Has anyone received theirs? My DH is going to the states next week so I was thinking of ordering one through the US web site (the 2012 models are $99 there) and having it shipped to his hotel, but he thinks it would be too bulky to take back. Looking on the web site though it looks like it comes well packed in a box with a handle. Is this true? Would you say it would be easy or hard to take back on an airplane?

I ordered one from the states. If you can't find one, you might check with a taylor or a shoe place and see if they can make one for you. It is two straps, secured in the middle with O rings at each of the 3 ends. I could send the measurements for you if you want (PM me if you want me to).

Ok, I'm glad that others don't think I'm a freak for getting upset, and that I should just suck it up because "daycare clothes are supposed to get wrecked".
They didn't really give me a good reason not to use smocks.
I really like it there, and don't want to complain, but I am getting tired of ruined clothes.

I generally like our daycare but I'm getting frustrated with the stained clothes. i know not to send good clothes but i don't like play clothes stained either. the biggest problem is the paint and they refuse to put smocks on them. the most recent example is DD's muddy buddy or newt suit. it is from MEC so not a cheap item ( though also not what I would expect to find paint on anyway). She is the 5th child to wear this rain suit, and all were in daycare but this is the first time it has not come clean. i had planned to sell it after DD was done with it but that is not possible. her shirts all come home with stains that don't come out no matter what I do. I'd rsther they strip them to diapers than distroy everything she owns. should I say anything or just keep fighting the stains? BTW anyone have suggestions for getting paint out of a rain suit?

I still haven't gotten anything for easter baskets, and would like to have more in them than just chocolate because the kids don't need that much sugar. I don't have one to recommend, (though I o like my kitchen aid ones, but they don't meet your requirements as the stove is electric, and the fridge is a big door) but I highly recommend avoiding maytag. We have a Maytag dishwasher and we hate it!!! It has broken down constantly, and it does not wash well. I've spoken with other people who have maytag as well, and they do not like their appliances either. Good luck with the new house!

DH & I are heading to the Dominican Republic on Saturday (and are very excited that my parents are going to stay with the kids). I'm starting to pull stuff out to pack and can't decide how much stuff to take with me. How many pairs of shorts, capris, dressy outfits etc. I've never gone on a real no schedule vacation, and I'm finding I'm actually quite clueless as to how much stuff I will need. I've no idea what there is to do there, but I figure we will spend a fair amount of time around the pool, and likely do at least a couple of of-site excursions. So how much of everything would you bring, and is there anything you wish you had brought, or anything you were glad you took with you. Thanks

XP - No-Monia?? Cloth diaper question

I just saw on gogreendiapers.com that they have a new product called no-monia which is supposed to get rid of amonia in cloth diapers. Here is the description from their site:
No-monnia can be used as a cloth diaper stripping agent to rid your stash of accumulated detergent, hard water mineral, and ammonia residue, serving to restore diaper absorbency and reduce skin irritaton. Even better, No-monnia can be used as a rinse additive each time you wash to inhibit ammonia formation and accumulation, and it also facilitates the removal of detergent during the rinse cycle. Moreover, No-monnia pH balances your diapers, bringing them back from that of detergents towards the pH of healthy skin. No-monnia is all-natural, clean-rinsing, and is enzyme, phosphate, and SLS-free. No-monnia is not a detergent, therefore it should not be used alone, but rather in conjuction with your favorite cloth diaper laundry detergent.
HOW TO USE:To prevent ammonia buildup, use No-monnia during the rinse cycle every time you wash cloth diapers.1) Cold rinse diapers at least once to remove any solids. 2) Wash on warm with your favorite cloth diaper detergent.3) Add 2-4 tbsp. No-monnia* to the FINAL rinse cycle (we recommend rinsing twice after washing with detergent) 4) Dry on medium heat.To strip diapers with No-monnia:1) Put clean diapers in a sink, tub, or washer, and fill with warm water just enough to cover diapers. 2) Add 4-8 tbsp. No-mmonia per load.3) Soak for 30 min. 4) Rinse at least once after stripping with No-monnia.5) Dry on medium heat.Ingredients: natural ammonia inhibitor, plant-derived antimicrobial polyol, buffer. Enzyme, phosphate, and SLS-free. *Warning: do not mix with bleach.
I'm wondering if anyone has ever used it (or anything like it) and what the results were, and if it affected your child's bottom? I'm thinking of getting it because I'm having a horrible time with the amonia smell, but worry about adding mroe chemicals to DD's skin.
Also, does anyone know where I could get this in Canada and avoid US shipping??
Thanks

Your son is still fairly young. What about getting a Britax Frontier. You can keep him in a 5pt harness until he is 65lbs and a bum to shoulder height of 20" (4" higher than the marathon). It then changes from a 5pt harness to a standard high back booster. I think it has the heighest shoulder height possible.
We are getting one of these for DS because he still falls asleep in the car periodically and I just feel keeping him in a 5pt harness is the safest option. He is big enough now weight/height wise, but I figure the laws are the minimum and I want to keep him as safe as possible.

We got the costco one a couple of years ago, and have gotten a fair bit of use out of it (we'd get more except the hornets seem to love it too).
If you get one I've one recommendation for putting it together. Take the hardware out of the box before you start and divide it into baggies that are labeled for each step. It takes a little time, but when you go to put it together it makes it MUCH simpler! Someone in line recommended it to us when we were buying ours and I'm very glad they did!!

I was wondering if anyone had the Evenflo Maestro car seat. If so, I was wondering if someone could measure and tell me how high the highest strap slot is - from the seat to the slot. I'm thinking about getting the SecureKid400 and apparently it is built on the same frame as the Maestro so I would assume that the strap slot heights would be the same. I can only find it online, and that isn't a measurement that they tell you. I would like to keep DS in a 5pt harness as long as possible, but he has a long torso, so I want a seat with the highest slot height. (or if anyone has suggestions for other seats that go from a 5pt to a booster for a tall kid I'd love to hear them) Thanks.

Definitely XBox!! (as long as it has kinect)
We have both, and I definitely like the XBox better. The Kinect promotes more activity (DS (5) loves fruit ninja, Kinect sports and Adventures).
My son does use the Wii for Mario Kart and Wii sports resort, but I don't find he's as active as he is with the Kinect.
For myself I have a couple of fitness programs for each and find the Kinect easier to use.
I find the Wii can be very frustrating as it doesn't seem to always register.
We were actually thinking of getting rid of the Wii because we don't use it very much anymore, whereas the XBox gets used a few times each week.

There are also a lot of regional differences. The bad thing I find with Costco though is you go in to get milk and end up spending $100 on other stuff. There are also things that you can get at Costco that you can't get anywhere else.
