Places like museums and such have a lot of extra fees involved. We just got married at the Art Gallery, which is some sorta deal, and they aren't "wedding venues" so you have to rent a lot of extras, pay extra commission fees and the list goes on. You're also limited in time/hours for set up because they are public venues, so keep that in mind.

Despite the bs and the extra fees, we are VERY happy that we did have our reception at the Gallery. It was gorgeous and none of our guests had ever had dinner here:

What was the best part of your day?
There were so many awesome parts that it's really hard to choose! I really did love our walk back to the hotel after the reception, through the Byward market in our wedding clothes. It was so fun to hear all the honking and congrats yelled at us lol
What was the biggest let-down?
Sadly the only person who really upset me was my mother. First, she was so negative about her hair and makeup (even tho it looked gorgeous) just because it wasn't her every day style (isn't that why you do it??). Then, at the reception, despite me already telling her that we weren't comfortable dedicating a special dance to celebrate someone's 40th, she asked the DJ to do it before we even had our special dances with parents. She really hurt my feelings and it's still bothering me.
What are you glad you spent the money on?
Photographer - hands down! He was amazing!! And my dress - it wasn't crazy expensive or anything but it was worth every penny! The cost of choreographer was def worth it too - our dance rocked and everyone loved it!
What do you wish you had not bothered with?
Brunch the following morning - it was a big expense that we had not anticipated and it was just a pile of grease (we are healthy eaters so we weren't impressed)
Anything surprising about your day?
I was so thrilled to see how well our families came together - watching them all dance together all night long just made us smile

It's going to be a bit cooler but no rain and 16 isn't bad for a wedding - it will be comfortable

We had rehearsal dinner last night and it was just awesome. The family unity ceremony was a hit; not a dry eye in the house and it was awesome to share that moment with close family and friends in our home. My personal touches were already coming through and totally appreciated so today is gonna be awesome!
I'm so excited!!!

Thanks ladies!! The die will be kept at the DJ booth (he is the Emcee) so if they want us to kiss, they go to him to roll the dice (he will also explain the rules). If they get 4, they kiss 4 guests - if they get 2, they kiss 2 guests lol. The die is made from 10x10x10 box.

I've had a lot of fun throughout the wedding planning process. I always love planning parties and this one is the best one I've planned so far

I had my bridal boutique (With Love - Stittsville, ON) design a custom bolero for my wedding (in 11 days!!) and I am in complete...

I had my bridal boutique (With Love - Stittsville, ON) design a custom bolero for my wedding (in 11 days!!) and I am in complete awe! They ordered material from the designer (Mikealla) so it matches the train perfectly.
I just wanted to share in case anyone was considering a bolero but couldn't find something to match - having one custom-made is an option (It cost me about $150)

FI's uncle owns a sugar bush and he helped them bottle almost 200 mini bottles for our guests. They were gracious enough to provide the syrup and bottles for free so our favours only cost us the labels/embellishments



Our seating chart turned out very well too; I designed a template in PS and printed it via Vista Print (LOVE THEM).


I made bathroom baskets for both the women's and men's bathrooms:


I designed a little note to accompany them, as well for our "guest book" which is actually jenga blocks. The postcard you see are mad lib/wedding advice games for the bar area.
