find, including flying from Ottawa (flight is going to be about $1100), is on average $2500 - this is ridiculous for 4 or 5 days of skiing! We do expect to pay extra for food (therefore a fridge and hot plate/stove would be wonderful, but not necessary), and think the Banff/Lake Louise trio of hills would be great (ski a different hill each day). But this blows 2 years of vacation funds in one go.
Are there any secret websites that we should be tuning into to look for super deals? We don't want the Ritz, and expect basic amenities for the amount we want to pay...
Any ideas??

A trainer doesn't cost a lot for ONE session - Fynn had a 2 hours session for $140 - money WELL spent and has halted a lot of his "rescue puppy" anxieties and behaviours when we moved back to the city & needed to address his issues (other dog aggression, fear of new things, barking at runners/anything moving while on walks, etc.). With a few simple changes and US, the humans, being trained, we are all happier with minimal anxiety now.
We may go back for more sessions (at a cheaper cost, as the initial assessment allowed the trainer insight), but for now we're working with what we've learnt so far.
And yup - if we don't walk him for a day, his spring is in full force the next day - and Ridgebacks aren't near the size of Pyrs.
I think if both of these actions are taken, your family will thrive.
I don't believe in giving up until you've exchausted your options.
You can let him be someone else's "problem" - but someone else may not be able to handle it either, until he gets passed from home to home & eventually bites someone who has him put down.
If the lessons fail, and all options have been exhausted, another reassessment of your situation should be taken.

A personal trainer for one session turned Fynn around about 145 degrees - he'll never be perfect, but just from the trainer watching him and us for almost 2 hours in one session, it literally worked some miracles.
