thanks all for the wonderful advice! great insight and i was super gung ho and feeling good about scheduling another lunch until below..
@Irie right now, it's in the "what do we talk about" awkwardness phase so im not going to the 1:1 meet up
update:
i emailed for a kid-free get together lunch on sept 6. open date, end of the month. any date that will work for everyone. SB didnt reply even now (she works in front of a computer), other friend who has a kid is going away and made no hints in a future attempt(s) for another date when she gets back, our other friend is open when everyone is available.
so im saying WTF to myself right now. and basically, i will wait for someone else to schedule something if they want to meet up. i dont want to run around after people who can't put any effort in

should i let this friendship slide?

i've got a group of friends, 4 women, all of us went to post secondary together (grad 2004) and some of us even worked together afterwards. friends, not BEST friends, but a group you would organize a christmas get together with annually.
3 of us got pregnant within 4 months of each other in early 2011. 2 gave birth to healthy children, 1 had a stillborn (SB) at her 38th week.
As of 2012, we had one get together in January (briefing on what happened with SB, and after that the strength of our group just sort of chipped away). My friend who had the SB makes up reasons to not come to lunches (twice so far this year) and when she once remembered my birthday, not a single greeting came my way. in fact at a bday party invite, i got a text back saying, "i'm rather busy lately. Enjoy!" === which i feel a bit ticked off about.
not sure what to do about Christmas as i'm not feeling the efforts of anyone in the group at all anymore. i was rearranging get togethers before nearly every 2nd month before the SB happened, but now no one really txts/emails/keeps in active contact but me.
i dont really want to pursue one sided relationships or feel like im bothering people with meeting up.
should i just let things slide?
keep an active effort to maintain the relationship?
probably seeing our kids is a pain factor to our friend, but id like to stay friends too.
any advice?

has anyone tried the Boba Air?
it's new (july 2012) and NO WHERE is it stocked in Vancouver for me/us to play with. Furthermore, there aren't many reviews on it (ie. on Amazon).
Sounds like a genius idea as my ergo takes up half my undercarriage (if i even decide to bring it). But, not sure if the lack of padding will be uncomfortable for the thigh part of my 7.5month old baby.

i had this problem too and the midwife says it's normal for EBF babies to not have a poop daily as breastmilk is so readily absorbed. more than 2-3 days is a bit of an issue. so i asked WB what to do and the ladies said to up baby's feeds, lo and behold he had a massive poop the next day.
poop is supposed to be runny until solids are started.

once he gets in the bassinette he startles and sh/pat sadly does not work at all.
he's thrashing/grunting/squealing but not crying and generally SO NOISY. sometimes it leads to him settling himself (after ignoring), sometimes it leads to crying which then i would pick him up.

hi all
i think most websites and books recommend putting the baby down "drowsy but awake." i think the statement is pretty clear even though i had to google the meaning of it umpting times! lol
so if my baby is showing the signs of drowsy but awake (eyes closed but not deep sleep, loud but regular breathing rhythm, some limp limb) and then i put him down in his bed he startles again...am i supposed to lift him back up and redo the whole soothing process (which could take over 30 minutes) over again or let him thrash/squeak/grunt and soothe himself back to sleep?
pick him up only if his noises transcend into cries?

we go to bed sometime between 9:45 and 10:30pm
usually start winding down around 9:30 with a wipe down, diaper change, get into pajamas, and then a feed. most times, he passes out and then i take the opportunity to also go to bed STAT to maximize my sleep.
he wakes up every 2-4 hours over night (me, more often as he's SUCH a loud restless sleeper) and i feed him.

hello all
trying to kill 2 birds with one stone in this post! lol
baby is EBF and hasnt really had an adequate bowel movement in what is day 2 (today) ...should i be worried?
he usually has at least one large one in the morning, but currently they've just been small/scant/smear like- maybe 2-3 or so in the day. Lots of urine soaked diapers...no colic like symptoms...farts every now and then...generally content...feeding well.
hmmm...
and part 2:
whenever baby is upset his belly button looks like it sticks out more so ...kind of hernia like. are most babies born with some level of umbilical hernia that'll go away once their abdominal muscles get stronger? i think he has an "outie" and i definitely can push it in!

hello
just looking for some support and hopefully this is "normal" and that im not alone!
Baby is SUCH a restless sleeper at night from about 4am and onwards (wakes up officially around 8:30am). he's grunting, snorting, stretching, thrashing, squeaking, making all sorts of sounds...then relaxes for a couple of minutes or so...then does all of this again and again and again.
it is SO LOUD and his bassinet is right beside our bed. it's hard to not be woken up by it or ignore it and go on with our sleeps.
he's not crying or looks like he's uncomfortable.
is this normal? is this just a stage?
DH and i are starting to sleep in separate rooms just so one of us can sleep and function in the day!
and speaking of day, when he is sleeping during the day..it's so peaceful and quiet. i dont get it

just wondering WHY you introduced the pacifier to your little one and
WHEN do you use the pacifier?
has anyone had issues with nipple confusion?
my babe will be 3 weeks tomorrow!
im on the fence about it as im not sure whether my reasons are right in doing so.
reason 1) try to establish a nap/sleep time. pop it in..soothe himself to sleep
2) baby is in the PURPLE stage of crying in the evening and he just cannot be consoled...havent tried the pacifier yet though.

hi all
just wondering if many of you got professional newborn baby photos done?
im just weighing out the cost (about $350) and long term "regrets" if i dont just to capture that stage in baby's lives.
Of course, i can take my own pictures...but i love that anne geddes look that i have absolutely NO eye for haha.
maybe i should spend the money and get my own SLR camera and take my own photos and take similar shots as pro photographers?
i get about 40 files/pics in the package...and wondering if I need to pay for 40...i mean i just post a couple or so around the house right as they're ever growing!
hmmmm
if you have any insight on what i should be thinking about or consider, feel free to pass it along!
thank you

i had stretch marks before..and now they're not red. im possibly getting some new ones, but more like pin point redness not long angry lines.
also, im drinking lots of water and keeping the weight gain slow and appropriate for the pregnancy.
if i feel any itchiness, it's moisturizing time with whatever lotions are available

hi all
im thinking of purchasing a DSLR. i'm a super newbie and possibly/probably..ok most likely one that won't read a 50 page owners manual.
Just wondering is it necessary/worth it to purchase say a Canon 40D which is expensive, or because i'm a newbie, stick with the T1/T2/T3, rebel, XS etc line?
does the camera REALLY matter or you can have any of these cameras but the lenses really are what counts (hardware talk only not personally photography skills/eye).
What post processing program do you use? or recommend...that's free?
thank you thank you

hi all
just about to set up the crib and the whole change pad cover situation aka pre-nesting.
just wondering if there's something special i should look for when buying crib fitted sheets and change pad covers?
Is cotton flannel a bad thing?
Should i pick out linen based on price? I dont see thread counts anywhere.
from what i've seen ...Kushies are cheapest, then there are some in the $15-$20 range ...then of course $20+.
does it affect the baby in any way depending on what material?
Is flannel not recommended?
thanks!

I went to nursing school when i was 18 and got my BSN when I was 21. I'm 28 now, been working in acute care/medical ward since I graduated, but doing a stint as clinical nurse educator (kushy job btw), and enjoy what I do in all levels.
i'd like to warn you though that nursing is NOT EASY! I find it very glamorized on tv and hence why i don't watch any hospital shows. Nurses work their arses off and it's really shameful that the common public doesn't know and perhaps even appreciate what a nurse does/their scope of practice unless they've had personal experience in the hospital ie. family hospitalized.
again, i really enjoy what I do and totally recommend everyone to go into nursing! I say go for your RN not your LPN- you will have more opportunities and jobs once you graduate. I don't know where you live but here in BC, the BCNU is a powerful union whereas the LPN's belong to HEU (same union as other non-nursing employees)- and from what i have heard, isn't the strongest advocate for the LPN's!

ive done it, take $10 to pay for the gondola back down. make sure you check the website first to see if it's open before you go.
as for the grind itself, i'm not a super fit person but my first time with no idea of what it was like..it took me 2h 10mins, the 2nd time, when I actually had a plan of action, it took me 1h 15mins. my advice is don't wear a back pack, bring water or gatorade, when you rest, DON'T SIT DOWN! give yourself like 30-60 seconds and count yourself out of that rest period and just continue on. don't compare yourself with others "beating you," and finally the hardest part is the first 1/4, the rest is manageable!
you will sweat buckets, so don't wear sweats, don't wear a sweater, but wear dry fit type of clothing. however, it's cold up Grouse and if you have a dry fit long sleeved shirt that would help with the recovery period.
Finally, you wont have leg pain the next day, but you will if you went downhill (which you're not allowed to do anyways). I forgot the rationale why, but it's easily googled.
Hope that helps!
