Thanks!!

I don't see a problem with calling him by his middle name. If you had to fill out any paperwork for him before you left the hospital (eg. vital statistics for the gov't) it will likely cost some time and money to get his name legally changed.

I read the book and listened to the CD in the weeks leading up to my due date. While I was in labour, I used the breathing and meditation/relaxation techniques and I definitely think that it helped me achieve my goal of a drug-free delivery. It definitely wasn't pain-free, but without those breathing techniques and visualization I don't think I would have made it through transition without pain meds.
I should add that I didn't use the breathing techniques during the pushing phase. I tried "breathing the baby out" and it just wasn't working for me. I pushed instinctively though and didn't have anyone counting for me.

I forgot to put DD's on for a few nights earlier this week and she slept terribly - I'm talking I'm out of bed every 10 minutes for up to 2 hours at a time trying to get her back to sleep. The next night I remembered to put it on for nighttime and she slept much better, so right now, it's working for us. Hers is light amber and she wears it on her ankle for sleep.

We have the Angelcare with the sensor pad. We've only used the audio function so far as DD has been sleeping in a pack 'n play in our room, but we're moving her to her crib for naps this week and soon for nighttime sleeps, so we'll be using the sensor pad soon.
We also have the Vtech Crystal Sounds DECT monitor to use at my parents' house and we used it for a week on vacation and were really pleased with the quality.

Good to know - I was wondering about this too, but I don't think there are any laws in AB regarding position of the handle, just what the manufacturer recommends. I'm glad she is fighting the ticket, and hopefully they don't give her too much grief about it.

DD is napping best in her swing these days too, swaddled, with white noise on. I've very occasionally been able to get her back down to sleep if she wakes after 45 minutes by shushing and rocking her, but it doesn't often work.
I remember someone posting that 30 minute naps mean baby is overtired. And like PinkAngel mentioned, DD can only be up for 60-90 minutes before she's ready for another nap, and we average 4 naps here too. So I would suggest watching the clock from the time your DS wakes up - at 60 minutes, start watching for tired cues (dark circles under eyes, rubbing eyes, yawning, tugging/rubbing his ear), and at the first sign put him down for a nap. If he wakes up after 30 or 45 minutes, try putting him in the swing (if you have one; if you don't I suggest getting one!) or shushing/rocking him back to sleep.

DD started out nursing for 15 mins on each side every couple hours when she was really little. Now at 3 months she goes for 5 mins, almost always just on one side, and every 3 hours. It's been like this for about a month. It seemed very sudden but one day she just got much more efficient.

Calligram, I notice the capillaries on her eyelids, but the redness I'm more concerned about is basically between the top of her eyelid and her eyebrow, and it's more uniform.
Also it doesn't look like eczema - there's no dry skin or anything.

DD has some redness above her eyes, from the crease of her eyelid up to her eyebrows. It's not puffy and doesn't seem to bother her - she doesn't rub her eyes except when she's tired, and she doesn't seem to be trying to scratch. The eyelid, eyeball, and conjunctiva aren't red, there are no bumps or rash, and it seems to come and go throughout the day/week. Has anyone experienced this with their LO? Any ideas what could be causing it? I forgot to ask the doctor at our last appointment.

Do you swaddle for naps? I wasn't until a couple weeks ago, but L seems to nap better when she's swaddled.
Also, I would say that at the first sign of tired cues (rubbing his face or ear, yawning, etc), try putting him down so that he's not overtired when he's trying to fall asleep.
As for going out and napping, a mom in my moms' group uses the sleep sheep with her DS and just attaches it to the carseat or stroller. She says it's worked wonders for them.

We picked up a used lightweight stroller from Kijiji that accepts our Graco carseat for our upcoming trip, instead of bringing our City Select with us. DD will be 3.5 months, and the stroller reclines enough that she will be able to sit in it. I didn't want to bring the stroller frame, carseat, carseat adapter, AND toddler seat. We'll be traveling with just the carseat and stroller now. But, we only paid $25 - I don't think I could justify $200 on a second stroller that we likely won't get a ton of use out of.

We had the same thing - anatomy u/s at 20 weeks, baby had legs crossed with feet tucked right up, and I had an anterior placenta. The tech said she could only hazard a guess and was really reluctant to tell us, but she gave us her guess anyway (she guessed girl). We did go for a 3D u/s that same week and the tech there said that it looked like a girl, and she had me do much more moving around and took a lot more time looking at the genital area. We went back to the 3D place for a gender re-check 3 weeks later and it was much more clear that DD was a girl - we could see the 3 lines by that time.
I agree with Mama_Leo - get them to check again at the next u/s since you're going back anyway, and if your only reason for a 3D is to determine gender, book after the next one if they still can't tell.
