I've got surgery coming up, and I will not be able to eat anything 'normal' for quite some time, and then once I am able to eat, it will be only tiny bits of super healthy food.
So, I'm taking the next five weeks to eat some of the things that I haven't had recently. Dh and I have been eating super healthy for the last six months, and are ready to enjoy some yummy foods!
I have a list of foods that I want to make sure I get in, but I want to make sure I don't miss anything.
So - what's your "I'll never eat again, gotta make sure I eat ...." ???????? I'm looking for all suggestions!!

I haven't said anything to her, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to talk to her in person about it, next time I see her. She's really good at brushing things off as "oh well, it was just a joke", but I thought this was incredibly ignorant.
Growing up, my father left my family, and we were three young girls, and my recently unemployed mother. She worked when she could, but without a car, no high school education, and living in a small town, she was only able to get work at a local chicken-processing place when work was available. We relied on the foodbank every Christmas, not just for food, but also for gifts (we were one of those families that were lucky to benefit from the generosity of others). I can remember times when we ate honey sandwiches for a week, because all we had was bread and a bucket of honey.
I thought the e-mail was simple minded and ignorant. End of today's lesson.

I got an e-mail with this today from my MIL. I wanted to post it on FB to see what my friends thought, but didn't want to cause trouble. So I bring it to you here at WB.
So this is what it is, I'm curious to know how everyone sees this.
"The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is actually proud of the fact it is distributing the greatest number of free meals and food stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their reason for this policy is that the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.
This ends today's lesson."

I'm 5'10", and my goal weight is 205 lbs. Which I know sounds like a lot, but I haven't been that weight in over 10 years. I have lost about 35 lbs so far (since Feb 1st) and still have A LOT of the way to go. I'm looking forward to 205! As like some of you, I am sturdy, so at 205 I will still look DAMN good

Just a quick post to see what everyone out there in WB land is eating/has eaten/wishes they were eating for dinner tonight.
DH had to drive an hour to an appointment tonight for 7, so he came home early, and we had dinner at 4:30ish. I made baked chicken breasts, roasted cauliflower, and steamed asparagus. Right now, I'm eating baby carrots and dip.
I wish, instead, that we would have had East Side Marios - I've had a HUGE carving lately ...

I won a silent auction in the fall for a shiny new KitchenAid mixer. I used it for a bunch of baking at Christmastime, but since DH and I have started eating healthy, I haven't used it at all.
All I can this to make with it is cakes, batters, cookies, shipped cream ... but nothing healthy.
So I'm asking for healthy recipe stuff. What do you use your KitchenAid for, besides sugary yummy stuff? I hate the idea of it just sitting there all the time ...

There's a place like that in our small town. Its a very nice place, well maintained, nice patio. They have food and drinks, and live music on weekends. Their food is nice, 7 layer dips, sandwiches, salads, soups - and nothing deep fried.
I find them pricey for lunch, but its good food and a nice clean establishment.
Oh, they have about 50 seats, plus the patio.

I really do not love my job. I even hate it.
My dream, when I was little, was to work in a tall building, carry a briefcase, be in business. I had that job, for 8 years. I didn't always *love* that job, but it was overall awesome. It was M-F, paid vacation, good hours, all stat days off, and benefits.
Last year, DH got an amazing career opportunity, and we packed up and moved back to both where we were both from. We totally upgraded to our forever home, and a career for DH that has the ability to really set us up in the future. I had to sacrifice my office job.
In my new small little town, jobs are scarce, and are mostly retail, food service, or production/factory. I was "lucky" enough to get a position at OLG slots, on contract. The pay is good, one of the best in this area, but the hours SUCK, I'm still on contract, have no benefits, and no stat days off. I'm so frustrated, since they just announced no more hiring of permanent positions.
If we had the means, I'd quit, go to school for social work. I wish I had known 12 years ago what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Hi! I'm Tracey. DH and I were married in Sept 2008, TTC'ing for a bit until our GP advised us not to, until I lost a lot of weight (like, half my person). After doctors, and specialists, and clinics and therapists, I am awaiting bariatric surgery, and will need to wait 2 years post-surgery to begin TTC'ing again. We are looking into adoption, but that's going about as fast as the surgery process!
So! Right now we are a family of 2, with one lady dog (Charlie), a cat (Izzy), and we are looking into another dog very soon (like Thursday!) I don't know if we will ever be parents, and are right now quite enjoying our FOT lifestyle

And, as requested ....

We are in the beginning stages of planning a birthday party for me! I turn 30 on April 30th, and am pretty excited about it!
We were talking with friends last night, and he mentioned his perfect party - a baseball theme - hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, baseball cards, teams, everything. Sounds like an easy way to make a party about something that is important.
As much as I like baseball, or hockey, I'm not interested in either of those as a party theme.
So what else? I'm totally coming up blank for ideas. I know that YOU don't know what my interests are, but what parties have you been to, fun parties with food and decorations and a theme that works - or what would your perfect party be?
I'm not a big drinker, and I'm not a fan of beer at all...

It's good that everyone gets a lot out of it, and all for different reasons.
I love a lot of the other things that everyone else has mentioned too, especially the sense of family, trust, and warmth from everyone in the congregation. DH grew up in this church, and I was the same demonination, just a different church in a different town. Everyone there knows Chris from forever, and has welcomed me too.

I was thinking today about the one song we sing every week in Church, and how it often gets stuck in my head, but I don't mind, since it's upbeat and thankful and cheerful. I have a few "Fav things" about the service this week, I thought I'd share, and ask for what you enjoy the most.
If you go to church every week, just on holidays, or maybe every now and then for a wedding or a baptism, and have something that you enjoy the most, share it!

My favs:
- Thankful Hearts - sung every week after communion
- the benediction and sending

We did it. We moved from a city, to a house in a very tiny community (30 houses) in the middle of nowhere. We are now a lot closer to family (15 mins) but 1.5 hrs from friends, good shopping, and good restaurants. I would do it all again in a second.
I love it out here. We sold our semi-detached house for almost $15,000 more than what we bought our forever, fully detattched, 3/5 acre house. Our friends come to visit, and we visit them, and its always a good time.
There are times when I wish I could just 'pop by', but we made more friends here, and are really thriving.

I am so sick of people putting other people into categories.
I hate these posts that put Christians, or other believers in a bad light. There are many many good Christians in this world everywhere.
And FYI Gay people can be good and bad too! Just because you are Gay doesn't mean that you get to look down on someone else!
Just because you are Gay and I am Christian doesn't mean that I get to put you into a "wrong" category, and in the same light, you can't put me into a "hateful" category.
People are what they are. Gay, Christian, Christian AND Gay, black, white, homeless, rich, poor, uneducated, hooked on drugs, or whatever else. Who is *anyone* to judge?
Stop comparing people! Stop judging people or leaving your anti-Gay or anti-religious comments.
And dammit ... Merry Christmas.
