Figure out why you are eating the chocolate, taste, boredom, stress, emotions etc. Then, get yourself something you wouldn't normally buy that you love, a fruit tray and dip, a huge delicious salad, nuts, cheese and crackers. Something that has some nutritional value. Also, I try to focus on something else other than the chocolate. Go for a walk, read a book, nap.

I know the manager will ask, but I don't want to say because I know it will spread quickly and my coworker will gossip and want to call my new manager directly and likely reem her out for "taking me away". It's not a competitor, but it is someone we do business with.
What do you think?

I said it's a possibility right now because nothing has changed, nothing has been done(didn't want to tell her about possible new job). Then she accused me of following my coworker and she thinks we have a conspiracy going and that my new coworker is going to hire me and steal me. My new possible job couldn't be more opposite! She said she's counteroffer me and let me work from home. NO! I am so pissed after that call, I am boiling.

Thank you for the support. Honestly you told me what I need to hear. This workplace has been horrible, I've been bullied and I've lost my confidence. I guess you could say I am loyal to a fault and am possibly suffering from Stockholm Syndrome (lol).
The possibility of me quitting has just increased. I'm now negotiating salary and providing references to my new possible employer/HR. Although it's not a competitor, we do work with them. The Bully is NOT going to be happy as she is going to be left on her own to do our department's work. Management has chosen to do nothing about her behavior and everyone is leaving. She has a reputation in the industry, which my new employer is aware of.

There is a strong possibility that I could end up quitting my job in the next week and moving on. The kicker is, my coworker quit and beat me to the punch. Both of us leaving the company at the same time or even within 3 months of each other will be...dare I be a bit dramatic, catastrophic for business.
What the heck am I going to do now? I've been waiting patiently for this day for 2 years and now that it's coming up I feel guilty and I am actually scared of what may happen in terms of a reaction from my coworkers and manager. In essence, I would be royally screwing them over. Not my intention at all! How do I convince myself I'm doing the right thing. This place has been terrible to work at!

Thank you for the advice. It was enough for me to muster up the courage to say I wasn't available which is true because I just realized that it's FIL's birthday that day and DH mentioned hosting a family dinner.
She specifically likes me to do these shows because I have sales experience, gift for the gab with strangers and I come across as confident and I know her business and products inside and out. So she gets a lot of value-add by having me help her vs. say her DH or another friend. I also know she suffers from severe confidence issues and almost "needs" me to be there as she can't stand to face the competitors, who I chat to and have friendly relationships with.
I just can't do it all of the time. I do wish her well and hope she is successful though. Her and I were discussing a volunteer type position within her company for me to gain some experience for my own career but it wouldn't include working events.

About two years ago my friend decided not to return from mat leave and instead open her own business with goods and services. I have supported her fully over the past two years through buying, referring, helping her with marketing, advertising and even attending trade shows. She always asks me to help her: come help set up for a presentation, assist a trade show but never offers any payment or anything in return. It's been bothering for a while now, but I don't feel comfortable discussing money or demanding something in return so I've ended up in this situation.
Now she has a trade show coming up on the weekend of my birthday. She just asked me if I could help, but didn't offer anything for my help. I love to see her succeed, I'm not jealous but I'm a little tiffed that my time I put into her business is almost expected and not rewarded. I'm starting to feel that everytime I talk to her she wans something from me, she may be desperate for help and doesn't realize this. She can't really afford yet to hire a staff memeber. wwyd?

I made a new friend at work (yippee!) and she has invited me to come over to her house for the first time to meet her friend from Vancouver and some other friends while attending a shopping party. I said I would more than likely attend however the date she selected is the same night as my family get to together. Nothing was set with my family until yesterday and I could probably swing both events. As it's next weekend, I just realized that I have no business shopping right now and spending money isn't really an option with our current budget. She said no one should feel obligated to buy, however I would feel bad not attending or not buying something when I was really excited to hear about it in the first place. What would you do? Right now I'm leaning more towards showing up and purchasing a small item, which will still cost around $50. I've been focusing on paying down my credit card and that $50 would really help. Any advice?
