And one more post from me:
"But for instance as I was walking the aisles I came across this plant (an annual) bright pinkish fuscia purple leaves. It was in a more expensive cell pack so I only bought one or 2 I think. I should have bought an entire flat of them. They grew just over my knee and were a shade plant. Bright fuscia all summer between hostas??? Can't do better than that. I don't know the name and I don't even think my cell pack had a marker. I'd definately be looking for those again."
Gosh - I sure wish you could remember the name! We have almost nothing but shade around these parts and something with some colour between my hostas would be amazing.
I just noted the date on the original thread, and I was in the newborn daze when all this happened originally. I'd love to see any fall shots you took (of that awesome cousin it bush for sure!)
Very very well done T.

Where do I start?
- slope of driveway: didn't realize that my kid wouldn't have anywhere to ride a trike/bounce a ball/etc
- phone jacks: our split level house has two. one is in the furnace room in the basement, and one is in the master bedroom and that's it (none on the main living levels at all).
If we ever moved I would also look for:
- ensuite bath off the master bdrm
- main/upper level laundry

For me it would depend on what benefits Company A offers. Short-term disability? Mat leave top-up? These are the things that now matter to me for a job surrounding pregnancy.
If there is no short term disability and no top up, then I would definitely meet with Company B. If the job/opportunity sounds as good in person as it did on paper, then I might even take it and try my best to time the birth of my baby with the end of the 1 year mat leave contract (y'know, b/c we have such control over these things :P)

I did a search (for within the last 2 years) and can't believe there aren't any posts about this product?
I was looking for something new to try anyway, saw the infomercial and got up to order it....thought I would check the reviews first and there are tons of negative ones - all about how you can't get them to stop sending it/get your money back (once you buy even 1 order, it automatically signs you up on auto-shipments AND auto-payments at $30/month.)
So I'm not ordering it now.
Any opinions on it anyway? Or any other cleansing conditioner?

YOu can also redeem them for Marlin Travel Gift certificates and then take them to your local Marlin travel to use for whatever you book with them. I think you can only use $400/person though.
Also, tripcentral out of Atlantic canada was accepting airmiles. I was so jealous!

This was an update on her Support FB page from a few hours ago:
"As some of you know from my FB page, my husband has been found alive. He is not "home" the true sense of the word but we're working on it. I want to stress once again how thankful I am for all the love and support I've received. My family disabled my FB while I was away from my home this evening due to the very hurtful comments being posted - some from fellow Calgarians. This was not a scam for free food. I struggled with the idea of accepting help from strangers(and we ONLY accepted food, no money or toys as someone mentioned) because I knew inevitably there would be backlash. I honestly was expecting a completely different outcome and I am just so happy to know my husband is alive and we can move forward and heal together privately.
I haven't had a chance to personally thank all of you who took the time to bring my family food. THANK YOU. Your generousity helped fuel my "support team" and keep us going in our search for Stefan."

I'm in the GTA and our regular grocery store is a Freshco close to us. Luckily, they do price-matching, which saves us a lot of running around. However, the stipulations are:
- only major grocery chains (ie they will not PM a Walmart flyer, but will do No frills, RCSS, Loblaws, Metro, etc)
- you can only get 2 of the item (ie if pasta sauce is on sale somewhere else, you can only get 2 of them at the PM-price at freshco)
Most of the time the stipulations don't bother us too much.

I think DayDreamer said it best when she asked the OP to take a step back and imagine what it will be like when she's married, has 2 young children, and her MIL and SIL try to impose their feelings/ways into their marriage! I was actually going to ask the OP to save this thread/post for yourself and look at it in 5 years. I'll bet you'll be in a very similar position one day (having IL's that don't agree with what you are doing with your children, etc) and it'll be a real eye-opener.
OP - your mom hasn't seen the grandkids for a week. Everyone will survive. Lots of people on here have family that is several provinces away, so don't see them even nearly that often. My MIL has never seen her grandson, and never will. I think it's ok for you and your mom to take a step back

I need help finding a DCP for Feb 2012 - West GTA

I am returning to work full-time in mid-Feb 2012 (when Logan will be 1 year old) and have started to look for daycare providers. Today was very very discouraging, and so I'm hoping that the WB masses can help

We live around Dixie and the Queensway in Mississauga. DH will be doing drop-offs and pick-ups and he works at Brown's Line and Lakeshore (technically South Etobicoke), so we would like for him to head in that general direction for the daycare (ie daycares around Square One are not realistic).
Does anyone have a DCP they can recommend? That or a search option I haven't thought of? We were hoping for a home-based daycare, b/c we didn't think we could afford a centre, but at this point, I am becoming more open to anything.
I have used daycarebear.com, ontariohomedaycare.com, the Region of Peel's website (absolutely effing useless), and the Ministry's website. These searches resulted in none. I have emails out to 3 different agencies, but before I pay their registration fee, I want to know that they at least have options in our area. I have started searching on kijiji, but how discouraging that most people can't even put a sentence together?
Help?

We did this before DS was born. Almost every linen closet/room/basement storage area. It's me that has problems letting go, so when I do feel like I am in a 'throw it away' mood, DH drops what he's doing and finds something for us to throw away (box of cassettes and CDs, for example). I find that he is too lax about throwing things away. It's like he doesn't value *anything* (ie he didn't go to his prom or his graduation, b/c 'meh, why?' so I find we struggle to find a balance.
I really really liked the premise of the "Clean Sweep" show. If you have the space (or it is summer) then I would recommend their method. Every single thing from a room goes on the lawn. 3 piles; keep, toss, sell/donate. You have 30 minutes to do the initial purge (everything has to end up in one of those 3 piles) and then after that, you go through the keep stuff with more of a fine tooth comb.
My biggest problem is - and maybe someone will have some thoughts on this - that I don't know what to do with things that aren't garbage (ie still in excellent shape) that I paid MONEY for. I have a hard time just throwing them away (I akin donating to throwing them away). Sigh.

Someone who has already purchased the new packaging let me know that the rolling/unrolling of the bag is a huge PITA as well b/c after a couple of times, the sticky tab is no longer sticky b/c it is covered in powder. She also mentioned that the consistency changed like you guys are saying - it is no longer easy to scoop/level out b/c it is too moist and clumps.

Can we talk about Enfamil for a second? They have made big changes to the packaging for Enfamil A+. For the new packaging, the first thing you do is buy a reusable container with a flip-up lid. Inside is a bag that you have to roll and unroll each time you use it. After you own the container, the idea is that you buy boxes that contain 2 refill bags for the inside. I don't find this convenient, but whatever.
However, instead of the cans being the usual 730g or the value size of 1.02kg, the new initial container holds a bag that holds 663g of formula. And it sells for more. Usual sale price was $25, now the sale price is $29 (walmart). Less formula for more money.
But then I look at the refill boxes (contains 2 refills) and see that they are $40. Divide that by 2 and ok, $20 for a formula refill is a good price, so I think I start to understand what they are doing - charge more for the 'container', but less for the refills. But no. The TOTAL amount of formula in the box is 992g with each refill having 496g. Last week I bought the Value size of Enfamil A+ formula (1.02kg) for $25 on sale at the Superstore. This week, less formula is $15 MORE.
I'm floored. I seriously don't even know what to say about it except Kirkland brand, here I come???

I know this makes a lot of your stomachs' churn, but I wanted to share that my 35th birthday was yesterday and DH and I did Edgewalk to celebrate!
For those of you who aren't aware, Edgewalk = very high tower + narrow platform + small rope

The platform was grates, so you could see down through it as you were walking. That was the worst part for me, as I don't even walk over grates on the sidewalks of TO. You get to lean out backward like in the pics (with your heels over and your whole body hanging out over the edge) but you also do the 'titanic'. (Which refers not to your imminent death, but to the whole "king of the world" type of pose :P)
At the end they left me out there and sang happy birthday to me

Pics!

Very exciting, very expensive. I do recommend it if this is your type of thing.

I don't blame Person A for wanting to explain to the parent either. Especially since I think your DH is Person B and if he's anything like my DH, he only 1/2 listened to the invitation, heard 'family' and 'brunch' and the rest was background noise. I would even assume that the father had said outright that it was a 1st bday party in the original invitation and it had gone right past DH.

We live in ON. DH has a possible opportunity to go to Edmonton for work for a week in late November/early December. Wondering if we should go with him? DS will be 8 months old. DH would be working for 8 hrs/day, but then would be off the rest of the time (ie evenings). We would only have to pay for my flight and some meals. But my question is:
- what would I do all day?
- if we get a hotel near the West Edmonton Mall, can I really walk there and spend a whole week in that mall? (please tell me there is something else to do in Edmonton!)
- how bad will the weather be?
The idea of staying home for a week with DS without DH with no breaks, etc, is making me want to go (and for a fun trip), but the idea of spending a week locked away in a hotel room doesn't sound appealing.
Feedback? TIA.

I know I've already said it but disboards.com!! (as if you need another forum to get addicted to

Anyway, October is Mickey's not-so-scary halloween party (MNSSHP for short), throughout all of october, so make sure you do that (I think it is certain days of the week, at Magic Kingdom). Take your costumes!! (The characters are in costume as well, which is pretty cute) You get to go into the park at 4pm (for a separate fee, so try to buy these tickets through AC Vacations before you go) and then the trick or treating starts around 7pm - you get to stay at the park til midnight. Make sure you hit the "Boo to You" Parade.
